Her luck seemed to be particularly fickle. And she tried a great many things to change her luck for the better. She carried around a rabbit’s foot, hung horseshoes up, and performed a ritual every month. No matter what she did, nothing changed. Her luck didn’t seem bad, but it wasn’t good either. After seeing no change she gave up following superstitions and performing her monthly ritual.

“It’s average. And I can’t seem to influence it at all.” As much as it pained her to say, it was likely for the best. If she could change her luck, she would be too powerful.

“I do notbelieve in luck.” She stated matter-of-factly. Really, she wanted tobelieve that luck had much less to do with the outcome of one’s actions thanthe effort put into that action. Moreover, she didn’t want to get in the habitof blaming luck instead of holding herself accountable.

Katie liked to think that she was a pretty lucky person despite many of the terrible things that had happened in her life. Apart from losing her parents, Katie was blessed with a beautiful group of friends and a beautiful place to live. Of course, this didn’t seem to be the kind of lucky that they were asking about but she believed it to be the most important kind. Almost like being blessed by the goddess, she felt.

“Well, when it comes to my life in general, I’m very lucky!” she exclaimed, smiling. “I’ve got the best friends and life that anyone could ask for. In general though when it comes to winning the lottery and stuff, well...” she paused. “Let’s just say that won’t be happing any time soon, hehe!”

Oh well, money wasn’t everything, right?
