Krillin and Yamcha deserve a better fandom. Krillin is such a hero. He's not crazy strong like Goku and Gohan, but is still willing to fight. No matter what he endures, he gets back up. He protects his loved ones despite his low odds like a true man. He's like the Ron Weasley of Dragonball (but unlike Ron, he has a good wife and a best friend who appreciates him).
Never ceases to amaze me how Krillin had to flee his home in tears over the sheer amount of abuse and bullying he endured, had to deal with everyone looking down on him his whole childhood, had to deal with traumas we can’t imagine, had to fight to overcome PTSD and depression, was STILL willing to lay down his life for the same people who would mock and belittle him… …and yet HE’S the fandom punching bag. HE’S the one the fandom holds in the same kind of mocking contempt as his abusers.
Tumblr media
It’s freakin’ nuts. Any other series a character like this would be a fandom darling, or at least appreciated. Why is it this one’s more content to side with his abusers than so much as acknowledge him?

DBZ Thoughts: Gohan saving Videl from Spopovich is not as romantic as it seems
So I made this post a while back comparing the Videl v Spopovich fight with the Vegeta v Frieza fight. In the blog, I indicated along the lines that Videl's fight marked the end of her status as a fighter. After this fight, Videl was reduced to a love interest and any development her character could have had as a next-gen human fighter was dropped.
I would argue that Gohan's attempted intervention in the Videl v Spopovich fight put the nail in the coffin for respecting Videl as a fighter.
Why do I say this? Let's establish the facts:
Videl up till this point is a very capable and proud fighter, IMO more than her dad Mr Satan. She uses her skills to help people and she shows curiosity for new techniques as demonstrated by her desire to learn to fly. Sure, Gohan has saved her as the Great Saiyaman but she has so much courage to risk her life every day.
Videl is such a proud fighter that she CHOSE to remain in the fight. Remember this is a tournament fight with rules and exits. With two words, Videl can walk away from this fight without any consequences besides maybe a bruised ego. However, even when her head is being squashed, she refuses to concede. I think it's Vegeta's level of stupidity, but I respect her for it.
So what is the impact of Gohan trying to save Videl?
If Gohan interrupted the fight before Yamu, he would have been disqualified from the tournament. Videl wanted Gohan to be in the tournament so I don't think Pre-fight Videl would have appreciated Gohan being disqualified.
Gohan is basically disrespecting Videl as a fighter. By intervening, Gohan is unintentionally demonstrating his need to save Videl from her own decisions. Videl is too dumb to save herself due to her pride so Gohan has to step in as her knight in shining armor. Remember, Videl does not need saving! This is not a life-or-death battle like with the Frieza forces, just a very violent tournament match. That Videl can walk away from HERSELF.
Tumblr media
The audience is being told that Videl can no longer depend on her own skills and needs to rely on the big (Saiyan) boys to protect her. Videl does not get a chance to swear vengeance against Spopovich or to use that moment to motivate herself to become better. Instead, what we have is Gohan stepping in and swearing vengeance on Videl's behalf and Videl asking Gohan to get back at Spopovich for her. Nothing is wrong with a male loved one protecting you and I find it sweet of Gohan. But this just further robs Videl of whatever agency she had left as a promising female fighter.
Gohan is unfortunately the worst thing to happen to Videl's character as a fighter.

Dragon Ball GT Shadow Dragon arc would've been so much cooler if each fighter got a chance to fight their own dragon. Like the fighters all split into groups of 2-3 and go off to find and fight a Shadow Dragon and retrieve the dragon balls. Especially if they fight a dragon that is tied to them in some way.
Goku goes with Pan and they fight Rage Shenron, who's tied to the wish to revive Goku after his fight with Raditz.
Vegeta, along with Bulma who tags along cause its Bulma, fight Naturon Shenron who is tied to the wish of reviving all the people Majin Vegeta killed. It would've been a good character moment for Vegeta to reflect on his past and even Bulma to an extent since I believe she was the one who made the wish. This confrontation also would've been a better build up to Vegeta unlocking SSJ4, maybe Naturon captures Bulma and Vegeta transforms for the first time in order to save his wife.
Gohan and even Videl can join him (cause she deserves more chances to kick ass instead of being benched to the sidelines) and they fight Nuova Shenron who is the four star dragon which is an important heirloom in Gohan's family but also the wish Nuova is tied to is King Piccolo's wish for youth, tying into Gohan's friendship with Piccolo.
Uub could fight Eis Shenron because he's tied into the wish to have everyone forget about Majin Buu and his evil deeds. He just deserved more screen time after all that build up for his character.
Maybe Trunks and Goten fight Haze Shenron, tied to the wish to revive Bora, a call back to the very first series and parallel to the adventures Trunks' mom and Goten's dad were on together back in the early days of dragon ball.
And for fun, Oceanus Shenron targets Oolang because she's the underwear wish that he made and maybe it's Yamcha and Roshi who have to fight her. Maybe also Krillin and Android 18 get involved (I know Krillin is dead by that point but with some rewriting he could just be there to help out). Plus she's an ocean themed dragon, the fight can take place on Roshi's island that is literally surrounded by the ocean!!
And then by the end, everyone comes together to take on Omega Shenron, the finale dragon.

Preach! Krillin was the ultimate wingman! He was always outclassed by he always had Gohan and Goku's back. He and Gohan were such a power duo on Namek - it made it easy to forget poor Gohan was a baby.
As for Vegeta...he's one of my favourite characters but I hate how BulmaxVegeta did Yamcha dirty. I keep seeing YouTube comments where people mock Yamcha for being a loser...when Vegeta is one of the biggest Dragonball deadbeats!!! At least Goku fished and got wood (and became a radish farmer). And Yamcha had a lucrative career. Vegeta was basically a leech, living at Capsule Corp like a pampered homeless vagabound and people have the nerve to call Yamcha a loser!!! Get real. If it weren't for Future Trunks, I would have probably lost interest in Vegeta long ago.
Yamcha is such a good guy. Even after Bulma dumped him for Vegeta - the guy responsible for his murder, he is still so supportive of her in the Buu saga. The man deserved better. At least Krillin had his happy ending. Although I was not impressed by Krillin's attraction to 18 in the cell saga. The dude put the world in danger because of one lousy cheek peck. At least his simping resulted in him getting the family he deserved.
Tumblr media
I’ve occasionally referenced my belief that Krillin is essentially the “Spider-Man” of Dragon Ball many times, so I figured I’d just toss this up for memory’s sake. Was about ten or so years ago when I was re-reading a Spider-Man comic (Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 #67 to be precise) and I came across this quote from Mr. Parker and… the reflection was uncanny. So I tossed this together both out of realization and out of boredom. But as it’s Meta, it fits, and it’s near the anniversary of when I created it, so I figured I’d share again. (Cheesy? Perhaps. But fun! Feel free to DM me insults about it. lol)

If you were to insert Ranma Saotome into any Tenkaichi Budokai from Dragonball, which would be the most entertaining one to do so in.
Why would you do that to me? XD
A new one, I think. As a martial artist, Ranma deserves better than to just try and slot in as one of the filler matches of someone else's arc.
I honestly think it'd be really interesting to see him and a young Goku go at it. Ranma and his supporting cast - especially his most direct rival Ryoga - have very interesting styles with a lot of creative and clever techniques that it'd be really interesting to see Counter-Fighter Goku have to dissect.
It'd be pretty cool to do a tournament arc with a young Goku, Krillin, Yamcha, and Ten against Ranma, Ryoga, and two others from his series. Shampoo and Ukyo, maybe? I dunno. With the final match being Goku vs. Ranma, of course.
Worth noting that Ranma himself is a creative and analytical counter-fighter too. He's just a bit slower than Goku. Where Goku can typically break down his opponent's style and techniques mid-fight, Ranma has a formula to him. In a typical Ranma 1/2 plot, he straight-up loses the first fight to whatever weird and esoteric ability his foe has, but then figures it out and comes back to strike a victory on rematch.
Ranma's as clever as Goku; He just takes a bit longer to get there.
I'd love to see what Goku makes of Ranma's signature Hiryu Shoten Ha in particular; A formidable and powerful technique practically designed to score ringouts, but based on principles that can be understood and manipulated by an attentive enough opponent.
(Also, in general, I think Ranma would appreciate getting to fight someone who sincerely does not care whether his body is male or female and whose behavior will not change either way when a shift inevitably occurs mid-fight by some comical shenanigans.)

Everyone likes to talk and moan about how the Earthling cast not named Krillin got the short end of the stick in Z and after. But its usually just concerning Yamcha and Tenshinhan.
And while I agree that they both deserved better, I was still happy that Yamcha hung around even if he didn't say or do much in the Boo arc.
You know who really got shafted in this franchise? Chaozu.
This guy got shafted the second he lost his fight against Krillin in the 22nd tournament. He's killed mid-sentence by Piccolo Daimao. He's taken out off-screen by Tao Pai Pai and makes his return at the end of the 23rd tournament as a barely discernable dot in one of the last panels. He blows himself up and then is more or less gone for the rest of the series. There's no character to him beyond being "Tenshinhan's friend". The anime at least tries to give him something to do, like it did with Lunch in the Saiyan arc. But Chaozu is such a nothing character that he could've been replaced with a cat or dog something and the effect would still be the same.
Everyone dunks on Yamcha and Krillin when they should be dunking on Chaozu, if anyone. He has done NOTHING in the entire series and his one gimmick of fiddling with tournament matchup numbers is taken over by Boo in the end

Top 3 DB Characters?
Oooh, an ask! So exciting!
So, the top is obviously shared by Vegeta and Bulma. I can't choose and I would honestly let them fight it out to see who comes out on top.
While they do that, hopefully half naked and oiled up, I want to share my top 3 outside of Vegebul because it might be more interesting:
#1: Gohan. He's such an interesting character and I don't think he gets quite enough credit for everything he has gone through and the life he managed to carve out for himself against all odds.
He's a product of his parents' upbringing, along with Piccolo's, but he also has his own distinct personality. And I think he is the character who has the most interaction with all the other character. Yes, Goku is the main character and ties everyone together, but he never really hung out with Yamcha, Tien or Piccolo. Nor do we see him interact much with Vegeta outside their fighting and we don't know if they even saw each other during the 3 year gap.
But Gohan clearly has a (trauma) bond with Krillin, Bulma and Piccolo. Maybe he spent time with Yamcha and Tien too. The only other character I can think of who has as much interaction with the others is Bulma. But she's fighting it out with Vegeta above, so...
Gohan is a darling. We see him evolve from a timid child to an amazing young man who's been through so much and still gets the life he's always deserved.
#2: Krillin. This guy doesn't get enough credit, although I think the tide is turning for him among the fans. I don't have as much to say about him as I did with Gohan, but he's really a great character who stays kind and good (if we ignore his introduction in DB) and he doesn't give up, despite being utterly outclassed by nearly everyone. And I'm so happy he got a wonderful wife and a sweet child, a family he deserves.
#3: Future Trunks. I was really unsure if I should pick Goku, Piccolo or Future Trunks for this one because they're all awesome characters. But I'm a sucker for tragic characters and boy, does he fit the bill.
He has had a horrible life and, while the present day characters are mostly enjoying life, he is still living in that hellhole. Future Bulma is incredibly tragic too, especially because she's known better. But Future Trunks arrives in the present day, sees how good things are, how spoiled the z-fighters behave (yes, let's just see how strong these androids are and risk the planet for a good fight) and somehow he still manages to stay good.
He gets to see how things have turned out because of him, but he doesn't get to experience it. Sure, he could've chosen to stay in that timeline instead of returning to his own, but he isn't the type to abandon others. I wish that the characters had shown him much more gratitude and maybe send Dende with him to help out, but no. In the manga everyone dies except him, Mai and Future Zeno. Worse yet is the anime where the universe is just erased.
So yeah, Future Trunks is tragic and I love that. But I want much better things for him (and Future Bulma).
I wonder if Vegeta and Bulma are done fighting after this too long rant.
Thanks for the ask @hozonkai1!

7 Underrated Dragon Ball Characters
Honorable mention, Launch. She's one of my favorite Dragon Ball characters, but Toriyama never evolves Launch beyond her gag, and then he forgets all about her. Unlike most USians, I started with OG Dragon Ball, and enjoyed the found family dynamic that Goku developed after Grandpa Gohan (who ironically is his father figure) died. Roshi is like his grandpa, Bulma his big sister, Krillin his best bro, and Launch his mother. She cooks, cares for the boys, and handmakes them their cute little World Tournament suits. It seemed like she was going to be a major supporting character, but instead she circles the drain doing one of three things until she's just finally gone 1) getting molested by Roshi 2) shooting people impervious to bullets 3) crushing on Tien
Launch deserved better
Tumblr media
Android 16
Tumblr media
The only reason he's not higher on this list is because he's not as underrated as the others. Plenty of people like 16 ofc, he's a good character, but in universe he gets nothing but disrespect. Y'know the guy who saved the world by helping Gohan go beyond Super Saiyan? He's on the same tier as Farmer w/shotgun in terms of getting wished back to life. Yamcha would rather give his girlfriend a nice necklace
Super goes a step further in erasing his existence by giving his character traits to Park Ranger 17. And I'd say this was a nice homage to 16 if Super wasn't Super
World Tournament Announcer
Tumblr media
The Nameless Announcer. One of the few normies to know about Dragon Team, he's an in-universe Dragon Ball stan. He's also the first character in this entire franchise to go from mustache-less to mustache
Yajirobe
Tumblr media
Yajirobe's honestly so cool. He 1 shot Cymbal, then COOKED AND ATE HIM, which is probably the darkest thing to happen in Dragon Ball and actually makes Buu a Yajirobe clone. He was also the equivalent to Tien and Goku on release, being as strong as they were during the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament.
Except, unlike Tien and Goku, he's a total slacker and was probably this strong naturally, or at least very close. For context, 21st World Tournament Goku was equivalent to Roshi, who could blow up the moon with ease
Oh and he was instrumental in defeating Geets, that's cute of him too
Dr. Gero
Tumblr media
One of my fav villains, this fucker here, he fucks. He created best girl (18) best twink (17, sorry not sorry Future Trunks), two very good boys (8er and 16), the most perfect it/its, 19, who had one of Dragon Ball's best beatdowns, and was plenty compelling and terrifying on his own. How is this absolute fucker not in every Top 10 or at least every Top 20 villain countdowns?
Kami
Tumblr media
Surely God will be important?
Yamcha
Tumblr media
The world's first meme. He gets twisted as useless by people who think Dragon Ball was ever about anyone but Goku doing anything and dunked on for almost everything he does. Yamcha isn't the kinda guy getting mad about this hate tho, he's actually laughing. He's an easygoing himbo that just wants to chill and exposit, but will absolutely throw down whenever needed.
The most pathetic he EVER got was when he made his hair look like Vegeta's, and you really can't blame a bro for trying
Chi-Chi
Tumblr media
The hate this woman gets... it's definitely less than it used to be, but for someone Goku and Gohan very clearly loves, the fanbase despises her. And why? For not wanting her FOUR YEAR OLD to fight planet busting monsters? Yes, I know, the world needs that four year old to fight monsters, but if that were your kid, would you be ok with that? Would you say bye son I love you and remember to hold your intestines in if the alien demon from another world blasts open your stomach?

I know we r in our yajirobe™ era rn but can we talk about ms chichi ? had an epiphany about her 30 minutes ago thougt id share
shes kinda like marge simpson to me if marge didnt take no prisoners (ever)(will not elaborate). like i remember when she let goku take gohan one time (1) to go see his friends and then her husband DIED and she didn't see her son for like 9 months. and then the next 10 or so years hes just put in perilous situations all the time, none of which she can prevent or protect him from. absolutely insane. I would have gone absolutely insane. The throes of despair id be in.. The feeling of overwhelming helplessness... woman is stronger than any us marine.
LIKE I kinda GET WHY SHE GETS FUSSY AND HAS HANGUPS ABOUT CERTIAN THINGS NOW..... like warnjng goten abt city woman or drilling gohan about his education... DELINQUENTS.... etc etc.. just SOMETHING she could do to protect them even a little bit!! even a little bit!!! working within her limitations yanno
obviously I think if she had like a normal life with a normal spouse and kids she probably wouldn't be this uptight or high-strung (or would she???). But since that's not what she'll ever have, maybe it drives her off the edge a little. That a life where her family is both safe and alive may not be possible after all. I guess its not a surprise that her emotions can often manifest in violent ways. wounded heart :-(
in summary i think chichi should be allowed to smooch any one she wants (mr piccolo) maybe get an all expense paid for trip to iceland or something SHE DESERVES IT!!
fin :-)
MAKES SENSE.
She's crazy because her life has been crazy. Totally understandable!
Most pertinent line: "That a life where her family is both safe and alive may not be possible after all. I guess its not a surprise that her emotions can often manifest in violent ways. wounded heart :-("
Also: "The feeling of overwhelming helplessness... woman is stronger than any us marine."
Feelings of helplessness are something that is so absolutely soul-crushing ... We see several characters speak of it, but in the end they are all able to mobilize in some way to deal with it (Krillin was overwhelmed how everyone was dying when Vegeta showed up; he later went to Namek about it, although he never recovered his shattered sense of competence.) (Everybody was feeling helpless during the Cell shit, and I'm specificlaly thinking about when Tenshinhan decided that dying in battle was better than doing nothing, and he went to face Cell and was able to stave him off for a bit using his Kikoho technique) (....Also thinking about how in the original dragon ball, he was forced immobile by some sort of drug Roshi gave him so that he couldn't risk his life interfering when Roshi faced off with Piccolo Daimao.. and how. Absolutely horrifying. That must have been for him. To not be able to move when all of him was needing to. And how he immediately became committed to Doing Something About Piccolo Daimao as soon as he could mobilize.)
I've definitely been on record as saying that Chichi acts the way she does largely because of how helpless she feels. She is subjected to the same helplessness as everyone else, only she never has any hope of doing anything about it. She just has to yell louder and hope that someone will listen this time.
Interesting stuff. Thank you for your empathy and compassion. It makes life meaningful.
See you next time and everpony stay safe

ngl, it's bullshit that they made goku's mom a cute little housewife who just doesn't have the constitution for fighting. you're telling me the woman from a warrior race literally created by a god of destruction, one married to a powerful warrior who regularly wiped out whole planets with just him and a few of his buddies, the woman who gave birth to the child that would grow into the greatest fighter the universe ever saw, the warrior who avenged not only their whole race but every race that frieza ever slaughtered, and she's just not that much of a fighter??? i feel like bardock would've married a warrior woman who, even if not as strong as him, could at least hold her goddamn own. goku did!! chi-chi was a goddamn warrior too, not nearly as strong as goku but literally nobody was. honestly like, this is a side note but i would've had chi-chi keep up with the other members of the gang. she could've at least overcome yamcha, y'know. like i've had this idea in my head for a bit where there's an alternate take on dragon ball where she fights alongside everyone during at least the saiyan saga, like cmon. honestly i think she should be at least on par with krillin, if not slightly better. she deserves it, the world's strongest man deserves the worlds strongest woman y'know. which, now that i think about it if we're going by humans and not saiyans krillin would definitely be the world's strongest man, and since he's married to android 18 he'd be married to the world's strongest woman. so eh. yeah ok i'm rambling at this point, goobye!!

Well well well..... who do we have here?
Hi guys, long time no see!
I was digging around in my pretty much abandoned PC just now, and I came across some writing which I thought deserved to see the light of day.
Its the prologue to my one-day-hope-to-finish Future Trunks Timeline K/18 love story called ‘Behind Enemy Lines’. It really is a very good story but I would never publish it as is because there is no promise I can ever finish it, because my life is bonkers.
But this is the short prologue, in it Goku is dying of the heart virus. It is completly unedited, I just found it in a folder like this, but I think it’s a pretty nice piece of writing.
Anyway, here it is, enjoy!
----------------
For a moment, it was as if the entire world had ceased to exist. All that there was, was her, and blackness. Clocks didn’t tick because there was no time, no way to tell if a second had passed or an eon. Was this shock? She wasn’t sure, but whatever it was, it was sucking the life out of her. She felt lightheaded; her mind was separating itself from her body, as if it had decided that it didn’t want to be a part of this reality anymore, and it was going to go somewhere new, some place far away. Someplace better.
‘Good’ she thought, encouraging the process, ‘get me the hell out of here.’
She smiled as she felt the blackness close in around her, and she too, ceased to exist for a moment.
“Chichi!” Krillin leapt to action as he watched his friends legs give out on her. The whole thing seemed to happen in slow motion as he lunged forward to catch her before the floor did. Gently, he laid her down as the professionals in the room stepped in and calmly went about the business of bringing her back.
Taking a step back, Krillin wrapped an arm around the shoulders of a thoroughly overwhelmed Gohan and gave him what he could only hope was a reassuring squeeze. The two watched silently as the scene unfolded before them.
“It’s a funny thing, shock,” the doctor said, with a smile of all things, as he pressed a cold compress to Chichi’s forehead, “everyone always reacts a little bit differently. There’s no predicting it.”
“Hmpf.” Sinking back down into his chair, Krillin rubbed at his red, tired eyes. It had been weeks since he had last slept for more than a few hours without interruption. Groggily, he watched as Chichi slowly woke up and was helped back into the chair between his own and Gohan’s.
Together, they turned their gaze to the fourth member of their group, who had remained as still as a statue throughout the whole commotion. None of them knew what to say or do next, this was foreign territory, something that until recently had been assumed to be a total impossibility.
“Are you sure?” Chichi asked meekly, as her thoughts started to return, “Is there anything left to try? Anything at all?”
Krillin, already anticipating the response, reached over and took his friends hand in his, squeezing it for reassurance, though whether it was for her or himself, he wasn’t sure.
“I’m sorry, Mrs Son,” the doctor said grimly, “There is nothing more we can do.”
“What about transplant?” Krillins voice cracked as he tried desperately not to let go of his last shred of hope. “The virus is in his heart right? Can’t you just…” he paused. They’d discussed this, he already knew the answer, “give him a new heart?”
Beside him, Chichi began to sob. Her strength throughout this whole ordeal had been monumental, but even she had her limits. The doctor passed her a box of tissues and she took a moment to compose herself, dabbing the tears away from her eyes. Now was not the time to be weak. Her son was going to need her more than ever over the coming days and weeks, and she would be strong for him.
“What happens now?” she asked, bravely.
Before he replied, the doctor took a moment to look over his notes, this part of his job never got any easier. “We’ll make him comfortable,” he began, “like we discussed, the virus has started to eat away at the pericardial tissue; that is, the sack that surround his heart. The more it erodes, the more his heart is going to struggle to beat, until it stops. We’ll do everything we can to make it as painless as possible for him. I’m so sorry Mrs Son, I’m so sorry we couldn’t do more for your husband.”
“How long has he got?”
The doctor sighed. “A day, two at most.”
---
Bulma anxiously played with her wedding ring, twisting and twirling it around her finger. It was a nervous habit, one she had tried more than once to break after she had noticed diamonds missing from the band, but now was not the time for that. She let herself spin the ring endlessly as she watched the seconds tick by on her watch
How could this be? How could Goku, of all people, be brought down by a stupid virus? At first she had refused to believe it, it wasn’t possible, not Goku. He was a Super Saiyan, had defeated Frieza singlehandedly, he was the very definition of the word hero. This wasn’t a hero’s fate.
Beside her, on the small, hard couch, Trunks, her precious only son had finally drifted off to sleep. Pushing herself up out of the awkward, half slumped over position she had slid into, Bulma stood up and stretched all the cricks out of her body. Master Roshi and Oolong slept huddled up in the corner together, snoring loudly, and she knew that Chichi and Gohan were in with Goku, but where were the others?
She found them, despite the fact that it was two-thirty in the morning, and well below zero degrees, quietly chatting amongst themselves in the front yard of the home. Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Piccolo, they were all huddled in a circle, all looking very sombre. Even her husband, Vegeta was there, though as usual he had refused to integrate himself fully into the group and was standing just off to the side, by himself.
Her breath turned to fog as it hit the cold night air, and snow crunched beneath her feet as she made room for herself in the circle between Yamcha and Tien.
“What about the dragonballs?” Yamcha asked. They all knew the answer, but they were desperate.
“Won’t work,” Tien replied, scuffing his boot into the dirty snow, “Shenron can’t reverse illness. It’s not in his power.”
“What about new dragonballs?” Bulma suddenly felt a glimmer of hope pulse through her, but it was just as quickly shot down by Piccolo.
“It’s not that simple,” he said, “and it takes time, which is something we just don’t have right now.”
Bulma’s shoulders slumped in defeat. “So we’re all out of options then?” she asked.
“We’re all outta options,” Krillin echoed.
--- If there was one thing that Goku was, above all else, he was a fighter. Despite the doctors initial prognosis of forty-eight hours, he had managed to hold on for four more days, ensuring that everyone had the time to say their goodbyes to the legendary Saiyan.
Still, that didn’t make it any easier when the moment arrived. True to his word, the kind doctor had kept his patient comfortable as his condition deteriorated, and it wasn’t until the final few hours that Goku had begun to show signs of distress. He was unconscious, of course, but the machines and monitors that he was hooked up to spoke a different story. His blood pressure began to rise as his heart had to work harder and harder for every beat, and his brain waves became more erratic as his body began to shut down.
Krillin had experienced death before, but not like this. His own death on Namek had been a strangely peaceful event. He remembered a warm glow taking over his body as he just sort of… faded away. There had been no fear or uncertainty, like there was now, just tranquillity.
This wasn’t the same though. This was death seen through the eyes of the living. The death of his very best friend in the world – they were more like brothers, really, and in just a few minutes, he would be gone, and there would be no bringing him back.
From the outside, Goku’s final moments looked serene, he even had what could almost be described as a smile on his face.  But Krillin knew what was going on behind the façade; he could sense it. Goku’s ki, his life force, which only weeks ago had over shadowed every other living being in the universe, was fading – fast. It was almost completely gone now, but then, just as it seemed like it was over, it would come surging back.
When he looked back on this dark day in the future, this would be the memory that hunted him the most. Knowing that Goku didn’t want to die, that he had fought it every step of the way and that even though they seemed calm, his final moments were anything but.
Gohan could sense it too, he was all too aware that his father, his hero, was waging the war of his life, his final battle; and all he could do was sit there, watch and hold his hand. He doubted there would ever be a time in his life where he would feel more useless than this.
A sob escape the young man’s throat as Goku’s ki took another steep dive, and this time, it didn’t recover. He was only 16 years old, he still had so much to learn from his father about what it was to be a man, a warrior. He wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet.
Beside him, Chichi sat, gently stroking her husband’s limp hair from his damp forehead, quietly soothing him, letting him know that everyone was here and had said they goodbyes. It was ok for him to go whenever he was ready. She wanted her voice to be the last thing he heard.
And it was.
In the same way a flame flickered just before it burned out, so too did Goku’s ki. From the outside, nothing appeared to change, but the energy inside of him quietly faded away, and just like that, he was gone.

Thats it. Hope you liked it. If you’d be interested in any more snippets from what I do have written up of the main story (again, completly unedited) let me know!
See you all again in a year probably!

Everything Wrong with the "I'll fight too" Goku Moment
youtube
Recently, I rewatched this DBZ moment and I noticed two things about it that left a sour taste in my mouth.
Massive disrespect to Chi Chi (and Goten)
Why did Goku announce his return to the Briefs family? Why were they the ones to hear Goku for the first time in years? I know Goku does not know about Goten but surely his widow deserves this moment more than Bulma and Vegeta? And then to make matters worse, Chi Chi is the last one to find out and Gohan informed his mom half-heartedly. Like...Chi Chi deserves so much better from her husband.
The friendship bonds are weak
Bulma, Krillin and Goku were like siblings. I understand they have families and people drift apart. I am certainly not close to most of my parents' friends. But Trunks does not even know who Krillin is?? Seriously! Krillin, who is one of Bulma's best friends? He's never even heard the name?? Krillin has never visited? But I guess only the Saiyan families keep in touch while the human friends are chopped liver. These people hardly feel like friends in GT anyway. Only the Briefs and Son families matter.

Note
Krillin doesn't deserve to be with 18. She deserves better than him. Shit, I hope she lets all the Saiyans run a train on her right in front of him, help him learn his place. So gross how he took advantage of her emotional vulnerability to worm his way in. So convenient how stans like you never address that even as you bitch about every other fucking ship under the sun, isn't it? So interesting how you support the most forced, toxic ship in the series but wanna smear VegeBul and TruMai. :)
You seem charming.

'🗣' + Let's have Jay's opinion on Goku Black :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Goku black was a good turning point in Super and it showed me at the time they were really ready to tackle new ideas. When Super had started we were ready for the prospect of continuing the story PAST resurrection F but instead all we got were retellings of the movie in episode format..which wouldn’t have been bad if it wasn’t an atrocity to look at during the time. Then AFTER we were finally done with Frieza we KNEW we were ginna get something new and at the time they didn’t disappoint me at all. Zamasu was a GREAT villain not because he was the traditional ‘evil’ character. It’s cause like many villains before him in other media he made you question the concept of morality, THEN AGAIN genocide is really not the way to go my man. I think his acr would have been MUCH better if he actually destroyed the beings that were misusing their intellect given to them by divinity. Because when you look at it he’s really NOT ALL that different from the destroyers we’ve met up until now. The only difference is he wasn’t a destroyer, bro was a Kai. I honestly think Gowasu should have taken those red flags seriously, maybe instead of a supreme kai he could have asked HIS God of Destruction for council or maybe even have Zamasu train under them. I would have TOTALLY been more okay if he destroyed specific and more DESERVING mortals instead of ALL of them. BUT either way Zamasu was a great character in my eyes and him body swapping with Goku was the icing of the cake because GOD I..well I can’t say i HATE Super Goku I just dislike him abit because of his own character regression at certain points because there ARE moments in super where I liked Goku, like him telling Broly he could call him Kakarot that was a G move right there for me, him recognizing Krillin’s own strength was another big W on Goku, it’s like the writers CAN do better but sometimes it feels like they just don’t want to. SOO YAH an evil Goku was DEFINITELY something great. ALSO since i’m here lemme lay out a stupid secret. The first time I saw Black I literally hypothesized that he was an Alternate Timeline variation of Kakarot.
