Kristin Lucas’ “Refresh”.

I’d like to start off by saying that I very much enjoyed Kristen Lucas’ “Refresh” story. If we allow ourselves to be exposed to a different dimension, art expression can take human Beings out of their every-day mundane thoughts/activities, and stimulate their minds to a different level (s).

From a legal point of view, perhaps her action or request did not make sense, however, given that Kristin Sue Lucas motioned, or put forth an order to have her legal name changed to exactly what it was before…and that she simply just wanted to “Refresh,” herself like a webpage, these are my two questions:

1) Before the legal name change went through by the Judge, was there ever a moment Kristin, where you thought your request was unorthodox, because technically you weren’t really performing an actual change? After having read the story, you motioned the Judge to change your name to exactly what it was- so technically, there was no change. From a philosophical, or even physiological stand point, your objective possibly, was to hopefully feel a sense of possible renewal within yourself.

2) After the Judge honored your name change request, even though it wasn’t a change, did you feel a new sense of self, or renewal? Did you feel a brand new version of yourself immediately, or did it take some time?

3) Were you happy with your decision?

4) Do you feel in your heart, like proceeding with this legal motion was the right thing to do? Do you feel like Human Beings need to “Refresh” their sense of self as many times as a webpage on a website does?

5) What other activities do you think people could do, to re-adjust/change their sense of self? Do you think this could help with depression, suicide, drug over-dose or other mental illnesses?
