tbh, not that swsh doesnt have a ton of issues still (im not defending the poor animations or the crunch the devs were under, those elements SHOULD be better) but i think going into swsh with a better mindset has really helped my perception of it. when it first came out, i had just finished rejuvenation v12, so i was used to a snappier presentation, and i dont think i was ready to go back to vanilla pokemon just yet.

OHO 👀 glad you noticed that lil detail. klara's plan was originally to stay on earth for a year or two so she can get more experience in her field of work before returning to her planet. plus, the position pays well. she didn't really expect to end up getting attached to earth and the people that live there. what makes things a bit difficult is that her family is still living on her home planet.

it's definitely something that stands in the way pre-relationship (not the main thing, but a contributing factor). but at the moment i kinda tentatively HC that gin and klara get together post-silver soul. mostly cause im not sure if gin would be willing to be in a relationship before that point (dude has so much going on internally). doesn't stop me from imagining them in a relationship in the middle of the series whoops. i could go on another tangent about that.

anyways, i feel like once that's sorted out, klara is already at the point where shes confident that she wants to stay on earth, so she'd probably a) try to convince her family to move to Earth ("i can take care of you 🥺 you'll live comfortably!") or b) visit her home planet every couple of months.

it's a little silly, but whenever i hear song and hear an influence of the other artist in it and then watch the interview and the singer confirms the influence i had in mind i feel so giddy. it's usually the very obvious ones too, but i'm still like "yay i was right about my fave being inspired by my other fave". ain't the joy of creativity and inspiration beautiful?

Gosh, this scene was so utterly heart wrenching.

The genuine excitement and joy in Kara's voice when she meets Kal El for the first time just hammers in the fact that she (Like Kal) is tired of being alone.

She finally managed to find her cousin and she catches him at the absolute worst time. And because she didn't call Kal by his birth name, Clark just assumes that she was just a random fan, so he lets her down easy to go check up on Lois. Being completely oblivious to the fact that she's his cousin.

It should also be noted that Klara wasn't sent by Brainiac to find Kal El, she came to Earth on her own after receiving Kal's message.

Yes, one could argue that it's another scene that falls into the "Misunderstanding leads to a bigger conflict" trope, but when you consider where Kara and Kal are emotionally during this point in the series, it makes a lot of sense narrative wise.

Man, this show's writing is phenomenal.

Comic-con Tom is back!

Quick recap: Tom showed up in a fit we've seen before cuz that's just who he is (and I respect that). Host was giving kind of a weird energy ('she's asking if you'd like to be punished'???), but okay, no harm done and we don't have to shit on random dudes.

He got asked some of the same questions from earlier cons and some new ones. In summary: Sandman s2 is halfway through filming, the helmet is real and you can see through the eyes, eternal waking is a worse punishment than eternal sleeping, he loved doing Sea Wall, he likes dark Belgian chocolate, he got into acting through Punk Rock, his main inspiration in portraying Dream was the the novels (rather than something external to them), a fav scene to act was the dinner table scene with all siblings in upcoming s2, he'd like to be Destiny so he can live alone in a garden and read, main characteristic of s1 Dream was Dream finding his connection to humanity, fav line is I Am Hope, he's excited to watch Dead Boy Detectives, embodying Dream had its challenges, little to no CGI was used in creating the other versions of Morpheus (iykyk), he tried meeting Morpheus in his dreams, working with Neil was wonderful, he wants to work with great creators (people 'cleverer than him' as he always puts it), he's done a lot of dark roles and if it's happening this many times, he guesses there must be a kinship between those and his personal self (mmhmmm?), for filming he wakes up/starts for the studio around 4 a.m. and starts giving shots around 9 a.m.- time between that is hair+makeup and getting into character, and last and definitely the least, he got asked to do the Dream voice yet AGAIN (please don't do this, people).

Current obsession: solavellan yeah but im feeling it start to slip. i need something new and i think i will be able to come back to it with a fresh mind and some distance from VG and be able to enjoy it in a more ... emotionally detached way. right now my enjoyment in solavellan is so wrapped up in my disappointment with VG that they are hard to disentangle. im hoping asoiaf will awaken something within me

Kinda random, but could you do some bed sharing with Klara?

Klara:

-Klara needs to sleep in a very specific position each night to sleep. This can change night to night, and she expects you to work around that position, if you encroach on that position she will get annoyed.

-If you are a blanket thief, you better believe she will be pulling them back from you the second she gets cold. To the point where if you try to steal them back, she will wake you up and tell you to get another blanket.

-She has like 40 (no not really that many but still) pillows on her bed. She needs at least four of them to sleep comfortably at night, you are free to do what you like with the rest. But if you throw them off the bed, you have to put them back there. (It's like a big ploy to get you to make the bed every morning so she doesn't have to.)

-No pokemon in the bed. Absolutely not. No food either. If you get crumbs in her sheets she's going to be so mad.

-She gives me vibes that she needs the room incredibly cold to sleep comfortably. No she will not budge on this, get another blanket if you're cold.

Hey, keep this on the down low, but… ya got any Venipede care tips?? I just got one to take care of and it’s been through some rough shit lately. i’m good with bugs. just wanna know any specifics. Thanks plenty in advance 🐛.

as someone who's only ever had to take care of a Venipede I got a lot to say so ima put it under a read more

👏 ok so the most important thing right off the bat is identifying its ability. that may sound kinda random but this determines how careful you need to be. if it's poison point, you need gloves to do just about anything but if it's any other ability then you're a-okay to pet it and stuff

they're omnivores but they have a preference for meat, so give it a high protein diet with some berries as a treat

venipede are a lot faster than they look if you didn't know that already so make sure to keep a good eye on it if it's prone to trouble, also they can climb really well so if you do lose track of it and you're looking for it don't forget to look up

if you're playing with it, do stuff that has it moving around a lot - going on walks/runs and playing fetch are both pretty good options (klara likes it when I roll her down the hallway like a bowling ball and she runs back, we call it venipede bowling)

try not to touch the antenna on the head, they're feelers and are very sensitive

venipede and sizzlipede fight on sight, keep the two away from each other

be careful of evolution, this bug gets big fast

and last but not least prepare yourself to witness the most insane zoomies you've seen in your life

ok this might be wild, but...consider....klara and sachan odd friendship? rivalry?

she might have beef with her in typical gntm fashion, yes, but she gets along with o🇹ae and 🇹sukuyo despite thinking they're romantically interested in gin (except in tsukki's case, she's actually in love with him. tae's case is a bit vague iirc). plus, in spite of her weird interests/tendencies, it's kinda implied that she's actually pretty socially awkward and her first appearance reveals that she has a decent sense of justice, so they might be able to get along in their own weird little way (ex: klara keeps stopping by the cosplay cafe sachan works at cause she likes their curry, but they end up bickering over some random shit).
