Tsuki ga Kirei: Anime review
Finally done with this series. It took me 5 hours to binge watch all 12 episodes. And now here I am to write my thoughts on it since the series was really good.
In the recent seasons, we hardly see good shoujo with pure love nowadays that’s why it was a surprise to see two of them this season. Though I was gonna watch the other only and had put this one off for ages.
Fukumenkei noise the other shoujo was the one I really wanted to watch since they had announced its anime. I have been reading its manga since the starting and I absolutely love it, it's one of my fave shoujo of all time.
That's why I was biased towards Tsuki Ga Kirei and just seeing PV I had assumed quite narrow-mindedly that it was a typical shoujo of middle schoolers hooking up. So I put it off for very long but yesterday I had completed all my watching list and felt like watching something fluffy and sweet and then this came to my mind. Still, I had checked its reviews and ratings on Reddit and then albeit reluctantly watched the first episode.
And that killed all my doubts and thoughts I had, even now I feel ashamed to have made assumptions without even giving it a chance. The first episode was sweet, slow and so painfully similar to my middle school days that I was reminded of exactly how I was, how all of us are as middle schoolers - Still kids but trying to be adults.
During the whole series, I was feeling nostalgic and cringing a little since even I had experienced all those embarrassing moments. The story is nowhere same as mine in major plot out but the small parts were very similar. especially their relationship minus the cliche plots and the happy end. Leaving my personal story aside, the whole story was portrayed beautifully and realistic ( well as realistic they could, after all, they have to give that happy end). Their struggles with the school were quite on point and Koutarou's struggle with his passion and future and the family which came from good intentions was something I related really well.
His mother though loved her son was strict on him since she knew how hard it is to live in a real world with a fantastical dream. His dad who once shared his dreams wanted him to not feel cornered and always said him to do what he likes. The parent's portrayal was real, one who always supports you, one who is strict on you and their love for us and understanding only they have. Akane's parents were also in a way really cute with her mom supporting and encouraging her daughters, while her dad though quite loudly supportive he still tried to be intimidating and very protective. ( Which was really cute.) her sister is the perfect older sibling, best support and the worst enemy to have. Always ratting her out to parents and making her embarrassed while also giving her good life lessons and the words she needs to hear, and someone she can say things without worrying about appearances. (though they are still annoying.)
Next, their whole school drama was something you see everywhere quite often. Even in my school we had all the clinches, having a group which pretends to be BFF but you know you won't stay long with them, dealing with your best friends and guys, and obviously the other third wheels. I had mixed feelings about Akane still being with Chinatsu even after all that happened. I don't hate her but there were things she shouldn't have done. But they are middle schoolers and we all make mistakes and she made up to them but I really wished Akane would at least set boundaries Like Koutaru did because those are necessary. The whole BFF group were a little annoying at times but I think their portrayal was quite real and kind of needed. I liked how they didn't show over the top drama like spreading rumours and back bitching ( except once, where it was expected.) because that would have ruined the show and destroy all realistic image it had been building up. And last I liked how it let them deal with their problems on there own while slightly involving the other but not too much because that would be overbearing and showing them slightly apart also built them individually which I had actually loved to see more than their love story. Because nowadays you hardly see individual character growth which is quite beautiful in its own way.
There is more I want to write but I'll leave it at this now because or else it will become a short story. The final Impressions are - the story development was good, well paced and kept up with its original idea while not destroying anything they had set up from starting. The characters were put on point and something I could easily relate to. ( Koutarou is my favourite for now.) The end was really fitting and perfect. Them leaving with sad feelings but making it work out in their own ways and then the awesome happy end which we had all expected but seeing their conversations during ages grow was a nice cherry on top to the ending and character development. Final best moments, which are - koutarou getting angry, Akane and Koutarou dealing with their future while handling their relationship, the bittersweet partying and the last family photo. ( Gosh red thread tied to their pinkies had so many meanings perfectly said in one picture that it was stunningly perfect.)
Now the bad points for me - Akane and Koutarou just didn't have that many conversations I mean as they got close I wanted them to be more open and understanding towards each other but they still kept them as introverted shy kids which are cute but almost a year has passed they need to get over a little shyness, not totally that would ruin them but a little more open would be good. Then the side relationships and characters which were not given a good closure. Come on you tease us with them and then you don't give us where they are or what they are doing is just so wrong to them. And the whole getting into the relationship was a little too fast in my opinion. LIke he confessed in 3rd while I would have liked it to be in 4th after school trip or between. It made it look they were just infatuated teens so that was a whole turn off for me.
Last but not least, The Dazai Osamasu quotes which are not bad things at all but I have a serious question, how come he made the right quotes for every situation Koutarou was, like how? Man, I heard he was awesome but I am starting to actually think he understands a Teens heart way too well to write all the right quotes for the right times.
Judgement - 8/10. Definite recommendation.
With this, my review ends. I know it really long and I honestly don't expect any remarks on it. But a shout out to this show. To anyone, who read this and didn't watch the show please watch it even after you have read all the spoilers. Because it maybe not be the best shoujo but It's perfect in its own way and I totally recommend it. So go watch it and enjoy seeing the beautiful middle school love.

Haikyuu sibling headcanons
These are the headcanons I have for characters I think would have siblings.
Koushi Sugawara: I headcanon Suga to have three older sisters. The oldest two (born three years before Suga) are twins named Aoi and Ayama. Aoi is not very bright and sometimes apathetic, while Ayama is extremely smart and caring. The youngest is only a year older than Suga and is named Kaiya. She is very sporty and has a loud personality
Asahi Azumane: I headcanon Asahi to have a younger sister in her third year or middle school. Her name is Hana. She is the complete opposite of Asahi, she is extroverted, loud, not afraid to speak her mind and extremely strong willed.
Tadashi Yamaguchi: Tadashi has two younger siblings Sana his sister and Ren his non binary sibling. Sana is like Tadashi and is very shy while Ren is loud and obnoxious.
Hajime Iwaizumi: Iwaizumi is a middle child in this headcanon. His elder sisters name is Mei. She is kind hearted and holds her brothers extremely close to her heart. Haru is only nine and think his older brother is the coolest person he’s ever met.
Tooru Oikawa: Oikawa’s sisters is 5 years older than him. Chihiro her name is and she had Takeru at a very young age but to her luck the father was very supportive of her and they got married as soon as they were both 21. Chihiro calls her brother whenever she can and visits quite often.
Issei Matsukawa: Mattsun a younger sister named Fumiko. She doesn’t talk much and Mattsun’s main goal everyday is to make her laugh. Her first year of High School was really tough so seeing her smile makes his day.
Takehiro Hanamaki: Makki will forever spite the day that his older brother Hiroshi didn’t hold his power over his head. His brother can be nice..sometimes.
Tetsurou Kuroo: Kuroo has two older brothers. Masohiro being the oldest despite being shorter than the two. Masohiro has a aggressive caring nature and is very protective of Kuroo. Naoko is the more fun and do whatever you want kind of sibling but would literally go to jail if it meant Kuroo was safe. They would push each other of a cliff though.
Kenma Kozume: Kenma has a little brother Ryo who is ten and despite their large age gap and differentiating tastes in hobbies and activities they get along quite well. Ryo is kind of protective of Kenma.
Morisuke Yaku: Yaku has the unfortunate blessing of having toddler twin sisters. Chika and Azumi are both extreme handfuls. Where do you think Yaku got so good at looking after people from?
Koutarou Bokuto: Seijun is Bokuto’s thirteen year old sister who is smarter than him and helps him all of the time. Had a bad day she is there for you, had a fight with a friend she is talking to you and them to sort it out, need help with you english homework shes got your back. She gives the best hugs and the best advice and if you don’t have Akaashi on hand when Bokuto is having a bad day Seijun is the person to call.
Satori Tendou: He has an older brother Eichi. I really got nothing on him other than he is in a band.
Yuji Terushima: A lil bro named Sho who gets more girls(and boys) than Teru.

Tsuki ga Kirei – 08
Simplicity can contain multitudes. By that, I mean sometimes there’s a lot to be found in a pure, unembellished tale of first love of the kind blooming between Koutarou and Akane. With Chinatsu out of the way (an unpleasant but necessary step), all that stands between the two is their gossiping peers at school, eager to know all there is to know.
But there isn’t that much to know. Akane doesn’t even give a straight answer to the question “Why Azumi?” She may not be able to put it in words, but that doesn’t bother her; she doesn’t care why she likes him, she just…does. And he likes her, which is why they now actively do all they can to see as much of each other as possible, during which time they’ll explore more about the ‘why’.
During their private lunch in the library, Kotarou gets a text asking him to attend a hayashi practice, and Akane pounces on the opportunity to see her boyfriend perform, which he does. Just as Akane seemed to run harder, Kotarou dances harder, impressing the hell out of his girlfriend.
Kotarou also gets nods of approval from his hayashi peers, one of whom suggests the couple attend Hikawa Shrine’s Summer festival, famous for its hanging wind chime fortunes. Akane arrives at their meeting spot for the date in full yukata. Kotarou is loving the look; Akane is loving how he’s loving it.
A near-perfect festival date ensues, with no one getting lost or bumping into unwanted secondary characters. Akane also cuts her foot on her sandal, but Kotarou tenderly bandages it when she can’t bend over in the yukata. They don’t let anything spoil their enjoyment of the night and of each other.
Akane ducks away for a bit, but only once she hears Kotarou’s most recent birthday has already passed, and decides to get him a little present: the same beanbag stress toy she has. The only remaining ‘drama’ is her trying to finding the right time and place to present it to him.
Once she does, she feels much better, and Kotarou is grateful, and decides the time has come for him to call his girlfriend by her first name, and she, in turn, calls him by his. And with no one around to suddenly stop them, they finally connect for real on their first kiss, finishing what they started last week and hadn’t been able to stop thinking about.
It all happens to the tune of a rendition of “Summer Festival”, which I last heard in Re:Life. The camera keeps a tasteful distance, underscoring how the two must feel like they’re in their own little world. The next time her friends at school ask, Akane can tell them being with Kotarou makes her feel safe.
The parting shot of what the two wrote on their chime wishes—they both wrote the same thing: to be together forever—is a little mushy, but who cares! I daresay these kids are gonna be alright, and there’s a quiet thrill in watching them steadily improve at this thing called courtship.
