Nightengale
Kyean to Nahi: Check your armor, there is a loose band under your arm.
Nahi to Pathyn: Why are you telling him about my clothes?
Pathyn to Nahi: Not me this time, Nightengale. He has a new assistant.
Nahi to Pathyn: But you are the only one that tolerates him. And Nightengale?
Pathyn to Nahi: He made a new friend. She is pretty awesome actually. He started calling you it and it stuck with him and I.
Nahi to Pathyn: So he is sending a new lover to spy on me?
Pathyn to Nahi: Not a lover… just talk to him okay? He needs to make sure you are alright.
Nahi to Pathyn: Be safe out there.
Kyean sat and watched Nahi on her comms trying not to be jealous that she would rather talk to his cousin. Yet, he was patient. He could wait for a bit before trying something new.
Nahi to Kyean: Having someone spy on me is no less creepy of you.
Ah, there was that sass he enjoyed.
Kyean to Nahi: I figured you would not reach out willingly. I am not above bribing your commander for news.
Nahi to Kyean: You did not!!
Nahi to Kyean: You didn’t. I know because the Commander and other people in the camp would tell me to get it fixed. You are so full of it.
Kyean to Nahi: Maybe they are too busy to notice, but you need to get it checked. Take it to someone now and ask.
By the Gods she was smart, picking up his bluff so quickly, it made her even hotter. He watched her take off her armor and check the strap, good. Then she picked up her comm.
Nahi to Kyean: How did you know? Who is your spy?
Kyean to Nahi: I met this person and they have been checking out camps so I asked them to check on you for me. Before you yell at me, I was worried after the other night and she said she would be happy to look in on you as she scouted camps.
Nahi to Kyean: The other night? You mean the attack on the camp? I am alright, it freaked me out.
She lifted her armor, sitting down where she was and placing it in her lap with what he assumed was a sort of resignation.
Kyean to Nahi: And how do you feel now?
It took her a few minutes to reply.
Nahi to Kyean: I don’t know. I don’t even know how I should feel.
Kyean to Nahi and Pathyn: Nahi was saying she isn’t sure how she is supposed to feel after the skirmish they were in. I think she should hear this from both of us.
Nahi to Group: You are such a bossy asshole. You know that right? Like there I am confiding in you and you tell someone else.
Pathyn to Group: You are both right, but I get what Kyean is saying. You already get defensive with him so this conversation might be better between the three of us. With how things are we don’t know when we could all get together so this is as close as we can get. Kyean… you a a fucking asshole, you want her to talk to you then you get a moment alone with her, in this medium, and you text me.
Kyean to Group: Nahilvi, we both care about you and I worried you might let my advice roll off you just because of who we are. Did you get hurt?
Nahi to Group: I understand why you did it, but I may not talk to you alone again. No, well a little, cut my hands up on a piece of a nerubian’s leg when I was trying to pull it out of a woman. Also… nerubian guts splattering over you is gross.
Kyean to Group: If that is the cost of putting your mind at ease, then I will take it. And anything’s guts spilling over you is gross, nerubians are a bit more gross though.
Nahi to Group: I hate it when you are reasonable.
Pathyn to Group: Same girl, but he would offer this same advice if you just worked with us, we have had this talk a lot. First off, did you get your hands healed?
Nahi to Group: Yeah, once things calmed a little. I ended up working with the healers and once everything that really needed a healer to handle they took care of my hands. The woman died though.
Kyean to Group: It is hard having people die around you, but I would imagine that part you already know from before, and those were people you knew. The thing I wanted to say for Pathyn to back me on, is that there is no set way to feel after battle.
Pathyn to Group: Tell us what happened.
Nahi to Group: A light went out in the camp next to us so the Commander called to everyone to help get as many people into our camp as possible. They did amazing work saving people then those of us in camp took the injured to the healers, or settled others out of the way of the fight. I tried to help a woman right at the edge of the light but she was pinned to the ground by a nerubian just out of my vision when I went to help her. Dicenne, the man that suggested I talk to the Commander to see if he would take me, saw the danger and killed the Nerubian, I pulled out the leg that was still in her and the serrated edges cut my hands. Spent the rest of the night helping the healers.
Kyean grits his teeth trying to keep from yelling at her, or Pathyn for allowing her to be here, but he knew that wasn’t fair at all. She had a right to this as much as anyone, just because he wanted to protect her as he hadn’t in Tempest Keep wasn’t even a rational thought. Yes, he had the hots for her, and would have her against a wall again any time, but she was going to have to warm to him in that way before he could suggest anything like that. Even then she might shoot him down.
And this Dicenne, who the fuck tells an inexperienced woman to fight with a mercenary crew? And why did she take his advice? Were they fucking? Irrational anger flared through him.
So, what was there about her that made him go all feral in the head? **Because she is a sexy piece of ass? Because she might like Pathyn more than you? Because you wanted more than a quick fuck from her even then?** His demon wasn’t wrong on any of the points and the second just made him feel shitty. Why wouldn’t she like Pathyn more? Kye had been an overbearing dick since she came back into his life and she would not take being bullied well. **You could have the human…** ‘Not on your life, you just want me in her so the link between you and Saxori will become deeper. I do not want demon sex talk in my head, thank you.’ **You would rather be a peeping tom, classy**
Kyean to Group: It could have been much worse, Nahi. I am glad you are safe.
Pathyn to Group: Kyeanadril is right. You do not have to feel any particular way about death or battle.
Nahi to Group: But shouldn’t I feel something?
Kyean to Group: How do you mean?
Nahi to Group: When I was told she died all I could think was that a lot, of people died. She was not even a member of the company, I *think* that may have bothered me more.
Kyean to Group: If you did not have a strong connection you may not really need to feel anything.
Pathyn to Group: No you don’t have to feel anything for her. Did you do everything you could to save her?
Nahi to Group: I did, I was maybe a little too reckless, but I did try.
Pathyn to Group: Then you have no further obligation to her. Some people might have guilt at not saving her, but it is perfectly healthy to say you did your best. You might have felt worse if you didn’t try to save her.
Nahi to Group: I suppose so. She isn’t even the focus of my nightmares.
Pathyn to Group: Nightmares huh? Do you want to talk about them?
Nahi to Group: I am talking with a healer here who is a therapist. He has me writing down my dreams.
Kyean let them go on, this was something Path was better at then he was, and maybe more so with her, even if he wanted to be her source of comfort. **Sexy piece of ass…** Shut the fuck up.
Pathyn to Group: Is it helping?
Nahi to Group: Yes, I think. A lot of his talk is going back in time now. Like… isn’t it cliche for him to ask about my mom?
Pathyn to Group: Yes but not really. This woman I know that is a therapist says that a lot of what people face and how they react is built in from childhood.
Kyean to Group: Is that the Draenei you bang?
Nice going, try to make him seem involved when you know he isn’t, dick move.
Pathyn to Group: Yes, and we both enjoy it when we manage to see each other, asshole.
Nahi to Geoup: Aannnyyywaaayyyy….I have been talking to him some.
Kyean wantched as ….. rolled on his screen from her comm and he assumed Pathyn was doing the same since he hadn’t replied.
Nahi to Group: You guys don’t mind if I reach out now and then to talk about this stuff?
Pathyn to Group: Even to him?
Kyean to Group: Even to me?
Nahi to Group: Definitely not to you Kye. You can’t keep your mouth shut.
Kyean sighed from where he watched her… good job asshole.
(@Dicenne for mention)

@Daily-Writing-Challenge - May 2024 - Day 2 - Embrace (oh look I posted two days in a row, go me)
(Fair warning, really long)
(Written as an ongoing growth arc with my warlock, Deiala Vyneaniux. Some might not make sense completely not knowing her background, but overall enough to understand)
Dei stopped in at her book shop to get books she thought would be good for reading to Eli, certainly something more interesting than the Elven ship craft of pre-war Feralas. The book was what Dei had in her bag when she got the news about her friend being injured and what she had been reading to her since. It likely was part of the reason Eli was sleeping so much.
Picking a couple titles off the shelves, she turned when the bell on the door chimed. An Illidari ducked under the doorframe and turned immediately to face Dei with a smile. He was a large man, easily over eight and a half feet with shoulders wider than her door frame and was the reason Dhes and Ewan’s size did not phase her much, the man was also drop dead gorgeous.
The shop owner did not *entirely* lose her composure but she cleared the distance to him in a few strides, he bent to hug her and lifted her off the ground to the surprise of Dei’s slack jawed assistant. “You *look* good,” he said with a shit eating grin on his face
“You always say that,” she replied tartly, “and we both know it is not true.”
“Au contraire, pretty lady, I mean it every time I say it, and I do not need standard sight to see the truth of you. If I were ten thousand years younger, and didn’t have a demon living in my body I would sweep you away. Wait…. How do you feel about older men?” The Illidari still had her held off the ground, “I guess the second point still stands hmmm?”
Dei remained with her arms around his neck, no reason to let go, not like he was going to just drop her because she was too heavy, “What are you doing in town? I thought you were off hunting down some random group of fel beasties in the middle of nowhere.”
He snarled and it would have been frightening for most, but Dei just laughed, “Treat my job like a joke will you? I should put you over my knee…” He smirked, “Or take you and dump you in the pond behind your house.”
“When did I disparage your job Kyeanadril? You did very important work rounding up those five little imps last time.” Dei said with mock seriousness.
“That’s it woman,” he tossed Dei over his shoulder. “You there,” he pointed at Dei’s assistant, “watch the store while Vyeaniux goes swimming.”
“Don’t you dare! I will tell your demon the secrets I know!” It was a true mock threat, the demon knew everything he did anyway. “Kyean! Kyean!” She said his name with no little horror in her tone, before he ducked through the door and leapt up into the air.
He did not angle them towards her house though, he took her up past the waterfall on the north side of the city before he landed and set her on her feet.”Sorry about that, we need to talk. You do look good though, your energies seem very mixed but it feels as though you have more life to you.”
Dei walked over to a rock and sat on it, this had been ‘their’ place to talk after Brendan’s death. Whenever the Kaldorei was in town he came by and they would talk demons for hours. There was nothing inappropriate and he didn’t even come by enough for her to consider him a good friend, often they just exchanged information and he would head out. “It has been an interesting eight months or so… what was so important we couldn’t talk at the store?”
“You know we can’t talk about *things* there, this is no different. I have been in the city for a few days but you were out of the store when I walked by, where have you been?” He asked her bluntly.
“A friend got hurt, I have been sitting with her at the clinic for that group I told you I joined?” There was a hint of a whirlwind of her emotions that spun there, fear, anger, frustration, pain, worry, caring and sadness, “Her boyfriend and I have been taking visits in shifts, though he is there a lot more than I am, as is proper.”
A rumbled ‘hmmm’ came from deep in his chest. “You need to take care.”
With a tip of her head she reached out to him with a little magic, kind of a ‘does your demon have control’ check that he always allowed her, her lack of trust in demons was clear to any that spoke to her about them. She saw nothing to worry about in him though so she went ahead and asked, “Take care? Why?”
“Since I have been in the city and passing by your shop, I have sensed demonic energy along the street there, more than there should be,” the Illidari said.
“They let Man’ari into the city, there is more demon dust everywhere, I almost can’t walk outside without sneezing like a bad allergy.” Dei excused his overreaction.
He frowned at her, “Do not make me truly put you over my knee.”
Her time with Rurik, and the opening of her memories with Kharon, had her offering up a sexy answer before she could rein it back in, “What if I like it?” She had no clue if she truly did or not, but Kharon’s image of her in her mind certainly did.
Bright green flared from behind his glasses, so did his nostrils, “What did you say?”
“You heard me,” her voice was not nearly as self-assured when she said that. Dei had never seen this intensity from him.
“Do not tell a man that unless you really want to find out, Deiala. What kind of business is this anyway that teaches you such things? You said they were a shipping and acquisitions company, which I took to mean piracy and theft.”
The bookstore owner looked at him quizzically, “Find out.. but you…” she didn’t push her luck. “That is what they are, just sometimes they play these games, and there was this man I liked.” Kyean did not know about Kharon’s invasion of her dreams when she was seventeen, if anyone knew how to go through a demonic gateway and find someone it would be him and she wasn’t sure she wanted that kind of resolution for the man Dei had defended herself from.
“Ah, finally a boyfriend, but you said was, and there was a sad tone plus your energy drained from you completely.”
She couldn’t lie to him when he asked her something directly and never did. He was too good at what he just did, “Was, he possibly was a spy, not sure the more time passes that I believe that, but the company does and I think that had I pushed against them too hard they would have stopped trusting me.” Another thing to gloss over, along with her nightmares and the dragon issues.
The huge man looked at her, really *looked* with his spectral sight, “Anyone that doesn’t trust you is a fool. You are so smart and you hold to your oaths like a rock face holds an ore deposit. How is Saxori?”
He was the only one that knew about the Man’ari her mentor had locked in a way long ago, and that was because Brendan had trusted him, not Dei, Dei trusted no one with that secret. Kyean had been a frequent visitor in her youth and many conversations were had between him and the demon. In fact, Kyean helped build the cage she lived in, “She is good, still a little too familiar, but she has been teaching me to dance.”
“Why do you need to le… never mind, we are off track, you always do that, I start with something uncomfortable and you let it chase its own tail until I have lost track of what I was asking. No warren tunnels for you little bunny.” He took her chin in his hand, “Do you really like spankings?” His tone was deep, sonorous and dropped into a growl at the end.
“I don’t know…” she frowned at him for talking about her sex life, “now who is changing the subject? What about this demonic presence?”
He leaned in and sniffed her, “Ah but the idea intrigues.” A surprised look crossed his face then he cleared his throat from the dry tone it had taken. “I have felt it since I came to the city but more near your shop. Have you been letting demons in?”
Dei snapped her answer harshly, “No!”
“Alright… alright… I didn’t think you changed that much but had to check. Yes, there are demons everywhere now, not just in the Lamb and the district around it, but near your street it is heavier, and it lingers. Any demons about recently, maybe some that tested your wards?” The question was reasonable so she could not get grumpy at his big brother protectiveness.
Thinking about his question for more than a moment, “Nothing I can think of.” Yet as she said it she realized it wasn’t entirely true.
He continued to stare at her, usually it was a friendly look but there was new, tighter, focus on her and she wasn’t sure what it was, must be the worry about the demonic traces. “There is a woman in the company, she has a ‘friend’ who is a Man’ari and has been doing deals with people I work with.”
“Do they not know how dangerous that is?l”
“They know, I told them so… in short words even the dumbest of them could understand.” Dei offered, “But maybe that is who you are sensing.”
Kyean shook his head, “Fel girl… you sure you want to stay there? That is a whole lotta trouble you don’t need, considering.”
He really had no idea as she wasn’t talking about dragons or time travel, just people who *might* deal with demons was enough of a threat to what she did, “I have made friends, at least a couple.”
“Did these friends have something to do with the boyfriend situation? Because I can’t imagine you backing down if someone told you what to do in that circumstance unless you really valued their opinion.” He watched her energy drop again so he pushed, “Have you been sleeping?”
What one thing had to do with the other in his mind she would never know, what it did in hers made her sad all over again. “They had something to do with it, yes.” Dei left it at that, “Not really, though I have some new medication one of our healers makes. Hoping it will help.”
He looked almost through her “But you haven’t taken it becuase you have been staying at this clinic.” He didn’t need her agreement as he knew the answer. “You are not going to the clinic tonight. I am taking you for food, then we go back to your place and talk. Whatever demons that are around won’t dare to act while I am,” he said and offered her his hand.
Dei took it and didn’t grump at him, she was tired and having him there would surely help her sleep, it was only when her house was empty that the nightmares came. “Fine, I will send a message to the clinic and I can cook.”
The Illidari looked at Dei, her outline had this stubborn tilt to her chin. When had she grown from that mouse child who gave in to anything Brendan told her, to this? Her spirit was glowing and it was strong, and he liked it. It would help her survive in this world. Demons would challenge her throughout her life, she held too many secrets that many would do anything to possess. Somehow Brendan raised a good Keeper of knowledge, one that may surpass her old mentor.
The demon in Kyean was thrashing at his bindings to wrest control, but the Illidari’s iron will kept a handle on the situation. What was it that made it test its bonds now? It hadn’t done that in years. He had spent much time with the woman even back when she was a child, but now there was an intense fascination from within him that was making him uneasy.

Black Blood
“WE HAVE TO GET HER!” The Illidari growled at his cousin, fel green orbs shining brightly from behind the cloth he wore to shield others from how they looked. He began to draw his warglaives and was only stopped by Pathyn weaving shadow around his chest and arms.
The rogue faced down the larger man, “We can’t get in there, we need to hold our position here, you know the call will come any moment for us to attack. If we don’t then all of this could fall, her camp included.”
“FUCK YOU! You said she was like a sister, we can’t just let this go. You should have stopped her, WE should have stopped her.” A sharp crack sounded and Pathyn made a ball of shadow explode in front,of his cousin’s face.
“Like a sister, because she can’t be my sister,” he meant it to be cruel. He needed his cousin on his game and he had never seen Kyeanadril like this.
Ky snarled at Pathyn, his teeth snapping in frustration. “I know, I know more than about anyone, I am what I am now because of Melenisse’s loss. Now you want me to stand by while another sister is obliterated? We have to get to her.”
Path’s youngest sister had been taken in Ashenvale to be a sacrifice for a group of satyrs, both of the men arriving too late. Ky would have ripped his own heart out in his attempt to save her life if that was what it took, but it wouldn’t have changed anything, so he then ripped all the demons he could reach apart. Between the cousins, death fell on that camp like a summer downpour and nothing with a demonic presence remained. It was that night that the Druid with the hero complex had sworn to stop the Legion at all costs, that cost ended up being what he was now.
It took all his control of shadow to keep the blockhead contained. “Come on Kyean, you and I both know the best chance those out there have is if we get in and do our hero shit. Stop thinking of the skirmish and remember the battle.” It was unlike his cousin to be like this, it felt like something was wrong.
“It is the black blood,” the haranir next to them said quietly. The woman had showed up and led them up onto the cliff perch that they were on now, but she hadn’t said more than ten words since meeting them.
Pathyn looked at her and tipped his head, “What do you mean?”
Her face was turned to watch over the land beneath them, pointedly not looking at either of the cousins as she replied, “It changes you, it makes you more violent. He is not thinking, he is heart driven and the answer to him is to kill everything that is a threat to this woman.”
“Ah, I see,” Path said and then walked in front of his cousin and sighed. Kyean had quieted down and was at least listening. “You are out of control with this influence, Ky We are both already bloodthirsty but you have to think… fuck I am going to hate this….”
His eyes unfocused slightly and he centered his magic before he spoke, “Ilokar, you fucking nasty beast in there with him. If he dies, you die, if he goes down there, he might die. Help him keep locked down, at least speak to the fucker.”
There was almost a hint of humor when Kyean spoke next, “You are asking my demon to help me be in control?”
It seemed like it had worked at least a little, just the fact that his cousin wasn’t frothing at the mouth was a good thing, “You know the reputation of the company she is with. Even if that was their light they will protect their own.”
“She doesn’t know what the fuck she is doing,” Ky replied, not fighting the bonds the rogue still had him in.
Pathyn nodded, “She doesn’t. Neither did we the first time we went out and we didn’t have a whole company to protect us, just Sysvien.”
Kyean growled again, family was not a good place to tread for him, “And she was a trained Sentinel, and in the end that didn’t even save even her.”
“It’s a good company.” He said simply, then, “Can you see her energy down there? I know you have been spying on her.”
The Illidari ‘looked’ past him and down over the camps that had been set up and went quiet then growled softly. “Yes, there is fighting down there.”
Path tipped his head but it was the haranir that spoke, “There is fighting everywhere, will you sacrifice what we are doing to save one person? Is she your mate?”
“No.” Kyean snarled softly.
“He wishes,” Pathyn said.
Ky focused on him, “Shut it.”
The rogue sighed, “Just watch, if you see her energy start to fade or flare, or whatever it does when you know someone is in danger, then you can sweep in like some dark, avenging Kyrian. Until then we do what we have been sitting up here and waiting for our time to strike, maybe our purposes will even align, but this black blood shit might even mess with your bond, we don’t know anything.” He decided not to pull his punches just because he needed his cousin’s focus back. “What if you go down there and Ilokar can use whatever this is to take control? Who will be the first person he makes you kill?”
That made Kyeanadril straighten, “Fuck you, I am in control.”
“Are you though?” He nodded to the bonds he still held his cousin in.
The sigils that sat in the center of Kyean’s eyes flared and, even through the linen that covered them, Pathyn could see them clearly. “Fine, fuck you. Let me go. I will watch, not like I wasn’t watching this whole fucking death zone anyway.”
Drawing his shadows back, Pathyn saw Ky settle into his own dark place on the shelf and in his mind. With a nod to the haranir Path took all the magic he had been using on his cousin back, gathering them around his body like a cloak.

[Anon Day] If she could take that leap and be with Pathyn, would she? They seem to really care for one another.
Pathyn and I might be on different… paths,” she grins wickedly. “Yes, that was a good, bad, joke, but it is the truth as well. We care a lot about each other but he also cares about Kyeanadril as he should.”
The grin fades quickly, and her eyes close, there actually had been a growing friendship between her and the Illidari, maybe if he hadn’t been so intensely attracted to her. “Kyean is his cousin and we shared a passionate night once, due to horrible events, we spent fifteen years with him thinking I was dead. The moment he saw me again it set in motion a weird connection, more on his side than mind.”
Rubbing a hand high across her forehead at her hairline, then slipped her fingers into the curls with a deep exhale. “He began watching over me, to a point where he was hovering at the edge of camp in Hallowfall and was caught by one of our scouts.” Lifting her other hand, both massaging her scalp over her ears, the whole story giving her a headache. “The commander confronted his company and then told me that if Kyean was seen near the camp again the scouts could shoot him and I would be fired. That did not end up with us remaining friends.”
“Pathyn said that there are things I should hear about what happened from Kyean’s side, but I am still too angry.” Nahi’s jaw set tightly, back teeth clenching, all the emotions had run through her to a point of exhaustion in the retelling, “Maybe one day I will be ready, but not yet.”
“Sadly, that puts Pathyn and I in a predicament that can’t be solved by me just taking a leap. We recently discussed our attraction and he just can’t be the person that comes between Kyean and I, even if it is only one sided, that one side is not only his cousin, but his closest friend since childhood.” She gave one of those one shouldered shrugs that aimed for indifference but would be telling of something deep in her mind to someone that knew her, “I would not ask that of him either. I have never had a connection like that, but if I did I would not want it jeopardized over something that might not last. Oh Light, can you imagine if he was bad in bed? Or stole the covers? Or… oh my goodness, if he left his socks on during sex?”
(Thank you for the question anon)

Dei - WTFel Did Kyean Do?
Deiala was in Dornogal, the place she didn’t expect, or want, to be but here she was. On a good note she was book shopping, there was SOOO much information that she wanted. Already she had sent a few crates back to the city and hired a scavenger duo to go and see if they could uncover any books from the wreckage. She already had bought a handful that were damaged and planned on restoring them if she could.
She was not sure she could go beneath the surface though, even here she could feel the void like it was crawling through the ground to try and drag her down. Every step she took she wondered when it would ooze through the cracks and grab her ankles, or that each shadow was going to become a cultist to take her to Kharon.
If she hadn't been afraid for her friend she would have remained in Stormwind trying to figure out how to permanently keep herself safe from Kharon and his people. This void corruption was only going to make him stronger and while there were other priorities in the people around her, she had to remain steadfast to keep herself safe,
From up above her she heard a familiar voice that descended down to land next to her. “Deiala Vyeaniux, what the fel do you think you are doing on this island? Did you decide to just make yourself a tasty little treat in a place where Kharon and his followers could just gorge themselves upon?”
“No, I decided to allow a friend to startle my heart into stopping so my being taken is no longer a problem.” Dei snapped at Kyean and his brows rose over the linen.
“I thought we agreed to your remaining back in Stormwind?” He asked.
The head with its beautiful accents of blue, green and purple bright in the sun tipped up to face him. “Plans change when the fucking demon that has been making deals with my company calls my lead and three others down into the depths to hopefully recover someone.” Hands clenched into fists, “I was working with Saxori on our plans and came up from below, imagine my surprise when I checked over the comm messages?”
Kyean shook his head, “Girl, why are you in this company of fools?”
“Why are you above ground, last you messaged me you were going to face the nerubians down deep?” Dei asked.
The large man sighed and spoke in a low rumble, “I fucked up.”
Dei tipped her head, taking his clawed hand and leading him to a small wall looking over the green landscape around them. “Spill.” It wasn’t a statement, but more of a command.
Hearing that word and the command reached into him and grasped his demon, that had never happened before and Ilokar snarled within him. “Don’t… do… that…” it was all he could do to stop the nathrezim from yanking control to kill Dei.
She looked confused and shook her head, “What?”
“I don’t know if it is because you are rattled or pissed at this man’ari but demanding something with your intention behind it, is dangerous.” He stated simply but didn’t go deeper with that since he decided that could be dangerous knowledge at this very moment. “Perfume girl, Nahilvi, is new to fighting and joined a company so I was trying to watch over her when I could.”
“So you were watching her? Did she know?”
“No,” he grumbled.
Dei paused and blinked, “Isn’t that defined as stalking?”
He snorted, “Fuck you.”
“Wait… Nahilvi? As in the Silver Banshee? The singer? Wow, I saw her this summer, she is… whoa she is as stunning as her voice. I got a recording of some of her songs to dance to.” She looked over at him, “Oh my, when you shoot for the stars, you really shoot for the stars.”
The Illidari seemed to slump, “Yes, that is her, and my cousin agrees with you on that description. Fuck Dei… the moment I slipped into the caverns it felt like I was haywire. I was fixated on her and so very, very angry about anything, everything. One of the people that live down there called it black blood, it creates violence.”
Taking a few deep breaths before she asked, “Is that part of the void corruption?”
“Yeah, at least that is what the people down there think. Not sure any of our people have confirmed it, but man you should meet the Haronir, Dei. They are so cool, and they have so much knowledge from down there.” For a man out of control he sure sounded pretty good.
The landscape called to her and she looked over it quietly, just taking time to digest and decided to skip talks of the void and demons. “So, how did she figure you out? And you already knew she didn’t want someone overbearing and protective, you are not dumb, this black blood is all that?”
The pause seems fine to Kye too, but he was still slumped forward, “Their camp scout spotted me.”
She turned and looked at him, “You? You got caught?”
“That black blood shit gets people killed. I was so angry that she was down there not listening to me, then there was a battle at her camp so I started just checking on her once in a while.”
“Once in a while?” She asked.
The dark man lowered his head more, “I checked in when I was not fighting, when I was, I had a friend just look in, tell me if there was an issue. After I was found out a group of *really* good fighters came to our camp. The group she managed to get into a group that I would consider elite. How she got in is beyond me, she mentioned a man she knows, maybe that is how.” Even away from the cavern that made him grumble before continuing, “Her commander and the friend of mine that works with us talked, then he called for Nahi to come to our camp, told her that if I was found near their camp again she would be fired. She got really upset and told me I was close to ruining her attempt at doing something she was really proud of.” “You know she has a point, right? And being jealous of anyone in her life, even if they are lovers” Dei said and looked over at him. “I know you said the L word but…”
“I am not stupid. I know that and I was really working just to get her to like me first, then the fucking black blood.” Kyean said dejectedly.
Before Dei said anything his comm beeped, he checked it, then sat it aside with a *look* on his face. She watched him color deeper and tipped her head, “You need to take that?”
“No! Err no…” Kyean said and shook his head.
It beeped again and he shoved it into his pack. “Kyean take it, it is alright.”
“Just a text, I will get it later.” He said and started to fidget.
All of a sudden a velvet-y voice began to yell from his comm unit. “Kyeandril! You can not ignore me Pathyn gave me your override. You better pick up this moment.” He began to scramble to get it, “Kyeandril answer now or I will come and find you…”
Dei blinked, “Oh my goodness, is that your mother????”
He didn’t even answer and just took his pack and flew away.

Kyean - WTFel did Kyean Do?
Kyean to Nahi: Nahi? I am really sorry. I just… I was so wrong.
This Device is No Longer Accepting Messages
“Did she block you?” Pathyn asked him, actual sympathy in his voice. “Don’t destroy it, it is not the comms fault.”
Kyean growled and was about to just smash the device in his hand.
Pathyn repeated, “It is not the comms fault.” He paused and looked at his cousin, “What the fuck is in your head right now?”
“I want to burn it all down!” He closed his eyes though and sighed, “Nothing makes sense. How the fuck did I even get caught?”
“Your priorities are seriously fucked…” A woman’s voice said, “And this is not the place for you to fix it.” The didn’t really have a leader for their group, but Haylaessa was the oldest and most experienced of the group, she had also been the one to smooth the issue out with Dal’shula. Behind her walked the rest of the group, there was only one other man in the camp, Terrailian was bonded to three of the women in their little enclave. “You have to know how we feel about this, no disrespect to any woman is acceptable and your behavior has jeopardized our standing with other groups.”
Kye straightened, ready to fight then dropped his head. “You are right, their company is right, she is right… fuck even Pathyn is right.” He tried a little joke but it fell flat.
“Rukret says it is the black blood, it changes people.” Pathyn spoke about the Haronir scout that had been working with them. “Usually more violent, but with the controls he has to keep with what he is could be altering that to an unhealthy fixation.”
Hayla hummed then shook her head, “It doesn’t change anything, or maybe it solidifies it actually. Kyeanadril you are relieved from action until we can all trust your behavior again. You know that we struggled with your transformation, but you have proven yourself time and time again so we think this is an aberration.” She reached her hand out and clasped his arm, “Brother, leave this place. Cyonelle and Farnea have been recalled. Farnea wanted to come anyway, but we had no one free to work with her.”
He nodded his head, the sisters were cousins but a few times removed and he knew their skills, “Pathyn?”
“Am I relieved too?” His cousin asked, completely calm even if he was very clearly pissed.
“We want you to stay and work with Rukret. Her people don’t trust many and she already worked well with both of you.” The ex-Sentinel was speaking but the group behind her were nodding except for a couple of the women, they were radiating a different magic that let him know that they were very locked down. Of course they were pissed, their entire society did not support his treatment of Nahilvi.
Kyean nodded his head, “I will go above ground to see if I can help there until I can figure out what is going on.” It was all that needed to be said because he completely agreed with them, he wasn’t himself, so he packed his things and made his way to Dornogal.

Avoidance
Since the incident with Kyean, Nahi had been trying to just keep her head up and down at the same time. It sounds like that is in opposition but it isn’t, completing her assigned tasks exactly as they were given to her, then giving just a little more, not showing off but just continuing to show what she had told Kyean, what she was doing was important to her. All the while she was externally calm, making eye contact with others, doing her best to be positive and ignoring what other people might be saying.
Nahilvi wasn’t going to tuck her tail between her legs, she hadn’t asked Kyeanadril to do what he did, in fact she had told him more than once not to act like he was. He and Pathyn had been becoming her support system through all this though, people she could go to with her doubts, or just to have a little fun conversation. Iren was that for her before, but since she was hiding what she was doing, that was no longer an option. She really hadn’t realized how much she needed that outlet until she was laying on her bedroll, staring at the top of her tent and reaching for her comm because she was bursting with the need to blow apart the tension in her.
There had been a couple of back and forth exchanges with Pathyn since, not really apologies from him, because she wouldn’t have accepted them anyway he was not Kyean’s keeper, yet she also had that feeling that he could have prevented what happened somehow. That was underneath the conversations too, she sensed he was waiting for her to ask or accuse him of just that, maybe soon they would get past that, but for now, he weren’t doing more than checking in.
Camp would be moving soon, so she was helping prepare the medical tents, everything had a place so she was working with the others to get ready. The conversation with those working was easy, so far no one had really come to her about what happened and she appreciated that, but eventually someone would…
“You have been avoiding me,” a deep voice said from behind her. It had been bound to happen with where she was working.
Nahi turned her head and looked up at the stocky man, “I have.” No reason to lie, he understood these things from people’s behavior, and enough of her already to not even need to guess.
He crossed his arms and looked down his nose at her, “Do you think that is the best way to handle what has happened?”
It was still raw but she managed not to snap, “I have no clue how to really handle it, no more than I did, do, the other night.” Alright, so they were having this conversation with the others around, she supposed he figured this was the best way to get her willing to get away from people to talk, and he was right.
“Then it is time, come along,” Nahi closed her eyes for a moment, took a deep breath and stood up. She couldn’t force a smile, not that she had smiled much since she came back to the camp, so she just nodded to the others working with her and turned to follow her therapist.

Note
When was the last time she ignored a gut feeling and how did that turn out?
"I suppose that would have been when I decided that letting Kyeanadril get closer would be fine. Down deep I knew that it would only become messy but I was in the midst of so many changes that it felt nice to have him and his cousin to count on when I was confused. Even when he became a little more intense I thought it was a situation that was to be laughed off." "We met the day Tempest Keep fell and it seemed we both had some issues from that night. His was guilt over not staying and fighting, mine was that I couldn't do enough to keep me and mine safe, so when he stumbled back in all those feelings of guilt centered on me, maybe they had for a time for him, I don't know. All I knew was that he wanted very much to see where our meeting again might take us, while I was in the midst of all the safety I had built around me for years was being stripped away and I didn't want someone to protect me. I wanted, still want, to learn what I can do for myself." "Thanks for making me look at this, because I have been trying to push it away and ignore how it really made me feel since it happened."
