Bakugou has nicknames for people. He calls Ashido "Raccoon Eyes", Todoroki "Icy Hot"–

And Kirishima "Shitty Hair".

This is all normal until Kiri and Baku start dating and Kaminari calls him out for it. "Dude, it's not nice to call your boyfriend a 'shithead'."

Bakugou stares, "The fuck are you talking about?"

"Kirishima is your partner, right? So maybe you should call him something... I dunno, affectionate?"

"I do."

"Oh yeah? Name one thing you call Kirishima that isn't an insult."

Bakugou opens his mouth and is cut off by the redhead's voice.

"Hey bros, what's happenin'?" Kirishima jumps over the sofa and lands next to Bakugou, putting an arm around his shoulder, "Anything I miss?"

Kaminari sighs, "I'm telling your boyfriend here that the pet names he gives you are mean! How do they not bother you?"

Kiri blinks, "Because I do the same thing?"

Kaminari tilts his head and Kirishima nuzzles the side of Bakugou's face with his nose, his voice tilting into a childish tone, "He's my widdle bitch."

"Fuck off, bastard." Bakugou shoves at Kirishima halfheartedly but can't hide the smile that makes its way onto his lips. "You're so clingy."

"You love it," Kiri murmurs and kisses his cheek before bouncing up, going towards the kitchen, "and you love me."

"Choke."

"Later." He winks, "And I love you too, asshole." Kirishima blows him a kiss and walks off.

Kaminari is stunned speechless watching the interaction. It isn't normal behavior for two people that are in a relationship to call each other degrading names.

Then again, this is Kirishima and Bakugou. They're the furthest thing from normal.

And he realizes there's nothing wrong with that.

He couldn't erase his grin as he walked in, almost giddy to see his best friend, the worry of the moment gone. 

“Hey, buddy.” Katsuki’s dad said as soon as he walked in. Eijiro stayed by the entrance, the feeling of nerves creeping back up on him as quickly as they had left. 

“I'm not fucking five, dad.” He heard Katsuki scoff.

“Don't swear, brat. We have a guest.” Said a woman. 

“Another fucking doctor that's gonna tell me something's wrong with my head? Maybe I'd remember shit if these assholes stopped bugging me.”

“Katsuki, your doctors are just trying to help.” Katsuki’s dad assured him. “One of your friends is here, be nice.”

He heard Katsuki sigh, and he finally came from the cover of the door. He doesn't know why he's so nervous, considering that it's well…Katsuki . Maybe it's because he's around his parents for the first time. But they seem nice enough. And apparently, Katsuki talks about him. Which is a nice thing to know, especially because he loves to talk about Katsuki all the time. 

But how could he not? He's his best friend and his super cute crush. The biggest crush he's ever had at this point. And it's just nice to talk about all the sweet things Katsuki does for him and how much he admires him. No one ever gets to see that side of Katsuki, the caring, considerate side. He always feels so special that he gets to see it.

Could you blame him for wanting to talk about Katsuki all the time?

“Someone else I'm not gonna remember from that stupid school I go to?”

“Katsuki…” the woman said again, a sigh heavy on her voice. 

“What, Ma?”

He saw Katsuki in time to witness one of his signature eye-rolls, and he smiled.

“Hey, Kats. How are you feeling?” He greeted with a wave. 

Katsuki’s eyes went wide, pretty pink flushing his cheeks and he swallowed, “Holy fucking shit.”

He walked an inch closer, “Man, I was so worried about you.” He admits, laughing quietly. 

Katsuki shook his head for a split second, “Who the hell are you?”

Eijiro’s heart gave a single pound. His dad had said his brain was a little messed up, but…

“Um—ah, I'm Kirishima. Or uh, you like to call me Shitty Hair. Or Eiji.” His cheeks flamed as the words left him.

“Sorry, kid. The doctor said he was hit by some type of memory loss quirk,” explained Katsuki's mom. 

“Oh,” he pouted, “That's okay. Uh—I mean, I'm sorry.”

“Not your fucking fault.” Katsuki said, scoffing.

“Why don't we let you two catch up? Want some food, Katsuki?” Katsuki's dad asked.

“Whatever.”

“What about you, kiddo? Have you eaten yet?” Katsuki’s dad turned to ask him. 

“I'm fine, thank you!” Eijiro replied. 

With that, Katsuki's parents left, and Eijiro didn't know how to act. Especially because Katsuki was staring him straight on, an intense glare like he was an equation he was analyzing.

“Who are you?” Katsuki said with a squint of his eyes.

“Um...Eijiro? We go to U.A together.”

“Fucking obviously.”

Summary:

Katsuki gets hit with a memory loss quirk and Eijiro doesn't know how to navigate thier "new" friendship.

An unstoppable force meets an immovable object.

Katsuki Bakugou’s hand implodes against Eijirou Kirishima’s arm; a flurry of sparks surround them with a sound that rings between his skull. 

This is something he knows how to do well. With every blow that Katsuki unleashes, he feels Kirishima retaliate with more, responding like a dance to his every movement. Katsuki is a fine-tuned instrument of destruction, every muscle on his body worked with the intention of winning. 

His back, flexible from years of stretching, twists around as he spins in midair to unleash a flurry of miniature, controlled explosions. His shoulders, the sturdiest part of his body, brace him as he rolls against the ground and absorbs the impact of returning to earth. His legs, built from running endless miles, coil underneath him as he jumps back up, forever ready for action.

Katsuki hears Kirishima laugh, his hands raised to protect his face. He already knows what’s coming when Katsuki raises his hands. 

While the rest of his body may be useful in a fight, only his hands are truly necessary.

Calluses line his palms and fingertips. His hands flex into a bent-open shape. Scars twist from the sides, proof of past failures. 

These are hands created solely for ruin. 

He launches himself at Kirishima. 

They begin their weaving dance again– Katsuki lands two blows for every swoop of Kirishima’s legs or arms, feeling the anger and satisfaction burning like twin flames beneath his ribs. Kirishima always seems to last longer every fight, causing Katsuki to move more, losing stamina and exposing his weak spots. 

Katsuki is a man of science, and he considers himself decent at physics. Understanding the molecular structure and the trajectory of an explosion felt relevant to his work, so he took electives and studied extra.

He knows this scenario well, but has yet to find an answer for it. What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? What happens when someone who always wins goes toe-to-toe with someone who refuses to lose?

Kirishima spits at the ground, flexes his arms, and somehow toughens his skin even more. A wicked grin takes over Katsuki’s face.

At first, he thought that the solution to this paradox was Kirishima always losing. The issue with that? Kirishima wouldn’t stay down . 

“Again?” he asked, the reply the same after every defeat. Katsuki always nodded, as much as it pissed him off. He had to respect Kirishima’s goals. He wanted to be undefeatable, strong enough to take on anything that came his way. 

Katsuki didn’t think he realized that he already was unbeatable due to his spirit alone.

Now, Katsuki thinks that the solution to their physics problem was simple all along. An unstoppable force meets an immovable object, a knife meets a stone, both of them get stronger, sharper, better, make each other better. 

Until, finally. Kirishima grips Katsuki’s ankle as he flies overhead. He made a mistake. 

Katsuki goes down, gets pinned, and loses his breath in an instant. The pain is instantaneous and leaves quickly when Kirishima’s smiling face comes to hover over his eyeline as he unpins Katsuki. 

He’s breathing heavily, sweat dripping into his eyes and making him blink.

“Need a hand up?”

Katsuki’s hand slowly raises. He looks at it before he places it in Kirishima’s, wondering if it might have more than one purpose now. Kirishima’s hand is rough and warm as he yanks Katsuki to his feet. He’s glowing under the midday sun, and he should be: this is the first time he’s ever beaten Katsuki in a sparring match. He expects Kirishima to gloat or to celebrate or to at least beam with pride, but he does none of those things. 

Instead, he utters the same old call.

“Again?”

Something thrums within Katsuki, deep down, an answer. 

He looks at Kirishima, who is unwavering in his stance and his gaze. He accepts.

Mermaid Kiri sees Sailor Baku for the first time and just needs to tell him that he's the prettiest pearl he's ever laid eyes on, and that he'd like to court him.

To Bakugou though, a redheaded mermaid hits the boat, lifts its head, and then proceeds to scream like a banshee.

Does it work on Bakugou? Duh. He teaches Kirishima how to talk, and of course the mermaid is more than happy to learn! He wants to court his new mate right, and eventually he will.

One day he and Baku are hanging out, with him mindlessly swimming on the side while Baku does his own thing. Then Kiri decides to try out what he's learned.

"Ka...Ka--sii... may...tee?"

Bakugou stops what he's doing and tilts his head to the side, smiling. "Yes. Yes, I'm your mate."

Kirishima understands the word "yes", and lets out another loud noise, his gills vibrating with excitement. It was official. He finally courted Bakugou! He couldn't be happier.
