MY FAVOURITE COTTON YARNS

⠀ Let’s finish the week with a cotton yarn review. I guess that summer is the best period for cotton yarns and I have prepared the list of my favorite ones. I use that frequently in my spring/summer designs. Here they are.⠀

✔️ Sesia «Cablè 5». It’s a perfect Italian yarn I use it in my summer projects. It’s a strongly twisted cotton thread which has 215 m./235 yds. per 50 g. Because of its fineness I don’t use it much – only for summer top designs, both for adults and babies. It has a huge color palette and I like it much too! Sometimes, I have difficulties with color shadow choice – they’re all amazing! There is only one defect - its price. I can’t say that it’s very expensive, but I would say that it’s higher than average one. Recommended needles: 2.0-2.5 mm (UK/US 0-1.5).

✔️Sesia «Sesia Baby». Another cotton yarn of Sesia Manufattura fabric. It’s softer than the first one and has 178 m./ 194 yds. per 50 g. I used it much for my baby clothes that I made for him when he was little. It’s very soft and breathiness – perfect for spring/summer seasons. The color palette is big enough, so you can find the color you’ll like.  As the first one its price isn’t low, so I prefer to use cheaper analogies when it’s possible. Recommended needles: 2.5-3.0 mm (UK/US 1.5-2.5).

✔️Drops «Safran». It’s a very good cotton yarn. Its characteristics are similar to the previous one (160 m./ 175 yds. per 50 g.), but the price is lower. Sometimes Garnstudio DROPS makes yarn sales and you can buy it at VERY ATTRACTIVE price! It’s soft and body-pleasing. I used it in the dress pattern “Lotus flower”. Its color palette is big, but sometimes I can’t find the color shadow I need. I would recommend this yarn for summer projects. Recommended needles: 3.0 mm (UK/US 2.5).

✔️ Schachenmayer «Catania».  This yarn is my favorite one! I use this cotton yarn (125 m./137 yds. per 50 g.) in 80% of my spring designs. It’s soft, has a very big color palette, not expensive and has a high quality. I never faced any problems with it! So, it’s strongly recommended for spring knitting projects. Recommended needles: 2.5-3.5 mm (UK/US 1.5-4.0).

✔️Lana Grossa «Cotone». I opened this yarn (125 m./ 137 yds. per 50 g.) for myself last month and it became one of my favorite ones. It’s goodly stranded, soft  and has a huge color palette. There are not only solid colors, but blended and mélange ones. Its price is very attractive as well. I have already started to use it for my future design, soon you’ll see it. I strongly recommend it for your spring/summer projects. Recommended needles: 2.5-3.5 mm (UK/US 1.5-4.0).

Obviously, I use other cotton yarns in my designs, but I would recommend only those 5 ones. What is your favorite one? Share it with others in comments, please.
