So why’s Gou a depressed ball of grief in the new au?

To put it shortly: his parents became absolutely terrified of having their second son as a professional racer due to Kenichi’s supposed “death” during a race (he got to become a racer without running away, yay!). His mom & especially Pops, forbidden Go from racing out of fear the same thing would happen to him, & started watching him like a hawk from now on to ensure he wasn’t sneaking out to race anywhere. With Go now dealing with the loss of his brother & his will to even be open about what he dreamed of doing ever since he was young, he was stuck in denial with everything. His mind kept rewinding back to the broadcast of the scene, & tried to dig into what really caused his brother to go missing in a crash almost halfway through the race. Something felt off.

Then he noticed a few things within the reports & footage, had a talk with sabu, decided to sneak out during night since it wasn’t the only time his parents weren’t watching him, & now he’s entered the street racing scene to investigate who caused the incident & why.
