Kirishima would be ever so grateful to have a friend like Bakugo Katsuki in his life. If he ever had children, they would learn to be as Bakugo had convinced him that it was very manly to ask the cute girl of general department 1-C to go out with him after weeks of talking about it to no avail. Kirishima made it his mission to make sure that you and everyone who knew the two of you were soulmates or the closest thing of it.
His primary way of showing his interest was during study dates. Which were practically the only dates you two had because he was in the hero course, and he has apprentice-ships and all that stuff. When he had time, however, he was taking you on dates. Also, because he needed to study, those were perfect for both of you. So study dates were your thing just like week-ends dates were movie nights with one of your family. He did try his best to see you three days a week.
During all of your dates throughout the month, four were study dates. The first one always happened at that cute animal petting coffee shop where your older sister worked. That was your idea at first. Your sister was pestering you to meet the boy you went out with... And because the food was paid with her discount.
If Kirishima was intimidated then, he didn't show any of it. Even if you could see the glare, your sister was giving to him in his back.
"Wow, that place is awesome!" He'd exclaimed when you sat at one of the tables for the first time. You just smiled and waved toward one of the waitresses.
The said waitress walked toward you with bouncy steps, and you presented her as your sister. Now, each time you went, the woman was looking at you like a vulture. Most of the time, a cat or small dog near you and pastries were served to you as you worked on your homework.
"Eiji-kun, that's not the right answer..." you whispered to him as you took a sip of your drink.
"Wha- how come?" His face went straight to the paper, scanning his document for errors in his calculus. Giggles escaped your lips. You watched him redo the problem you showed him to be wrong; his tongue stuck in between his teeth. He liked it when he could make you laugh.
For a sweet time, Kirishima liked going to your sister's coffee shop.
The second study date of the month usually occurred at the food court, where Mina and Denki worked. It was busy and loud and not very private, but it was joyous and different from the coffee shop. It was like going from your world to his.
Both of you would choose a table near the Starbuck where Denki and Mina were employed, drink, and eat doing homework and talking until they finished. There were always people, and it wasn't as calm as your sister's coffee shop, but at first, Kirishima brought you there for you to meet his two friends.
You usually couldn't concentrate well in the court food, so you often ended up doing English homework or something that didn't need as much attention as math or science did. Kirishima was too was doing the English homework. However, his inspiration wasn't coming as quickly as yours at the moment.
"What's your arguments for the Pride and Prejudice assignment?"
"Oh, I choose the evident feminists take that the author wrote Elizabeth under, contrasting with the over-exaggerated way the other characters were written. You?" You didn't raise your head from the said assignment, and Kirishima felt himself blush.
For a second, he couldn't answer, and all he found when he finally managed to was, "yeah, of course..." The school was not that difficult for him, but at the same time, he had so much to do already, that even the simplest tasks were making you amazing in his eyes. You did not have to work as a hero. You'd study, do your thing, and that was alright.
You were you, and that was perfect for him.
"Heya, lovebirds!" exclaimed Mina sitting down next to you. Denki took the free space next to Kirishima. The girl took your essay, reading it fast before groaning. "How can you write so much, it's only one hour since you arrived here!"
You just shrugged, smiling.
The third study date was always at your house. Kirishima loved it when your study dates were at your home. The food was hot and full of love, your family was lively, and what he liked the most: it was free.
Sure, he needed to watch how he talked, because your father was watching his every move and analyzed his every word. And he wanted to prove him he wasn't just some stupid teenager with an unattainable dream and loose screws in his head. He could be a man worth your father's daughter.
He liked it because it was different from his house, where his parents -who loved you, let's be honest, were more to let you two do your things. It was easier to do homework, and the warmth of love that was filling your house was reassuring, especially after too much training or a particular rude apprenticeship day.
"Thank you for the meal, Mrs. (Y/L/N)."
Your mom is always quick to tell your father to leave the two of you alone. The house may be small, but they try to give you as much space as possible.
The fourth study date of the month was on the roof... That was He told Kirishima about the fake smiles you wore before the gang, like you wanted to be somewhere else but didn't say anything about it. Bakugo would know about that, he was a bit blunt, but he knew how people felt, he was more observant than the rest.
Since then, it was like a ritual, once a month, more if you could, you would meet up on the roof to study, and maybe he would take you by surprise and kiss you, more than once. That was his favourite date.
