and thats season one finished! god, id forgotten how nostalgic it makes me feel aha. i was probably around 8 when i first watched merlin - my best friend at the time had the box sets so id go to her house every day to watch with her - and i kept coming back to it at different times of my life always feeling both the same fondness for it but a new appreciation too. of course theres faults and issues, but thats kinda part of the charm

honestly ive forgotten my opinions on half the episodes by now so this is kind of based on the vibes i remember and is also something that would fluctuate from day to day, but right now thats where im at. its also based both on my enjoyment of the episode and the actual integrity of the episode and the quality from a logistical standpoint. some of the shittiest episodes of the show are my favourite even though i know they arent good, so i refuse to rank them low despite that (this will apply more in later seasons (im looking at you, a servant of two masters...))

esp that scene where they’re all riding back to Camelot in ‘Castle of Fyrien’ that has distinct rented camper van vibes with friends vibes (snippy remarks and two-day tees included) that I can’t really discount lmao

the real beach parts have a ‘Swimming with the Fishies’ feature that I don’t really love Yes 😂

so bbc merlin has a christmas episode (obviously) but no beach episode??
