He definitely overheard, not eavesdropped thank you very much, that a certain someone was still struggling to get their holiday shopping done. Not aware of the details as to why, nor was he about to ask (too embarrassed to), but that she was still in a state of uncertainty as to what to get. Well, the cat probably can't give her answers as to specifics, but he can at least be there as a second opinion if she wanted him to be. ....Or even just carry the bags if that's all she needed of him. Either or works for him. However he can help Tohru out, he will.

The ginger paced around his room momentarily as he pondered a few things (primarily about how to ask her about wanting his assistance) before coming to an internal decision. Kyo made his way down the steps of the house, peaking around each corner until he found a familiar head of brunette hair. It wasn't that late in the day, but he isn't surprised that Tohru was already getting ahead for what he assumed would be the house's dinner. Thankfully she looked nearly done from what he could tell, he didn't want to make her feel rushed if he came down to ask and she was still in the middle of it.

note: inspired by a song but it's not even on tumblr😪 i put 'black' in the title, not bc my other fics aren't made for the Nubian queens🤓(sory) but because that's specifically the target this time so... yeah. i feel like this one is worse than usual🫢 but it’s just for fun n practice anyways. the title has nothing to do with it but it’s a lyric in the song.

kyojuro slid his arms around your waist, sliding his hands over your curves before letting them rest on your hips. he gripped the soft fat and let a low rumble resound in his chest.

“hi, kyo.” you brought a hand up to thread into his hair, scratching his scalp with your freshly manicured nails.

his only reply was a hum as he kissed a line from your cheek to your neck where he nipped and sucked to leave a mark.

you rolled your eyes and shook your head.

“we’re not having another baby.”

“we don’t have to.” you could hear his smile as he said that.

“kyojuro.” your tone was flat and unamused. “..are you sure?”

“what do you mean?” he rubbed your hips which he was previously trying to bruise. don’t tell nobody. “of course i’m sure.”

“i mean,” you sighed. “i just had a baby. i don’t know… i don’t feel pretty.”

“what?!” he genuinely sounded taken aback. you felt his arms leave your waist and fall to his sides.

you turned around to look up at him.

“i don’t feel good about myself, baby. maybe some other time.” you replied honestly.

“why not?” he asked. you felt bad for even telling him because he looked heartbroken.

you shook your head and shrugged.

“don’t worry about-“

kyojuro scooped you up in his arms, eliciting a gasp. you flung your arms around his neck in surprise.

“wait, wait-“

“you’re the most beautiful woman in the world and i’m lucky to be with you.” he says. you watched his face as he walked up the stairs, noting the frown that settled ever since you told him how you were feeling. “and you made our beautiful daughter. that’s something to be proud of.”

he took you to the bedroom and set you down on the bed.

“and if you don’t see that, i’ll show you.”

your brain buffered for a moment before you realized he was taking his shirt off.

“kyo! what if she wakes up?”

“she’s a baby, she won’t know.” he dragged you to the edge of the bed, sliding your oversized shirt(it was really his) over your head. “for now let’s worry about you.”

he placed his hands on your bare waist and grinned at you.

... now this, took a minute to answer in some ways. There a lot of ships I like, so this was really easy and hard to answer at the same time. Some ships it was an immediate yep yep and others I had to go '... but is it a fav of all time, though?" But I think I got it narrowed down.

So here we go, fav ships of all time from any media, no particular order. I didn't get any specific no. to do so I'll just list a handful until I can't think of any others. (Anyone who comes across this that sees a ship on here you don't like and feels the need to say something about it, stay in your lane this ain't about your opinions it's about mine.)

The main FMA ships

Arakawa Hiromu, nigga, you cooked. Imma just put the FMA ships as one and leave it there because if I do it separately, we'll be here all day. But if you wanna see me diving into why I like these ships in a manic ramble, here's a post I made on that here. The romance in FMA is literally a category and a discussion all on its own that I can go about on for hours. FMA has the best romances in shounen so anyone who has consumed FMA will know what I'm talking about. Like, whenever anyone tries to use a manga being 'shounen' to justify shitty romantic writing, I point at FMA's brilliant riding. An animanga's demographic is not an excuse for terrible executions in romance. EdWin, RoyAi, LingFan, AlMei and all the side ships drank and left no molecules.

NaruSaku

Toxic shippers, again, stay in your lane, I don't feel like dealing with y'all any day. I have been shipping this shit for years, always have, always will. Ignore the fact I ship Sakura with literally everyone from the Akatsuki to Hinata to Sai to Shikamaru. (Y'all I used to look up Kisame/Sakura fics, unironically TAT). (Same for Naruto honestly, I've shipped him with Sasuke, Ino, Temari, Tenten, the list goes on and on.) The way Sakura goes from finding Naruto annoying to almost dying multiple times to keep him safe, I will never EVER be over that. Naruto's love going from puppy to something as passionately red as the thread of fate itself. The MinaKushi parallels. I have a lot (and I mean a lot) of ships in Naruto pertaining to these two, but NaruSaku is my absolute favorite. Like it was literally confirmed that Sakura got over Sasuke and then it got retconned for some bullshit. Saying it with my whole chest, argue with a wall, it should have been them. I won't dog any other ships, but yeah, it should have been them. 699 chapters of Naruto being in love with one woman, I sing the praises everyday.

SakuHina

Hinata's prince charming is literally Sakura. I have a whole ass fic I am slowly, painstakingly writing about what Naruto would have been like if Hinata had a crush on Sakura the whole time. I just think they're really cute together, have amazing chemistry and balance each other out. I didn't expect to like SakuHina as much as I did but here we are.

Kyoru

I mentioned it before in another answered ask but Fruits Basket was my first manga (if you're curious what my first anime was, it was Yu Yu Hakusho) and Kyoru was probably my first OTP. There are two characters I think upon so many rewatches and rereads that were prime game for who Kyo and Tohru could have ended up with had things been different (which, I do really ship as well. Multishipper here guys) but I'm not mad about the endgames that we got. From start to finish, Kyo and Tohru's relationship is beautiful and you can feel how strongly they feel for one another. It's like, wow, Takaya really gave us one of the best ships in shoujo and didn't even apologize for it.

Klance

Red + Blue = True. They had chemistry, supplemented for what the other lacked and we really don't need to have me diving into the bs that was VLD. That show wasn't even out long, my god, it was a mess.

NeuviFuri

Should I explain to you the romanticism of Hydro x Hydro? Oof how I love them. A Genshin ship after my own heart, truly. But if anyone is trying to against MiHoyoverse (I was here from the Mihoyo days, leave me alone) in terms of seeing who ships NeuviFuri more, we all lose. They literally paid people to do an ice dancing program in NeuviFuri cosplay, paid a guy to make a companion piece to Furina's song from Neuvillette's perspective and several other animations concerning their relationship in some way. But the Mihoyoverse shenanigans aside, it's the build up of 400+ years of working together, the care they still have for one another and yes the complementary abilities and color palettes. Not enough time in the day to talk about them, I don't think.

Almost thought I wouldn't have a gif for them, then I remembered THEY GOT A MOVIE. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is one of my favorite books in the world. I have reread it once a year religiously since 2017 when I first discovered it. This is such a beautiful novel and relationship and if you haven't had the pleasure of reading it or the sequel, please do yourself a favor and buy it or rent it from your local library. It's just, the way Ari has been in love with Dante for so long and didn't even realize it but it's so, so clear to the reader because of just how he talks and describes him? I don't even want to go to deep into this one just in case there's someone here that hasn't read this book because it deserves to be read and experienced blind. Just, just please y'all read it.

KYO KANEKO •

we know kyo is more of a tsundere type, so he probably just short circuits and doesn’t know how to react to your touch sometimes. i mean, having someone he loves that much right there holding his hand??! he just can’t handle it sometimes (in the best way possible). when he gets flustered by your touch, he’s most definitely just going to brush it off and quickly change the topic. when you kiss him, poor boy has to hide his entire face from how hard he’s blushing. when kyo is the one initiating physical touch, it’s a lot more teasing and playful, sometimes he just can’t help but kiss you all over your cute face! just don’t mention it to him later or he’ll short circuit again. if you want to snuggle on stream, kyo will, but if anyone in chat says anything about it, they get banned lmao

DOPPIO DROPSCYTHE •

he’s much more casual about it, but it still catches him off guard sometimes. he loves you more than anything, so he’s sure to give you lots of hugs and kisses and cuddles all the time! his love language is also touch so you can bet you and him are ALWAYS touching in some way. wether it be doppi’s arm around your shoulder or hip if he’s feeling extra scandalous that day, or just holding hands, he’s always so happy to be around you and spend time with his amazing s/o! the disciplinarian is very strong, so sometimes he enjoys just carrying you around! when doppio is the one initiating touch, it’s usually when he’s streaming (this is like an au where the character is a real person and just streams w/ facecam if that makes sense)! he just wants to snuggle with you while he plays games! if you fall asleep on stream, doppi is most definitely going to ramble to chat about how adorable you are!

IKE EVELAND •

he’s really shy about it at first, but he slowly comes around to it. he’s a very introverted person, so you actually wanting to spend time with him and always holding his hand and snuggling into his side or shoulder really gets him off guard sometimes. but god he loves it once he gets used to it. surprisingly, ike is usually the one initiating it now! he just can’t help himself when you’re so adorable and precious and he just loves kissing you so SO much! he loves napping with you too! wether it be you laying on top of him or him just hugging you tightly in his sleep, ike absolutely loves waking up to see you right there. he can’t help but shower you in kisses when you wake up from your shared nap! he’s sorry, you’re just so precious! cuddling on stream is an absolute YES!! he wants everyone to see how much he loves you!

INFORMATION FOR TAG LURKERS / PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS :

our goal is to involve new people in the group as much as possible. there are many open & wanted spaces, especially for roles. at the moment, we are searching for :

MEMBERS OF THE ORDER OF THE SCARLET NIGHTMARE, specifically the recruiter & job positions filled for the single carrot theater

for every new member that joins, you will have the opportunity to be included in the follow-up to this plot drop. this means every new member will have a role in the plot drop.

HOW SELECTION WORKS :

generally, we have written the plot drop & its injuries / transpirations with what we’ve come to know about the muse(s) who were randomly selected in mind & their previous threads. however, if we ever dictate an action that you deem ill-fitting of your muse, you can ignore it entirely or ask for an amendment you deem most fitting. we want this to be fun & what we write is only meant to be the starting point.

our selection was entirely random for part of the plot drop, but some muses were determined through hand-picked selections. we always use a random team generator to determine who will receive injuries or starter lottery. we have over seventy muses & bars in place to keep some from being picked too many times consecutively. 

major injuries & death, if any, are hand-selected on the basis of the butterfly effect this time, per our notes about the plot progressions, individual & group-centric, of muses. we keep track of these as much as we can & take note of anything significant that could be utilized.

our major plot points this time were hand-selected based on prior plot progressions or discussions. writers selected for major plot points will sit out for the plot drop call for our halloween special.

for fairness, any one muse who has been selected at random three times for a plot drop in a row will sit out the next random selection. there are no triple crown muses at this time.

THE GUIDELINES FOR MEMBERS & THREADS :

the first open starter will be our icebreaker. after that, please abide the starter rule ! please only post open starters that pertain to the plot drop at this time & follow the in-game dates provided below !

you may still post exclusives outside of the realm of the plot drop and/or continue older threads.

AUTUMN IS IN THE AIR IN ANCHORAGE — as is the consistent fog rolling in from the harbor to cloak the docks and the streets in hours undisturbed by heavy foot traffic. the solemnity has disturbed archaic spirits, if you believe in the supernatural. you know what they say about WALKING UNDER LADDERS. whether or not superstition is to be believed, it came true & caught up to one unlucky customer in criminal records one september midday. as fingers explored the spines of vinyl during a flash sale, a ladder descends from the storage loft above & begins a relentless assault on estelle de chagny. witness to the horror was haerin mae-nava'i, min kim & kyo ha-sun, but they were unable to reel it in on their own. a surgeon, bastien moreau, on the scene was able to identify the fallen damsel as suffering a mild spinal compression fracture ... oh, & you remember what your mother said about STEPPING ON CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALK, right ?? THE FUNK OF FORTY-THOUSAND YEARS HAS BEEN SLOWLY SEEPING FROM THE SEWERS outside of single carrot theatre. the city council has been turning a blind eye to the town's burgeoning sewer system problem. each year, the steady rains of autumn begin to fill up the grates. during an intermission of the opening night for casanova on september 27th, a lone actress ventures for a quick breath of fresh air. careless, angelique jackson perches over the noxious sewer grate. without warning, a blood-curdling scream cuts through the air. she realizes that the vibrato is beneath the soles of her feet & as she bends down to inspect it, a FACE emerges from the water near to its surface & wraps ghastly fingers around the grate. before the eyes of the theatre's star attraction, the face morphs from adisorn tayen's to that of monique jackson, the virago letting out a wail, "HELP ME !!!" in a fit of panic, angelique shoves the head of her twin underneath the water until the spasming & contorting of limbs stops. bubbles froth to the surface, & when she dares to look again, whatever it was has disappeared. i guess she crossed A BLACK CAT IN THE ROAD RECENTLY. A MYSTERIOUS FELINE FORGED OF CHARCOAL & INK SPILLS perches in mei ruan's lap as they reside over the closing discussion of september's book club, two days later. rain pounds against the windows, begging for a front row seat as they all ( blue nataphon maes, bryn ravencroft, sol-ip boo, freya chen & sky chun ) turn their pages to the author's note in the thriller novel. the words have been scribbled over in a crude red. it smells like corn syrup & it's still wet ... each book has the same word : DUCK, DUCK, DUCK, DUCK, DUCK ... a folded-up slip of paper from the front cover of thriller novella order of death slips its way to taeyoung yoon's side of the table at joker's casino, taped to the face of a joker card. AJAX, HOW ABOUT A LITTLE GRUNT WORK TO GET YOU BACK IN THE GROOVE ? RELEASE ALL THE ANIMALS FROM THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH … - SCARLET. on the first evening of october, happy villagers vet clinic is silent except for the distant symphony of restless patients. eliana moschetti is working alone at three in the morning to finish a slew of important paperwork when she hears unidentified objects clattering to the floor ... initially, she thinks it is one of the mannequin models tipping over. as she opens the door to the backroom, the cacophony reaches a fugue as the cats & dogs & miscellaneous small animals erupt from their cubbies, rampaging through the building. knocked over, she sustains minor scratches & fights to get back on her feet. amidst collecting supplies in futile effort to contain the runaway animals, a scalpel pierces through the palm of her hand. vet technicians were befuddled when the offending scalpel in question had disappeared the next morning ...

First I want to say I love the Terry stuff you've posted recently. But it made me think how Kyo was kind of meant to be the face of SNK fighting games and the crossovers(opposite Ryu usually) but now its Terry who has taken that spot for SF6 and Capcom Fighting Collection 2. Why do you think the change happened in your opinion? Do you think Smash Bros had any hand?

I wouldn't be surprised if introducing more of SNK through Smash helped attract more people, but also given Terry's recent reveal in SF6 they're probably also trying to push more of that DLC through the Fighting Collection 2's promotional art.

But I have to add, Terry has existed longer than Kyo and iirc was also intended to be a mascot for the company. Even if we were to look at Smash in the first place, why did they choose Terry instead of Kyo?

To me, there is something about Terry personally that seems to be openly appealing to others, even before getting to a bigger audience.

I first saw Terry through a game I didn't even play, let alone closely pay attention to. But how come I still remember him specifically? Why do I find him interesting? Well he's got a cool hat. He's got a recognizable overall figure that's further accentuated with his long ponytail. Also he's really loud. I can still remember all his ridiculous ~American~ shouting as it was exclaimed in CAPCOM vs. SNK 2.

He screams iconic to me, which is very effective for someone to represent you among the rest of a large group. And I wouldn't be surprised if newcomers from Smash and after felt the same way.

I've snooped around the threads for Terry's reveal for SF6 and there are still people new to him making similar impressions like "Wow, he's so cool!" or "He seems like a nice guy!". There's definitely something on top of Terry's image that is making him click so well.

Which isn't to say Kyo doesn't have these things. But I think Terry's particular combination really make him stand out much more.

Tengen comes home to a frenzied mess in the kitchen. Bowls and spoons of various sizes litter the island countertop, there’s about five mangled eggshells piled onto a paper towel, and there’s flour absolutely everywhere.

“Tengen!” Kyojuro— also covered in flour— greets him.

“Happy birthday!” He opens his arms like he’s presenting a gift, but there’s nothing except the evidence of what has to be a culinary nightmare. Smeared frosting is clinging to one of his cheeks, but his hands are suspiciously clean.

“Is the ransacked kitchen my gift?”

“No!” Kyo directs his hands to a purple limp on the counter. “I made you a cake!”

The cake is… well, it’s a cake. Uneven purple frosting sits heavy on the lopsided cake, and the words “happy birthday Tengen” are piped in wobbly green letters on the top. There’s candles sticking out of every free space around the message, crammed onto the cake like sardines in a can, and rainbow sprinkles desperately cling to the sides, falling off in clumps.

“I made it from scratch!” Kyo says, beaming with pride. He wipes his forehead with his forearm and leaves a trail of flour in it’s wake. “I kept cracking the eggs too hard—“ he gestures to the sorry pile of eggshells— “but I’ll buy more tomorrow!”

The cake probably tastes terrible, as Kyojuro isn’t exactly known for his baking abilities. But he looks so happy, and he probably spent hours making everything from scratch and putting it all together. Hot tears prick at the back of Tengen’s eyes; his birthday has always been bittersweet, a contradiction of guilt and joy. In front of others he acts just as energetic as always, but the moment he’s alone his mood always plummets.

Not today, though. Today his home is full and warm with love, and his wonderful husband’s smile is sunlight on his soul, and he doesn’t feel so bad, after all.

Tengen wipes the flour off of Kyo’s head with his sleeve before kissing it, and says, “What are we waiting for, then? Let’s eat!”

They don’t bother cutting the cake. Why dirty more plates when it’ll be gone by the end of the night, anyway?

There’s a significant amount of resistance when Tengen pushes his fork into the cake, and when he puts it in his mouth it’s so dense that it takes him almost a full minute to swallow.

“Wow,” Kyo says. “That’s terrible!”

Somehow through his laughter Tengen replies, “It’s not that bad! It could definitely be worse… somehow!”

They still finish the cake, laughing the entire time. He may still feel the shadow of guilt and grief swirling in his chest, but he can bask in Kyojuro’s warmth and let his light chase away all his demons, at least for tonight.
