finished season one of The Apothecary Diaries and overall I loved it! I love Maomao, I love Jinshi, I love their interactions. Great side characters too. The mysteries were generally brief and not really intricate but that wasn't the focus of the show so that was fine.

but what gets me is the sharp veer it took with Lakan's character. Lakan showed up like "hi I'm a freak, a nasty little creepy fucker of a guy, let me tell you about the courtesan I fantasized about raping". Jinshi's like "hey, Maomao, about your dad" and Maomao says "🔪🔪🔪" which seems perfectly reasonable! but then ten episodes later they did a complete 180 and was like "but they really loved each other! it was bad timing and miscommunication!" and Maomao's like "nah, I don't hate him" and I'm like "..........hai?" because why have him say all that stuff and be a weird creeper if he isn't really???? I'm so confused LOL
