Virg's words to the kids ahead of the FA cup tie against Southampton (28.02.24) (transcript under the cut)
Help each other, push each other. We stick together, no matter what happens, boys. Go for it, enjoy it, be brave, full of confidence, in everything we do. We defend together, we attack together. You ready? Let’s go.
God, today's FA Cup match...some of these players were supposed to be called up for the FA YOUTH Cup. That's how young they are. And the starting lineup sheet had me rolling because most of it was shirt numbers that were incredibly high. And @atlasblue85 kept track of the average age of the squad and it kept going down during the match lmao. Surely we must have set some sort of record for the youngest average age of a squad?
And I would say I can't believe we won except that's a lie because as decimated of a team we are right now (the injury list is literally a team's entire starting 11 and part of a bench. How is this even possible?! Has there even been a time when so many players were out injured?), as much as no one knew who to call up—because...really, who isn't injured?—after the Carabao Cup, I had confidence in the boys. I felt like we would win and well, even if we didn't, I felt like they'd play in a way that would make us proud.
What I can't believe is that we won with three goals! And a clean sheet! There was a brace! The kids are saving us, and their confidence is going to surge and grow more unassailable from this run of matches and the fact that they did this both at home and away (at Wembley, no less), both of which cause nerves in different ways. And that this was for a cup competition, not just any old PL match although that's stressful too because we want to win the league this year. That plus the experience are going to move along their development at a great pace and we have so much to look forward to in the coming years. The kids are all right!
The Kids Are Alright!! Liverpool's Carabao Cup win is a testament to Klopp's faith in youth.. Jurgen Klopp's cup-winning kids: Who are Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns, Conor Bradley, James McConnell & Jarell Quansah?
dad trent, maybe like lap of honour, last home game with toddlers
Dad Trent has my heart🤭
You have 3 beautiful kids, your oldest Elijah who’s 6, your middle Cameron who’s 4, and your youngest ellah who’s 2. It was the last match which Liverpool had won, you were holding your son’s hand while Trent was carrying ellah. Trent had always been a great dad and he would always admit he was glad to have a daughter. He loves his sons, but he’s always wanted a girl but he will never have favorites(or maybe) after the lap of honor. He hands you ellah and grabs a ball and starts playing with his sons. You couldn’t ask for a better father to your children. Trent was sad about klopp leaving but being with his kids always made him happy he wouldn’t deny that. Soon you put ellah down and she went to join her brother chasing her dad around with a ball with her smile and giggling, before her uncle Ibou picked her up and tickled her and put her down.

What he (Thomas) did at the World Cup, people don't talk about it. They don't talk about it, but they should talk about it. He plays the game the right way: he defends, he attacks, he controls the ball when he has to control it, he reverses when he has to reverse it. When he has to finish, he'll finish.
He doesn't do stepovers, but when he has to perform, he performs. He does what the game asks him to do
-Thierry Henry
I’m too big a Thomas Müller fan!
Thomas was the player who had the most impact on a squad in my career. He was the second coach. Or sometimes the first coach when the coach didn’t know what to do.
-Mario Gomez
Thomas is an absolute leader. He gives you the feeling that you can relax and laugh sometimes, even when things weren’t going so well on the pitch.
-Niclas Füllkrug
As a coach, I would always put him in the team. No matter how many minutes he plays, he always does something with it. That’s Thomas. I always really enjoyed playing with him because he has a high football IQ. Eye contact was enough for us to know what action was coming next
-Miroslav Klose
Thomas is an outstanding footballer and a guy that doesn’t exist a second time. Nobody else in professional football is like Thomas
-Jamal Musiala
He is incredibly efficient and incredibly clever for football. His movements sometimes look a bit rustic, but are so often so incredibly correct and almost ingenious
-Jürgen Klopp
For me, no player embodies German football as much as Müller does,Thomas is important for the image of this team. He's won so many titles at the highest level, brings with him a huge wealth of experience, can lead his fellows, and is always a positive guy
-Franck Ribery
A dream. Thomas Müller is a dream.
-Uli Hoeneß
It's great to see the number 13 worn by another Müller. He's a good kid, he can play on the right and on the left, he can shoot with his right or left foot. He's like me
-Gerd Müller
Thomas Müller is unique. What he has achieved in football so far is a magnificent, admirable lifetime achievement. And once he steps off the big football stage, I will miss him. When he plays, Thomas is always an eye-catcher. There will never be another player like him: Just as there will be no more Franz Beckenbauer or Gerd Müller, there will be no more Thomas Müller.
