Dikken stor woffa Roma folki 🖤
Hey everyone, I’m trying to find other Roma people to connect with. I’m Romanichal and living in the US. I recently lost my grandfather who passed the heritage on to me when my dad skipped out.
When my great grandfather and other tribe members settled in the US, eugenics laws sterilized and murdered a large number of people I still hold dear. Those who were left either assimilated or laid low. We moved around a lot before finally settling in the middle of absolutely nowhere, and now with him gone, I miss having a community, even a small one.
If it matters, I’m 27, female. I speak Anglo-Romani and casually read palms.
This tell all goes against my better judgement, but what is a Roma without their people?

While searching for connections to my Romany/Gypsy/Traveller heritage I came across this image from York Castle Museum, only to discover that this wagon was originally built for my Great aunt and her husband in the late 1800s. I then discover that my Great grandmother (aunts sister) and her husband lived in this wagon and she gave birth to some of her children in it. This piece of our family heritage still exists today.
