in my head mike wheeler is the film bro cinephile of the party. hes a big brad pitt fan and fincher is his favorite director if you even care.. dirty dancing would be in his top 4 if he was honest. he went to see dune cause hes a scifi nerd, ended up hating it so much and complained about it to will but still gave it 2 stars cause it was pretty. did leave a very mean review. very critical rater but mostly leaves high ratings because he just doesn’t watch things he doesnt wanna see.

the thing is so good and he has a poster of it on his wall in canon so it felt right. it just feels wrong not to do ghostbusters (plus its one of my favorite movies…) and yall need to hear me out on brokeback 😭😭😭 ur telling me he wouldnt bawl his eyes out??? ur wrong. will byers is a jake gyllenhaal lover. he watches dirty dancing a lot for mike, and loves ghibli movies a lot. he cried during rain man. honest rater but doesnt take it too seriously, mostly 4/5 star ratings

rogue one because lucas has taste. its the best star wars movie, if u care. he would love how fun and goofy ghostbusters 2 is. in my head Wes Anderson is like the party’s claimed director and they all watch his movies together and do marathons because the weirdness, comedy, and emotional commentary is a perfect mix for them. so. bottle rocket. lucas’ favorite wes anderson is the grand budapest hotel if u wanted to know. he rates things pretty highly and isn’t super critical.

Karanachi, hand-holding 10 - happily doing everything with just one hand, if it means they don’t have to let go 😊

This is part of a Cherry Magic Thailand fic ask game I'm playing while the show airs. Send me a prompt from one of the lists and I'll write you a ficlet! Details are in this post.

Every time I went to write this prompt, I laughed. Out of all the characters I've written Karan/Kurosawa are probably the only ones who would do this to the most serious extent, in my opinion.

I hope you like what I came up with, Min!

I busted the word count on this one, but that's because the premise is silly enough it needed to be a little extra (just like Karan).

I'll never let you go

It still didn’t feel real for Achi. Karan would look at him in the office now, really look at him without trying to hide it. He would say things - things about Achi that he’d learned while they spent time together, making it obvious he knew things about him no one else did. He would mention knowing Achi’s favorite food. He would say seemingly innocuous things about his family. He would linger at Achi's desk more, more often bringing him drinks or snacks.

These things felt awkward sometimes, but mostly they were nice. Eventually the attention from their colleagues died down and it didn't feel so much like they were in the spotlight every time Karan gave him attention.

Then one day, while they were sitting at lunch, Karan grabbed Achi’s hand under the table. Achi practically jumped out of his seat. Karan’s face fell, obviously disappointed at Achi’s reaction, but it wasn’t what Karan was doing, it was where.

Achi knew other people suspected the status of their relationship, but if they saw such an obvious sign, it would be worse than when people had noticed Karan being closer to Achi. It's all anyone would talk about for months. Achi wasn't comfortable with that level of attention.

Achi said in a hushed voice, “Karan, other people might see.”

Karan moved his hand away and let it fall in his lap. “I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable, Achi.”

There was a pout in his voice that Achi didn’t like to hear. He never wanted to make Karan feel that way.

“What if I say you can hold my hand as much as you want outside work?”

“Really?” he asked, sounding disbelieving. “As much as I want?”

Achi nodded, but there was something in Karan’s eyes that made him think this might be more than he had bargained for.

When Achi showed up at Karan’s apartment on his next day off, he was greeted at the door. “Come in,” he said, welcoming Achi inside. Karan had insisted that Achi come early and spend the day (and implied the night) together. 

Karan stood there smiling wide and held out his hand. Achi took off his backpack and handed it to Karan. Karan nodded to himself, taking the bag and putting it in his closet and then returning with his hand extended again.

Achi looked at Karan’s hand for a moment. It was warm that day so he didn’t have a coat. He wasn’t sure what else Karan wanted him to hand over.

“Your hand?” Karan said. “You promised.”

“Oh,” Achi said, genuinely surprised at the request. He did say Karan could hold his hand, he just didn’t realize that meant the second he entered his apartment. 

“Just let me get my shoes off,” Achi said. 

But Karan had already scooped up his hand and held on tight, giving Achi a satisfied smile. 

Okay, Achi could probably get his shoes off with only one hand if he absolutely had to. He went to push off one by stepping on the heel. He struggled a bit so Karan leaned down and helped Achi remove it with his free hand.

Achi nodded in thanks and Karan pulled off his other one. He started to shove his foot into the slippers and Karan helped him on with those as well.

“I’m making breakfast. Can you help me?” Karan asked.

Achi tried not to look too concerned. He was a terrible cook, but it wasn't like Karan didn't know Achi's level of cooking abilities. Ultimately it didn't really matter. Before he could answer, Karan pulled him over to the kitchen. 

As usual, Karan was well organized. He had some ingredients laid out on chopping boards and in bowls.

“What are you making?”

“We’re making congee and boiled pork soup.” He went to grab a pot and Achi let go of his hand.

“What’s going on?” Karan said, looking back at him.

“Oh, I thought you’d need both hands for this.” Karan looked at Achi with all seriousness and said, “You’ll be my other hand.”

Achi let his hand be scooped up again and followed Karan over to the sink to fill the water. When Karan was struggling with picking up the heavier pot, Achi grabbed the other handle and helped him bring it back to the stove. 

Karan had a recipe he was following and the first few things he did, he asked Achi to help. But it wasn’t long before they found a rhythm and Achi was finding the ingredients on his side of the counter and bringing them to add. 

Karan squeezed tight and brushed his thumb over Achi’s hand, with a little extra acknowledgement, whenever he put something else in the pot. 

Yes, it was awkward, but Achi was a good listener and Karan was a good teacher. It probably took them a little extra time to get everything ready and set the table, but in truth neither of them really seemed to mind.

It was easier for Achi to relax while holding Karan’s hand this way. There was no question of when he should pull away and when it was too long to hold on. What Karan wanted was clear and all Achi needed to do was not let go. 

Luckily Achi was left-handed and Karan was right-handed so it wasn’t even difficult to hold hands throughout lunch. 

Karan gave Achi that easy smile as they ate. It was one that Achi had originally thought he gave to everyone, congenial, kind, respectful, but the thing was, as Achi spent more time with Karan he noticed, it was different than the one Achi got.

The one Karan gave to most others did not touch his eyes. It was part of his way of being with everyone - inoffensive, overly pleasant. 

That wasn’t the one that was meant for Achi. Karan’s easy smile for Achi was softer. It wasn’t perfectly symmetrical, sometimes curled a little more on one side as he was about to laugh and it always, always touched his eyes. 

It still surprised Achi how easy it was to just be with Karan. They talked about where they might want to go on their next date, how their families were doing, places they always wanted to travel.

“We never need to let go,” Karan proclaimed as they finished up. 

“I think we do, Karan.”

His face fell. It was obvious he thought Achi was no longer willing to play his game. 

“I just need to go to the bathroom.”

“That’s not a problem,” Karan said. “I can definitely help with that.”

“That’s not funny, Karan,” Achi said, using his free hand to playfully shove Karan's other shoulder.

“Fine, fine,” he said. “I’ll let you go, on one condition.” 

“Okay,” Achi said hesitantly, trying to prepare himself. Who knows what other completely ridiculous, yet endearing thing Karan would want next.

“When you get back, you have to hold both my hands to make up for the time you were away.”

Achi laughed. “Fine, but how long is this going to last?”

“We go back to work on Monday,” he said, pursing his lips, clearly trying not to smile.

“You’ve got it all planned out then, haven’t you?”

That made Karan crack, he started to laugh, squeezing Achi’s hand tightly.

Achi was about to throw some realism at this, but why would he do that? Instead he said, "Fine, but before we do your double hand holding, you have to one-handedly help me with the dishes.”

Karan was beaming again, nodding in agreement. “Nothing would make me happier.”

The secrets of how I wrote Dia-nial

...I say, like I'm still not on the middle of writing it. However! In honor of me not dropping the ball on this even now, and with the seventh chapter almost finished, I figure I might as well do what I always promised I'd do; behold, the outline that is a shit post that has become hell that I'm four years in on.

This is the outline of chapters 1-5, which are currently posted. I figured you all might enjoy the look behind the disaster of a fic!

Disclaimer: parts of this are not the OG outline. this outline has been revised maybe five times, and is not always stuck to 100% perfectly, so there may be bits in there that didn't actually appear inside the fic.

Disclaimer pt.2: there's some mild chapter fuckery in here. chapter six did not get posted, because there's parts that spoil later bits that didn't actually make it in to the final draft there.

Chapter one

*Riko mentally describes her double life as school idol and artist

*Of course there's Yuri involved

*Something something transition

*Something something Riko gets invited over with Hanamaru to the Kurosawa estate to look at Ruby's giant collection of idol magazines

*Dia recieves her Package:tm:

*Refuses to let Ruby open it

*Note the awkward is mostly from Riko's side, Dia is low-key passive aggressive

*Off to school they go, awkward Riko is still Awkward. Chika is suspish.

*Hanamaru makes a mild joke about Dia's dark dark secret. Chika is even more suspish when Riko clams up

CHAPTER FOUR GOOOOO

*hanamaru can't help out either other than "Riko probably saw dia and her idol obsession and she's probably a little bit Scarred"

*Going to dia for answers is even worse because she too is suspish

*chika gets an interrogation

*dia gets yelled at

*anyway nobody gets anything done besides Chika walking away really, really confused

*meanwhile Riko is panicking some more

*like holy shit dia, THE dia, student council president and the notorious straight laced busybody reads her doujin

*she's hoping dia doesn't find out that she's the author but also

*Insert anxious leaps of logic, Riko decides that Dia must be afraid her reputation is at stake

How did they meet?

The exact circumstances aren’t necessary, but Aimer was defending Shoma from Mystic’s rampage alongside the rest of his family. He gave the Founder quit the beating at that time…

Who flirted with who first?

Mystic flirted with Aimer first, for sure. He liked what he saw in their first encounter, so he was determined to get his hands in those pants on the second-born.

Was it love at first sight or a slowburn romance?

It was a slow-burn for both. Sure, Mystic definitely liked Aimer from the very beginning, but in a way that awoke a carnal desire and not so much as in romantic attraction. At the beginning, Aimer didn’t have the slightest bit of interest on Mystic. In fact, he found the brat to be an incredibly nuisance.

Did they start dating right away or were they friends before things became romantic?

They weren’t friends, per se… Mystic showed up one day and offered Aimer to be friends with benefits. Aimer surprisingly agreed to it without much need for Mystic to delegate. Suffice to say, their physical relationship got way out of hand as they actually began spending time together.

What was their first date?

Their “first date” (and this is a headcanon I’ve had for the longest time 🏃‍♀️) was sometime when both started realizing they had feelings for one-another. They called it an “arranged dine and hookup”—since they hadn’t met up in a long time—but they were both oddly anxious about it. Of course, neither would show it. Mystic was basically swimming in his closet trying to find an outfit and was an absolute wreck while he made his way over to their meetup spot. On the other side of the realms, Convoitise was hyping up Aimer—bantering back and forth between each other whether it was an actual date or not—while helping him find something nice to wear. I can only imagine Aimer was near a breakdown once he met up with Mystic.

They had dinner, walked around for a while as they waited for their room at the hotel to become available and spend quite the passionate night together. It was oddly romantic as well—which both noticed—but neither ever even dared to overthink about it.

What are their favourite things to do on date nights?

Cuddle and watch a movie. This is something they’ve been doing for the longest of time and they continue to do so at present day.

Do they still go on dates after being together for a while?

They try. Due to conflicting schedules in their respective fields, they realized they didn’t have as much time as they did before they started dating.

What is their love language?

Nuzzling. They actually brush noses or ruffle the other’s hair more often than they kiss in public. Aimer tends to walk away purring and a smile on his face while Mystic is left swooning.

Who kissed who first?

Mystic kissed Aimer first. They were both sharing a same space in the library of the Kurosawa’s manor. You could say Mystic cornered Aimer and stole a kiss before skipping out of there amongst snickering.

Who started the relationship?

Their friends with benefits arrangement was initiated by Mystic. Their actual and official relationship was a mutual thing. By the time they both broke down from the overflow of their feelings, it was very clear their feelings were mutual.

Monogamy or Polyamory?

Monogamy, of course.

Are they/do they plan on getting married?

They’re married, your honor!

Who proposed? Was it a yes or no?

Aimer proposed. Of course it was a yes!

Do they want kids? Who brought it up first?

Aimer has shown interest in having kids and he brought it up first, but Mystic is very obviously overwhelmed by the idea.

Do they already have kids, together or from previous relationships?

(Not on canon) They have a son called Raymond. Tall bundle of anxiety, but has the intelligence and looks of his daddies—

Do they have any routines/rituals in their relationship?

Get up, Aimer makes breakfast, they finish off some chores and head to work if any of them needs to. This starter since their physical relationship became a thing… except for the chores part.

How do they take care of each other when they are sick/hurt?

Aimer makes sure to pamper Mystic and nurse him back to health with keen attention (Mystic is a walking incident waiting to happen, after all). Mystic does his best (he really does), but generally needs to seek help from Yvonne or Kazuha.

How do they like to spend time together?

Library visits, sharing a single book, cooking (even though it’s mostly Aimer doing so), cuddling, watching a movie, complaining about their work… fucking—

What are their favourite non-sexual forms of intimacy?

Holding hands. There’s not a time when they’re sharing the same space that they aren’t clinging to each other. At times when this isn’t possible or not seen as proper—specially in Mystic’s household—they hold hands under the table or just when standing next to each other.

What are some of their favourite things about their partner?

Mystic loves Aimer’s silliness. Despite him being an absolute intelectual and very imposing/intimidating at first sight, Mystic has had time to see just how awkward and silly he can be. (Physically speaking, his shoulders, for sure—) I like to think Aimer loves Mystic’s ability of going from a whiny brat to a badass assassin. Lovingly nicknaming him by “little king”. (Physically—I suspect—Aimer really likes Mystic’s eyes and thighs.)

How do they comfort the other when they are upset?

Mystic cuddles Aimer—his head against his chest mostly, because is too big to comfortably hold him—into his arms and combs through his hair with his fingers, whispering reassurances and sometimes trying to make a small conversation to try to distract him from the original problem. Aimer is more prone to actually cradling Mystic—since he becomes restless and shifty under these circumstances—kiss his forehead and also try to distract him or talk over the issue.

Who buys the other spontaneous gifts?

Both are very likely to do that. Every time Mystic is out working and sees something he knows Aimer might like, he’ll take it. Aimer does something similar, or if he recalls hearing Mystic mention something he wanted.

What position do they sleep in?

Most of the time, they tend to fall asleep spooning, Aimer being the little spoon as surprising as it may seem. They also like the “cradle” which is them tangled up in each others’ arms in the form of a loose hug.

If You Dream Brightly, Come This Way

Kurosawa had always had a strong imagination, and vivid dreams. When he was younger, this manifested in short stories where he played a prince and his sister a princess, or a dragon, or whatever he could persuade her to be. Now that he was older, though, his aspirations were much more realistic. Get the job, be the best salesman he possibly could be, on merit , not through his face or whatever. As for his dreams …

Well, those were very focused on a certain person once a certain event had occurred.

They weren’t usually sexual dreams, to Kurosawa’s vague relief, which would have made him feel guilty, although he couldn’t lie to himself and say he didn’t enjoy the occasional spicier dream. But most of them were quite tame, usually just dates, although sometimes his brain came up with wild plots that involved saving Adachi, or being saved by Adachi, with tokusatsu monsters or demons or whatever from what he had been reading or watching recently.

His daydreams were often filled with what he would say to Adachi if he had the chance or courage to even approach his coworker. It wasn’t like they didn’t talk ever , but they certainly didn’t talk enough in Kurosawa’s eyes. But every time it happened, his whole week would be made, and his sleeping dreams were even more vivid.

Seven years passed like this, so when Adachi was actually in his apartment, there was no way Kurosawa was able to sleep. He had wanted to talk to Adachi more, maybe about Ragna Crimson and what he thought would happen in the next volume, but Adachi had fallen asleep, and nothing could persuade Kurosawa to wake him up.

Well, not nothing . Kurosawa amused himself for a bit thinking of a situation where he’d have to carry Adachi out of a burning building, and how Adachi would look at him like he was a hero. The whole thing made him roll around like a lovesick teenager, but he couldn’t help himself.

As the night went on, Kurosawa got more and more restless. He got out his lint roller, cleaning his bed, like Adachi was going to come in from the living room and join him, even going to his bedroom door to listen. Of course, there was no response. Adachi was probably asleep. Kurosawa hoped he was having good dreams, at least, and that the futon was comfortable.

He roamed the room a bit, rearranging things, wondering if he moved this plant here it would increase his luck, or if Adachi would prefer this picture there.

A soft knock on his door got his immediate attention. He put down the plant in his hand and wiped his hands on his pajama pants, as they had gone sweaty, before opening the door.

“Kurosawa, are you okay? I heard noises…” Adachi was rubbing his eyes with the pajama shirt, the sleepiness making him appear much younger than 30. Kurosawa thought the only thing missing was a teddy bear or blanky. He didn’t seem annoyed, just worried and maybe a bit put-out.

“Nope, I’m okay,” Kurosawa said brightly, although his mind was screaming at him for two different things. “I’m sorry if I woke you up.”

Adachi shook his head. “Was already awake, but as long as you’re okay, going to try and sleep again,” he said with a yawn. “Good night.” Kurosawa almost led him to his bed, but Adachi had turned back. Kurosawa wasn’t sure he quite believed him that he was already awake, since he seemed almost out of it, but it wasn’t like he was going to call him out on it.

Kurosawa watched him go, wanting to scream into his pillow both for accidentally waking Adachi up by being restless, and for seeing Adachi be just that adorable. He definitely wasn’t sleeping after that .

He managed to stay in his bed after that, stretching a bit before putting his head in his arms, sitting in the middle of the bed.

He rose early, getting dressed and starting breakfast. He tried to keep quiet, planning on waking Adachi at the last possible minute, but Adachi managed to rouse himself, and wasn’t he a sight , first thing in the morning. A bit panicked when Kurosawa talked to him, but still just utterly adorable. Kurosawa asked him about the futon, laughing a bit at Adachi’s proclamation of it being five times softer than his own. Thankfully, he was staying for breakfast when Kurosawa asked, and Kurosawa felt a thrill at being correct in predicting that Adachi wanted sweet tamagoyaki. It wasn’t long until breakfast was ready, Adachi not bothering to change out of the pajamas as they ate. Considering that Adachi never brought up what had happened in the middle of the night, Kurosawa figured he must have forgotten, or maybe thought it was a dream. In the light of morning, it did seem very dreamlike. The entire thing did, in fact.

But Kurosawa knew it wasn’t.

Adachi blinks his eyes open, and the room is still mostly dark, sunlight peeking around the edges of Kurosawa's curtains. He snuggles the blanket around him, not ready to leave the warm bed yet. It takes him a moment to realize Kurosawa is not still asleep in bed next to him, and when he focuses his ears, he can hear him puttering around, probably making breakfast.

He dozes for a while, not really asleep or awake, until he notices all the sounds have stopped. He shuffles around in the bed, and turns to see Kurosawa standing there, taking pictures with his phone.

"Yu-yuichi! What-"

Kurosawa sheepishly puts his phone down, "Ah, you just looked so cute, I couldn't help myself. I came to wake you up for breakfast, but you look so cozy I almost don't want to make you get up." He looks apologetic, like he really would let whatever he cooked go to waste just to let Adachi stay in bed.

"Let's go eat breakfast, and then we can come back and cuddle afterwards, okay?"

Kurosawa beams, and tugs Adachi out of bed and into his arms, pressing a kiss to his temple.

"That sounds lovely, Kiyoshi."

The ask was getting so long I’m sorry😭 (you Broke Me) BUT your tags had my heart aching because I didn’t even think about that but you’re sooo right like it’s clear that a lot of kurosawa’s unrealistic expectations for himself were ingrained into him through his mother and what she actually expected of him growing up and that manifesting into fears of fatherhood and making the same mistakes is,,,, (had to stop to forcefully regulate my breathing pattern here out of sheer pain) like it’s a perfect next life stage arc that stays true to his character. Plus the whole contrast with adachi being naturally adept and comfortable with fatherhood due to /his/steadfast upbringing and being able to talk things through with kurosawa and help him understand that yeah there’s no such thing as The Perfect Parent™️ but you do just have to learn as you go, while taking into account to be mindful of not making the same mistakes as your own parents but at the end of the day the goal is to create that loving, supportive and consistent environment which he’s more than capable of doing like oh GOD I could eat rocks by the spoonful right now sensei PLEASE,,, I’m gonna stop rambling before every single thought floods out but once again THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for the Kurodachi brain food I’m gonna think about it an insanely unhealthy amount,,, I hope your day was loveliest it could be <333

Can you really blame me for wanting these two together always? No, you can’t.

So much interesting insight into filming in the interview in the magazine too. Like how the scene in Kurosawa’s apartment in ep two (pyjamas, breakfast, cute) and the angst scene in ep 11 (pain, tears, breakup) were filmed on the same day… They really took a lot of care to make each scene the right mood, it can’t have been easy. Particularly since the scene in ep 11 must have been exhausting to film, and Akaso-San really poured his heart out. 

They also talked about wanting to film a scene from the manga, where Kurosawa takes Adachi on a helicopter ride. Can we take that as a hint that they will do sequel of some sort? Yes?

I love that Kurosawa dresses in soft jumpers and jeans in his spare time. He's always portrayed as so cool and professional in the office and the fitted suits are perfect for that image but just like Adachi he has a life outside of that so when he doesn't have to keep up his image he is just a comfy dressed man reading books and going to amusement parks. like yes he is this person that has always impressed Adachi but he is also (his) Kurosawa who makes him breakfast and likes the same mangas as him, who writes poems in his head and just wants to spend time with the person he loves
