a weremouse korppu, snarling and growling on all fours, but too tiny to be intimidating to anyone who's bigger than a regular mouse...

i'm panic spamming all the cool hrothgal art i have in my drafts before dawntrail releases bc i'd been meaning to write a post about my thoughts on their designs ever since the benchmark came out and didn't want to reblog any fanart before i did that, but then i never got around to actually doing it so now i'm just like aaaaAAAA gotta reblog everything before dawntrail

i know ffxiv has never been big on doing race specific dialogue, but there's a small part of me that was sort of hoping that there'd be at least some kind of small acknowledgement in iq br'aax (or anywhere in dawntrail for that matter) for a hroth WoL at some point, even during a side quest or something...

honestly if the hrothgals end up looking even like 60% as close to what i'm hoping for them to be i'm gonna start simping so hard it won't even be funny

quick EU fanfest thoughts

viper seems alright. i don't dislike it but don't really feel all that excited for it either. as far as original jobs go, it isn't immediately as 'cool' to me as reaper was, but maybe i'll warm up to it?

a FFXI collab as an alliance raid!! i don't know that much about FFXI, having never played it but this is still really exciting to me! it's been fun just seeing people get excited about the prospect of larger FFXI themed content.

a lot of the new graphical updates they were showing later on during the dev talk seem genuinely really cool! i was particularly impressed by the screenshots they showed depicting the new fog.

(as a sidenote they also mentioned that the grass texture they are using in labyrinthos came from a photo a dev took while visiting finland. representation!!!!)

even though i was expecting it, it was still kind of a bummer that no hrothgals were shown yet. (all the more reason to look forward to the JP fanfest though!)

the fall guys shirt they showed during the collab trailer looks AWFUL and i want twelve of them. it's also coming way sooner than i thought!

FFXVI collab as well! haven't played that one either but it's cool that it's coming! now i'm also curious to see what they're gonna do collab-wise on FFXVI's side...

quick NA fanfest thoughts

the vibes!! of the new trailer!!! were immaculate. after endwalker i was really hoping that the next thing would be something more lighthearted and this really seems to be going for that sort of direction, which i'm honestly really glad and excited about!

no hrothgals just yet, but i wasn't that hopeful for them to be revealed just yet anyway

there were mentions of hrothgar settlements in one of the new areas which!! i'm very excited about!!!

of course, the new graphical updates and stuff like being able to have two dyes per clothing is super neat as well!

i was completely flabbergasted by the fall guys crossover lmao. since i really love the soundtrack in that game i'm now wondering if we're gonna get remixes of some kind in either of the games, or just re-used songs

all in all, it was a ton of fun to watch, and i'm really eagerly waiting for the EU fanfest! (they better reveal hrothgals in that one though.)

getting closer and closer to the JPN fanfest and the hrothgal reveal...

i'm just as anxious and curious to see what they're gonna look like as anyone else, but i'm also immensely eager to find out what the player voices for them are going to be like!

...i really hope there's at least one that has some good growly noises, y'know??

y'all should consider yourselves extremely lucky that we don't live in a timeline where the hrothgars have paws instead of human feet because i would be absolutely unhinged about the new mystery feet if they were cute furry feetpaws

looking at all the different art and speculations of what the hroth ladies are gonna look like, it got me wondering – did something similiar occur with the au ra back in post-ARR, before Heavensward?

i wouldn't know since i wasn't around back then, but i'd be really curious to hear if folks were speculating on, for instance, what yugiri would look like under the mask and stuff like that.

were there fandesigns? fanart? did people like the au ra designs once they were fully revealed?

and here's my WoL! eorzea's favourite errand boy, all-around good egg and a very sweet boy. please be kind to him.

i've never really thought up an actual name for him, but i have come up with a nickname of sorts, which would be koel – the roegadyn word for 'coeurl'. (see i think it's funny because he has the hrothgar face that resembles coeurls and i love names that are really on the nose with their meanings)

other than his nickname, and a few very basic tidbits of backstory that i've come up with, he doesn't really have that much 'lore'; for the most part he's just my silly little hrothgar guy, who i like to take silly little pictures of.

just as a small heads up – i'm gonna be taking a small break from the hrothtober prompts!

i guess a quick tl;dr on my thoughts on them so far would be:

reaaally wish they were bulkier – it really sucks that all the playable female races have to be skinny!

there are a few things about all the faces that do bother me a little even now, mainly kinda wish the muzzles and mouths were wider, and it feels a little like their face shapes in general are a little more human shaped than their male counterparts, which i'm not too enthusiasthic about?

i'm especially not too huge on face 4 in particular – feels too "human-like", with the nose shape and sort of human lip like mouth markings

that being said, faces 1 to 3 are great! i really like how they mostly mirror their male counterparts, and how there are some things that are shared between them, like the coeurl moustache being an option for both male and female hroths

absolutely adore some of the voices! 7, 8, and 11 especially have the kind of growly noises i was hoping to hear from them

overall, i do like 'em, and i'm very much looking forward to trying them out myself, and seeing them as npc characters and such!

i feel like my thoughts will probably change and/or solidify more as we get to actually play and see them more when dawntrail comes though, so these are just initial musings that i'm posting way, way too late lol
