hi hi hi!! so this is my first ever self-ship post!! i wanted to try it out and i love it so far! so here’s a collection of headcanons for my self-ship with Atsumu :) idk if i’m doing this right, but if anyone actually likes and/or reads this i will literally love you forever

How did we meet?

I went to high school with the Miya twins, but I didn’t meet Atsumu until the beginning of 3rd year

I met Osamu my second year, and we hit it off right away! We both love to cook, so we had that in common

I would occasionally share recipes with Osamu and we would send each other pictures of whatever food we were making that day/week

Eventually, Osamu invited me over to try out a recipe together, and that’s when I actually met Atsumu

(Of course, I knew that Osamu had a brother, he had mentioned him before and I had gone to most of the home volleyball games

So I had seen both of them play together, I just never had the chance to actually talk to him!)

Atsumu wanted to hang around the kitchen so he could be our official “taste-tester”

Osamu was not amused

but I said I didn’t mind if he was there, so Osamu let him stay (albeit a bit reluctantly)

I tried to stay focused on what we were cooking

(I’m not too good at multitasking, so I knew if I tried to carry a conversation with Atsumu, I would inevitably ruin what I was making)

once the food was done though, we all sat down and tried it (it was great, of course)

Atsumu had to initiate the conversation in the end because I was just so shy

But since he’s really outgoing, it wasn’t too difficult to talk to him!

My First Impression of Atsumu?

I think my first impression of him would come from seeing him play volleyball

so I would probably see him as a very competitive person

maybe a bit snarky or rude, but I wouldn’t want to make any real assumptions about him until I met him myself

(i was definitely a little intimidated the first time i met him, but it was better bc Osamu was there with me)

I probably heard a bit about him from Osamu, but I know how siblings talk about each other so I would take it with a grain of salt lol

I mean, I get annoyed with my sister all the time but I still love her and think she’s a good person

Overall I think I would see him as a very outgoing and competitive person!

Atsumu’s First Impression of Me?

He might have heard Osamu mention me once or twice, or seen me talk to him, but he never really thought about introducing himself to me

He probably assumed I was similar in personality to Osamu

He would know I like to cook/bake, he noticed Osamu taking pictures of his food and sending it to someone

He got curious and asked about it

Once he finally met me, his first impression was mainly that I was shy, but also very focused/determined

he appreciated my drive to succeed in my classes, since he’s that way with volleyball

overall his impression was shy but sweet!

hi gab!!!💖 you’re definitely not too late! honestly self ship sunday is pretty flexible lmao (also i literally love you thank you for giving me an excuse to talk about how much i love atsumu sksjsks)

Since Atsumu’s b-day is today, i’ll talk about how we celebrate birthdays!! (Just a heads up: there will be mild time-skip spoilers? Kinda?)

Atsumu’s Birthday

I like to make him breakfast on his birthday! Especially if it’s on a weekend!

If his birthday is on a weekday and I can’t make him breakfast, I’ll be sure to prepare a morning snack for him the night before (He usually has to leave pretty early for practice)

I always make him a birthday cake as well, making food for people is just one way I show my love for them!!

I’ll take him out with some of his friends/teammates to go get dinner and drinks (though I am the designated driver!)

Also, he absolutely LIVES for people singing happy birthday to him!!! it truly baffles me how he doesn’t feel awkward, but like, you do you babe sksjsks

I see Atsumu as someone who enjoys receiving gifts, but I am supremely bad at buying things for people sksjsks

I asked Hinata for help buying a gift one time, and Hinata told me to just ask Atsumu what he wanted, so I did! and it worked out great!! ‘Tsumu is super understanding and is just grateful that I’m trying my best (i love him)

Plus I think Atsumu is secretly grateful that he won’t have to pretend to like a gift he doesn’t want LMAO (which is totally valid haha)

Birthday cuddles with Atsumu!!!! So many cuddles!!!!

I love this man so much, pls let me celebrate with him 🥺

My Birthday

Atsumu and I always make each other really shitty looking birthday cards, just as a fun tradition LMAO

He tried to plan a surprise party for me once, but he made the mistake of telling Bokuto... yeah I definitely found out

I still acted surprised though, I just didn’t have the heart to tell him I already knew sksjsk

He knows I love spending my birthday with close friends, so he would probably invite a few people over to just eat food, talk, and generally celebrate!

He probably gets Osamu to bring onigiri to the party LMAO (he agrees, but only because we’re good friends)

Early on in our relationship, he tried to buy me bigger gifts for my birthday, but he quickly realized that gift giving isn’t my love language. So he switched to getting me little things, putting more focus on just spending time with me :)

This man is just so considerate of what I will enjoy, he really wants to make it the best day for me🥰

Bonus:

Our go-to date is definitely movie night! We’re both pretty busy people, so we love just getting to relax and cuddle with each other!

He asked me out at his house! It was probably like the second time I was at the Miya’s house to make food with Osamu. Atsumu and I had talked some before that, and he asked Osamu about me, so he decided to ask me out on a date! ‘Samu had to push me to accept, mostly because I was so stunned LMAO (I get flustered really easily so I was just staring at him, blushing so hard) I did say yes tho!!!

SKSJSKS OK LET’S DO THIS🤩 (i did first date bc i had the most ideas for that)

☆彡 after our initial meeting, atsumu asked me out on a date and i said yes (with a little push from osamu, bc i was in shock)

☆彡 ok so after that, ‘samu mentioned to atsumu that i had never been in a relationship before (which is fine bc i don’t try to hide that lmao)

☆彡 tsumu was determined to take me on “the best date of [my] whole life”

☆彡 he got osamu to help him plan it, since osamu knew me before i knew tsumu

☆彡 i really like low-pressure dates, so i think atsumu would take me out to the aquarium!

☆彡 we would walk around and i would be so excited—i absolutely LOVE aquariums! i would be reading everything sksjsks

☆彡 he would have to pull me along at times bc i get so into learning about the exhibits,, whoops

☆彡 but i definitely pay a lot of attention to atsumu too! i point things out to him, ask him what his favorite animal there is, and just try my best to get to know him better!

☆彡 after that we go and get some food, and he pays for it (even though i told him i could pay, since he bought the aquarium tickets)

☆彡 we have a really nice time, just chatting and getting to know each other!

☆彡 and it’s definitely the best date ever (which makes atsumu very happy)

☆彡 i’m generally not a very confident person, so i think atsumu would help me with that!!

☆彡 he’s obviously very sure of himself, and he would want to help me feel more secure in my pursuits

☆彡 in the same way, i help tsumu to become more patient and understanding with others

☆彡 i believe that his snarkiness and insistence come from a good place (he feels that they can do the thing, so he expects them to just... do it!)

☆彡 so i help him realize that there are other ways of supporting people that may be more effective and give him the outcome he wants (and make others happier!!)

☆彡 i bake a lot, and he is always there to try whatever it is i made!!

☆彡 sometimes he teases osamu, saying that my food tastes better than his (i always get flustered and deny it)

☆彡 i think atsumu likes to do my hair!! especially braiding it!! i asked for help braiding once and he hated that he didn’t know how to do it, so he became determined to be the best hair stylist i could ask for LMAO
