Reposting in light of the much needed discussion surrounding # race, #privilege, #inclusion, and #representation in the #knitting community. I’m going to take part. Will you? #Repost @norichanknits with @get_repost ・・・ The discussion of representation of POC has taken over much of the knitting community IG feed, in recent times. This is an important and, frankly, overdue discussion. . Awareness and acknowledgement of the issue is the first step, but how do we further this? . Yes, please follow more POC so that they will be seen, vocalize your support for them, and then follow through on your pledges. I have seen a lot of people have decided to read wonderful books and workbooks to spark changes. This is fantastic and I was mulling over how this could become sustainable and actually be extended into the long term. Enter: #knitharder . Some of you may be familiar with #readharder which is a challenge to get you to find and read more diverse authors. I would like to try to bring that idea into the crafting world. . Similar to #makenine and Read Harder, I am challenging you to spend the next year creating things that you love, but perhaps finding creators that you may have been unaware of. Or maybe aware of, but never got around to making their pattern or using their yarn. . I hope you join me to Knit Harder this year. I'll be using the tags #knitharder and #knitharder2019.
