Acronix: You’ll never get an ounce of info from me!!
Miranda: Not even for a turn on my Borg Pad?
Acronix: …how many apps are in it?
Miranda: How many do you want there to be? >:3

No Regrets
So.....how many of you have seen Marvel Agents of Shield? Spoilers for that ahead.
I’m not going to bother to explain to you all the complicated plot and backstory for why and how, but simple version, a computer simulation designed to be a paradise or whatever. The premise is that everybody gets ONE mistake or regret to be undone and then the computer uses probability to figure out the most probable way it could happen and what was happen different as a result.
Ex:
-Reality Daughter died at birth. Sim Daughter lived, but the wife died in childbirth.
-Reality person was forced to kill someone for the greater good and it traumatized them to do it. Simulation, they got through the mission without having to kill the person, but as a result that person went on and killed a lot more people.
-Reality Dad walked out on kid and mom. Sim Dad took the kid with him and raised him. (To be a huge jerk and kind of evil.)
So it’s not all good stuff. Not even stuff these people would CHOOSE as something to undo if given the choice. It’s whatever weights the heaviest on them, or did weight the most long term, they may have even recovered from it.
So naturally I wondered what would this premise be like if I put the ninja through it.
Jay, was never raised in a junkyard and never had his lonely childhood. Easiest way to get this done is he was never adopted and was instead raised by Cliff Gordon (Also, for the sake of plot and making distinctions, Jay’s full name is Jason in this fic. Ed and Edna shortened it. Other him goes by Jason except with very close friends and family.)
Cole was never a disappointment. He was the prodigy dancer his dad always wanted. (In this fic Cole was actually bad at dancing and didn’t just hate doing it, I know that goes against some headcannons, but deal with it for the sake of the story)
Nya and Kai didn’t grow up alone and fending for themselves. Easiest way this is done, is Krux decides to keep them around and raise them as their “Uncle Sander” in case he has to make good on his threat to hurt them, not to mention having the new masters of water and fire loyal to you is something he wouldn’t mind.
Lloyd was never left at Darkley’s. Most likely outcome is that his mom took him with on her travels and research.
Zane’s dad never died. He recovered from his illness and didn’t touch Zane’s memory switch. Zane had no reason to leave home.
Story is our ninja waking up to these upside-down “other lives”, trying to piece together where the others are and what happened while also trying to play these roles.
One problem though, their “other selves” are taking over.
It’s not obvious at first, mostly just knowing things that they shouldn’t and blurting out things on instinct that are appropriate for the situation. But it ramps up the longer they go. They start “forgetting” that they’re ninja and that this isn’t their real lives. The longer it goes on, the more often and longer they go “forgetting” and it scares the crud out of them and causes some nice angst cause their other selves aren’t the best versions of themselves.
But this post is long enough. Point being, I’m pretty sure Clouse did it, but why?
(If you guys care, I will explain the ninja’s alt lives and selves in more detail)
