I don’t doubt that your statement that alchemy is more like physics than chemistry is grounded in extensive research, but may I ask what texts led you to reach that conclusion? In my reading on alchemy, I’ve seen it argued quite often that it’s a precursor to modern chemistry.

That’s just pathologizing greed, tho. It’s not a health issue, it’s a morality issue. The ultra-wealthy are not mentally sick, they’re morally sick

i think you can be both. i dont think mental illness is an excuse for moral choices and actions; greed is still greed, these people aren’t blameless victims, and the abuses these ppl heap on the working class and their environment are still morally untenable. but i do think there are pathological ways that living with a certain degree of extreme money fucks you up. its not that im trying to argue against these guys wealth being redistributed- i just think wealth is as nasty and insidious a creator of misery as any other part of the capitalist system and a lot of folks who’ve grown up with it their whole life will legit need counseling to function healthily and happily in ordinary society.

Who is your favorite hxh character and why? :3

i did my high school english final on a kurapika character analysis i’m like obsessed with them... a lot of it is on a level of like. i relate to them a lot (indigenous jewslim king) wrt like. most of the main 4 sans like leorio i guess have a tendency to act out in ways that are really harmful to themselves and kurapika was the one who i felt like had the same sort of traumaspiral and self destructive tendencies i did when i was a little younger so i latched onto them very hard + i think their nen power is really neat and they’re the main character in the political intrigue centered arc and i love political intrigue type stuff. also they brought a shovel to a fight because they were dead set on killing and burying uvogin

Have you seen Sailor Moon? I’d argue that RGU riffs on SM almost as much as Oniisama-E. Zettai Unmei Mokushiroku is a magical girl transformation scene. A very original transformation scene, but still a transformation scene.

I watched it a loong time ago as a kid and not all of it. I’ve been meaning to rewatch it for years but I haven’t done it, the number of episodes intimidates me hsdfuiadsf

So I don’t really remember enough to recognize what elements from SM inspired RGU (aside of visual ones), but I can believe it

It’s definitely a transformation scene but I don’t think that’s enough to make it count as MG
