verdite: my muse's ethnicity/family history

          ruth is an ashkenazi jewish woman born to to german-jewish parents from dusseldorf. her mother’s name was edie eisenhardt, married to jakob lehnsherr – together they had two children, ruth and max. noah is edie’s older brother, and the godfather to ruth. jakob was the youngest child of three – oskar and erich were his brothers, all of them different in the ways that mattered and the same in the ones that hurt.           her grandmother, randi, died a year after her birth. her grandfather, maximilian, collapsed from hunger in the streets of warsaw. erich and noah went out to rebel and never came home, shot like dogs in the street. (they always fancied themselves a back of dogs, everyone who knew them knew that trouble loved company and they were a force unto themselves.) edie was killed at the hands of shaw. max was ripped away from his family by shaw and became a new man. oskar was worked to death. jakob’s fate remains unknown to ruth to this day. for her part, she was nearly dead of typhoid by the time they were liberated by the soviets.           after a long stay in the displacement camps of europe she was eventually adopted by a jewish couple living in the united states – eli and abigail krakowitz, third-generation children of polish immigrants from manchester, new york. she never took their last name officially, so she remains lehnsherr; and she knows them as mom and dad, not mami and tateshi.           jakob and erich have both made their way to the city on seperate endeavors, unbeknownst to their living family. max – erik – is still an unknown variable. ruth has made her peace with the rest.

One of the main BBEGs of my Broken World campaign- the Architect, the necromancer , the Senator, the one and only (if you’re not counting the simulacrums)- it’s ILYA KRAKOWITZ! Aka just Krakowitz, and his little familiar, Gobby. Boss and eventual lover (yikes!) of Marin and boss of Viotto and Ser Deven as well.

His Fellow BBEG Engay (upcoming) was openly vicious and cruel- but Krakowitz always preferred a more subtle hand at getting what he wants. So, when he decided he wanted her dead, he planted his agent Marin in her ranks as Matthia.

The final character in my fashion lineup, and the most vile by far. The primary antagonist of my Broken World campaign, the cruel, the malignant, the manipulative SELENE ENGAY!

Ex (though that changed moment to moment) of Maria, lover (and future ex) of Beetle, and boss of our cast of heroes! Evil collaborator with Krakowitz and The Target of Falkas’ singleminded hunt. A mesmerist capable of incredibly feats of lying (seriously she had like a +30) and a cruel hand. Never met a bad guy who deserved to die more

If I could go back I think I’d add even more eyeball Imagery in……… the fit is cool but not nearly creepy enough

          her hands have settled in her lap, fidgeting with the plaits in her skirt. to this day, there is something unsettling about manchester men recognizing her as the krakowitz girl ---- the prodigal daughter, who fled to new york to get a college degree, who never comes home from brooklyn to see her poor, lonely parents, who can’t keep a man at twenty-nine, who speaks too loudly and often; perhaps these are not the stories that abigail tells, but ruth has learned to fear the worst when reputation is concerned. she is still an outsider here, no matter how much of her adolescence was spent roaming these streets. this is something she can never forget.           ‘ ---- so. i have to ask you this, and i understand that doctors have to keep quiet about their patients, but -- but you can just nod your head, and i won’t tell a soul, i promise. does dad actually have bad blood pressure? because ---- i have this suspicion that he is as healthy as a horse, and that mom is telling me this to make me feel guilty so that i will visit more often. ’
