“Sorry, Kol. Maybe I’ll feel better in a few days.” You finished leaving the voicemail for your best friend then looked at yourself in the mirror. The bruising on the side of your face was ever darkening. There was no way you could let Kol see you in this state. He’d go ballistic.
You and your boyfriend had always had what others would call a volatile relationship. Lots of yelling. Lots of slammed doors and leaving only to come back the next day. But it had never been physical. Not until today. He was drunk and you’d asked him about a photo one of your friends had sent you of his arms wrapped around some girl that wasn’t you. He’d hit you, told you it was none of your business and stormed out.
The small cut on your cheekbone where the skin split had quit bleeding fairly quickly. You still put a bandage on it just in case. But the bruising. God. Your skin was tight where your face swelled and it was all tender to the touch. You wiped away the tears that leaked from your eyes and sniffed. It would be days before you could go anywhere. Fuck.
“Y/N?” Kol’s voice came from elsewhere in your apartment. He must have let himself in with his key.
Your eyes went wide and you locked the bathroom door. “I left you a message that I was sick,” you called back.
He laughed that low chuckle of his that always made it seem like he was up to something even when he wasn’t. You heard him moving closer until his steps stopped on the other side of the door. “Yes, you did, darling, but I can’t get sick. We’ll simply stay here instead of going to the grill and I’ll take care of you.”
You sighed and leaned your head against the door. Why did he have to be so damn sweet? Well, to you anyway. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’ll probably be in the bathroom all night. Can’t stop puking.”
There was a long stretch of silence. “Why are you lying to me?”
Your breathing grew shallow as your heart sped and your hands started to shake. This wasn’t good at all. This was very, very bad. You backed away from the door, hoping if you put enough space between you he wouldn’t be able to tell when you lied again.
The handle jiggled as he tried to come in. “Y/N,” he growled your name. “Tell me what’s going on or I’m breaking the door.”
“Don’t break the damn door,” you snapped, knowing he’d do it. He was going to see you either way. If you let him in, you’d at least avoid doing some minor home repair. “I’ll open it but you have to promise that you won’t just take off on me.”
“Did you dye your hair again, darling?” he teased referring to the time you’d tried to dye your hair bright red by yourself and missed half your head. He’d helped you fix it, making a surprisingly good hairdresser. “It can’t be that—”
He cut off as you swung open the door. His hands were braced on the frame to either side of the doorway. His gaze turned dark as it immediately locked on your injury. He gripped your chin lightly to turn your head so he could get a complete picture. “What happened?” his tone was casual and you wondered what it cost him. The set of his jaw and look in his eye was enough to tell you that he was furious.
Another tear ran down your cheek. You immediately found yourself wrapped in his arms and pulled against his chest. “None of that, sweet girl. You’re alright now. Kol is here.”
He led you to the couch and got you both settled. For several minutes, he just held you and played with your hair. “Now, the only reason you would have tried to avoid me would be if you got yourself injured helping the cult of Elena.” You snorted at the name he’d come up with for the group. “Or, if that idiot Gregory was somehow responsible.”
Your breath hitched and you knew that was answer enough but he seemed to be waiting for you to tell him all the same. “He’s never hit me before.”
Kol moved away from you, frowning at you in anger and irritation. “So, that excuses this? I’m supposed to ignore it because it was the first time?”
You shook your head. “No, that’s…I didn’t want you thinking that I let him do this. That I’d been hiding it from you.”
His dark gaze looked over you. He knew you weren’t lying, so maybe he was surprised by your words. His tongue traced his bottom lip. “Were you going to tell me?”
You shrugged. “Maybe. It just happened. I’m still processing. Plus, I know how you are. I don’t think him punching me warrants a death sentence.”
“Hmm. Well, we can agree to disagree on that point, darling.” He paused before taking a deep breath. “I would like to heal you.”
“Yes, please. This is embarrassing.”
His hand cupped your uninjured cheek and he leaned forward to make certain he had your attention. “You have no reason to be embarrassed. But it will perhaps be better if you are uninjured when the police come to question you.”
You let out a surprise huff of laughter. “Kol.”
“Darling,” he said back, drawing out the a. He pulled out his phone and held it up. “First, a picture.”
Your brow furrowed as he turned your face slightly so he could get the angle he wanted.
“Perfect,” he said and slipped the phone away before biting into his wrist. He held it out and you took a few sips. His grin when you finished told you that you were all healed up. You reached up and pulled off the bandage.
“What’s with the photo?” you asked.
His grin widened. “That’s for me to show Elijah when he wants to know why Gregory is an extended guest in our basement.”

25 Days of Christmas Special!
Tumblr media
Oh my god. He’s so pretty. I need help. My mom literally told me I’m gonna end up marrying a criminal one day and I was like. Oh. Thanks, mom. We have good times. Like if I shift to the Vampire Diaries you best bet I am going to marry a criminal but like here, eh. Maybe. I’m probably on the FBI watchlist at this point. Side note, I love Caroline but she’s getting hard core dissed in this thing so like I guess that’s a warning. Also sorry that this one is a day late. I had writers block.
3.) Secret Santa
“Why did you invite him?” Caroline asked Y/N quietly.
“I don’t know why it’s such a big deal to you. He was literally trapped alone in a prison world for years of his life. He hasn’t had any pleasant Christmases.”
“Oh, I don’t know why I’d be upset that you brought a sociopath that murdered his entire family.”
“Yeah. I don’t know why you’d be upset either but we’re all here for secret Santa, so I guess you’ll just have to deal with it.” Y/N sassed.
“Yeah. Merry freaking Christmas. I have a sociopath and Damon Salvatore in our house. Our house Y/N. Ours.”
“You really shouldn’t be upset. I’m pretty sure l am the only person in this house right now who hasn’t killed someone. Also, you literally look like you want to murder me right now, so you and Kai have more in common than I thought.” Y/N said. She patted her older sister on the back before leaving the kitchen where Caroline insisted on a sidebar.
As Y/N walked into the sitting room, she heard Caroline groan in frustration.
“You do know that more than half of the room heard that conversation, right?” Damon asked as Y/N sat in between him and Kai.
“Yep. Do I care? No.”
“I think you’ve been hanging around those two too much, Y/N.” Bonnie said gesturing towards Damon and Kai.
“That hurts Bon Bon. It hurts.” Damon said sarcastically placing his hand over his chest. Bonnie smiled but rolled her eyes.
“Well, now you made Caroline into the Grinch, so hopefully she doesn’t take it out on the rest of us.” Elena said.
“I heard that!” Caroline yelled from the kitchen. They all laughed under their breath. Seconds later Caroline came out of the kitchen carrying cookies, a light scowl planted on her face. It soon turned into a fake smile, you know one of those scary Caroline fake smiles.
“Hmm. I’m fine. I’m totally fine. This’ll be the best secret Santa ever. Who knows? Might even top Friendsgiving where Jo almost died on the couch. Such low expectations to meet. It has to be better, right? Right?”
“Okay. Okay. Let’s just put down the hot tray of cookies. That’s it.” Stefan said patting her on the shoulder.
Caroline let out a sigh, trying to calm herself. “So, let’s get started.”
The tension in the air was thick. Kai hadn’t said a word. Every time Y/N looked over he was on Twitter. At one point she almost laughed because she saw him looking at Ralph Macchio’s Twitter.
“Okay so, everyone knows how this works right? Give the person’s name you drew last week the gift. It’s simple seriously. If you don’t know how this works you’re an idiot.” Caroline said.
“Okay. So, the passive aggressive attitude hasn’t passed has it?” Y/N asked.
Caroline rolled her eyes. “Let’s just get this over with. Also, I’d appreciate if you found somewhere else to stay at tonight.”
“Rude. Yo, Damon, can I stay in one of the spare bedrooms tonight?”
“Sure. Problem solved blondie.” He said addressing Caroline in her least favorite way. She scoffed.
“I don’t get a say? It’s my house too.” Stefan chimed in.
“Do you have something to say to me there, Stef?” Y/N asked.
“No, I would just like for my brother to console me before having someone spend the night in my house.”
“Our house Stefan. Ours.”
“Oh lovely. Just what we need! Another sibling feud!” Elena exlclaimed.
“Okay, you know what? I’m just gonna go. I don’t want in the middle of this whatsoever. Elena, are you coming?” Bonnie asked.
“Don’t have to ask me twice.” She said following Bonnie out the door.
“Great! Look what you did, Y/N!”
“What I did?! You’re the one that’s being a bitch!”
“You did not just go there!”
“I’m the oldest one Stefan! I make the decisions!”
“Well you sure don’t act like it, Damon!”
The arguments overlapped as Kai stood in the corner observing.
“Heh. Just how Christmas was at my house.” Kai smirked to himself.
Kai didn’t quite catch what was said that caused it to happen, but Y/N punched Caroline in the face.
She gasped popping her broken nose back in place. “Jerk!” She exclaimed.
“Bitch!” Y/N said back. She flipped her off and ran upstairs. Minutes later she came back down carrying a bag of essentials. “Have fun telling mom why I’m not home by curfew, you dumbass! Come on, Kai.”
He chuckled to himself a bit, then followed her. Not long after, they had arrived at Kai’s apartment.
“You coming in or what? You’re staying here now right?” He asked.
“I was just gonna like sleep in my car, but since your offering…”
“You’re welcome anytime your sister’s being stuck up and bitchy.”
“Oh so literally 24/7? Thanks.” She joked.
“Sorry you had to listen to that.” She muttered as they entered the building.
“Eh. I’m used to it.”
They entered his apartment. Y/N threw her stuff beside the couch. There was an awkward moment of silence before Kai broke it.
“I’m hungry. Are you hungry?”
“Yeah. You wanna go to the Grill or something?”
“Yeah. Let’s go.”
They drove to the Grill and entered to see Damon at the bar drinking whiskey. What else was new?
“Stef kick you out of the house?” Y/N joked.
“Oh ha ha, Y/N. No, I just don’t want to deal with his bullshit. Well, would you look at that? You brought the psychopath with you.”
“Sociopath.” Kai corrected. The door swung open revealing Bonnie and Elena.
“Wow. We all try to avoid each other and end up in the same place.” Elena said.
“Well, merry freaking Christmas and a happy new year. My sister hates me. It’s 7:00 pm and I’m drinking. And I haven’t even stabbed anyone with a candy cane yet. I’ve always wanted to do that.” She mumbled the last sentence to herself. She downed a shot.
“Also you aren’t even 21 and are drinking in a public place.” Elena added. Y/N glared at her.
“You know, I’m starting to worry about your violent tendencies.” Bonnie stated.
“I think it suits her.” Damon smirked.
“I definitely agree with Damon for once in my life. It’s hot.”
Y/N elbowed Kai in the ribs.
“Ow. Why didn’t he get elbowed?” Kai complained.
“He wasn’t flirting with me.”
Y/N ordered some chicken strips and French fries from Matt.
“You’re such a child.” Damon said. “Oh I’m sorry I would rather eat chicken strips than a salad or a blood bag. I’m not a vampire or a real adult, Damon. You should know that by now.”
“Oh yeah. I forgot in the midst of everything. Merry Christmas, Kai.” Y/N handed him a Walkman and a cassette. “I made you a mixtape. I understand if you don’t like use it or anything but…”
“No, Y/N, I like it. Thanks…Wow. Ugh, I’m having that mushy feeling again. Gross. Feelings are hard.”
Bonnie and Elena gave each other a look. “Damon, let’s go play pool or something.” Bonnie said. Her and Elena forced him to get up.
Once they got over to the pool table, Damon glared at them. “No. No. No. We were doing damage control. Are you two seriously going to let your best friend fall in love with him?”
“Look, this could potentially make him less of a threat. Wouldn’t you like to let the issue fix itself for once? Kai has feelings now. He is in love with her. We keep it that way, he might not go on another murderous rampage.”
“How did you say that so nonchalantly? He has feelings because he literally killed his brother.” Damon said gesturing toward him.
“Oh god. They’re making out. That is literally disgusting. How are you all okay with this?”
“I don’t want to do something for once. I agree with Elena. Let the problem fix itself.” Bonnie said.
“You know what? Fine. I won’t interfere. I’ll just be watching. I’ll l be waiting because sooner or later this is going to bite you both in the ass, just like when she was with Kol. The cycle is repeating, and I’m not helping this time when you just ‘leave it alone’”
Damon left, and Bonnie and Elena both shrugged and started playing pool. “Merry Christmas Elena.” “Merry Christmas Bonnie.”

maybe you were the ocean, when i was just a stone (6/?)
a/n: I can't believe I'm revamping this fic but I'm revamping this fic - it will be uploaded on ao3 as well, I will not be updating it on ffn.
-
xvi: we could open windows -
-
Klaus isn't one for love triangles - he's not even one for love.
He's counted less than a handful of times where he has allowed himself to feel close enough to someone outside of his siblings to even call it that.
At most, this was just an infatuation of sorts, it must be.
Because he just couldn't fathom liking the same girl as his younger brother.
"Nik," Kol releases, as soon as he sees him. "Where have you been?" He wonders, realizing how he hadn't seen his brother for quite a few hours.
Klaus stammers, being uncomfortable with the memory of his biological father and his offer to stay with him. "I had a few errands to run," he nervously says.
Errands? Kol thinks, unable to remember the last time Klaus had been this responsible about his chores.
He observes them both carefully - how well Kol is dressed and how pretty Hayley's dress is. "I take it you both just came back from dinner with mother and father," Klaus concludes.
Kol and Hayley share a look, feeling a bit awkward about the whole situation.
"Yes," Kol nods. "I was just about to ask Hayley how she was feeling about everything," he says, shyly.
Klaus places a finger on his chin, pondering. "That's strangely considerate of you," he realizes just how much his brother is changing in the short amount of time that he's known Hayley.
It's unexpected, but he feels a smidge of jealousy.
"Hayley," Kol goes on, interrupting Klaus' thoughts. The girl looks at him while playing with a strand of her hair. "Did our parents say or do anything to make you uncomfortable?" he asks.
She thinks back to Esther's kindness, how close she felt to her just in the short time she had known her. Hayley shakes her head.
"Really?" Klaus notes, wide-eyed. "That's...surprising," he sighs, turning to his younger brother.
Kol senses an even bigger change, one deep inside himself. "Perhaps," he shrugs. "They've actually taken a liking to her?" he wonders, meeting Klaus' gaze.
The other brother focuses his vision on Hayley - how close she stands next to Kol, how comfortable she seems around him. "Maybe so," Klaus notes. "I suppose stranger things have happened," he softly says, thinking of how easily these two seem to fit together.
And how quickly their charade seemed to have become reality.
-
The beach calls her name - like a love song.
Hayley is restless that night, rolling around in her bed, staring at the ceiling, sweating.
Being human is still strange - it's nice not being alone or exiled by her own kind, being accepted by a lively family, having siblings - sort of anyway. But it's still all so new.
"You're awake," Henrik pops out from under her bed and scares her.
She was so busy being stressed out by her thoughts, she didn't even notice him sneaking in.
"What's wrong? Have a nightmare?" Henrik asks again, as Hayley offers him a nod of the head. He hops into bed with her, looking a little sad. "I have trouble sleeping too, bad dreams are all too common in this house, I'm afraid," he sounds so broken, all of a sudden.
Hayley knows the Mikaelson household is a lot colder than people think - despite their riches, their fame, how close the siblings seem to be, there is still so much loneliness in everyone's eyes.
She appreciates how easily Henrik bonds with her though - she's never had a younger sibling before, though she's always wanted one.
"Henrik," Cami bursts through the open door. "There you are, why are you out of bed?" she sings, joining the two.
Hayley motions for Cami to hop in but patting her hand on the sheets. She slips in beside Henrik, wrapping an arm around him.
"Cami," he whispers, "I didn't know you were still here," he adds.
"Rebekah asked me to spend the night - I'm just staying in her room," she continues. "I came out because I heard all the ruckus this little one was making," she smiles, teasing Henrik.
Hayley appreciates both their warmth - it can be quite scary sleeping in this big room, all by herself.
"I've always found this house so eerily quiet at night, you know?" Cami suddenly says.
Henrik looks at Hayley who also looks a bit scared. "We agree," he grins.
And that's the thing about the Mikaelson mansion, from the outside, it looks like this perfect palace - and once you're inside, you realize it's just feels so haunting.
(The three of them hold hands, walking together towards the balcony. They sit there for a bit, just looking out towards the beach.
"The water looks so calm tonight," Henrik comments.
"It's so strange isn't it?" Cami tells them. "Just the other day, it was raging on like a storm, now it's like a summer sea," she realizes.
Hayley looks there too, remembers her old home - the deep blue ocean, the fishes, the coral and seaweed.
Sometimes, she feels like it never really existed.
"I wonder what it's like," Henrik quips. "Way out there," he exhales, thinking more and more about the vast waters before them.
"I do too," Cami agrees - noticing how disconnected Hayley seems.
Almost as if she's been there before).

xvii: fix the fridge light and replace the phone
-
The sun invades Rebekah's room like an invited guest.
She finds a note on her bed, carefully written.
Such pretty hand-writing, she knows it's Cami's - so delicate and careful. Somehow, it almost makes her angrier about her early departure.
The fact that it's just so beautiful.
(Hey Rebekah, I know I know - you hate me right now but, before you send me an angry text I'll never get, just hear me out. I left something for you under your pillow, it's something I brought back from my last research trip, I hope you think of me when you wear it.
Rebekah holds back her tongue - she knows how important Cami's research is and how much value it has.
She shoves her hand under her pillow and finds a gorgeous piece of seaglass strung across a chain. It's green mixed with a bit of yellow - like Cami's eyes).
"Sister," Klaus walks in to her room with a shiny tray of freshly made pancakes, syrup, whip cream, strawberries and a warm cup of coffee. "I've brought you breakfast," he says, taking weird looks around her room.
Rebekah raises a brow as she takes the hot drink in hand. "What brings about such kindness, dear brother?" she laments.
Klaus keeps avoiding her eyes. "Can't you just thank me?" he offers.
She notices how disappointed he looks and connect the dots quite easily. This food wasn't intentionally made for her, after all. "If you're looking for Hayley," she concludes. "She woke up quite early and already had breakfast with Henrik and Kol," Rebekah tells him, recalling hearing their voices while she was half asleep, shortly after Cami had already left.
"Kol? Waking up early?" Klaus retorts. "I never thought I'd see the day," he huffs, with his hands on his hips.
His sister smiles as she starts digging in to the pancakes. "He's a changed man," she comments."Hmm, these pancakes are to die for, Nik!" She cheers, smiling.
Klaus feels that tinge of jealousy he felt earlier suddenly grow bigger. "Glad you like them," he quietly says, attempting to hide his real emotions.
-
Kol spends more and more time with Hayley.
He doesn't like to think that he's gotten close to her or that, somehow, she gets under his skin - it's just that, he needs to make this whole she's his girlfriend act convincing, you know? Whether that means having meals together, standing a bit closer to her than he usually does, even maybe looking deep into her eyes -
The truth is, he just really likes being around her.
She waves to Henrik as he runs off to play with some other kids he spots by the beach.
"He's very fond of you," Kol observes. "My little brother, I mean, he's usually quite shy around anyone but our family. I suppose you're part of ours now," he babbles on and he almost bites his tongue.
God, what the hell was he saying right now? He sounded like a fool - calling her his family, really? He's only known her for a little over a month!
What was wrong with him?
"Would you like to go for a swim with me?" Kol requests instead, trying to change the subject and how flustered he felt at the moment.
She offers him a bright smile, running head first into the water.
He feels a continuing flutter in his heart as he watches her shiver from the coldness of the water. Right, it was November after all - maybe not the best time for a swim but, she almost seemed like she was weirdly used to it.
Hayley warms up quickly and swishes around the water almost as if it's part of her.
"You're quite the talented swimmer, my darling," Kol compliments, joining her.
The water pushes them closer and closer to each other and his hand instinctively grazes against her cheek - her hair is wet and covering her eyes but, she can see just enough to understand that he's going for it.
He wants to kiss her.
"KOLLLL!!!"
Just then, they hear Henrik's scream.
-
He's afraid of water, Kol whispers, as he and Hayley swim towards him. "I'm such an idiot," he curses himself, swimming quicker. "I should've kept a better eye on him," he shouts, seeing the top of his brother's head peeking out of the waves.
Hayley swims faster than him, getting to Henrik first and lifting him up from his waist. She gives him a look, indicating that he was safe now, she was here, after all.
"Henrik!" Kol scolds, when he catches up to them. "What were you thinking? You know you could've drowned!" he shakes him back and forth, worriedly.
Hayley takes him back to the shore, covering him in a dry towel.
"I'm sorry brother," Henrik replies to Kol. "I just thought I could finally face my fear, ever since the incident that happened to Nik I -"
Kol furrows his brow - he remembers that day too, when Klaus almost drowned to death, how he was saved by some miracle. Or a mermaid, which is what Henrik claims.
He hates how his little brother still blames himself for that incident.
"Do you know how much you scared me?" Kol responds, still with a stressed out tone. Hayley is taken aback, she's never seen Kol like this. "Promise me you'll never go to the water alone, ever again?" He tells him
"But Kol -"
"Promise me!"
Henrik bites his lip, he looks at Hayley who also seemed worried about his well-being. "I-" he starts. "I promise," he finally agrees as a sense of relief washes over Kol's face.
Hayley is touched by how close both the youngest Mikaelson brothers seem to be.
-
-
-
xviii: maybe it will fix us if we spend our lives on country roads
-
Klaus' balcony is filled with his old paintings. He barely uses the space there for anything else but, it does offer him a good view of the beach. He pushes the painting aside, making his way towards the edge. He notices Hayley, Kol and Henrik right away. He keeps an eye on them.
He shouldn't feel this way, he shouldn't be so angry at the fact that they're friends. At the fact that their parents accept them.
At the fact that Mikael would never scold Kol for having a girl but Klaus, he's not even allowed to smile around him.
He feels frightened - Mikael's abuse scares him. He thinks of their fight, of the scar on his cheek, where Hayley had last touched him.
Mikael had mentioned how the scar had disappeared, he wonders how it happened so quickly.
Then.
Klaus' ringtone interrupts his thoughts.
Ansel.
He thinks about his offer once again.
Is leaving truly the best option for him? His family was his everything, he can't imagine living without Elijah's laugh, or Finn's smile, Kol's shenanigans, Rebekah's kindness, Henrik's clinginess, and now, Hayley's warmth -
He puts the idea to rest for now.
He goes back to staring at the beach.

Deals with the Devil- 11
Tumblr media
Author: Amanda Preston
Summary: A need to fill a void and an encounter to start something new, Elijah and Katya never knew that a simple one night stand would wind up into a love affair filled with family drama and side deals gone wrong.
Deals with the Devil Masterlist
“Where’s the fire and how do I put it out?” Marcel greets as he enters the conference room. He was dressed as handsomely as ever and caught a few admiring looks from a few editors as he walked by the cubicles.
Katya couldn’t help but laugh at him having grown accustomed to his dramatic entrances and the lingering stares in his wake.
“I really need to destroy that knight-in-shining-armor mentality you have when it comes to me,” Katya responds. “I think it’s going to your head.”
Marcel just shrugs as he settles down into his seat.
“Where’s D?” he asks as he looks around the vacant room. “Thought she’ll be here.”
“She’s getting her sketchbook,” Katya answers. “I told her she’ll need it.”
“You’re finally getting her off the bench,” Marcel notes with a grin. “That’s good.”
“The girl deserves it,” Katya tells him. “Plan on hiring her the moment she graduates.”
The conversation comes to stop as Davina enters the conference with her tablet and sketchpad. The excitement of the unknown task ahead very evident on her face.
“Ok let’s get started,” Katya states as Davina takes the seat next to Marcel. “I’ve gathered all of you here today because Vikings Co. has decided to dump a very big and important project on MoonStone: Online Publishing.”
“Understood,” Marcel responds. “But why am I here for it?”
“Because I need your networking skills to get me the best of the best when it comes to Web Design,” Katya answers. “I need a web guy.”
“You already have one of those.”
“I have an IT guy which is a completely different playing field,” Katya clarifies. “I need a web expert that has experience from design to coding.”
“Alright,” Marcel acknowledges as he pulls out his blackberry and starts to scroll through it. “I can put out some feelers and see who reaches back.”
“Oh, I… I think I know of someone,” Davina speaks up.
        “Who?” Katya asks.
“He’s a friend,” Davina answers gaining a bit more confidence. “His name is Josh and he used to be the TA in one of my classes.”
        “Used to be?”
Davina’s nerves come back at the question and shrugs.
“I mean… he hacked into our school system and got asked to depart on his own account,” Davina explains. “But I swear, it was for a good reason.”
Katya couldn’t help but share a look with Marcel who just shared her amusement.
        “And what was this reason?”
“A student identified as non-binary but the school refused to change the gender specification on their transcript. Josh did so easily but he got caught.”
“And what is this Josh up to right now?”
“He’s bartending,” Davina states. “But he was just shy away from graduating, at the top of his class too, and I promise he’ll be on his best behavior. That is… if you give him a chance.”
Katya can’t help but share a look with Marcel again. They were both enamored with the headstrong girl and it was hard to resist her request.
“Alright,” Katya gives in. “Let me meet him for myself and if he fits the MoonStone mentality then we’ll go on a week trial to see if he can keep up to our standards.”
Davina tries to calm her excitement but it was evident through her smile.
“Ok, I’ll reach out to him,” Davina answers. “I promise he won’t let you down.”
Katya chuckles at the girl’s promise and nods.
“Onto the next order of business,” Katya states. “I have no idea what the next step for this is so I was hoping someone might clue me in?”
        Marcel chuckles and nods.
“I can do some research on the legal side of online publishing but that’s about it,” Marcel offers. “I could probably start on some patents for the name MoonStone and it’s affiliation with Viking Co. but it seems to me that as long as you don’t have your web engineer, then you’re stuck.”
        Katya sighs and nods.
“Yeah… that was what I was afraid of.”
“I can start making some mock-up designs for the website?” Davina offers up. “I just need some insight as to what direction you want me to take.”
Katya nods at Davina’s offer as her drive returns once more.
“Alright, well… I was thinking we keep to our origins,” Katya states. “Our colors, our logos, our language. This is still MoonStone so we have to represent ourselves online as we are in person.”
Davina takes in the notes and is quick to start sketching out ideas. Katya’s mind roams free as her creativity flows endlessly. Marcel remained silent as he watched two of his close friends glow beautifully as their passions took over them.

The business day was already done but Elijah remained in his office working. Gia had bid him goodbye a while ago but he couldn’t recall how long ago that was. Elijah ignored the glaring clock on his desk and continued to read through his paperwork allowing that to fill up his time and mind.
A soft knock breaks him from his concentration and he looks up to find an unexpected guest.
        “Mother?”
“Hello, son,” she answers as she steps into his office. She looks around the space analyzing the decor and ambiance before her focus returns to Elijah. “Like what you’ve done with the office.”
Elijah finds himself fixing his tie as his mother’s stare landed upon him.
“Thank you,” he answers. “How did you find me here?”
“Oh, I called your assistant,” she states as she takes her seat across from him. “She told me you were still at the office.”
Esther removes her gloves and tucks them into her designer purse. She doesn’t smile nor does she frown as she picks her next words.
“Nice girl, your assistant,” she comments. “Wonder why such a thing would put me on hold all day when I’ve been trying to reach you?”
Elijah refrains from sighing knowing the hidden accusation from his mother’s words.
        “Mother, I…”
“No, need to explain,” Esther cuts him off. “Children grow up. They don’t need their mother’s looking over them.”
Elijah knew there was no excuse he could use to appease her. She would hold this betrayal over his head before she found another source of power.
“What can I do for you?”
Esther takes her time to respond even though Elijah already knew what she was here for. Her eyes stray to the window behind Elijah that illuminated the other buildings around Viking Co. She hums pensively before looking back at him.
Even though they were both seated at equal height, Elijah couldn’t help but feel like he was being looked down upon.
“I assume Niklaus came to speak to you on my behalf,” Esther states. “He came by the house for a quick moment before disappearing again.”
“Yes,” Elijah answers. “He paid me a visit. Told me that something was going on with Kol.”
“That boy,” Esther sighs out. “I’ve done everything I can for him and he remains ungrateful. He’s gotten kicked out of Stanford for selling answer sheets. He did the same thing at UCLA and now he refuses to go to Yale after I made a very impressive donation. I told him I could get him into whatever school he wants but he refuses to go back. I’m at my last wits which is why I need your help.”
“I can try to speak to him…” Elijah starts to offer but his mother is quick to interrupt him.
“Oh, dear, noble Elijah,” his mother responds. “Speaking to him won’t help him much. Kol needs structure. The kind of structure you gained when you came to work with your father when he ran the company. I need you to give him that and perhaps that will stick.”
Elijah was at a loss of words.
Kol was a hurricane of a person. He created disorder wherever he went. There was no stopping him.
A characteristic that came from their very stubborn mother.
“He needs this, Elijah,” his mother pleads.
Those words were the final nails to his coffin as Elijah had no other choice but to agree.
“I’ll take him under my wing,” Elijah reluctantly states.
“Good, I thought you would,” Esther praises as she starts to pick up her things to depart. Now that she had achieved her goal there was no reason for her to stay any longer. She slides her gloves back on and stares down at her son as she rises from her seat.
He looked tired. A little worn out. Too much work and not enough life could do that to you.
A soft gaze crosses her face at the thought but she’s quick to diminish it.
“You work too much,” she comments with a scowl. “Perhaps that’s why Katerina left you. Such a good girl, that one. Very well connected, good genes… Should have tied her down when you had the chance.”
Elijah doesn’t respond not knowing that the truth would only serve as ammunition to his mother to shift or change him into what she wants him to be.
        “We weren’t a good match.”
“Hmm,” Esther hums as she turns to leave. She stops by the door and lets out a sigh. “Gia, your assistant, she’s a pretty one. It’s cliche to marry the secretary, I know, but the girl’s got potential.”
        “Mother…” Elijah sighs out.
“Alright,” she mutters. “I’ll stop… for now.”
The threat lingered in the air as she left leaving Elijah drained at the potential future meddling fro his mother. It didn’t help that his mind was soon occupied to the incoming presence of his brother Kol.
The workday had certainly grown longer in the span of five minutes.

The Paradox - Previously...
991 AD
"Jemima get back here!" The young mother yelled at her second youngest to get back in line. "Come on love, be a lady-" "But I'm only 10; why do I have to-" Short hair obscured her vision, green eyes glaring moodily at the ground in front of her boots. "Because she said so. Listen to your mum Jemmie." Her father ruffled her chestnut hair, smiling kindly. "We've got to show these people that we can live with them and cause no problems, eh?" He leaned down with a twinkle in his eyes, "after they let us in we can be annoying, hmm?" He winked, making his children giggle and his wife lightly cuff him on the arm. "Erik-" The young lady glared playfully at her husband, shaking her head a little. "Mary." He smiles cheekily in return.
"Are we there yet?" A soft voice spoke up from behind the married couple. "Not yet Alley Cat," Edmund Erikson, the eldest of the four children, replied, "but we should be there soon", he added with a soft smile at the youngest of his siblings. Alice Erikson shuffled alongside her parents, the seven year old being the apple of everyone's eye, as she hummed a tune in boredom.
The group arrived abruptly, the site of the town not fifty paces from them seeming daunting. "Here already? We should be another ten minutes or so to my reckoning." Edmund rolled his eyes at his sister. If he continues at the rate he rolls his eyes, they'll fall out of his head. "Don't try to act so smart Jemima Alexandra. Mother and Father took a short cut and we all just followed along." "He's right. This is definitely the place." He looked at her, gratified that one of his sisters wasn't arguing with him. "Thank you Fran," he said, pointedly staring at the youngest twin. "Oh! So she's Fran and I'm Jemima Alexandra?" she huffs, hands on her hips, "and you Francesca Elizabeth Erikson, what happened to twin solidarity?" She pouted. The eldest of the arguing three simply sighed and looked up to the skies and heavens as if asking God 'What did I do to deserve this?'. "Fine Jemima." "I think you mean Jem." "Fine Jem." He rolled his eyes once more, making the younger giggle and run next to her sister, linking their arms. "Honestly that was betrayal." "Was not." "Was too." "Was n-"
"They're funny.", a small voice whispered, a smile slipping on the little girl's face.
Unbeknownst to the new family who were absorbed in each other's conversations, they were being watched from within the town borders, now not twenty paces from them.
A man stood there: tall with cruel eyes and a harsh smile. He scoffed, "yes. Very amusing: children squabbling." "Mikael,", a woman's voice sounded, "they're just children and new to this environment. They were simply arguing as children do. It does not do to scold them in such a manner when we know not their names nor their reason for being here."
The Eriksons looked in the direction of the voices and saw them all standing there, listening to the woman's words.
She was a pretty lady, dressed in the traditional pale green of heretics of England. A witch. Like them.
The couple were surrounded by five children, four boys and a girl.
The eldest was maybe a year older than the eldest Erikson child with the pale eyes of his father and dark hair like the bark of an old tree.
Next to him was a boy roughly the same age as Edmund, a friendly smile on his face as brown eyes welcomed the family from behind a curtain of dark untamed hair. His hand rested on a blond boy's shoulder, a shy smile on his lips as he fiddled with a small lump of what appeared to be wood. His pale eyes glanced over the new people's faces before moving back down to study that which was in hands.
The youngest boy smiled brightly, a mischievous grin spread across his face as dark eyes twinkled at them, a short nod in greeting sent in their direction, brown hair bobbing in the mild breeze of early autumn. He appeared to be around the twins' age.
The youngest, the girl who spoke up earlier, brushed her pale hair from her eyes, a sweet smile dressing her face, her age almost aligning with Alice's.
"Apologies." He spoke up, this time directing himself towards the new family. "How about we start again, hmm?", Mikael spoke. "I am Mikael. This is my wife Esther." He gestured to the witch by his side. "And these are my children: Finn," the eldest, "Elijah," the boy the same age as Ed, "Niklaus," the fair haired boy, "Kol," the child the same age as Jem and Fran, "and Rebekah.", the girl of roughly Alice's age.
The children smiled curiously at each other while further greetings were exchanged between the adults.
Upon realising who the family were, Esther smiled sympathetically. "The travel over from the Angles must not have been easy." Esther said, hugging Mary loosely, "welcome to Mystic Falls."
The children looked at one another and waved hello, Elijah amiably striking up a conversation with Finn and Edmund as Rebekah introduced the girls to herself, Kol and Niklaus. They had a feeling they were going to be fast friends.
1001 AD
They were right. From that day on they were thick as thieves, together through thick and thin for a decade. When anyone received any beatings (more often than not Niklaus) they would comfort each other. When the youngest Mikaelson, Henrik, was born, they all helped to looked after him. When they left their childhoods behind, they all celebrated together. It was how they were and how they wished always to be.
----------
On this particular night, the Erikson twins were sound asleep in their homes, when a scream tore away the silence. They woke with a start, worried beyond compare as they left the hut and set off towards were the noise had come from.
There was already a small crowd gathered, their whispers muffling the loud sobbing coming the centre. They pushed their way through the people and stopped abruptly, the sight knocking the breath from their lungs. Niklaus. He cradled a small body that hung in his arms, still and unmoving. Henrik. A sob escaped them as they held on to each other, stumbling back and bumping into Edmund who was on patrol. The two were covered in crimson, the flames of the torches illumating the true colour of the liquid as the rest laid black on the ground in the moonlight. The Mikaelsons ran past the siblings, mere seconds after their own arrival. Their lips moved and formed words, cries for their fallen one, but Jemima could hear nothing. Silent tears streamed down her face as she held her sobbing sister, for Henrik, the sweetest little boy in all of Mystic Falls, was gone.
----------
Over the next year, Esther had become withdrawn from the loss her child, frequently working till the early hours on a mysterious project the other witches knew only mere elements of, the whole picture becoming no clearer as the days went by. Except one day, everything was perfectly clear. Who were witches to say no such an proposition? If Esther was right, and her equations made perfect sense, they could grant eternal youth along with endowments of strength and speed to whomever they wished. Esther laid down her terms: the spell would be tested on the Erikson children first to ensure it was safe (without the concent of their mother who was to be kept naive about the situation) and then it would be bestowed upon her children and husband. If things went wrong with the Eriksons then her children would remain unscathed and it could all be written off as a tragic accident - if all went well, her family would have an eternity to spend together with those they love.
Things however don't always go exactly to plan.
The spell worked and it was a success - to a degree.
All that was expected occurred and more. All magic comes with a cost and apparently theirs was to be the loss of true humanity. They could no longer walk in the sun or bask in its warmth; some herbs burnt them; a weapon made of the wood from a white oak tree could kill them - immortality it seemed did not also include invulnerability. Worst of all was that in order to survive they would have to feed of the blood of the living. The hunger they felt was indescribable. As if that was not enough, they also looked different should their inhuman tendencies get the better of them. If their blood lust overcame then for even a moment, their eyes because dark, red veins surrounding the eye, with sharp, fang-like canines protruding from their gums. Even that which they were born with they lost - Finn, Kol, Francesca, Jemima and Alice all appeared to lose their ability to do magic.
The town feared them.
They were known as abominations.
Esther turned them into monsters. She turned them into vampires.
----------
Jemima was sat on her bed, avoiding both the sun, upon Rebekah's advise, and the other villagers when a loud knock on the door interrupted her train of thought. Kol's voice rang though the door, "Jemma, I have a gift for you which you will only get once you open this door." She said nothing, only rolled her eyes at his words, thinking back to the last time he had a 'gift'. He bribed her with a sugar sweet only to sling her over his shoulder and throw her in the lake. "Look," he sighed. "You and I both know I can come in whenever I want but, being the benevolent person I am, I will not. Please just open the door." She had kept quiet for long enough. "Why should I? Because you have a gift? The last gift I was given took my humanity from me - from us. We can no longer do magic or have children or walk in the sun or-" He walked in, cutting her off by hugging her tight."Some things are easier to fix than others." They broke from their embrace. "Now," he said, wiping away her tears, "I wasn't lying when I said I had a gift." He produced a ring, set with a sparkling blue stone engraved with the Erikson family crest. "Our rivalry to the sun was fixed by a simple daylight ring - a ring fit with an enchanted stone, the enchantment an adaptation of werewolves' moonlight ring spells." He explained, gently lifting her right hand and slipping the ring onto her finger. "There we go. Fits like a glove." He smiled and pat her hand. "As for the magic - I can't change much on that but maybe you can; you always were different." "You mean wrong." "I mean different." "All I could do was steal magic - I never had any of my own, not truly." A fact she was bitterly reminded of every time she attended her magic classes. "Well therefore you can't lost what you never had and your siphoning is a skill so try it on me. We were reborn by magic so it should work-" Kol babbled on about the details as he did when I came to magic, not noticing her other hand resting upon his. She closed her eyes and took a short breath, the two of them gasping in shock as she slowly siphoned off some of his magic. She lifted her hand into the air and breathed out a quiet spell. All of a sudden a small spark linked at her palm, growing in size and brightness till a ball of fire hovered in the air, its flames dancing in the air before slowly blinking out.
They sat in silence for a moment, in shock of everything. "My brilliant paradox." He smiled but his expression quickly became grave and fearful. "Look we don't have much time now. Father found out Mother had an affair with a werewolf and forced Mother to curse Nik with a suppression of his werewolf side before he killed her. We believe Mikael wishes to kill us too so we are running away from here; to where? - even we don't know. Nik has gone to give Fran her ring and Rebekah to Ed and Elijah to Alice. After saying our goodbyes we are to find Finn and leave for good." "You're all leaving us?" Kol looked at her as if she was insane. "My mother is dead, my father murdered her and is now trying to kill us and that was all that you got? That we're leaving? Woman you need to get your priorities sorted out." he stated, shaking his head at her. Tears sprung to her eyes as she wrung her wrists. "You're my best friend you numbskull, even closer to me than Rebekah believe it or not and I will always be upset when you leave us.", she explained, pulling the boy into a hug, "will you ever return?" "Maybe one day we will however I must leave soon my dear paradox but remember that we'll find you all again someday."
They sat in silence in each other's embrace, tense as they listened for the other Mikaelsons, stealing as much time as they could before the friends would be torn apart.
"Are they really doing a bloody sibling pact without two of their siblings-?" Kol muttered humorously, his eyes however tired and hurt. "Is that Eli?" Jem mumbled back, trying to discern whose voice it was. "With Niklaus and Rebekah," he confirmed sitting up properly. "I can hear them calling for me: I've got to go now. Goodbye Jemmie." he said, kissing her forehead before leaving her home and Mystic Fall with the rest of her family for around a millennium.

Belle was relieved when she could return to work, and made her way to the hospital with a lightness in her step that she hadn’t felt in days.  Even the weather seemed to be celebrating her newfound freedom, the winter sun shining brightly on the snow, ice crystals glittering on the boughs of trees and the top of the park fence.  She greeted Mary Margaret cheerfully as she entered the locker room, shrugging out of her coat and shoving it with her bag into an empty locker.
“How are you feeling?” asked Mary Margaret.  “You look pale.”
“I’m okay,” said Belle, turning to face her.  “A little tired, that’s all.  Glad to be back at work.”
“Hmm.”  Mary Margaret looked amused.  “Even with the impending naked photo shoot?  I heard you agreed to do it too.”
Belle pulled a face, but couldn’t hide her grin.
“Dorothy called me yesterday,” she confessed.  “I don’t mind - it sounds like a bit of fun.  You’re in too, right?”
“I’m in,” said Mary Margaret, blushing a little.  “I just hope none of the school kids see the finished product.  I’m counting on the townsfolk to hide their innocent eyes.”
Belle grinned.
“So, do we have a full dozen victims?” she asked, smoothing her skirt, and Mary Margaret nodded as they turned to head for the ward.
“Six girls and six guys,” she confirmed.  “Literally no one was shocked that Doctors Whale and Milliner stepped up.  Dr Gold was a surprise, though.”
Belle stumbled, arms flying out to keep her balance.
“Dr Gold?” she said.  “He’s doing it?”
“I couldn’t believe it either,” said Mary Margaret.  “He’s always buttoned up to the neck.  I guess you just never know what someone’s really like underneath it all, huh?”
Belle thought that she knew exactly what he was like, down the last inch, but she elected not to say anything.  They rounded the corner and went into the long term ward, where Mary Margaret picked up a tray and began collecting empty water jugs from patients’ nightstands.  Belle left her to it, crossing the ward to where her little mobile library cart was stashed beside the waste bins.  She wondered if anyone had been doing the rounds in her absence, or if the patients had missed out on reading material.
Once she had made the rounds of the long term patients, she pushed the cart out of the ward, almost running into Dorothy, who swerved to avoid her.
“Sorry,” said Belle.  “I should slow down, I’m just excited to be back.”
“Well, it’s good to see you on your feet again,” said Dorothy cheerfully.  “We could use all the help we can get.”
“Just let me know where you need me,” said Belle.  “I was going to do the library rounds but I’m free after that.”
“We need supplies in the kids’ ward,” said Dorothy.  “I’ll get you the list, if you can swing by on your way around.”
“Sure thing.”
Dorothy nodded, and put her head to the side with a tiny grin.
“So, the photo shoot,” she said.  “Jefferson says the photographers are coming tomorrow.  I vote we go for drinks at the Rabbit Hole afterwards.  You in?”
“Sounds good,” said Belle.  “Who are the photographers?  Someone local?”
Dorothy shook her head.
“Couple of Jefferson’s friends from New York,” she said.  “Apparently they’re big time - do a lot of work for Vogue.  Nice of them to do him a favour.”
“Well, now I’m even more interested to see what the finished product looks like,” remarked Belle.  “Is there a theme or anything?”
“Other than ‘hospital staff strip off their clothes and their dignity for cold hard cash’, not that I know of,” said Dorothy, with a grin, and Belle giggled.
The tap of a cane made her look around, and she felt her heart thump as Dr Gold came into view, his hair brushing his cheekbones, his eyes a little tired.  Belle beamed at him as he approached, and he nodded to her.
“Miss French,” he said.  “I trust you’re feeling better?”
Belle gave him a flat look.
“If you start Miss French-ing me again, I’ll have to revert to calling you Dr Gold,” she teased.
“Well, we are in a hospital,” he said, a little stiffly.  “Given my professional status, perhaps that would be best.”
Belle felt as though a cup full of cold water had been thrown over her.  He wasn’t quite meeting her eyes, fingers twitching on the cane handle, and Dorothy was frowning at him.  She tried again.
“You must be enjoying having the house to yourself,” she said.  “Although if you ever want someone to kick your arse at cards again, feel free to give me a call.”
She grinned at him, and he looked away, off down the corridor.
“I’m enjoying the peace and quiet,” he said.  “No doubt you’re pleased to be back in your own bed.  As am I.”
“Right,” she said, feeling awkward, and Gold sighed.
“If you’ll excuse me, Miss French, I have a busy schedule,” he said.  “I’m glad you made a full recovery.”
He set off down the corridor with his limping stride, and Belle chewed her lip, sharing an awkward glance with Dorothy before pushing her cart on down to the children’s ward.  It seemed the close friendship they had been nurturing had taken a strange turn.
Gold was almost to the next ward when Dorothy caught up with him, swerving to stand in front of him and blocking his path.
“What the hell was that?” she demanded.
“What the hell was what?”
“Could you have been any more rude and dismissive?” she asked.  “I thought you two were friends!”
“How was I rude?”
Dorothy put her hands on her hips.
“What, so telling her she has to call you Dr Gold and you’re glad she’s no longer in your house wasn’t rude?”
“I told her I was glad she’d recovered!” he said, aggrieved, and she puffed out her chest, raising her chin.
“’My dear Miss French’”, she said, in a ridiculously deep and somewhat plummy voice. “’I’m delighted both that you didn’t die and that you’re no longer bothering me with your foolish chattering’. That’s how you sounded!”
“I did not!”
“You know, the next time you talk to someone you like, I’m just gonna record a video of their face going through the five stages of grief and show it to you.”
“She didn’t do that!” snapped Gold, and blinked.  “Wait, what do you mean ‘like’?”
Dorothy leaned forward, fixing him with a beady eye.
“You like her,” she whispered.  “Don’t you dare try to tell me you don’t, because you’ll be a lying liar who lies!”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” he growled, and strode off.  She trotted at his heels like an insistent terrier.
“Don’t walk away from me, you know I’m right.”
“I don’t know any such thing!” he snapped.  “And I’ll thank you to keep your nose out of my personal affairs.”
“Oh believe me, if you had any personal affairs going on, I’d be more than happy to mind my own business.”
“Then do so.”
“Can’t do that.”  She slipped in front of him again.  “Look, just ask her out.  I bet she’d say yes.  One date.”
“I don’t date,” he said stiffly.
“Since when?”
“Since forever,” he said, and she straightened up, looking surprised.
“Oh,” she said.  “Not ever?”
“No.”
Dorothy looked awkward.
“Oh,” she said again.  “I didn’t realise you weren’t attracted to people that way.  Guess I read you wrong.  Sorry, dude, my bad.”
Gold grimaced.
“It’s not that,” he said, his voice cool.  “When I say forever, I just mean - I mean not for decades.  It has nothing to do with attraction.  It’s a personal choice, and frankly it’s none of your business.”
“Yeah, sure,” she said, stepping back so he could pass her.  “Sorry.  I’ll - I’ll butt out.”
“That would be wonderful, thank you,” he said, in a dry tone.  “Perhaps we might get on with some work.  I believe I have a photo shoot tomorrow, and given that I’m dying inside just thinking about it, I’d prefer to get around as many of the patients as we can.”
Dorothy snorted in amusement, falling into step beside him as he walked on.
“Okay, you win,” she said.  “I’ll stop teasing you.  For, like, at least a day.”
x
Gold couldn’t recall why he had agreed to be photographed naked, and was convinced that he had still been sick at the time and that Jefferson had taken advantage.  There was no other reason for him to be standing in the corridor outside one of the operating theatres, which was thankfully not in need of use, along with four other men from the hospital staff.  Jefferson and Whale were looking positively gleeful, Leroy appeared his usual grumpy self, hands shoved in his pocket and a woollen hat pulled down over his head, and Dr Hopper, the psychiatrist who ran a clinic in the hospital every Thursday, had an expression on his face that suggested he was facing a painful death.  Gold could understand how he felt.
The doors to the operating theatre swung open, and two women swept into the corridor, arms folded as they looked the little party over.  One had rich brown skin and shining dark hair worked into elaborate curls with gold highlights, a cream silk blouse above loose brown slacks. The other was pale and thin, her white-blonde hair cut into a bob that fell to her jaw.  She wore tight black leather pants and a white silk vest, and her red lips curved upwards at the sight of them.
“The first victims,” she purred.  “Jefferson, darling, how the devil are you?”
She stepped forward, kissing Jefferson on both cheeks.
“Thanks for agreeing to do this, Ella,” he said.  “I owe you one.”
“Oh, Ursula and I simply had to come,” she said, waving a hand.  “Shocking the residents of small towns always was our thing, you know.”
“Hey, I thought there were supposed to be six of you,” said Ursula.  “We need a Mr February.”
There was a patter of feet further down the hall, and Graham, one of the nurses, came hurtling into view, skidding to a halt as he reached them.  His firm chest heaved beneath his dark blue scrubs, perfect stubble setting off a handsome face.
“Sorry I’m late,” he gasped, and Ella and Ursula looked him over with approval.
“Oh, I think we can forgive a couple of minutes,” said Ursula.  “Why don’t you go first?”
They put their hands on his shoulders, steering him towards the double doors, and Graham glanced at the others with a faint look of panic in his eyes.
“Great,” grumbled Leroy.  “I’m supposed to follow the guy that looks like an underwear model?  The camera’ll break.”
“I don’t think any of us is expecting to come out of this with our dignity intact,” said Gold, in a very dry tone.
“Just smile for the camera and suck in your gut,” said Jefferson helpfully, and Leroy glared at him.
“Hey, this is muscle!” he snapped, patting his midriff.
Gold sighed, exchanging a glance with Archie and shaking his head.  Why the hell had he agreed to do this?
x
The photo shoot went reasonably quickly, considering, but Gold was made to wait until last.  He was growing steadily more irritated as each man came out and a name was called other than his.  When Jefferson came out, with a grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye, Ursula stuck her head around the door and beckoned to Archie, which made Gold sigh. Great.  So I’m Mr December. Bloody feels like it, too.
“This calendar is gonna be an artistic masterpiece,” announced Jefferson, spreading his arms.  “You should have seen me, Gold! Tall and stoic - and almost impossibly handsome - gazing off into the distance as though I had just come up with the miracle cure for all ailments!  Dr Milliner, a modern day god, walking upon the earth so that mere mortals can—”
“Yes, alright,” interrupted Gold.  “I’m sure the camera shattered into pieces rather than be forced to take a picture of anyone else.  How much longer are they going to be?”
“Not long, keep your pants on,” said Jefferson.  “Or not, I guess.”
He waggled his eyebrows, and Gold rolled his eyes.
“I don’t know why I let you talk me into this.”
“Because I’m a good friend and you’re a good sport,” said Jefferson.  “You want me to come in with you?”
“No,” sighed Gold.  “I’ll be fine.  Is it just us?  Dorothy said she was posing, too.”
“Yeah, the women should be turning up any minute,” said Jefferson. “Speaking of, I’d better get back to work. Try not to kill them with how awesome you are, okay?”
“I’ll try not to give them nightmares,” muttered Gold, and Jefferson chuckled and clapped him on the shoulder before heading off down the corridor.
By the time Archie Hopper came out, looking a little shell-shocked, Gold was beginning to lose patience.
“How did it go?” he asked Archie, who blinked at him from behind silver-rimmed glasses.
“I was reclining on a couch with an arm behind my head and a copy of Psychiatric Times over my genitals,” he said, with a pained expression. “Please don’t ever speak of it again.”
He hurried off, straightening his jacket, and Gold couldn’t help grinning.  The sound of the double doors behind him made him turn, and Ursula was smirking at him.
“Well, if it isn’t Mr December,” she said.  “Come on in.”
“At least let’s make it Dr December,” he said dryly, and strode forwards as though he was going to his doom.
The inside of the operating theatre had been transformed.  The equipment was still there, including the table and instruments, but there was also a couch, as Archie had mentioned, a radiography film viewer, a IV stand complete with a bag of saline, and large amounts of photographic equipment. The woman called Ella looked up from her camera, pursing her lips as he walked in.  Music was playing from a stereo to her left, and Gold really wished they hadn’t elected to play You Sexy Thing.  He felt anything but.
“Right,” said Ella briskly.  “Let’s have a look at you, then.”
She straightened up, dusting off her hands and stepping closer.  She over-topped him by several inches, and she took his chin in between cool fingers, turning his head this way and that.
“Excellent bone structure,” she mused.  “Great hair.  I can definitely work with this.”
“You think people are going to be looking at my hair?” he asked, in a wry tone, and she released his chin and stepped back.
“Well, that’s really up to you,” she said.  “Take off those scrubs, let’s see what you’re hiding.”
“Nothing of any interest, I assure you.”
“I’ll be the judge of that, darling,” she said.  “We’re here to make you look as delicious as possible.  Just do as you’re told and it’ll all be over soon.”
Her matter-of-fact tone and air of brisk efficiency made him feel oddly at ease. He supposed that as photographers, they saw bodies all the time. Much as he did, as a doctor.  He was simply a tool, a piece of material they used to create their art. It made it far easier to shed his clothes, and pretty soon he was naked, wriggling his toes on the cold floor as they stared at him with folded arms as though he were an interesting museum exhibit.
“So, you’re a doctor, right?” said Ursula.  “Do me a favour and loop that stethoscope around your neck.  You can use that clipboard to cover yourself if it makes you more comfortable.”
Gold obeyed, holding the clipboard over his groin, and she leaned in close, frowning slightly as she studied his face.
“I think we need a warmer filter,” she said to Ella.
“Agreed,” came the response.  “Something a little more golden.  Give me a second.”
“The pose is wrong, too,” said Ursula.  “Is there any position you’d prefer, Dr December?”
“I’d prefer it if no one could see my face, does that count?”
She chuckled.
“Oh, we can manage that,” she said, and turned her finger in a circle.  “Spin it around.”
Gold turned, putting his back to them, and heard a sharp intake of breath from Ella.
“Now that,” she announced.  “Is definitely something I can use.  Turn ever so slightly to your right, Doctor.”
“Oh yes,” said Ursula approvingly.  “Raise the chart - there!”
Gold could hear the clicking of the camera from behind him, so he stood as still as he could, the clipboard with its chart held up in front of him, as though he were checking someone’s vitals.  Naked. He supposed it wasn’t too bad, really. If cold.
“If you could raise your left arm?” asked Ella.  “Just run your fingers through your hair and breathe in.”
He obeyed, feeling a slight stretch on his left side, his back arching a little as he sucked in a breath, and he heard a sound from the both of them that was almost a purr.
“That’s perfect, darling,” drawled Ella, and the camera clicked and whirred.
They asked for a couple more poses, instructing him to turn slightly, bend a little, or raise the chart in his hands.  He was starting to get cold, and he was relieved when they announced from behind him that they were done.
“Marvellous, darling,” said Ella.  “I think you’ll like the finished product.”
“I won’t exactly be making it into my official Christmas card,” he remarked, wriggling back into his scrubs.
“Oh, you may not,” she said slyly.  “But I have a feeling many a woman with a doctor kink will be getting hot and bothered this Christmas.”
Gold closed his eyes with a pained expression as he shrugged on his lab coat.
“I didn’t need that mental image, thank you.”
“Well, you’ll be happy to know you’re free to go,” said Ursula.  “Tell Jefferson he owes us a drink, and we’re coming to collect when we’re done.”
“I’m sure he’ll be delighted,” said Gold, and bowed his head.  “Ladies.”
They sent him almost identical grins, and he sighed to himself and headed for the door, pushing it open and stopping dead.  Six women were staring at him, most of them grinning. Dorothy was in front, and sent him a wink, but behind her were Astrid, Alice, Zelena Mills, Mary Margaret Blanchard, and - to his horror - Belle.  She was staring at him with wide eyes, and he wanted to sigh. Well, Jefferson did say everyone…
“Hey Dr Gold,” said Alice, winking at him.  “Sorry we missed the show. If you want to give us a sneak preview I’m sure there’s time…”
“I think not,” he said severely, and she giggled.
“I’m just teasing,” she said.  “You’re not my type. I mean you’re really not my type.”
“I’m delighted to hear it,” he said.  “If you’ll excuse me.”
He could feel their eyes on him as he walked off.
“Well,” he heard Zelena say, in a satisfied tone of voice.  “Guess who’s pre-ordering twelve copies of this thing?”

It was safe to say that y/n had barely got an hour of sleep that night. Partially because of her issue with the entire Mikaelson family, partially because in the room next to hers she could hear Damon’s entire evening with one of them, Rebekah.
It was such a bad night that when the light first began to hum through the edges of her curtain, y/n was already dressed and sitting at her desk. She had a pen flicking back and forth across her fingers, she had described everything that had happened the night before into her journal and had even drawn out some of the images that had come into her mind.
Soon, she couldn’t bear the four walls of her room anymore and walked down into the living room to find Stephan with his nose in a book.
“Couldn’t sleep?” Y/n asked already pouring herself a drink, well that didn’t take long.
“Hmm,” Stefan said not looking up from his book, “I actually slept quite well. After so many years living with Damon, you learn to just block it out.” He turned the page.
“I wasn’t so lucky. I think I’ll pick up some ear muffs today,” Y/n took a sip, “I still can’t believe he brought home Rebekah.”
“Wait,” Stefan’s book snapped shut, “The girl in his room is Rebekah?” Y/n grinned and nodded, “God,” Stefan muttered under his breath.
“It’s just his self-destructive tendencies,” Y/n sighed collapsing onto the couch next to Stefan, leaning her head against his shoulder as she drank.
“How many times can we use that as an excuse?” Stefan opened his book back up, “Did I tell you he tried to go after Kol last night.”
“Kol?”
“The Mikaelson’s little brother,”
“Ugh,” Y/n squeezed her eyes tight, she had just forgotten about that family.
“What’s your plan?” Stefan asked, his eyes still scanning the words on the paper in front of him.
“I have no idea,” Y/n sighed after a moment, “But, I do know that I’m not backing out. I mean it all makes sense. First, I hear their names and they feel so familiar, then I meet them last night and…I just would be stupid to ignore how I felt then and I was thinking, they’re originals…they could compel me to forget,” Stefan’s eyes drifted from his book to the fire.
“That’s…true,” Stefan pondered. Silence settled between the two of them for a couple of minutes before, “But what could have happened that was so bad that you had to have your memories taken away?”
“I don’t know,” Y/n sighed, “But whatever it is. I deserve to know, I have the right to know.” It was at this moment that two figures floated gracefully down the stairs, even if their appearances were not.
“Let’s not make a big deal of this,” Rebekah’s relaxed hum echoed into the room, both Stefan and y/n’s heads shifted over to the door where they were headed, Damon wearing nothing but a sheet around his waist.
“My thoughts exactly,” Damon smiled at her before spotting y/n and Stefan on the couch, “You two look cosy.” These words caused Rebekah to spin around, clearly ready to defend herself to whoever was sitting there, but one of the people who were, caused her to freeze.
“Y/n?” Rebekah’s voice sounded slightly strangled, a sudden anger swelled thick and fast within y/n. She was simply so sick of there being so much God damn evidence that the Mikaelson family knew her and yet she still had no idea how she knew them or any of her memories back.
“Do I know you?” Y/n basically growled through gritted teeth, surprising herself.
“I um…” Rebekah shifted her weight from foot to foot, clearly uncomfortable, “I’m leaving.” She said after a moment and Damon simply nodded behind her, opening the door to a ready to knock Elena.
“I think we should leave,” Stefan whispered quickly into y/n’s ear.
“Aww, and miss all the drama,” Stefan simply gave a y/n a look before standing quickly and heading upstairs. Ugh, sometimes that boy is too moral. Y/n clearly became a fly in the water as Damon and Elena began to argue, Elena, talking about how Rebekah tried to kill her less than 48 hours ago and Damon telling her that last night had nothing to do with her. Y/n was just nearly getting bored when Elena said something that had everything y/n was interested in.
“You should know…that I basically just signed all of their death sentences – Including Elijah!”
“Why do you care about Elijah?” Damon snappily responded.
“What’s this about Elijah?” Y/n emerged from the shadows of the couch giving Elena a small fright.
“Oh God, y/n, you’re here,” Elena sighed, one hand over her heart.
“Yeah I…kind of live here now.” Y/n glanced between the two of her friends quickly before continuing, “What’s this about Elijah.”
“Well,” Elena looked at Damon, “Last night, Esther Mikaelson used my blood to link all five of the original children as one. The reason for that being, she wants to kill all of them.”
“But…”
“Well, if something happens to one of them, it happens to all. So, if one of them dies…”
“They all die.” Damon finished off.
“Oh,” Y/n sighed heavily, this was the last thing she needed right now, “So what are we going to do to stop that?”
“Do?” Damon’s brows jumped up his face, “We are not going to do anything. All of them dying is a good thing, remember?”
“Damon, I still don’t know about my relationship with them.” Y/n moved closer to him, “Look, I’m not asking for you to help keep all of them alive forever I could never ask that of you. I’m just asking for one of them, either Elijah or Klaus.”
“I vote Elijah,” Elena said from behind.
“Y/n,” Damon’s voice was like shattered glass, “You’re not going to be able to care about your past if you’re dead. Having all the originals wiped out is a blessing and I refuse to stop such a mighty act of karma. Besides, your past is not my problem, but killing the originals, is.”
Silence sat thick and heavy in the room, and after a few minutes Elena turned around to leave, y/n quickly following.
“Hey, where are you two going?” Damon called after them.
“We’re going to go do a good thing,” Elena’s voice rang out. Y/n stopped briefly at the door and looked over her shoulder.
“But don’t worry,” Y/n said, “It’s not your problem.”
“Like Damon was proud of himself for sleeping with her,” Elena sighed at the end of her bed, “Is it working?” She glanced down at where Bonnie was focusing on a pot of sage.
“Nope,” Caroline came in, her blonde hair bouncing as she moved, “Look, I don’t think you should worry as much as you do about Damon, he’s clearly not worth it.”
“Caroline’s right,” Y/n popped up from Elena’s desk where she was flicking through a teen magazine, “Damon sleeping with Rebekah is just him acting out as he always does. It’s his self-destructive tendencies. He’s had it ever since Katherine, probably giving her – or himself – a reason why his love was not enough.”
“How do you know so much about Damon?” Caroline’s brows furrowed.
“Like I said,” Y/n smiled at her, “I was his best friend for a while, I helped him through his shit and Lexi helped Stefan through his. Lexi and I were kind of like a weird vampire version of Fairly Odd Parents.”
“You knew Lexi?” Elena asked, perching on the end of the bed.
“Yeah,” Y/n smiled sadly, “She’s amazing, isn’t she? When I heard she died and…how I nearly came to Mystic Falls and beat up Damon myself.”
“Why didn’t you?” Caroline asked, amused.
“I was busy in northern England,”
“Doing what?” Y/n glanced up.
“It’s a really…long story.” The three girls glanced between themselves.
“We’ve got time.”
“Wait, wait, wait,” Caroline spoke through a mouth full of popcorn, “So if last night, Klaus felt like a lover to you does that mean that you two have had sex?”
“I don’t know,” Y/n grimaced, sucking on a salty uncooked kernel, “But God I hope not, not after all the shit he’s done.”
“Understandable,” Bonnie nodded. There was a pause, and Bonnie shifted awkwardly on the bed, glancing between her friends.
“Look you guys should know,” Bonnie began, “Esther came to see me and Abby this morning,”
“What?” Elena exclaimed.
“Yeah…the rituals happening tonight.”
“What?” Elena exclaimed again, “But Elijah…”
“I know,” Bonnie said, clearly not that bothered about him.
“Look, I know this is going to sound crazy,” Elena said looking between her friends, “But I can’t let him die…it just doesn’t feel right.”
“I know,” Caroline sighed, “But if it means we can kill Klaus…”
No one responded. Y/n knew at that moment that the majority of people in this town would think that killing Elijah was a small price to pay if it also meant that Klaus was dead. If only she could get her memories back before their bodies turned.
Y/n was laying on her bed, a playlist of songs she didn’t recognise echoing through her room. The images and ideas and questions that were whirring around her head had given her a headache a few hours ago that somehow was still pounding.
“Y/n, darling!” Damon’s voice drifted up the stairs calling her back to reality. Furrowing her brows slightly at Damon calling her ‘darling’ y/n rolled off her bed, brushing down her clothes before heading downstairs.
“What do you need now-” Y/n began asking as she moved down the steps, but when she reached the bottom she found a sight that she definitely didn’t expect. Damon and Stefan looked as though they were having some sort of standoff with none other than Elijah Mikaelson. Y/n opened her mouth to say something but found that there was something stuck in her throat.
“Y/n why don’t you put on that short, little red dress I like so much?” Damon’s eyes were fully fixed on Elijah watching for his reaction. Elijah kept his eyes on y/n and y/n was looking at Damon, like some kind of triangle of intense staring.
“And…why Damon, would I do that?” Y/n found her voice and proceeded to watch carefully as Damon smirked at Elijah before turning to her, giving her a knowing look.
“Because…I’m going to need a distraction.”
It was less than 10 minutes later and y/n had pulled on the red dress, a long dark coat and her favourite classic pair of Louis Vuitton heels.
“So, what’s the plan again?” Y/n asked as she headed for the door.
“Look, all you need to know is that Klaus and Kol have been spotted by Rick at the Mystic Grill, and what I need you and Caroline to go do is distract them.”
“Okay,” Y/n flicked her hair out from her coat, “Just keep me updated on anything you need me to do okay? I want to help.”
“Yeah, I know, I know…just go distract for now.” Damon smiled, practically pushing her out the door.
“Oh, don’t worry, I plan to do a lot more than that.”
“Y/n!” Caroline’s sweet voice called out over the mild chatter from inside the Mystic Grill.
“Caroline,” Y/n smiled broadly, running up to the girl and giving her a quick hug, “Damn girl,” Y/n grinned looking Caroline up and down, “Klaus is going to lose his shit.”
“Oh, I’m counting on it.” Caroline smiled as her breath made a small cloud in the cold night’s air, curling her arm around y/n’s elbow, “Come on, let’s go and be distracting.”
Walking into the bar the first person y/n noticed was Rick who was currently talking on the phone, and by the sound of it, he was talking to Damon. The plan was, Caroline would distract Klaus and take him outside whilst y/n remained inside and finally got to have a little chat with Kol Mikaelson.
“Is that the girl from last night?” She heard what must be Kol saying from across the room, “On the arm of…wait…no,”
“Oh yeah,” Klaus murmured, “She’s back in town.”
“Does Elijah know?” The two were talking so quietly it was almost impossible to hear, but the name ‘Elijah’ recently stuck out like a sore thumb in any and all conversations. Taking off her jacket, y/n chucked it onto the coat rack before following Caroline up the stairs towards the bar.
“Caroline!” Klaus called out excitedly, “Can I buy you a drink?”
“Hmm, I’d rather die of thirst,” She responded lightning quick before turning on her heels and striding confidently out of the bar. Klaus glanced at his brother before standing and quickly chasing after the beautiful blonde but not before pausing in front of y/n. He looked as though he was going to say something, but the thought passed and soon he was on his way.
“Aren’t you going to go after her?” Kol said after a moment, a boyish grin stretched across his cheeks.
“I think she can just about handle herself, don’t you?” Y/n smiled softly at the man, it was strange, he didn’t scream any immediate memories. Leaning over the bar y/n ordered a drink, tonight, she would start investigating.
“Oh, come on!” Kol laughed.
“No!” Y/n grinned back.
“Let me buy you one drink, that’s all I ask.”
“I’ll let you buy me one drink if you can remember my friend’s name, the blonde one who walked in with me.” Y/n smiled mischievously, she’d hate to admit but she was actually having a really nice time.
“Oh, come on,” Kol groaned, but he was still smiling.
“Hey, I’ve mentioned her at least 5 times. It’s not my fault you don’t listen.”
“I listen!” Kol exclaimed before ordering himself a drink.
“Prove it,” Y/n took a sip of her bourbon.
“I know your name is y/n l/n that you were born in y/h/t and you used to be a flower girl, you have a brother named Alex and you were born in 1111.” Y/n felt her muscles tighten, her glass resting on her lip. Alex’s brows furrowed as he watched y/n’s stiff actions, “Did I overstep my boundaries?”
“No, it’s um,” Y/n felt like smiling but she pulled herself together, “Well you see Kol Mikaelson, I never told you when I was born, yes I told you I am a vampire but not when I was born. Also, I never knew that I was a flower girl…or that I even had a brother.” She watched as Kol’s face turned from playful to emotionless, it was like watching a coin flip, “Now, tell me, how could you know that? Unless you…knew me, 900 years ago?”
“Hmm,” Kol chuckled under his breath, pulling his coat back on, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” In a flash, y/n had pinned his hand onto the bar, sure he was stronger, but she had his attention.
“Look, I know you know me, in fact, I know your whole family knows me. So why don’t we just cut the crap and stop playing this game where you all think I’m a complete idiot.” Kol looked down at her hand before looking straight into her eyes, all the playfulness gone.
“I’m not the one you should be having this conversation with y/n.”
“Oh, really?” Y/n cocked her head to the side, “And why’s that.”
“Because y/n,” He smiled softly, “It wasn’t me who you fell in love with.”
Something about that sentence just tugged on y/n’s final straw. Quickly, and whilst no one was looking, y/n grabbed a fistful of Kol’s hair at the back of his head and smashed his head straight through the bar, bringing the top half of his body down where y/n’s other hand had a certain dagger dipped in ash of the white oak tree was waiting to put him to rest. She pushed it through his heart and watched as the skin at the back of his neck turned grey and veiny.
Sighing heavily, she brought the ‘dead’ body up and leant it over the bar twisting around to check that no one noticed, thankfully everyone nearby probably thought that the smash had come from somewhere behind the counter. She quickly gave Rick and his date the thumbs up before turning back around. Glancing over she noticed Kol’s fresh drink left untouched.
“Um, bartender?” She smiled broadly at the cute man behind the bar, he immediately smiled back and leant in a little closer to her. That’s the thing about vampires, they have a small but powerful attraction to their prey, kind of like a magnetic booby trap. “Is this drink pre-paid?” She said sweetly.
“Um, yeah,” It seems as though the bar-tender just noticed Kol, slumped over and motionless.
“Nothing to worry about here,” She quickly said into his eyes and immediately his smile grew, and he moved away.
“Well…Kol.” She reached over and picked up the drink and took a sip, “Looks like you’ll be buying me a drink after all.”
It was a few minutes later and y/n and Rick were dragging the body of Kol Mikaelson into the back alley with Rick’s new girlfriend and Damon looking on.
“Thanks, y/n, nice work,” Damon swiftly gave y/n a high five after she dropped the body.
“Ahh, I think it’s you who I should be thanking,” Y/n bent down and looked right at the lifeless eyes of the boy she had been laughing with literally 5 minutes ago, “For walking right into my trap.”
Damon was just going to respond when something flashed by, swiftly pulling the dagger out of Kol’s chest and taking out both Rick and his girlfriend. When it came to a standstill it was obviously Klaus, an angry Klaus.
“I should have killed you months ago,” Klaus glowered at Damon before turning to y/n, “And as for you…”
“Oh, come on Klaus, you wouldn’t hurt an old friend, would you?” Klaus just squinted his eyes and cocked his head.
“You don’t remember.” He said knowingly, a glowering smile pulling at his lips.
“Remember?” Y/n felt a smile slowly creep on her face, “Who said anything about forgetting? But thanks...for confirming my suspicions, and trust me, after the enlightening chat I just had with your brother, you’ll be hearing from me soon.”
Shortly after that, Klaus disappeared with Kol and then, Damon disappeared. Y/n was aware that she wasn’t fully in on whatever plan Damon and Stefan had, and she didn’t expect to be. She still had some way to go to be back in the position of trust she was in with them so many years ago. So, she made sure that Rick and his girlfriend got home safely before she herself went back to the Salvatore mansion.
Still in her dress and heels, she rapidly wrote down everything she figured out that night, words flowing from her pen like blood from a wound.
But soon she found herself stuck thinking of the way that Elijah had looked at her tonight, his face trademark emotionless but his eyes, his eyes bled grief and pain and punishment. Following the thought of Elijah, she heard what Kol had said before ringing in her ears ‘it wasn’t me who you loved’.
So she had loved him. Or maybe she had loved Klaus. Or maybe she was a lot more like her old friend Katherine than she had ever thought.

Rumors - part 19
~  RUMORS MASTERLIST ~
I woke up and looked at my phone to see if Kol called me but he didn’t. Then I went to the bathroom and after that I came down stairs yelling Rebekah’s name, but instead of her I saw Kol in the living room.
 - Hey, there you are; “I told him”.
 - Hey darling; “Kol said and looked at me”.
 - I sit next to him and ask; Where did you go after you left school yesterday?
 - Sorry about that, I was too much angry to be around you; “Kol said”.
 - I know how to handle that; “I said smiling”.
 - I didn’t want to risk it. I came here but you were sleeping and I didn’t want to wake you up so I just stayed here; “Kol said”.
 - I’m just glad you are okay; “I said and walked to the kitchen for a blood bag”.
 - Why were you yelling Rebekah’s name? “Kol asked”.
 - I sit next to him, cuddling myself into him and saying; She snapped my neck last night. Are we now free of all these stuff with Silas and cure, since you killed Shane?
 - Why? No. They still have a hunter that has a map to the cure; “Kol said”.
 - I wanted to kill Elena; “I said”.
 - Don’t worry darling, you don’t need to do anything. I’m going to fix this; “Kol said”.
 - Just don’t do something stupid, please; “I said”.
 - I never do stupid things; “Kol said”.
 - I laugh and say; Yeah, right.
 - Do you know who the hunter is? “Kol asked”.
 - No. Who? “I asked”.
 - Jeremy Gilbert; “Kol said”.
 - Of course; I said not surprised and added; Everything needs to involve that family.
 - I know it’s not surprising at all that he is a hunter, when his sister needs a cure; “Kol said”.
 - You know what you forgot to do today? “I asked”.
 - What? “Kol asked”.
 - You forgot to kiss me; “I said crossing my arms”.
 - Kol smiled at me and said; Maybe you didn’t deserve it.
 - I turn my head to him fast and say; Wha-; but he cut me off with a kiss, it was soft and sensual that sent shivers and goosebumps all over my body. He wrapped his hands around my waist and I felt him pulling me closer to him. But soon he broke the kiss and I put my head on his shoulder.
 - Uh, what’s up with you today? “I asked him pushing myself against his chest so I can look at him better”.
 - I just have a lot on my mind now; “Kol said”.
 - Because of the Silas? “I asked”.
 - Yes; Kol said and added; If they wake up Silas he will want to destroy the other side.
 - Why would he do that? “I asked”.
 - The witch who made Silas immortal also created the Other side so he can’t be reunited with the woman he loves; “Kol said”.
 - Well that’s cruel; “I said”.
 - Sorry darling but I need to go now; “Kol said, then he stand up and started walking out of the living room”.
 - What? Where? “I said and rush to stand in front of him”.
 - I have some business to do; “Kol said trying to get me out of his way”.
 - Why you just don’t let them have it; “I said before he walked out of the door”.
 - Because if they want cure, they need to free Silas and I can’t allow that; Kol said and added; Some things are better left buried.
Tumblr media
 - Before he walked away I said; Let me help.
 - I can’t let you do that; “Kol said”.
 - Well I want to do that; “I said and started to walk towards him”.
 - You can’t help me and don’t try to stop me; “Kol compelled me and give me one quick kiss”.
 - I can’t believe you just compelled me; “I yelled”.
 - Sorry darling, but that’s for the best; “Kol said and vamp speed to who knows where”.
 - Go to hell; “I yelled after him”.
I went back to the living room a little angry and fall back onto the couch, taking the remote and nervously pounded on it while I was flipping though channels.
I was alone for maybe one and a half hour, then someone came knocking at my door. I opened them and see Elena there.
 - Just the girl I’ve wanted to find last night. I guess this is my lucky day; “I said and pulled her inside, then shut the door”.
 - Before I grabbed her neck Elena said; Wait! I need your help.
 - What do you want? “I asked annoyed, rolling my eyes”.
 - I need you to stop Kol; “Elena said”.
 - From doing what? “I asked”.
 - From trying to kill Damon and Jeremy; “Elena said”.
 - And why do you think he would listen to me; I said added; Especially because I would love to help him with that.
 - Well I thought; Before she could say another word I told her; Well you thought wrong, I can’t help you.
 - Why didn’t you go with him if you want to help him? “Elena asked”.
 - Because I can’t, stop annoying me; “I said”.
 - Did he compelled you? “Elena asked”.
 - You’re really getting on my nerves and I’m going to rip your throat out; “I said, but before I did Elena vamp speed from the house and I slammed the door angry”.
After some time I heard that Rebekah came home and I said; Why the hell did you snapped my neck?
 - You wanted to kill all those people; “Rebekah said”.
 - That was just the way of trying to find Elena; I said and added; Actually she was here like an hour ago.
 - What did you do to her? “Rebekah asked”.
 - Unfortunately nothing, she run away before I could do anything, but I’m sure Kol will; “I said”.
 - Where is he? “Rebekah asked”.
 - He went to kill Damon and Jeremy, maybe he already did; “I said”.
 - Oh my God. How the days are passing by I’m realizing how much you two are alike; “Rebekah said”.
 - So what? Maybe he is right about all those stuff about Silas. Do you really want someone who is much more powerful than you to walk on this Earth? I asked and Rebekah was silent so I said; That’s what I thought; then I started going towards the door and Rebekah asked; Where are you going now?
 - I’m just going for a walk, try not to snap my neck again; “I said and left”.
The night was beautiful, sky was a deep mysterious blue and there weren’t any clouds so I could see the stars. I was walking for half an hour, then I heard something, so I stopped and turned around but nobody was there, when I turned back to the front again, Kol was there and I jumped one step back and said; Kol, don’t scare me like that.
 - Sorry darling; “Kol said smiling”.
 - How long have you been following me? “I asked”.
 - For a couple of minutes; “Kol said”.
 - Did you kill Damon and Jeremy? “I asked when we started walking”.
 - How do you know I was with them? “Kol asked”.
 - Well Elena came to house, so she can ask me to tell you to stop whatever you were doing; “I said”.
 - But you didn’t stop me; “Kol said”.
 - Yeah, because you compelled me not to; I said and asked; So what happened?
 - True. I compelled Damon to kill Jeremy; “Kol said”.
 - Isn’t it easier for you to kill him? “I asked”.
 - Then I would have to deal with the hunter’s curse and I don’t want to be haunted for the next century; “Kol said”.
 - I didn’t know that; “I said”.
 - It doesn’t matter, I’ll rip off Jeremy’s arms, if Damon doesn’t kill him; Kol said and added; Why are you not in the mood?
 - Do you really need an answer to that question; “I said”.
 - Are you mad at me? “Kol asked”.
 - To be honest I’m. Do you remember when you said how you would rather kill people with me, then keep me out of it? “I said”.
 - I remember, but-; Kol said but I cut him off saying; But nothing, don’t give me a crap how it’s better to do that alone, this time. And you compelled me. I though I don’t need to drink vervain, but apparently I’ll need to start using it.
 - You don’t need to start using it, I won’t do it again; “Kol said”.
 - Yeah, right. I’m not sure I believe you; “I said”.
 - Oh come on, darling. I didn’t wanted you to be in danger; “Kol said”.
 - I’m in danger my whole life and I survived; “I said”.
 - And I’m like nine hundred years older than you, so you’re going to listen to me; “Kol said”.
 - I let out a laugh, saying; Are you serious right now? and I looked at him, seeing serious look on his face, then I said unbelievable; Oh my God. You are.
 - I can’t let anyone to hurt you; “Kol said”.
 - Well it’s too late for that. You hurt me; “I said”.
 - Then he stood in front of me to stop me from walking and said; Okay. I want to make up for compelling you.
  - And how are you planning on doing that? “I asked”.
 - Tomorrow night, I’ll pick you up around ten, so we can go and have some dinner, movie or whatever you want; “Kol said”.
 - I was thinking for a couple of seconds before I said; Oh, it better be good.
 - After the date, I’ll finish what I started the other day, is that good enough? “Kol whispered into my ear”.
 - We’ll see if it’ll be good enough; “I said”.
 - Oh, come on darling; Kol said putting his hand around my shoulder and pulling me closer to him, then adding; I know you think it’ll be good enough, there is no need to pretend.
 - I laugh and say; You're full of confidence.
  - No I’m not; “Kol said”.
 - Yes you are; “I said”.
 - Do you want me to prove it to you that it’ll be enough, right here, right now? “Kol asked”.
 - Hmm, no. I can wait; “I said”.
 - Oh, I see what you’re doing, trying to resist me, like you said you’ll try; “Kol said smiling”.
 - I didn’t say I’ll try, I said I’ll do it; I said and added; Don’t change words I said.
 - Well that’s how I heard it; “Kol said still smiling”.
 - Well then, you should have listened more carefully; “I said”.
Then the next thing I know he pinned me against the tree and he was inches away staring right into my eyes. He furrowed his eyebrows, opened his mouth to talk, but instead he smiled and his gaze moved from my eyes to my mouth, as he looked back into my eyes he slowly tucked my hair behind my ear and moved his hand gently down to my neck, I felt goosebumps all over my body and closed my eyes for a couple of second, while his other hand was wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer and I couldn’t go anywhere because he caged me to that tree with every inch of his body. Then I opened my eyes just to see him looking at me and smiling and leaned closer whispering to my ear; Can you resist me now?
 - I smiled and said; Yes; even if I didn’t think that, but I’ll try to make it happen.
The tension was growing with his every exhale, that I felt against my skin. Then he dragged his mouth across my throat, kissing me with unexpected tenderness. Before I could try to push him away he crushed his lips against mine, kissing me with a hunger. I moaned against his mouth and he smiled, then grabbed my leg pulling it up to his waist, I came back to reality and somehow gain the strength to pull back. Kol realized my leg, looked at me, smiled and said; As you wish, darling.
The next moment he was gone, I rolled my eyes, smiled and decided to go back home. Then I went to my room and while I was brushing my teeth I decided to take a bath. I couldn’t remember when was the last time I had a bubble bath, so I decided to pour the Vanilla scented bubble bath into the stream of water. As the bubbles formed in the tub, a nice light Vanilla scent filled the room. The water felt good to my body as I lower myself into it, I make myself comfortable and I took a nice long hot bubble bath.
When I got out I went back to my room and I put on my clothes for sleep. Then I got in the bed and laid on one side of my body, closed my eyes and relaxed myself, wanting to fall asleep. About 30 minutes later as I almost fall asleep I heard that someone came in the room and lay next to me.
 - Are you sleeping? “I heard Kol say and kiss my shoulder”.
 - Not anymore; “I said and turn around to see him”.
Then Kol took off his jacket and got under the covers, laid on one side of his body turned towards me and kissed my forehead.
 - I though I won’t see you today again; “I said”.
 - Well darling, I can’t let you sleep alone again, can I? “Kol said”.
 - I guess you can’t; “I said”.
 - But maybe I should after you rejected me; “Kol said and laid on his back.”
 - I look at him, laugh and say; I'm just returning the same thing you did to me. Oh wait, you did worse than rejecting me.
 - Oh, we are still on that compelling thing? “Kol said”.
 - Yes; “I said”.
 - Just forgive me I know you want to; “Kol said”.
 - You didn’t deserved forgiveness; “I said”.
Then he laughs and pulls me closer to him and my chest came in contact with his, he kissed me lightly on the lips, when we broke the kiss I opened my eyes slowly and saw him staring at me with those brown eyes. Then I put my head on his chest and my leg over his and he put his free hand around my waist. I smiled and fell asleep on his chest as soon as my eyes closed.

The season finale has ended and still there was no scene where Marcel finds out about Davina... Seriously? First I thought that maybe they will let him know, like “off screen” y’know? And then I saw this pic:
Tumblr media
... and I thought “Hmm, a conversation maybe? Still shitty writing but at least there’s a way to fix it” ... aaaand they cut it out. Seriously @TOwriters - how in the hell can you screw up one of your MAJOR and MOST IMPORTANT arcs that’s been going on since s1, like that?! HOW? I mean, what was the point of showing his grief, making him suffer in s3? So he could get his revenge that didn’t even work out? What was the point of this whole monologue by her grave in 4x08? Why making him say “she was like a DAUGHTER to me” TWICE? Why do all of that when instead of making this beautiful relationship justice, you decided to forget about it, ignore it and put it in the trash like it never even existed. And what for? For not one, but TWO romantic plotpoints that felt a little unnecessary at this stage of events? It’s been always said - this show is about family. I get it - the Mikaelsons are the main focus, but the way Marcel and Davina’s relationship was shown in s1 and later on made them EQUALS to the Mikaelson family. They became AS MUCH IMPORTANT. You used to remember that. But, as Marcel says in 3x20 “Anybody who’s not your family, is NOTHING to you” - that was probably the motto of s4 writing team for at least the second half of the season. Marcel and Davina are the main reason I even watch this show. I came for the Mikaelsons, I stayed for the Gerards. This relationship is something beautiful, exciting, heartwarming but also heartbreaking, different. It has proven the concept of a family in a way that hasn’t been shown before. It showed the meaning of unconditional love and lengths you would go for your child’s safety and happiness. They will always be in my heart, no matter how this show will screw with them. And I will fight for them till my last breath. There, I said it. So now, as i finished my rant, excuse me while I go sit in the corner and try to lighten my mood by imagining that things went as the should have went, that they had their reunion, and later that Kol DID the right thing, and before propsing to Davina he went to Marcel for a blessing (and he got it), and that the wedding happened in New Orleans, in a church that was her home, that Marcel walked her down to the altar, he and Kol shook hands on it, and there was this beautiful wedding party and Marcel and Davina danced their “Father-Daughter Dance” to “Daddy’s Little Girl” by The Shires.... and everyting was perfect. (please, can someone write a fanfic based on that? I’ll be forever grateful) Oh, and BTW, to those who will be attending San Diego Comic Con in July... Ask Michael Narducci about it at TO panel, ok? Ask him, why they did what they did? We deserve an EXPLANATION, dammit!
