˚ ༘♡ it was the strangest thing, stepping out of your bedroom and into a world that had ceased to exist. the familiar cadence of life, the hushed creaks of the old family estate, the distant sounds of the city beyond, had been swallowed whole by silence. you called out, expecting an answer, but none came. the lavish halls stretched empty, the doors left ajar as if abandoned in an instant. outside, the streets of tokyo stood frozen in time, emptied of their ceaseless crowds, their neon-lit chaos. no cars idling at intersections, no distant murmur of conversation, no footsteps beyond your own.
˚ ༘♡ for hours, you wandered, a lone figure adrift in a dead city. the absence of life gnawed at your mind, an eerie stillness pressing against your skin. you searched for movement, for any sign that you weren’t the last person left in the world. then, at long last, you found them, a handful of strangers clustered in the remains of a building complex, their faces etched with the same confusion and fear that pained your expression. pitiful consolation burned in your chest, only to be doused by frustration. they knew nothing. no one did.
˚ ༘♡ then came the notification, it read the following, “visa: 3 days remaining.”
˚ ༘♡ your heart pounded as you turned to one of the others, demanding to know what it meant. their answer was worse than anything your mind had conjured. you had three days to play. three days to win. fail, or refuse, and your visa would expire. and when that happened, you would die.
˚ ༘♡ it sounded absurd, a nightmare spun from exhaustion and fear. but then the first game began.
˚ ༘♡ a siren wailed through the building, red emergency lights casting the halls in an unnatural glow. a door slammed open. and then he appeared.
˚ ༘♡ a towering figure draped in dark clothing, a horse mask concealing his face, the gleam of a gun heavy in his hands. he did not hesitate. the first shot rang out, cutting through the confusion, splattering blood across the walls. screams shattered the air. chaos erupted, bodies scrambling for cover as the game of tag began, except this wasn’t a game. not really.
˚ ༘♡ you ran. every breath burned, every heartbeat a countdown to death. the masked man moved with terrifying precision, his steps unhurried, methodical. you turned a corner just as another shot rang out through the air, a body hitting the ground behind you. fear coursed through your veins like fire, but survival drove you forward.
˚ ༘♡ in the end, you lived, not by skill, not by strength, but by sheer luck. a young man and a woman, moving like they had done this before, found the safe zone in the final moments. you barely made it, collapsing against the wall, lungs heaving, the taste of fear still thick in your throat. the masked man vanished. the sirens cut off. eerie silence returned.
˚ ༘♡ your phone buzzed again. your visa had been extended.
˚ ༘♡ the next day, you could hardly move. fatigue and shock weighed you down, pinning you to the cold floor of the abandoned building you had taken refuge in. your mind refused to process what had happened, but deep down, you knew. if you didn’t move, if you didn’t act, you wouldn’t survive the next game.
˚ ༘♡ it was pure chance that you ran into them again, the two who had saved you. the young man introduced himself as ryohei arisu, the woman as yuzuha usagi. you thanked them, though words felt meaningless after what you had just endured. when they asked if you wanted to join them, you didn’t hesitate.
˚ ༘♡ arisu mentioned a location called the beach, a rumored sanctuary where players had gathered. a sliver of hope in a city that had become a graveyard.
˚ ༘♡ it took time, careful observation, and calculated risk, but after following a group of players you recognized from the game of tag, you knew you were close, but without warning a devastating blow was delivered to the back of your head and you were entrenched by darkness.
˚ ༘♡ when you woke, your wrists were bound, the scent of lavender incense thick in the air. a lavish room stretched before you, unfamiliar faces standing in the dim light. a man entered, draped in a loose robe, his presence far too casual for the circumstances. he grinned and extended his arms in a welcoming gesture, “i am sure you all have questions, and we have the answers you are searching for.”
˚ ༘♡ the robed man, who introduced himself as the hatter, was the self-proclaimed ruler of the beach. with a charismatic grin, he explained the laws that governed this facade of a sanctuary, his voice smooth, practically hypnotic, as if he had rehearsed it countless times before.
˚ ༘♡ one. all playing cards collected from the games belonged to the beach. they believed that obtaining a full deck would grant them passage back to the original world, though there was no proof, only blind faith and desperation. two. all members were to follow the will of the leader, the hatter himself, and his chosen executive members. their word was law. questioning it was not an option. three. the most sinister of all, betray the beach, and you will be executed without mercy.
˚ ༘♡ his delivery was casual and lighthearted, but the dread of those mandates settled akin to lead in your stomach. there was no room for dissent. you were not being invited, you were being conscripted.
˚ ༘♡ with no choice but to comply, you were ushered away, given a simple command: change into swimsuits. no exceptions. it was a method of control, a way to ensure no weapons could be concealed. but beyond that, it was humiliating. a stripping away of your identity, reducing you to just another body in the beach’s twisted paradise.
˚ ༘♡ you were led into a grand dressing room, its gilded mirrors and velvet benches a stark contrast to the world outside. racks of swimwear lined the walls, bright, revealing, designed for spectacle rather than function. hesitant, you sifted through the options before settling on a pearl-white one-piece with a sweetheart neckline, elegant yet understated. even so, the thought of baring yourself in such a vulnerable space made you uneasy. for a sliver of modesty, you grabbed a sheer cover-up, draping it over your shoulders before stepping out into the heart of the resort.
˚ ༘♡ and what you saw left you speechless.
˚ ༘♡ the beach was alive with indulgence. men and women in vibrant bikinis and neon swim trunks danced freely, their bodies moving under the golden glow of the sun. cocktails sloshed in their hands, music pulsed from unseen speakers, laughter rang out like the city had never vanished. it was surreal, a fever dream of excess set against the backdrop of an abandoned world.
˚ ༘♡ but beneath the revelry, there was something off. something calculated.
˚ ༘♡ as you moved through the crowd, you felt it, the leering gazes of men trailing after you, drinking you in like you were just another prize in this lawless haven. your grip tightened around your cover-up, pulling it closer, shielding yourself as best as you could without drawing attention. searching the crowd, you finally spotted familiar faces, usagi and arisu, standing off to the side, their expressions indistinct.
˚ ༘♡ relief rushed through you as you hurried over. “i thought i’d never be able to find you two.”
˚ ༘♡ usagi glanced up, her eyes taking you in. she wore a navy blue two-piece, a peach zip-up jacket pulled tightly around her frame despite the heat. her voice was low, almost conspiratorial as she muttered, “can you believe they’re making everyone dress like this? it’s humiliating.”
˚ ༘♡ arisu, arms crossed, let out a slow breath, gaze drifting toward the endless stretch of blue sky. “you think what the executives said is true?” his voice was laced with doubt. “that if we gather all the cards, we can go back?”
˚ ༘♡ neither you nor usagi answered. because what was there to say? it was a fool’s hope, a dangling promise intended to keep the beach running, to keep its members playing the games. no one knew if escape was even possible. and something told you that the people in charge of these depraved, debauched games didn’t care.
˚ ༘♡ the vivacious laughter and excitement that had consumed the resort mere moments ago began to wane, like a tide pulling back, exposing something far more menacing beneath the surface. you felt it before you saw it, a change in the air, an unspoken tension that rippled through the crowd, silencing the drunken revelry. turning your head, your breath became erratic.
˚ ༘♡ a group of men strode through the party, their presence suffocating, the very energy of the beach seeming to warp around them. at the front of the pack, you recognized him immediately, the man who had taken down the tagger during your first game. his presence had unnerved you then, and it unnerved you now. he moved with the quiet confidence of a predator, his muscled frame tense beneath his tank top, his sharp eyes scanning the crowd with indifference. he looked like a member of the yakuza with his shaved head and vicious attitude.
˚ ༘♡ yet, it was the figure behind him that truly sent a chill down your spine. a man dressed in black, his hood drawn up over his head, a long, gleaming blade clutched in his grip. his head was shaved clean, but tattoos inked his stark white skin, crawling down his neck like a web of curses. he didn’t speak. he didn’t need to. his very presence was suffocating, a walking omen of violence.
˚ ༘♡ your gaze steadily drifted to the figure on the left, and your entire body locked up.
˚ ༘♡ no.
˚ ༘♡ your heart lurched, your stomach twisting into knots so tight you felt nauseous. your breath caught in your throat, your knees going weak beneath you. your mind screamed at you that it couldn’t be, that it shouldn’t be. but it was.
˚ ༘♡ “hey, aguni, who is this jerk staring at you?”
˚ ༘♡ the masculine voice with a taunting edge, slashed through the unbearable silence, your gaze landed on him. niragi.
˚ ༘♡ he stood before you, a rifle slung casually over his shoulder, his smirk razor-sharp and laced with cruelty. but your eyes weren’t on the weapon. they weren’t even on the piercings that now lined his eyebrow and tongue, nor the unruly strands of black hair that had grown out since you last saw him.
˚ ༘♡ the same eyes that once held warmth, shyness, devotion. the same eyes that once looked at you like you were his entire world. but now? now they were malicious and dark, devoid of anything kind and compassionate. the cocky bravado was there, the smirk, the teasing edge to his voice. but for a fleeting second, just a fraction of a second, his mask slipped. his expression faltered. he recognized you. he wasn’t expecting this, he wasn’t expecting you.
˚ ༘♡ arisu, beside you, blinked in surprise. “you’re the guy from the game of tag.”
˚ ༘♡ aguni, the man leading the group, barely spared you a glance. instead, his gaze flickered over the three of you, his lips curling in something that wasn’t quite a sneer, wasn’t quite pity. “i see your friend died.” his tone was cold, impersonal. “what a shame. the weak ones survived.”
˚ ༘♡ niragi, however, was no longer looking at arisu or aguni. his full attention was on you. his fingers twitched at his side, his head tilting slightly, like he was trying to piece together if this was real or some bizarre hallucination. then, before you could even think of what to say, he took a step forward, closing the distance between you just enough to make your breath catch in your throat.
˚ ༘♡ ”it’s been a while, honey.”
˚ ༘♡ his voice was laced with mockery, with that menacing brutality, but there was something else too, something genuine. a sliver of sincerity buried beneath it all, a trace of something that made your heart ache, remnants of the niragi you once cherished so deeply.
˚ ༘♡ “why are you hanging out with this loser?” niragi seethed, his voice ridden with contempt as his glare locked onto arisu. before arisu could even process the insult, let alone defend himself, niragi swung the end of his rifle into his face with a sickening crack. the impact sent arisu crashing onto the cold, tiled floor, his head snapping back against the hard surface.
˚ ༘♡ blood gushed from his nose and mouth almost instantly, painting the shining white tiles in deep crimson. he barely had a chance to react before niragi loomed over him, lifting his boot and slamming it into his ribs. arisu curled inward, gasping in pain, but niragi wasn’t done. he kicked him again, this time in the head.
˚ ༘♡ usagi let out a panicked cry and dropped to the ground beside arisu, her hands flying up to shield him. “stop! please!” she shouted, desperation cracking her voice. she tried to shove niragi away, but he barely stumbled. without hesitation, he turned and shoved her back with enough force to send her sprawling across the floor.
˚ ༘♡ “what the hell are you doing?” you snapped, horror and disbelief flooding your veins. your mind reeled, unable to make sense of what you were seeing, of the man standing before you. niragi had once been the one suffering under the weight of cruelty, bullied relentlessly until he had nearly been broken. you had been the one to step in, to defend him, to pull him from the insults and beatings of others. and now, here he was, standing in the shoes of the very monsters who had tormented him.
˚ ༘♡ what happened to him?
˚ ༘♡ “niragi, enough! no more!” you yelled out, but he ignored you, lifting his boot again as if he had already decided arisu’s fate.
˚ ༘♡ you didn’t think. you acted. you threw yourself in front of him, your body a barrier between niragi and the bloodied mess of arisu curled up on the floor. usagi was already huddled beside him, shielding him as best as she could. you could see niragi’s rise and fall as adrenaline coursed through his veins, feel his eyes boring into you, but you didn’t care.
˚ ༘♡ “what have you become?” you shouted, your voice shaking, your emotions threatening to swallow you whole. “have you lost your mind because of these games? is this who you are now?”
˚ ༘♡ niragi stood motionless, his expression darkening. for a minute, something unreadable glistened in his gaze, something vanishing, something buried beneath layers of cruelty and indifference. then, his lips coiled into a sneer.
˚ ༘♡ “what have i become?” he mocked, his tone laced with amusement. “why are you being so melodramatic?”
˚ ༘♡ your heart pounded as you looked past him, at the men standing behind him, watching without saying a word. this was for them. niragi wasn’t just acting out of anger, he was performing, playing the role expected of him, preserving whatever foreboding image he had built here.
˚ ༘♡ he exhaled sharply and tilted his head, his smirk growing. “get out of my way, would you?” his voice was almost teasing, but there was a dangerous edge beneath it. he reached out, fingers brushing against your cheek in a touch that once would have made you feel more beloved than any woman in the world. but now? now, it was no different than the most potent of venom.
˚ ༘♡ your grimaced with revulsion, and before he could even register it, you jerked away, stepping back like his touch had burned you. niragi chuckled, shaking his head. “come on, don’t be like that,” he mused. “i promise we’ll have all the time in the world to catch up, after i finish with these two.”
˚ ༘♡ he moved to step around you, his patience wearing thin, but you blocked him again. this time, your stance was firmer, your hands clenching into fists at your sides, your fingernails digging into the skin of your palms. you could feel your pulse pounding in your throat, but you forced yourself to meet his gaze, unflinching.
˚ ༘♡ “niragi, please.”
˚ ༘♡ his name left your lips softer this time, stripped of the anger, stripped of the disbelief. it was a plea, not simply for arisu’s sake but for his, for the young man you once knew, the one you once loved.
˚ ༘♡ niragi hesitated. for a short while, something in his expression changed. you held his gaze, hoping, praying, that somewhere beneath the layers of cruelty and violence, he still remembered, those late-night phone calls, the way he used to look at you when he thought you weren’t watching, the warmth of his fingers laced through yours on lazy afternoons at the café. if there was anything left of that niragi, maybe, just maybe, he would stop.
˚ ༘♡ his smirk twitched, his tongue flicking over the silver piercing on his lip. then, with a lazy wave of his hand, he scoffed. “eh, whatever,” he muttered, swinging his rifle back over his shoulder as if nothing had happened. “this is no fun with you whining in my ear.” he turned away without another glance, striding off like he had already forgotten all about you. the rest of the men followed, their presence dissipating as quickly as it had arrived. aguni lingered for a tad longer, his expression obscured and harsh, before he, too, disappeared into his horde of followers.
˚ ༘♡ you stood bewildered, the tension in your body unraveling all at once, leaving only nausea in its wake. the atmosphere still buzzed with energy from the resort party, but it all felt so far away, like a different world entirely. your mind returned to arisu and usagi, they required your help.
˚ ༘♡ you spun on your heel and dropped to your knees beside him. he was still on the floor, barely conscious, his face drained of color, his body limp. usagi knelt beside him, pressing her zip-up jacket against his forehead to slow the bleeding. the fabric was already stained deep red.
˚ ༘♡ panic surged through you. you reached out, brushing arisu’s shoulder tenderly, trying to ground yourself as much as him. “i’ll get help, okay? stay here.”
˚ ༘♡ usagi nodded, her jaw tight, her focus entirely on arisu. you pushed yourself to your feet, your heart hammering as you turned and ran. you didn’t know where you were going. you didn’t even know who you could turn to in a place like this. but you had to hurry. arisu was losing too much blood, his life was in danger, because of niragi.
˚ ༘♡ your mind still couldn’t fully grasp it, the sheer impossibility of what he had become. your sweet and loving boyfriend you once knew was gone, replaced by a man who could smile through savagery, who could beat someone half to death and consider it entertainment.
˚ ༘♡ niragi was gone. whatever had taken his place, you weren’t sure you wanted to understand.

Listen. I know most of the earlier one piece movies aren't really canon, but I am obsessed with the implications of Saga in the Cursed Holy Sword, because he really adds a layer to Zoro's relationships with his rivals.
Okay. First, there's Kuina. His first rival. The one he can never beat. The promise to become the greatest. Untouchable, indestructible, until she isn't. Wado Ichimonji.
Then there's Saga. His next rival. They're more equally balanced. They're both orphans. There's an understanding there. A more even footing that he didn't have with Kuina. A gifted short sword instead of an inherited katana.
And Sanji. The proof of Zoro's rule of three. Twice over, in fact, third rival, third son. Never gives Zoro an inch in a fight, but doesn't hesitate to give him food afterwards. He doesn't fight with a sword, so there's no blade shared between them. Instead there's a much heavier promise.
Kuina dies. Saga dies. Both so close to Zoro, and he couldn't even do anything. Of course Zoro's worried when Sanji boards the sea train by himself. Of course he pushes Sanji out of the way at Thriller Bark. Of course he's angry with Sanji when he runs off to Whole Cake.
Zoro's already mourned his first two best friends rivals. Does he really have to go through that again?
Maybe Kuina wouldn't have fallen if Zoro had never asked her to fight him. Maybe if Zoro had been a little better he could have saved Saga. Maybe Zoro will have to kill Sanji himself.

It's very tempting to write a Kuina Lives + Strawhat Kuina fanfic for "One Piece" because more women is always nice! Also, a butch woman / potentially nonbinary character on the ship would be nice.
But also: it's funny to imagine Kuina and Zoro being legally married for convenience purposes (hospital visits, bailing each other out of jail, financial bullshit collecting bounties from the Marines) partly because it would fuck with the East Blue Strawhats (except Luffy, who doesn't care) that someone like Zoro is married. (THEY'RE 19!!!) Zoro would openly refer to Kuina as "the ol' ball and chain" and they probably sleep in the same bed (it's cheaper + Zoro is super warm) and I think it would make Sanji cry that Zoro is successfully married before him.

dude I've had this scenario run through my head so much it's not even funny😭
but can you do a Kuina x reader where chishiya and reader are like childhood friends (from family) and he finds her and introduced her and Kuina and readers having a gay panic (they both are) but trys to play it off and afterwards readers like "I totally nailed that😎" and chishiyas like "you're not slick😒"
Thank you♡ p.s. I think you should do the academic rival series with chishiya🤭

Summary: An awkward first introduction with Kuina.
Pairing: Kuina x fem!reader
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None :)
Word Count: 345
a/n: this was such a cute request! It was fun to write Kuina!! -- I have so many ideas for the chishiya series so I definitely will get started on it thank you for liking the idea!<3
Tumblr media
"This is, y/n. We've known each other before the borderlands, sadly." Chishiya introduced you to the woman in front of you.
It was like an angel was holding a halo right above her head with the way the light hit her tan skin, her dark eyes just filled with life as she looked at you.
She must've been amazed just as much as you were. Her fake cigarette had fallen to the floor due to her open mouth as she stared at everything your body had to ask for.
"You both look like idiots." Chishiya blurted, crossing his arms as he waved his eyes to one of you at a time.
The moment you snapped yourself out of the trace Kuina had put you into, you held your hand out, and the pink on your face growing when she grabbed your hand to shake it.
"Kuina is a uh--" You cleared your throat, "A beautiful name." You chuckled, the feeling of her soft hand engulfing your own made you swallow.
"Thank you. You have a nice name as well." She smiled warmly, obviously not bothered that your hand was glued to hers.
You couldn't stop smiling when you looked at her, letting your eyes fall to her chest but quickly trying to save yourself by looking back up.
Kuina giggled, finally peeling her hand away from yours. Her eyes went to Chishiya but straight back to you as she thought of every compliment in the book to express how pretty you were.
"Right." Chishiya scoffed, "Me and y/n are going to a game arena. Bye, Kuina." He waved her off as he began walking, but not before turning around to drag you off with him.
"Bye, Kuina!" You shouted as you tried to keep up with Chishiya's fast steps.
You looked at Chishiya with a wide smile, "Do you think she likes me? I think I was pretty smooth! Don't you?" You rambled on to the blonde beside you.
"Whatever you say." He scoffed as he couldn't help but laugh at the interaction.

Giyu and Sanemi were having tea with Kiriya, Kuina and Kanata, the three alive children of Kagaya Ubuiashiki, their old master
They had already had a conversation about what happened in the infinite castle, so the topic was not about sad things
The two men were sitting next to each other, with their backs to the door of the room they were in, which led to the courtyard of the new Ubuyashiki mansion
Kiriya was between his sisters Kuina and Kanata, sitting across from the ex hashiras, they could see the landscape through the open door
“The tea is wonderful, ladies” Sanemi commented, as he took another sip
“It It was prepared by my talented sister, Kanata” the younger boy said “and we also have delicious onigiri prepared by the talented Kuina”
The two girls smiled and blushed a little
“That’s great! I love onigiri!” Giyu exclaimed, smiling
He picked one up and put it in his mouth
Kiriya watched him, he didn’t remember seeing Giyu smile that much
“Your smile, it looks like my father’s”
“Hm ?” Giyu choked out “th-thank you”
Kagaya Ubuyashiki was known for his voice and smile that could calm anyone, even Muzan Kibutsuji when he was about to kill him
“You’re right Kiriya, Mr. Tomioka’s eyes also have the same brightness as his father’s ” Kuina said
“And your voice has the same power” Kanata added, leaning on his brother’s shoulder
“I’m flattered” Giyu smiled
Sanemi, who was smiling slightly after this conversation, decided to observe Giyu too
He didn’t see any resemblance between the boy and the master, but with someone else
“Your smile…” Sanemi said
Giyu looked at him and smiled again
Now Sanemi knew, it was Genya
It was Genya who was inside Tomioka’s smile
“It doesn’t remind me of master, but it reminds me of my brother, Genya”
“Oh, really?”
“Yes”
“Your smile is beautiful, Mr. Tomioka” Kanata said a little embarrassed
“It’s not that bad” Giyu looked away and laughed a little
Sanemi smiled and looked at the children
“Do you want to see something?”
The man approached and unpredictably he squeezed Giyu's body
"Hehehey!" He laughed, holding Sanemi's hands as they tickled his sides
Kiriya laughed "are you ticklish Giyu?" The boy memorized each hunter's first name just like his father
”Ihihi-“
“Yes, he is, do you want to see?” Sanemi interrupted him
The children agreed
The ex hashira of the wind then began to run his hands over Giyu’s ribs, he laughed
“Sahahanehemihi!”
“Can I tickle him too?” Kiriya asked, as if it were the most normal thing in the world
“Sure, squeeze his knees, he’ll scream”
The boy obeyed, and Giyu started to laugh more, he made a sign for the sisters to follow him
“PLEHEHEHEAHAHASE”
“I’m just showing some of that smile to the Ubuyashikis, Giyu”
“NOHOHOHOHO”
Sanemi laughed, but stopped, and asked the children to do the same
Giyu lay exhausted on the floor
Then Kiriya started laughing, and along with him, Kanata and Kuina also
“You’re as ticklish as our father!” Kuina said
Giyu smiled, that was amazing to hear
“Thank you, miss”
Sanemi smiled at the man, who smiled back
Despite everything those children had been through, they were still just children, who found it all very funny
❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜❤️🧡
Thanks for reading 💛💛

Girls just wanna have fun
A/N: little insight on what i think Chishiya and the reader's relationship is like after the ending of As much as you want. •ᴗ•
Tumblr media
Usagi and Arisu were getting married.
Chishiya had simply congratulated them when they announced the news. Kuina had been shocked, but had run to open a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Ann, on video call, busy because of work, had clapped and cheered, just as anyone would. Your reaction, however, had been a bit different.
"A child bride." You had gasped, eyes wide open, half-joking, half-actually-serious, your voice low so that nobody but him could hear. "What's next, teenage pregnancy?"
Chishiya silently laughed, burying his face in your hair so that nobody could see, one arm around you.
"She's your age." He pointed out, entertained by your reaction.
"And what am I? A literal child." You whispered, brows raised.
"A literal child way past her twenties."
"Three words: I. Am. Baby." You lifted a finger with each of them, and then stuck your tongue out.
The two of you had been dating for as long as Usagi and Arisu had, but clearly your relationship had a different timeline. Chishiya didn't mind. You, judging by your comments, didn't either.
"I wonder, what will I do now with the ring that I have in my pocket…?" Chishiya asked, teasing you, staring at the ceiling as if the answer to his question laid there.
"Don't you dare." You pointed your index finger at him, menacingly.
He chuckled, and lifted both arms above his head, his palms directed at you.
Things had been good. You had found a job in Japan, which meant you could stay for as long as you wanted and had moved on your own, although truth be told, Kuina pretty much lived with you, even if she didn't pay rent. The two of you had become inseparable. Ann and Usagi had later on joined your little group.
Chishiya and you also spent a lot of time together. He had got a definite workplace in a hospital close to where you lived and would come spend most nights. Or afternoons. Or mornings.
It didn't matter the time of the day, if he was available, the two of you were together.
Yeah… One could say things were better than good.
-------------------------------------------------- The night of the bachelorette party came.
Usagi had wanted something simple. To go to dinner with her best friends, maybe have a couple of drinks and call it a night.
Kuina and you had a different idea.
Ann just let you do whatever you wanted, lifting her shoulders every time Arisu or Chishiya would ask, as if saying "Well, what can I do to stop them?".
So you did go to dinner. But then you also went to a huge party in some fancy club, all of you dressed in pink except Usagi, who was forced to dress in white, wear a crown and a t-shirt saying "Here comes the bride!".
Chishiya had been working the whole time. He had a night shift, and it was about nine in the morning when he finally was done. First thing he did after changing into his normal clothes was checking his phone.
And saw he had an impressive amount of notifications. He was surprised the device hadn't blown up.
He opened his always on-going conversation with you. You never said goodbye, not even good night. You just went to sleep, and would continue where you left off the following morning. Sometimes you would write "(going to sleep, love you, tty in the morning <3)" between parenthesis, but that's as much as he would get.
Again, Chishiya didn't mind. He loved it.
He stopped to look at your photo, holding one of your parents' cats. It was from a trip you took on Christmas to your home country. You had kept saying that this particular cat reminded you of him.
He read the messages with a smile on his face:
hiiiiiii! we just had dinner and we are going to go to da club nowwww
After that, you had sent a picture of your food and another one of your outfit in what was probably the bathroom of the restaurant. You were wearing a pink dress and looked absolutely beautiful, at least in Chishiya's opinion.
hi agaiiiiiin, in the club now!!! good music today, i know every single song

A picture of you, sent by Kuina using your phone, in what seemed like a car. You were sleeping.
You had another message, from Arisu:
I went to pick the girls up. Kuina is with your girl at her appartment. Everything fine! b(^^)b
Thanks, Arisu.
Chishiya put his phone in the pocket of his dark jeans after replying to the text and left the hospital.
It was about an hour later when he rang your door bell using his elbow, holding three coffees in his right hand and a brown bag with breakfast buns for three in the left one.
Kuina opened up, very sleepy, wearing pyjamas. But her eyes grew wider when she saw the coffee Chishiya was holding, extending both arms to grab it and opening and closing her hands, clearly thrilled.
"You're the absolute best!" She said after taking the first sip and Chishiya simply tilted his head to one side, conceding. He left everything he was carrying on the kitchen counter.
"She's still sleeping?"
"I would be as well. She's in her room."
The woman with dreadlocks just threw herself on your sofa and turned the TV on.
Chishiya went to your room, opening the door without knocking, because you probably wouldn't have heard it, sleeping as you were. You usually slept in the weirdest positions, but now, you were on your side, both your arms below your pillow. You were still wearing the make-up from the night before. He smiled when he saw you were wearing one of his t-shirts.
Silently, he took off his shoes, and climbed to bed with you, placing himself at your back and putting an arm around you.
"Chishiya?" You whispered groggily, not even opening your eyes just moving backwards so that you could be closer to him.
"No."
"Yes you are, dummy."
He smiled and gave you a kiss on the top of your head, covering the both of you with the blanket.
"Had fun?"
"Yes, very much so. How was work? All good?"
"Boring."
"Boring means good. No accidents. No meteorites."
Chishiya laughed at that. You had met in the hospital, after being victims of a meteorite hitting Shibuya. In his opinion, a natural disaster wasn't such a bad thing.
It had brought you into his life.
"Did you bring Kuina coffee?" You asked, suddenly, opening one of your eyes and turning your face so that you could look at him.
"I did."
"I think you just moved to the number one position in her list of favorite people."
"What number am I in yours?"
"Did you bring me coffee?"
"No."
"I know you did, so you are number one."
"Because I brought you coffee?"
"No." You flashed him a lopsided grin, cheekily. You used to do it only sarcastically at first, but Chishiya had mentioned once or twice much he liked it when you started dating, so you had incorporated it to your list of smiles. This one you used when you wanted to mess with him. "Because I know you brought me a cinnamon bun."
The blonde laughed, and you ended up completely turning around in his arms so that you could be face to face. You gave him a kiss on the tip of the nose, then on the lips.
"Can we stay here a little bit longer?" You asked, feeling warm and safe.
"Yes. But only a little bit."
A small wrinkle appeared between your brows, and you squinted your eyes.
"Why?"
"Kuina will eat all the breakfast."
You laughed and cuddled up to him.
Five more minutes wouldn't hurt anyone.

Simon Says
Notes: Very, extraordinarily late commission for @tickles-tea! I am truly grateful for your patience in this process, I know I have taken forever to get this out ;-; but, I am happy to say that the lack of ticklish!Chishiya content out there has finally been rectified. I hope you enjoy!
Summary: Chishiya goes up against a game that may prove to be more challenging than he can handle.
After months of enduring them, Chishiya had learned to never underestimate the games. Some held challenges that made this goal easy to obtain, but others held subtler difficulties that you had to dig under the surface for. A game of tag could become a game of life or death. A game of hopscotch could end with one of your legs sawn clean off if you had a simple misstep. One of the more memorable of these was the game of Truth or Dare, which had left Kuina and him unable to look each other in the eyes for weeks after. Doubting the games was always the first mistake.
So, when the bold-faced letters on the screen read off Simon Says, Chishiya braced himself for the worst.
“Nervous?” Kuina asked as the two walked calmly down the hallway of the school building as directed. “They didn’t give us much to go off of this time—hard to make a plan under such circumstances.”
Their only instructions had been brief and clear—do as Simon instructs. If you go against him, you gain a strike. Only three strikes before you face termination from the game. Each of them were assigned a different room down the stretching hall where they would be forced to face their trial by themselves. Depending on what awaited them, this could be a mercy or a death sentence.
Chishiya shrugged, stuffing his hands inside his pockets. He scanned the doors with his eyes as he spoke. “Like you said, there’s nothing to prepare for. The best we can do is form a strategy once we’re in the room. For now, follow the instructions. You’re already such a good listener, so I doubt it’ll be hard for you.”
Kuina’s eyes shifted quickly towards him and, after deciding that it was unclear whether this was a jab or a compliment, she grinned. “I could say the exact opposite for you, boss. This is your number. Good luck~”
The number thirty glared above him as it towered over the foreboding classroom. Kuina was already off, looking utterly unbothered to the casual observer. Chishiya, however, noticed the stiffness in her shoulders and wished her luck silently. She had proved herself to be a valuable asset. He would hate to lose her so early on.
The inside of the room was fairly plain. The classroom adornments had been modified so that a singular metal chair sat in the middle of the room. It faced a modified chalkboard that appeared to be more computer-like in design than its original purpose. Static buzzed absently across its screen, almost ominous in its innocence. The walls looked just like any classroom, but any and all furniture or equipment had been emptied out aside from those two objects.
Thus far, nothing too intimidating. Perhaps this game would serve as a break, a relief from the desperate ways they were now forced to live their lives. He didn’t truly believe it, but it was nice to indulge the fantasy for a moment.
He hesitated by the door until the screen clicked on suddenly. Across it were six bold letters, flickering from the shaky connection.
Simon Says sit in the chair.
Well. The command was easy enough. Chishiya carefully made his way over to the chair, keeping his eyes peeled for anything that would provide the game’s added challenge. The game was a four of diamonds which meant that somehow intellect was going to come into this. It was possible this referred to Simon’s commands, but Chishiya wouldn’t put it past the game masters to try something more underhanded.
He settled into the chair, wincing at the uncomfortable feel of the metal. He gripped the armrests loosely, staring coolly at the screen for further instructions. He noticed that the words had colored a calming green as he listened to them.
There was a timer on the game phone shoved in his jacket pocket that slowly counted down the minutes until the game’s end. A similar timer was placed at the bottom of the screen in front of him. Twenty minutes wasn’t so bad, in the grand scheme of things. Twenty minutes was a walk in the park compared to what he had endured in the past.
This time, a voice accompanied the command on the screen. “Simon Says hold the armrests of your chair.”
He did as directed, only to have straps emerge from the sides of the chair, closing tightly over his wrists. Similar cuffs grasped his ankles by the bottom of the chair as well. That can’t end well. He tried not to overthink the vulnerable position. The important thing was to be in control of himself. Panicking would only make things worse.
The words happily dinged green once more, bringing up a new command.
“Simon Says read the following paragraph clearly and concisely.”
Chishiya furrowed his brow. A paragraph appeared underneath the command, a poem from some old author in the same bright green. “Reading?” Chishiya murmured out loud, staring at the screen. “If this is the game, I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed.”
“Simon Says read the following paragraph clearly and concisely.”
The words had transformed into a runny yellow, red creeping in at the sides. Evidently, running out the time was not allowed. He cleared his throat, narrating Emily Dickenson off the screen.
“Because I could not stop for Death, he kindly stopped for me, the carriage held—”
The rest of the paragraph got stuck in his throat as he experienced the first taste of what was meant to be the challenge of this game. Out of the seemingly smooth chair, two panels had emerged that opened and shifted to the side. Out of it came a set of mechanical hands that had touched down on his waist. He peered down at them with apprehension as they curved over the bone of his hips. Perhaps they were there to administer some kind of electric shock if he messed up?
Then, they began to move. With an almost tender gentleness, the fingers curled against his sides, wiggling gently against his shirt. Instinctively, he tensed, his fingers tightening around the armrests.
It tickled.
He was trapped in a death game and he was getting tickled.
Of everything they could have done, of course it would have been this. Chishiya pressed his lips together, doing his best to hold back his reactions. The yellow words were becoming redder by the minute, and the command rang out once more in that same dreadfully calm tone.
“Simon Says read the following paragraph clearly and concisely.”
The fingers crawled around to his front with an almost playful energy as they spidered over his stomach. He allowed himself to twitch and jerk in protest in order to focus his energy on executing the command as quickly as possible.
“—held but just ourselves, and immortality.” He tried to ignore the quake in his words along with the smile tugging at his lips. It was helpful to remind himself that Kuina would never let it go if he had survived all this time only to die from something as childish as tickling. “We slowly drove, he knew no h-haste, and I had to put away my labor and my leisure too—”
Nerve endings sparked treacherously as he read on, slowly but surely making his way through the unbearably long paragraph. The fingers had honed in on his stomach, seeming to pick up on the increased struggling that the area caused. For now, they refused to reach under the hem of his shirt for bare skin—a small mercy in this moment. He had a feeling he wouldn’t last long if they decided to explore.
Chishiya reached the end of the poem after what seemed like an eternity but in reality, could not have been more than a minute according to the timer at the bottom of the screen. The moment the words became green, he let out a hissing laugh, squeezing his eyes shut. “Shit. Shit.”
The game, apparently, did not feel that he needed a break in-between commands. The fingers continued to wiggle at an infuriatingly quick pace over his stomach. Despite this, their touch was gentle, a soft and relentless spidering that forced him to consider whether or not it was worth it to resist swatting those hands away.
“Simon Says solve this equation.”
A math problem spread across the screen, something long and complicated that involved far more letters than there ever really should be in math. A timer appeared at the bottom of the screen counting down from one minute. Chishiya was not bad at math. In fact, he quite enjoyed the simplicity of solving equations with reliable answers—it was something you could count on. He was finding his mental capacities a tad limited, however, under current circumstances.
His hands squeezed the arm rests tight as he forced himself to focus. A tight grin was pulled across his face, a mixture of mirth and irritation. Just don’t think about how much it tickles. His eyes scanned the screen as his stomach clenched with silent wheezes. Finally…
“S-Seven!"
The screen turned an annoyingly bright green, but Chishiya hardly cared as the hands had enacted a new strategy. They calmly pinched up his sides, not enough to hurt, just enough to pinpoint each nerve ending and send an electric bolt rushing down his spine. He choked on a strangled noise, squirming as much as he could in his position. They didn’t stop, either. He would’ve jumped out of his chair if he could’ve as they reached their end destination under his arms. There, they paused and continued their gentle scribbling from earlier for a couple seconds too many before moving down to repeat the process once more.
He was giggling now, and found himself grateful that these challenges had been isolated at the very least. Having an audience to this gentle destruction would have been the final straw. Red crept up to his ears as it was, but the game was uncaring of any embarrassment he might have felt.
Chishiya worked his way through five more equations in what was technically only three minutes but felt like an eternity. Around question four, a new panel had opened in the chair allowing feathers to curl and flick over his neck. Somehow, this was almost worse than the tickling under his arms—annoying and ticklish. He scrunched against their gentle touch, squinting to try to focus on the numbers floating in his vision.
He yelped out the answer frantically as one of the feathers twirled innocently in his ear. “Undefinehehed!”
The screen transformed into a violent red. “Simon Says that is incorrect—strike one."
Another few panels opened up and Chishiya lurched forward as hands gripped onto his knees, squeezing them in quick, repetitive motions. He hadn’t even realized the knees were a particularly ticklish area, at least not on himself. However, each squeeze was like electricity shooting up his legs and exploding out through his nervous system.
He was grateful, at the very least, that he didn’t need to stay quiet during this stage. He cackled wildly as the tickling overwhelmed his senses, twisting against the restraints. A quick glance up displayed that the screen had transformed to the same problem from before, only this time the red was creeping in at a much faster rate. He scanned the problem over and over again, attempting to figure out where he went wrong. It was only strike one, but he couldn’t afford to acquire any more.
“Zero?” he hazarded, gritting the word out.
The screen flashed green, and he exhaled shakily. Thank god. The tickling wasn’t terribly intense considering all that he had been through, but it was much harder to tolerate when he knew that giving into it meant putting his life on the line.
The last ten minutes passed slower than seemed possible. The final stage was puzzles. Riddles, word problems, or sometimes physical puzzles on the screen where he had to dictate where each piece would go. Chishiya had often prided himself on his ability to stay cool under pressure, a fact that had been proven many times to him while surviving the games. But this was a new level of hell. Concentration was impossible under such circumstances, and he received another strike only a few minutes after the first one.
The hands were everywhere now. Metallic fingers spidered mercilessly over his soles as his feet twitched and jumped at each touch, unable to move far as their position pressed them right into the hands’ awaiting touch. There were two pairs of hands for his thighs and knees, three for his torso, and of course the feathers for his neck which surprisingly proved to be the most irritating out of all of everything. Chishiya had been tickled before, of course, but never like this. He wheezed and giggled and cursed as he read each riddle, forcing himself to choke the laughter back when he finally gave his answer. It was a terribly gentle hell, and Chishiya didn’t know if he was going to survive it.
Possibly the worst aspect of it all was that he might have enjoyed it if there were not the threat of death on the line. The thought surprised him when it occurred, but he couldn’t deny it even as it brought a flush to his cheeks. He couldn’t remember the last time he had smiled, really smiled, let alone laughed. Forgotten rushes of dopamine flooded his mind as his nerves thrilled at the touch even as they ran from it. Touch was such a simple pleasure, and yet, he hadn’t felt it in this gentle way in so long. He felt… giddy. Happy. Alive.
He almost wished the game would end and leave him there, just for a moment, to allow him to really indulge in the tickling and give himself over to it. There was something relieving about the notion of releasing the control he had been forced to hold onto so tightly all these past couple months.
These musings were tinged by a dark stain of anxiety and fear as to what giving up that control would mean, however. He ignored them for now in favor of the much more pressing goal of keeping himself alive.
He barely noticed when the time ran out, the phone in his pocket trilling merrily at his victory. The tickling ended all at once as hands retracted back into the metal chair, and he slumped backwards, his features still stuck in a grin. His skin tingled with phantom tickles, and he wrapped his arms around himself in an attempt to dampen the feeling. Triumph and disappointment raged inside him. He waited a moment to gather his breath and collect himself before walking over to the door.
Kuina was waiting for him outside. He tried to ignore the rush of relief her presence ignited inside himself—she had made it. She was leaning against a wall with her eyes closed. One peeked open at his approaching. She did not appear as frazzled as Chishiya felt, and he frowned, wondering if she had undergone a different trial in her room.
“You’re alive,” she noted, unable to help her own slight smile. They didn’t talk about the risks that came with these games often, but there was unmistakable joy in their eyes whenever they saw each other again on the other side. They never said anything about it. It was better not to voice attachments in a place like this. “As usual.”
“So are you.” He was quickly arranging his features back into a cool mask, hoping he didn’t look as flushed as the warmth in his cheeks indicated. “What did they do to you?”
“What did they do to you?”
They were both silent, holding each other’s gaze. Chishiya was the first to drop it, dodging past her toward the exit. “Nothing worth remembering. Let’s head back, though. I think I deserve a nap after that.”
She watched him for a moment, but quickly shrugged, moving to follow him. He rubbed a finger over his palm as he walked, tracing the skin there with the tip of his nail. Sensation sparked gently at his touch, before falling flat a moment later as his body recognized his owner. He frowned, rubbing away the feeling and shoving his hands into his pockets.
He was looking forward to some rest. They had a long day ahead of them tomorrow.

"I got you some water." An smiles sadly as she places the glass on the dresser at the end of the bed, the sun just high enough to cast a dull light in the room. "You should eat."
You shook your head from where it was buried underneath Chishiyas's pillow. "No."
"Come on." She taps her foot against the floor, the old floorboards creaking underneath hers "Wallowing here won't change anything. Chishiya is slimy, he will walk out of that game, no matter what it is, without a scratch."
"Maybe not but it makes me feel better about it." You groan.
"Up. Now." This time it's Kuina who tries but unlike An her approach isn't as soft. "When he comes back you want to look put together, not be sitting in your sweaty sheets so up, now, shower, eat, read a book, cry. I don't care but get up." She throws the blanket off despite your grip, it hits the wall and drops onto the floor, her now empty hands find yours without an issue, pulling you up with a grunt.
"You're mean."
She smiles, her nose scrunching. "You're moping. Up."
"You're like a mother." You huff. "Determined."
"Well, that's the best way to be." She defends unbothered. "You're going to get up, help me make breakfast, eat, shower and then we are going to brainstorm a little as I found a few maps and thought we could figure out how the city has been divided for the next games so when Chishiya does, and he will return we have something worked out."
"Are you sure you don't want to go back to the camper you were at?" You ask, one eye open.
"Nope, you've spoiled me with a life of luxury here, up." She finally drags you up and for the first time, you let her.
Withering away in bed was definitely a depressing act that Chishiya would be disgustingly against but then again he wasn't here.
"No thinking." She chastises. "Let's be positive."
You're grateful for her, you truly are. "Okay."
"Great." She snaps her fingers, and points at An. "You shower first, we will make breakfast."
An agreed without argument, seemingly happy to be relieved from cooking duty. "So what do you want to make?"
"I don't know." She hums as she dances around the kitchen, pulling out random things from the cupboard. "What about oats and fruit?"
"When, if, we go back to the real world I am never so much as looking at fruit again." You groan, moving to help her boil the water needed for the meal. "I miss real food."
"Me too." She laughs, cutting up canned fruits - a staple in your miserable diet.
You liked Kuina so much because she knew when you needed a moment to yourself, she knew when to impose and when to let you find peace in the thoughts that have your mind whirring continuously but she also knew when to pull you out of your own head.
"Make sure you don't let it go lumpy!" She chides, stirring the pot for you when you zone out. "God, can you imagine Chishiya coming back to a burnt-down house because someone couldn't focus?"
"If he comes back." You supply.
She turned the heat down, the food was practically ready to be out until serving bowls. "He will."
"I'm sorry I'm being so dramatic about this." You apologise helplessly. "I'm just worrying."
"It's okay to worry but this isn't the kind of world where you can get lost in thought. Yes, this house is nice but it isn't impenetrable, you have to be aware." She says the words softly but you know her well enough to know how serious she is.
And she was right.
"I'll do better." You promise. "I won't be the reason we all die."
"Now who said anything about dying?" An smiles as she towels at her hair. "Let me plate this up, you two go and set out the maps."
Kuina takes your hand and leads you to the table. "So we found these earlier, we know that the border was visible from the beach so we can start there and work our way around."
"Wait." An carries in two bowls, placing them in front of Kuina and yourself before returning to collect hers along with the necessary cutlery. "Okay keep going."
Kuina smiles at her fondly as she pops a piece of fruit in her mouth and pics up a pen. "So if we start here we can figure out where the games so far have been and try and find a pattern.
"I had mine here." You pick up a pen circling the familiar locations, thankfully street signs still exist in this world. "Chishiya mentioned that the further out it got the more it looked as though the forest was consuming the city."
"Okay so." An picks up a pencil near her. "The caravan we were at was around here, the border was really close to us."
Kuina and An both mark places they remember playing games. "It's as though it's a big circle."
"So is this some kind of dome?" You ask. "What happens if you step outside of it?"
"Remember the room at the train station?" An points to the building on the map. "When we went it had been cleared out but that doesn’t change the fact that they had to have people controlling the game and I think they still do but the forest is there to stop us accessing them. Having them directly in the borderlands is too risky.”
It was a plausible theory. "Or they needed to make the arena smaller because there's no rules and no one to manage the game."
Kuina sits quietly to the side whilst you and An riff off one another until she jumps up as though being struck by some genius idea. "Wait, Mira was at the beach so we can presume she had easy access in and out of the arena - if we are calling it that - but where did she go when we all left the beach? Did either of you see her?"
You'd been so caught up in the situation with Chishiya you hadn't given it much thought. "No, An?"
"No. After Kuina and I got separated I headed outside as fast as possible. Why?"
Kuina slumped back down. "I didn't see her after that, no one had because I remember someone making a comment about it when we made the fire the same night. I thought she had died in the building but she didn't, she must have had an exit relatively close to be able to slip away unseen."
"You think the exit is  near the beach?" You ask. "Wouldn't someone have found it already?"
She shook her head. "Not necessarily, we believed the only way out was through the train station so we focused our attempts there but I think there's a reason the border was so close to the beach and one of the people running this shit show happened to be there."
"It's not a bad thought but does it even matter where the exit is? I doubt they will let us walk out of here that easily. Clearly, they aren't above murder." You point out.
"No, but if we could get people together we may be able to force our way out." You all know it's unlikely but it's a hope you feel she needs so you don't argue over it.
An finishes her food, placing her spoon in her now empty bowl. "I think the only way we are getting out is by completing the cards but I do think they have another entrance and exit. They clearly don't reside in this part of the borderlands."
"So what exactly do you think the borderlands are?" You put your bowl aside, the small appetite you had already been fulfilled.
Kuina sighs dejectedly. "I have no idea but I think that our death here is very much permanent."
"Do you think we die in the real world when we die here?"
"I'm sure it's something people have considered and tried but there's no real way for us to know if that's true or not and I don't think it's worth risking it." An is realistic in a way you can't help but appreciate it.
"This is pointless, we need to go out and actually explore but we can't because there's a freaking gun-wielding maniac with a specific goal to kill everyone in sight." Kuina spits.
Brainstorming was a good way to pass the time but it led to nothing and left you feeling more annoyed and clueless than you had been an hour earlier. "How long do you two have on your visas?"
"A few days." Kuina eyes An. "Both of us only have a few days."
"You'll have to play again." The oats feel too heavy for your stomach.
An confirms it. "We will."
"When?"
"Whenever the next blimp comes, we were going to go with Chishiya but I didn't want to leave you alone."
You grabbed a pillow hitting her with it. "You could die because your visa runs out and you chose to babysit me over joining a game?!"
She bats you away. "If Chishiya dies, he won't but if he does, you'll be distraught and I couldn't put you through that."
Your heart softens at her thoughtfulness. Even in a world like this people like Kuina existed making an unbearable life a little easier. You take her hand in yours.  "You're important to me too, both of you and I don't want any of you to come to harm. The thought of losing you to a game it's unfathomable. I need you both, you and Chishiya but I don't want you risking your safety for me."
"We want you to be okay." An holds out her hand and you happily accept that too. "Thank you for caring about us and giving us a place to find some semblance of peace and comfort."
"You'll always be welcome here." You hated how it seemed like a goodbye but you didn't want them to leave in a hurry and the three of you had no time to talk. "We need to do something fun, I found something I think you will enjoy."
You ignore their questions as you skip to the bedroom, pulling out the box of makeup you had come across when you tried to find some suitable clothes.
"Oh, my makeup." Kuina hopped up, taking the box from your hands to empty the contents across the forgotten maps. "Makeovers, now."
"I'll get some snacks." An taps your leg, taking the bowls into the kitchen.
"She takes care of you." You observed
Kuina looks towards the door An had gone through. "She does."
"You deserve it." You wink at her, pulling out a tube of mascara. "Do you think I'll get an infection from using someone else's makeup?"
"Can't be worse than getting an infection from the deadly games we play." She shrugs.
You can't help but laugh, it wasn't a funny situation but the reality that had become your new normal was unbelievable. "Tasteful."
"Why thank you, come here let me see if this is your shade."
"And if it isn't?" You look between the foundation and her face.
She shrugs, grabbing a sponge. "Then you'll be orange."
An laughs, carefully dropping a few packets of crackers and cookies on the table. "All you need in a world of death is to look exactly like an Oompa Loompa."
"Accurate." Kuina agrees.
You aren't sure exactly when you stop overthinking but as the hours pass the worries that had kept you chained to your bed pass, replaced by awful jokes that would definitely have all three of you swiftly removed from a comedy club, makeup that looked much better than you'd thought and snacks that were stale but still good enough to enjoy.
You hoped in your heart you'd get to have this with them even outside of this world.
Now you'd found your people you weren't sure you'd ever be ready to let them go, you couldn't say what you'd do if it came to be that you'd lose them all by returning to the 'normal world'.
"Stay still." Kuina taps Ans leg. "I don't want to stab you in the eye with this wand."
"It's not my fault you're making me laugh."
Kuina playfully rolls her eyes. "Well, I'll shut up then."
You're content watching them in their little bubble until the house starts shaking, a noise loud enough to have you all dropping down for cover.
The sound moves. "It's moving over us!"
"Outside quickly!" Kuina shouts.
All three of you scramble outside, still wary of danger. "What is it?"
"It's loud." An shouts, the mechanical whirring making it hard to hear her even as she stood behind you. "Oh my god."
A blimp passes overhead, and the Queen of Clubs card is visible from where you all stand.
"Well, that was fast." You mutter dryly.
There was a joke to be made about the situation, the three of you in full glam makeup watching a blimp pass over your makeshift house, a blimp that carried a card indicating a game where people were bound to die, but you just couldn't find it in you to make one.
Neither could Kuina or An, it made sense, they would be joining that exact game.
And you'd be all alone.

The Pain Before (Niragi x Reader) Part 12
Part 11, Series Masterlist, Part 13
(** Smut w/ “plot”)
Kuina tapped harder on the door, its inside echoing with the rhythm of her knuckles. She huffed in the empty hallway, biting the candy stick she had in her mouth. She stood listening to the silence before rolling her eyes, letting herself in, and closing the door behind her. 'If he gets upset, he would just be upset,' she thought. "I've been standing outside your door for close to five minutes--" She stopped before the bed as she looked on questioningly, staring at his back.
"Uh... Everything go alright last night?"
She began to fidget with the candy stick more as her question was met with more silence. She gave Chishiya another moment before pressing further, "Did everything... Not go alright last night?" She observed him as his head seemed to drop, his back hunched over. Kuina had seen many defeated people in the Borderlands, but never Chishiya. He would be the last person she would ever expect to be in this position at any given time. If something goes wrong, he always has another card up his sleeve.
"Hey, Chishiya..." She slowly walked alongside the bed and around, carefully sitting next to him. "Where's (Y/N)?" He shifted at the question, his eyes planted on the ground in front of him. "... I don't know." He stated bluntly. Kuina held back the urge to shake him senselessly as she tried to pull more out of him, "... What? What the hell happened Chishiya? Did you find out what you needed to?"
He stayed silent for a moment before slowly licking his lips, carefully contemplating his next words. He sighed and lifted his head, his eyes briefly looking over at Kuina, "Yeah. I did. Maybe more than what I wanted to." She gave him a curious look before looking down at her hands resting on her knees. "I don't feel great about my part in that... Getting a girl drunk and having someone drug her just... Gives me the ick."
Chishiya turned his head to look at her as she wiggled, his brow raised slightly. "You say that as if I'd take advantage of her."
Kuina sighed and stood, taking the candy stick out of her mouth for a moment to speak. "There's more than one way to take advantage of someone, you know. I'll be by the pool until game time." She didn't wait for a response before leaving his room, closing his door behind her. She swallowed the lump forming in her throat, forcing the thoughts of you out of her mind. Her loyalty was with Chishiya, but she knew as well as he did, that she also wished to be loyal to you as well.
You opened your eyes to the sun already towering in the sky, your head throbbing at the sight. You grimaced at the light and turned your head down, opening your eyes to see Niragi laying peacefully under you. The heat rose to your cheeks quickly as you took in your positions. Both hands rested carefully on his bare chest, one of his arms wrapped around your waist, the other of his supporting his head under the pillow. The pain seemed to disappear without another thought as you unknowingly took in his sleeping face.
Niragi looked so peaceful, so at rest under you. You could feel your body slowly rise and fall with his chest, the sun highlighting his features so effortlessly. "Enjoying the view?" Your eyes snapped to his as he murmured, barely opening an eye to look up at you. Your words escaped as you studdered over them, your thoughts not forming correctly. It felt like you'd been caught as you felt your face flush.
You went to push yourself off him as he laughed, wrapping his hand tighter around your waist and holding you to him. "I... I should get back to my room, Niragi," He sighed heavily and closed his eyes again, "... No." You tried to hide your fluster even though he wasn't looking at you, "I still need breakfast, and to shower--" He silenced your protests rather quickly, meeting your lips with his own, his tongue forcing itself through. Your heart quickened as his hand wandered under your shirt, going up and down your back while drawing light circles on your skin.
Niragi reached up to cup the back of your neck with his other hand, pulling you down into him. You closed your eyes as his tongue swirled around yours, the cold metal gently gliding across the roof of your mouth briefly. Your mouth opened in a gasp as Niragi rose his knee in between your thighs, his hand that made gentle circles now moving downward to firmly grab your waist. His lips turned upward into a smile as he took in the soft moan that escaped you, pushing himself into you.
You let out a yelp in surprise as Niragi hurriedly flipped your body underneath him, his hand running along the outside of your thigh. Your body squirmed under his gaze, and you could see his prideful smile as he watched your reaction. He lowered himself down to your ear, carefully whispering to you, "You'll shower here... With me." He could see the embarrassment creep up, washing over you. Niragi smiled and let out a soft chuckle as he swept strands of your hair away from your neck, gently sucking the skin under your ear and slowly leaving trails down your neck.
He felt you squirm under him, your arms splaying down his back, ushering him closer. Niragi roughly dug his fingers into your skin, knowing for certain you would have bruises later from it. He couldn't help but let his pride show as his wet tongue ran along the side of your neck, lifting his face to press his forehead against yours. He lifted your leg and wrapped it around his waist, lowering himself to grind against you.
Niragi watched as your eyes fluttered against the sensation, your chest rising and falling heavily with your breath. He examined your face carefully, taking in every small involuntary motion you made. His lips came down to linger above yours, exchanging his breath with your own. You caught his eyes in yours as you felt your breath hitch in your throat, Niragi stopping suddenly. You looked at each other carefully, his eyes darting between yours, his tongue slowly wetting his lips.
He cupped the side of your face, his thumb gently caressing your cheek in his hand. You leaned into the warmth, his fingers carefully massaging the back of your head as your hand overlapped his. Niragi dipped his head into your neck, his breath tickling your ear as he gently tugged on the lobe, stopping only to sink his teeth into your neck as his hips gently bucked, a soft moan escaping your lips.
Niragi could feel the irritation as his pants tightened, shoving his hand down to unzip his pants, kicking them off hurriedly as he repositioned himself between you. He stole a quick glance, checking for any sign of discomfort. He leaned in close for a moment, his voice low as he whispered, "... Do you want this?" You could feel your cheeks flush as you slowly nodded, swallowing the lump in your throat.
He stared at you, his eyes searching yours for a moment. "Say it."
"I... I want this, Niragi." You watched as he grinned, quickly pushing his lips into yours hungrily, breaking to travel down your neck, dipping his tongue into your collarbone as your soft breath turned into music to his ears. Niragi couldn't help but smirk as your back arched slightly, reacting to his touch. His hands began wandering down your side as you grasped his bare shoulders, feeling your eyes roll back as Niragi's hips thrust into you. His hand grabbed and dug into your thigh as it explored upward, his fingers pulling at the bikini strap that covered you.
You gasped at another sudden thrust, your eyes meeting Niragi's as he grinned at your reaction. The metal tongue piercing gleamed off the sunlight illuminating the room as he ran his tongue over his teeth. You felt a shiver run down you as he lowered his head into your neck, sucking the skin forcefully, his body weighing on top of you as his hips bucked in rhythm. Your leg pulled him in closer, making him shoot you a surprised look.
Niragi watched you carefully as he untied your bikini, making quick work of your top as well. He leaned back for a moment and stared at you, moving his shirt that still covered you to the side as his hands wandered, gripping your thigh around him tightly. He leaned in, running a hand through his hair quickly to push it back as his lips crashed into you, his tongue swirling around yours. You pushed yourself up against him as your hand wandered down to his briefs, sinking your hand into them.
You heard him groan into your mouth as you stroked his erection, his tongue becoming more forceful. Niragi hurriedly pushed his briefs down and broke away from you, frantically throwing them to the side. He could feel his heart speed up at your touch, grabbing your wrist and pinning it above your head. His free hand reached down to your core, his fingers gently gliding across your entrance. Your body jolted suddenly as two fingers entered you quickly with ease, a moan escaping your throat.
Niragi caught your gaze with his, a grin on his face as he teased you, "Fuck... You're so wet..." He chuckled lowly, planting light kisses across your jawline. Your non-restrained hand grabbed onto his onyx hair, giving it a light tug as his fingers began pumping into you slowly. Niragi savored the sounds emanating from you, taking in every soft whimper you released as his fingers curled into you rhythmically.
"Ni-Niragi..." He looked up as you murmured his name, relishing the way his name spilled from your lips. His rhythm slowly increased as he watched your face carefully, observing every time your breath hitched. He placed his thumb gently on your clit, rubbing small circles as he felt your pulse on his fingertips. Feeling you tense he released your wrist, cupping your cheek in his hand as he pulled his fingers from you, positioning his member at your entrance, taking in the warmth coming from your core. He leaned into you slowly, gently guiding his tip further in carefully as his lips eagerly brushed against yours, releasing a moan into your mouth as he felt himself disappear into you.
The sound you made at that moment drove him near crazy. He clenched the sheets as he sunk himself into you completely, his mind going blank as he inhaled sharply at the feel of you surrounding him. You could feel yourself adjusting around him as he began pacing himself, grabbing his shoulder to steady your body as his pace quickened. He brought his head down to your shoulder to sink his teeth into your skin, making sure to leave an obvious mark for all to see.
Niragi groaned in your ear as he heard your soft moans, trying to stop himself from getting too rough. "Ni-Niragi," you studdered over your own words as you tried to speak, "Th-that feels so... So good," your voice shook as his hips snapped into you, unable to contain his want any longer. Your fingers dug into his shoulder roughly, trying to hold yourself still. His hand grabbed onto your thigh, pressing it against him as his hips bucked.
"Oh, fuck..." He muttered into your ear, his voice low. "You're so fucking perfect (Y/N)," his breath on your ear sent a shiver down your entire body, your insides clenching around him as he thrust himself into you. Niragi pulled back for just a moment, his hips continuing their rhythm as his eyes took in the sight before him.
"I could've had this before," his mind taunted him. His hand wandered down to play with you once more, making light circles on your clit, watching as your back arched in response. Niragi watched as you moaned quietly, your eyes starting to glaze over. He gripped your thigh and lifted it onto his shoulder, planting light kisses up and down your leg as he pumped into you.
Leaning down, he could feel himself starting to lose his rhythm as he met with your lips, his moans melting with your own. You grabbed onto his hair, gently tugging as you felt your abdomen pool with heat. Your name echoed from his lips as he snapped into you roughly, soft grunts releasing into your mouth.
Niragi grabbed hold of the hand in his hair, pinning it above your head as his other tightened on your thigh, his hips sloppily thrusting into you roughly. His eyes wandered in search of yours as you stared into the ceiling above you, the walls growing darker as you could feel yourself falling into your release. He felt your body clench under him as his pace increased, slamming his lips into yours, breaking only to mutter curses mixed with moans into your mouth.
Your nails dug into the skin of his shoulder as you felt yourself come undone beneath him, the fire building finally being released through your body. Niragi watched as your face relaxed, admiring the way your mouth moved when you cried out his name, knowing he was the one that made you like this. His hips slammed into you as he felt himself about to reach his own peak, your soft breaths quickly pushing him over the edge.
His head rolled as he grunted in your ear, "Oh fuck, (Y/N)..." Your legs shook at the continued movement, your vision slowly returning to you. Your eyes wandered up to Niragi above you, his bare chest now slick with a thin layer of sweat. His hips jerked into you roughly as he cursed, his teeth sinking into your shoulder as he groaned, feeling himself burst into you, leaving his final mark.
Your breaths mingled together in the silence, filling the room. Niragi released your wrist, his head leaning to rest on your chest. Your hand stroked his hair, gently weaving in between the strands as his back rose and fell with his breath. He looked up at you slowly, grasping your chin and tilting it down to look at him.
"(Y/N)..."
"Y-yeah, Niragi?"
He stared silently for a moment, licking his lips carefully. His voice was soft and gentle, the opposite of his words. "You're mine. And only mine. Nobody is ever gonna lay a hand on you again... I'll make sure of it."
You swallowed a lump in your throat, unable to look away from his gaze. The words felt more like a threat than a promise, you thought. Seemingly noticing your unease, he lifted himself up off you and cupped your cheek, kissing you roughly. As he pulled back, his thumb ran over your swollen lips, his eyes tracing their outline. Releasing a slight groan as he pulled out of you, Niragi grabbed his briefs, pulled them on, and made his way for the bathroom.
You sat up on the bed, your eyes searching for your top that was discarded earlier. Clothing yourself, you buttoned up Niragi's shirt that still adorned your shoulders. You jumped as you felt a pair of hands wrap around you, quickly realizing who it was when he chuckled.
"Did I scare you?"
Even though you couldn't see Niragi, you could hear his grin. "I didn't hear you..." You felt instant relief as he pulled you into his chest, the warmth seeping through the fabric of his shirt. His scent overtook your senses as you leaned your head back into his neck, his hands creeping under your shirt to rest on your bare skin.
You closed your eyes as you felt his lips against your neck, planting gentle kisses on every spot he marked, almost acting as a physical apology. "I hope it didn't hurt too much," he chuckled. You hummed at his words, trying not to become embarrassed. "I-it was... Good... I liked it," you pursed your lips together, hoping he couldn't see your cheeks flush. You could hear his breath in your ear as he whispered, "Gotta let everyone know who you belong to."
Chishiya tried not to pace in the lobby, his hands firmly in his pockets. He was certain his physical demeanor was on point; cold and distant, unapproachable by most. But mentally, his mind was driving him crazy. He wasn't used to this feeling, whatever it was. He had studied medicine for years and could handle nearly any physical diagnosis. But mental? It was still quite a mystery to him, much to his displeasure. Kuina stood near him, not making eye contact. He could tell she was still upset, another thing that irked him at this particular moment.
Chishiya withheld himself from looking over when he felt eyes piercing into his back, knowing full well who those eyes belonged to. "Niragi," he thought. His mind was overcome with memories of the night prior, his mind finally putting two and two together as he placed this overwhelming feeling, guilt, is what most would call it.
His breath hitched as he heard your voice from behind him, his eyes just barely wandering over to Kuina nearly lunging toward you. He hid his concern as he took notice of the marks and bruises covering your neck and legs. Kuina blocked his sight of you, or perhaps she was blocking your sight of him. He didn't care for it either way.
"Are you alright? What happened? Did..." Kuina's voice grew quiet, though not quite enough for Chishiya not to hear. "Did Niragi do this to you?" He felt his heart skip a beat as he turned his full attention to them, his breath held in his throat, unable to come out. As you opened your mouth to speak, the crowd erupted as Hatter took his place on the balcony. All eyes were on their leader, all eyes except for one.
"The games are upon us again!" Hatter started his speech as normal. Chishiya's eyes wandered over your body worriedly, his final thought from yesterday playing over and over again in his mind, this time accompanied by an afterthought.
"Shit, shit, shit...  This is all my fault."
Chishiya looked to the balcony, trying to maintain his composure. His eyes stopped on Niragi, smugly looking down at him from above. He felt his fingernails dig into his palms as the two held gazes. Niragi's eyes said one thing, "I won."

I've read manga my whole life and then I sat down and want to make a little bit of art with that feel and realize I don't know what effects to use.
If you're wondering, Wado Ichimonji was purposefully left back in the dojo.
While I imagine Kuina to be a bit traditional though not as uptight as her father, she's also grown up to be largely rebellious. She wants to prove herself. She's got 'a chip on her shoulder'. Might one day write a fic for her, but basically she'd start out challenging marine sword wielders to spars with only her shinai, ends up beating them, is both proud but also dissatisfied to search for opponents that would actually pose a challenge. Discovers the thrill of fighting people with bounties who fight for their life, fighting with their all, and starts chasing that adrenaline while still searching for a sword to carry to the top.
I kinda want her to cross paths with Buggy here -but a Buggy who is still not a pirate and very loud about definitely not being a pirate and never going to Grandline and stubbornly declaring himself a Blue kind of guy definitely, what about Grandline and pirates, he doesn't know anything about that, he's just a treasure hunter, treasure hunter! Ignore the three calling him Captain, those idiots are just his lion he'd decided to bring along, the lion's caretaker and emotional support human, and the lion's caretaker's emotional support human on a unicycle-, which comes from my idea that Buggy has been failing upwards since years ago. Basically, Buggy has shutdown about his whole childhood and the world just thinks of him as a small time ringmaster in a small time circus, that snapped for being too smalltime for so long and became a treasure hunter- and then a pirate. But I digress, that's going to happen later, in about 2 years maybe?
Anyways. As I was saying, Kuina is a solo act, has no navigational knowledge past the basics because she left her home all of a sudden and was barely able to prepare anything so she picks up some unconventional ways of going about that.
She looses the ship not much later, and her encounter with Buggy somehow leads to being told of some such technique of being able to run on air and decides to learn that despite not knowing where to start, bullheading the beginnings of the techniques Buggy very, very reluctantly recounts.
Kuina calls him Buggy-san and this will later comeback as Emperor Buggy-sama Totally Mentoring The Kuina even though no such thing actually happened.
She meets a guy who suddenly looses consciousness on his food, approaches him out of concern, and Portgas D. Ace almost dies years earlier bcs of his bad habit of wiping his face on someone's skirt.
They get into a bit of shenanigans, half of Kuina's hakama burns and she gets a costume update, an offer might have been extended and summarily rejected, and Ace is returned to Deuce and the rest of his still motley crew.
Kuina finally finds a swords and secures it to her hip right beside her shinai, and goes on a final hunt, choosing the Captain of the Black Cat pirates as her prey. Beats fear into him and almost succeeds bringing him in, but unfortunately looses him at the last second, pushing him into hiding. Still tries to find him while she figures out the way for a lone swordsman to enter the Grandline, eventually does discover a method and leaves East Blue, practically forgetting the prey that got away.
I do have art for her clothes and encounter with Ace but neither are done yet.

So, I started thinking about a Kuina Lives + Strawhat Kuina AU specifically because of a paragraph on the wiki page. I was looking up info on Shimotsuki Village while I was taking down notes for a potential Pre-Canon ZoLu fic inspired by the live-action show.
Allegedly, the infamous 4kids dub CHANGED things so that Kuina didn't die, she was PERMANENTLY DISABLED to the point of being unable to pursue her dream. And my brain went: "?!" I see no reason why (aside from a few very extreme cases of disability) a disabled Kuina could not become a Strawhat pirate and go on adventures anyway! (Franky is a CYBORG who looks increasingly like a MECHA and Chopper's pills are BONKERS.)
Relevant quote: "Per standard policies, the 4Kids-dubbed anime censored her death, stating that she had been permanently injured by the friends of a man she'd defeated (and removing all scenes depicting her funeral or grave)." Which is driving my brain UP THE WALL with possibility when Kuina and Tashigi also supposedly both have names referencing flightless birds. The THEMES. The SYMBOLISM.
Personally, I still prefer Kuina becoming injured in an innocuous fall rather than having people directly responsible for her physical disability. The degree of her injury depends on what story that a person is individually writing. I see two potential ways forward (of many) that both interest me.
OPTION A: Kuina is physically disabled to the point of being unable to fight well generally, especially with swords. She uses a wheelchair and crutches to get around, and has some other lingering issues. So, like, she can definitely still whack people with a sword and shoot a gun, but Zoro is wielding Wado Ichimonji because Kuina feels she cannot do it justice. (But she's still supervising!!! She's Zoro's coach.)
Kuina's grandfather was a swordsmith, so in this case, she would end up in a smith, weapons expert, and quartermaster role for the Strawhats. She, Usopp, and Franky can be the Crafting Team! Ship maintenance crew! Kuina takes Merry's sinking nearly as badly as Usopp does.
OPTION B: Kuina has "mostly" recovered from her injury, which set her back for several years, but is still struggling. A dedicated female fighter on the Strawhat crew is VERY tempting as an idea. Monster quartet, yes? Yes! She's wielding Wado Ichimonji and Zoro is still searching for his own dedicated swords.
She could still be a swordsmith and quartermaster in this case! In either case, A or B, I think it might be cool to give Kuina a hook? (Kuina @ Crocodile: "Compensating for something, huh?") She could get other prosthetics or just super cool assistive devices as the story goes on with Chopper and Franky's help.
KUINA'S POTENTIAL ARCS: I do really like the idea of Kuina (if she can still fight with a sword) and Zoro moving forward together, neck and neck, for the title of World's Greatest Swordsman. I think it would be cool to come to a resolution that the title is more or less something that they can share? Like, only one of them can beat Mihawk in a "fair" duel, so that's an issue in the competition between them, but I do like the idea of the two of them going back and forth beating each other in duels, at the top of the world together.
Arguably, when Zoro sacrifices himself at the end of the Thriller Bark Arc, he has come to the resolution that he'll give up his dream for Luffy and the crew, where he gives up the last remnants of being self-centred and throws himself completely behind Luffy's philosophy of friendship and enjoying the journey. He still wants to be the World's Greatest Swordsman, but his crew comes first. I don't recall after this point any reckless moments of a similar nature to him stabbing himself in Orange Town when fighting Buggy's crew to prove a point. Zoro's recklessness culminates in sacrificing himself with purpose.
It does feel a little weak, but... Kuina could decide that she's comfortable in her own skills and doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. She KNOWS she's as good as Zoro is. She can declare herself the World's Greatest Swordswoman and let Zoro fight Mihawk. (They did probably flip a coin over it or something.) Maybe she never really wanted to be the World's Greatest, maybe she just wanted to live her life the way that she chose, and felt like becoming the World's Greatest was the only way of permanently shutting up every sexist jerk who has ever talked down to her. (They will never shut up. Sexist jerks will always find something to nitpick.)
ALTERNATIVELY: Kuina could have a heartbreaking and healing story about having to give up your dream because it's not physically possible anymore. Even if this is a story where she's still fighting as a swordswoman with Wado Ichimonji and is monstrously dangerous, maybe her physical disability prevents her from now fighting on Zoro's level, which really fucking sucks for her when she feels like she has so much to prove as a woman.
Shounen manga has always had an issue where the solution to some fights is that the protagonist just needs to "fight harder, yell louder, and believe in himself more", even when the protagonist is bleeding from everywhere. "One Piece" is fun because there are plenty of fights and problems where the protagonists succeed due to being genuinely clever, but there are other fights where it's all about a manifestation of willpower (sometimes literally). And this often works thematically.
I think Kuina would be interesting as a character for how she could contrast against Zoro, so I'm leaning towards giving her a very different story rather than making her Zoro 2.0 (Female).
For example, where Zoro is reckless, I think Kuina might be cautious, especially if she's been badly injured before and is still struggling. In flashbacks, she's open about her problems and anger to Zoro because he's her friend and also a safe target - he's an outsider / outlier in the dojo and she can beat him in a fight. In a martial school that probably demands some level of respectful behavior, Kuina might not display the same bravado and unhappiness to her father, who is also her teacher and responsible for the sexism that she's internalized.
If she's a swordswoman still, I don't know that she would challenge Mihawk at the Baratie. For one thing, it's STUPID. Zoro had to KNOW that he was nowhere near Mihawk's level and he's lucky that Mihawk had some level of honor and curiosity to spare him. If Mihawk had been a little more of an asshole, that would have been the end of Zoro's dream. He was really stupid there (affectionate, that's my boy). The smart thing to do is keep your mouth shut and live to challenge Mihawk another day, but I think Kuina would also hate herself for this kind of "cowardice".
Her personal struggle as a character might be with reserve and fear of risk, whether this culminates in her ultimately overcoming all obstacles and succeeding in her dream with the help of her friends, or in her giving up her dream due to a physical disability (or multiple physical disabilities) that is no fault of her own in favor of a new dream. You could try your best to combine all of these different elements into Kuina's arcs and abilities. There's a lot of possibility.

(This is a real comment on my One Piece fic)

Say you misunderstood the crux of Zoro’s backstory without saying you misunderstood it.
Never in my life have I seen such an incorrect take.

i had actually forgotten that the remix author reveals would be happening this week—then i got a new comment on the fic and realized my reply was attached to my ao3 handle instead of “anonymous author”
i was assigned @chromatic-lamina, who’s written quite a lot of one piece fic. you’d think that would be helpful, but it actually made it very hard for me to decide which one to remix—and i still kind of want to do something with their hospital au full of flower symbolism—but in the end i decided to remix one of their art-inspired pieces, house / yorishiro. in that fic zoro is drunk and melancholy about kuina and camellias and symbolism, and i remixed it so kuina is the one being melancholy about camellias and symbolism.
it’s not anything like my usual op writing—this is in no way a fix-it or a happy story—but it was a lot of fun to write. i hope you enjoy it, if you give it a try.

yo I'm back! this is a very long story that I made
Tumblr media
"Seriously?" Y/n stood in front of a sitting kuina
"Y/n pleeeeeaseeee" she put her hands together and begged
"Ughhh fine but ONLY this one time" y/n said pointing a finger at the girl
"Yay, now go" she pushed y/n and y/n glared at the girl
Y/n walked to a guy in the crowd and tapped on his shoulder. He turned around and looked tipsy
"Hey! That girl over there thinks you're cute" she pointed to kuina and kuina smiled, waving
"She's hot. So are you" he started getting closer. Y/n had pushed him back and as a result he fell in the pool
Y/n covered her mouth trying not to laugh. She turned to kuina and kuina was already laughing hard as can be. Y/n let loose and started laughing too
"What are you laughing at bitch?" The guy in the pool grabbed at my ankle trying to drag me into the pool
"You bitch" she kicked him in the face and his nose started to bleed. Y/n got up and ran to kuina before he could get out
"Let's go now!" Y/n yelled to her and grabbed her hand. They started running down the hall to a familiar bedroom
They heard footsteps behind them and turned back to see the pool guy. Y/n started laughing because of adrenaline
Y/n and kuina ran faster to the door, barging through it they startled a blonde although he didn't show it. Y/n slammed the door shut behind them and locked the door
Perks of being an executive, you get a lock on the door. Y/n leaned her back on the door and took a breath of relief
They heard the door rattling and banging on the door. Y/n winced and moved her back off of it
"I SAW YOU GO IN THERE! COME OUT HERE AND FACE ME BITCH!" The man yelled. Y/n tried to stifle a laugh and wouldn't dare look at kuina or he'd get more angry. Chishiya sighed and walked to the door. He unlocked and opened the door
"What do you want?" He asked with amusement
"She's in there isn't she! Let me see her! I'll kill that bitch!" The man shouted. His nose bloody and a vein about to pop out
"You won't lay a finger on her." Chishiya stated in his usual tone
"You wanna bet" the man moved closer to chishiya, I'd say the man is a few inches taller
"Oh I do. I'm an executive, I have rank here. One word to hatter and youll be executed so think carefully, I know that might be hard for you" chishiya smirked triumphantly. The man got wide-eyed and hesitated before turning away and walking off
Chishiya stepped back into the room and it was silent until he asked
"What did you two do this time?" He asked looking on them for injuries
"It wasn't my fault. Kuina asked me to tell him she liked him and when I did he acted like a creep towards me so I pushed him out of reflex" y/n looked around avoiding the next part of the story
"And? I doubt he got a broken nose from a push" chishiya stated sitting on his bed while y/n was standing in front of him like a kid in trouble. Kuina basically hid, sitting in a corner
"Well he fell in the pool and I started laughing until he grabbed my ankle and tried pulling me in. I kicked him AGAIN out of reflex and he got mad so we ran here" y/n looked anywhere but at chishiya, he was very intimidating
"Hit him harder next time" when he said that both y/n and kuina's heads whipped up at him so fast. Y/n started grinning
"Will do!" Y/n smiled and walked towards the door
"Well I'm gonna go have a date with lady luck and hope I don't run into another creep" y/n left the room waving to both of them
Kuina was still in shock
"If it was because of me I would've been dead right now" kuina said offended. Chishiya just smirked
"Y/n only did this because of you" he stated returning back to the book he had before the two barged in
"Wait a minute..." kuina said moving closer to him. He looked up curiously
"You like her don't you?" Kuina grinned
"No I don't" he returned his eyes to the book buy couldn't read a word of it
"Yes you do! Otherwise she would be dead by now" kuina said excitedly. Chishiya looked up at her again, his face almost showing annoyance
"You're annoying, people tell you that a lot don't they" he smirked at her offended look
"You're just mad I figured it out. Now let's go before any other creeps hit on her" she grabbed his hand and dragged him to the lobby
They sat to where you couldn't see them but they could see you. So far no one too creepy popped up, they know you can handle yourself
"Y'know I think if you told her she would figure out she has feelings for you" kuina said still prodding the situation. Chishiya stayed quiet tuning kuina out and just looking at you
He was ok until he saw Niragi. Niragi entered the room and immediately looked to you. You turned and as you saw him your face dropped into a frown
Kuina looked to chishiya and he gave her a quick glance. The two telepathically communicated and started walking to you. Once they got to you kuina walked in front of Niragi and Chishiya hugged y/n from behind putting his head on her shoulder
"What are you doing?" Kuina asked with sharp eyes. Niragi snarled and pointed his gun to her head. Y/n's heart stopped and her breath got caught in her throat. She turned to chishiya who was very close
"Chishiya what are you two doing?" She whispered, her voice filled with fear
"Just relax, we have a plan. Whatever we say just go along with ok?" He said in a soft voice. Y/n nodded her head and turned forward
Kuina had her hands raised and backed away to the side. Niragi turned to y/n and Chishiya. He looked displeased
"What are you doing with my girl?" Niragi asked pointing his gun at Chishiya. Chishiya just smirked
"I think you mean my girl, isn't that right?" He turned and look at y/n. Y/n nodded.
"When was this?" Niragi Commented more than asked
"We made it official last night" Chishiya stared dead into Niragi's eyes implying what he meant. Niragi was even more furious
"I bet you're making it all up huh?" Niragi laughed
"No" y/n spoke out. Niragi froze and turned to her, leaning in close. She grabbed onto Chishiya's arm for comfort
"Prove it then. Kiss him" he nodded his head to chishiya. Y/n turned around in chishiya's arms
Y/n stared into his eyes while wrapping her hands around his neck. She leaned in close to where only he can hear her
"This isn't the first kiss idea I pictured. Sorry this isn't as romantic" she apologized before leaning in quick and capturing his lips
Chishiya was shocked for a second before kissing back. Chishiya was very gentle, he was savoring every moment. Y/n held a hand up to his cheek pushing him to her even more
They pulled apart and y/n couldn't help bit stare and adore him. She smiled and he stared admiring her features
They didn't even notice Niragi had left angry as can be. Kuina ran over squealing
"Yes! I've been waiting for this!!" She shouted
"Wait you knew he liked me?" I glared at her
"And you knew she liked me" chishiya stated less angry and more content. Kuina chuckled nervously and ran off
