thinking about knuckles having a special relationship with chao. likeee, he lives on angel island by himself, literally growing up there all alone, so chao were probably present in his life since he was a little baby… which makes me wanna imagine that knuckles has been adopted by the chao upon angel island. I MEAN- THEY’VE SEEN HIM GROW UP!! he’s apart of their lives just as much as the chao are apart of his. why WOULDN’T the chao, who’ve watched this guy grow and consistently watch over them and their shared home, see him as a part of their family?

i also wanna imagine that that makes knuckles super protective of them as well. we’ve already seen before that he tries his best to comfort them when they’re upset, as well as trying to help them in any ways that he can, so why wouldn’t he also be ready to protect them whenever they needed him? being protective is kinda what he does!

whichhhh brings me back to the chao thinking of him as someone trustworthy that they can run to for help. he could be apart of their chao family!!!!!! like that one really big guy that they adopted at some point and love very dearly. AAAGGHH it’s so canon to me
