She is based in New York and her paintings are figurative, contemporary and arresting. She has won numerous awards, including the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (3 times!), and an exceptional merit award from the American portrait society. She has been in numerous solo and group shows and her work is held in over 500 collections around the world. She is very down to earth with plenty of practical tips and has a great laugh. Here are some highlights from my figure painting workshop! The next class will be at the @nyacademyofart @nyaa_continuing_studies Dec. 7th and 8th! It’s a weekend intensive and there are still a few spaces left! Learn to construct solid and anatomically correct figure paintings in oils. This two-day figure painting workshop is a unique opportunity for students of all levels to learn the process of painting the nude figure from a live model. Through lectures, demonstrations and individual instruction this course will cover the anatomical, structural and surface forms of the head and figure. Participant will be taken through a range of short and long poses to explore the gesture as well as the creation of highly finished paintings. There will be an emphasis on proportion, tone, structure and light on form. The beginner will learn fundamental principles such as how to mix colors and render form modeling. The more advanced student will discover how to take their work to the next level and achieve the finish that they desire. Managed to get the color lay in done on my #Rubens copy at the @metmuseum today! I took lots of progress shots so swipe to see the process.
