WIP ASK ME GAME
I was tagged by @wordsofhoneydew and @itsmaybitheway. Thank you so much for thinking of me! Sorry for the delay - it took me longer than usual to think of descriptions of all the WIP I've got in the works 😂
So here are some Klaine and RWRB fics I'm working on that anyone can feel free to ask me about if you'd like:)
A long WIP list can be found under the break!
Partially published WIP:
(Klaine) If I Can Make Your Heart My Home - (Klaine Reverse Bang 2023) Life in New York City and working in the restaurant industry wasn’t exactly what Kurt Hummel had expected it would be. He’s lonely, stressed out and miserable. He’s almost ready to throw in the towel and return home to Ohio when a chance meeting with a musician in Central Park changes everything. (Warning: an angsty rollercoaster of a ride. Soooo many cameos from Glee characters! 😉)
(Klaine) Falling For You -(Klaine Secret Santa 2023 - NOW COMPLETE AS OF 4/16/24) - Successful doctor, Blaine Anderson has his hands full heading up the pediatric wing of Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in NY City. Life with that job and his precocious 6 year old daughter certainly keeps him on his toes - so much so that he thinks he can avoid dealing with the hole left in his life from the death of his husband. Little does he know that falling in love is on the horizon, quite literally, when he meets a florist by the name of Kurt Hummel. (Kid!fic with a bit of angst but a happy ending)
(RWRB) Puppy Love - (RWRB NYE gift exchange 2023) The cold snowy day that Henry Fox discovers an abandoned beagle puppy in an alley brings handsome, flirty veterinarian, Alex Claremont-Diaz into his life. Alex is a single dad, recently moved to NY with his young son who Henry hasn't met yet - or so Alex thought. (Fluffy kid!fic)
(Klaine) Sanctuary - (Klaine Word Scramble 2023) Crown Prince Blaine has stumbled into a secluded glade, trying to escape the horrors of the bloody war his father had brought upon their kingdom. Mourning his beloved older brother and faced with the burden of taking his place in the kingdom, Blaine yearns for a place to hid from the world to deal with the issues weighing on his heavy heart. He encounters a mysterious elf, the guardian of the magical spring that Blaine has mistakenly defiled, whose growing connection to his life the young prince can't ignore. (Inspired by an idea/ artwork by @datshitrandom and @justgleekout)
Not published yet WIP :
(these are in various states of readiness: some outlined, some partially written, some still in the brainstorming/research phase)
(RWRB) I approach, and I withdraw (tentative title) - Historical fic - Alejandro Diaz was still a boy when he followed his father into the thick of the fight for Mexico's independence. A series of unfortunate events, however, led him and his family to flee his home and to adopt new identities for their own safety. Years later, after he finds himself well ensconced in his new life as an attaché to the office of the new American ambassador to England, Alexander Claremont soon finds his past catching up to him. (Inspired by these historical paintings by @stormtrooperjeff17004 as well as artwork from @artofobsession seen here and here.)
(RWRB) Shaken, Not Stirred (Spy!AU) - CIA Officer Alex Claremont Diaz is not new to working on joint operations with other foreign agencies. He does it often and he does it well, which is why his superior, Zahra Bankston, never hesitates to assign them to him. What he wasn't expecting that morning was to be put on a new assignment with his least favorite MI6 operative, Henry Fox - and that they had to use being a newly married couple as their cover to get the job done. (Inspired by this drawing by @noodles-and-tea )
(Klaine) Cuffed (a D/s and soulmate story and prequel to my first ever fic, Trick or Treat) - - Musician Blaine Anderson has always been lonely sub, yearning for a place to belong and someone to belong to. Kurt Hummel is the an overworked and high in demand designer - a Dom with no time to sit and relax and focus on what his needs are. When an old friend hires Kurt to revamp his new club, Kurt's life becomes intertwined with Blaine's in a way neither of them could ignore.
(Klaine) Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie (Day 2 /Bikini - Klaine Advent 2023/ PWP) - A casual little fashion critique while the boys are on a well needed vacation, leads to a little outdoor fun. (Set in my Trick or Treat AU)
(RWRB) how ardently i admire and love you (online auction!AU) - Alex is desperate to find the perfect birthday gift for Henry, and eventually finds himself in an online bidding war for the one unique item that he knows his boyfriend would just adore.
(Klaine) I Know You Wanna Take Me Home (tentative title) (Klaine Valentines Challenge 2024/Pretty Woman!AU) Well established business man, Kurt Hummel never thought he could find anyone of substance among the escorts at Dalton House. But after being convinced to visit the upscale club by his friend, Kurt's mind is quickly changed once he sets his eyes on a beautiful boy in a gilded cage who was up for auction that night.
(Klaine) Untitled Klaine fic (Klaine Advent 2022) - Set in my Klaine superhero AU - Under The Cover of Darkness) Blaine decides to go home with Kurt for the holidays and doesn't make the best first impression with Kurt's parents.
(Klaine) Untitled Klaine fic (Feudal Japan!AU) - based off of novel The Tokaido Road - On a personal mission to avenge the murder of his father, Kurt travels the Tokaido , braving its dangers and interesting characters on the way. As the son of a nobleman, Kurt travels in disguise, unaware that the person who sanctioned his father's murderer has also sent Blaine, a talented and deadly ronin, to find and kill Kurt as well.
(RWRB)- the phantom touch of your hand (tentative title) - (Fantasy/cursed tattoo fic!AU) Two young swordsmen are determined to vanquish a sorcerer who has laid a tragic curse on them both. The problem is, the curse keeps them from being together at the same time, doomed to travel alone, one by day, the other by night - the only reminder of the other being the cursed tattoo burned into their skin.
(Klaine) - Untitled Klaine fic (While You were Sleeping!AU) - Kurt Hummel always wanted to live in NYC - his dreams were to be on Broadway. Being on the Broadway stage that is. Not working on the corner of Broadway and 44th in one of those coffee/food carts parked out on the street. Things for him change the day that Cooper Anderson, Kurt's gorgeous repeat customer whom he secretly fantasizes about, nearly gets hit by a bus. After following him to the hospital, Kurt gets mistaken for being his crush's fiancee which should have been his dream come true - until he meets Cooper's sweet down to earth brother, Blaine.
(Sebklaine) Let you put your hands on me (PWP College threesome) - heavily influenced by "one of those movies" - wink, wink . . - Kurt's frustrated ( in more ways than one) and his good friends Blaine and Sebastian find a way to help him out.
(Klaine/RWRB) - Untitled fic (Scheherazade/ 1001 Arabian Nights !AU) - A lone traveler gets captured by a band of sex slavers in the desert. After being subjected to the horrors of slavery, the young man gets rescued by a desert prince in disguise, chosen to be his sole consort. Every evening, the consort tells his prince a story for him amusement. - planning a series of probably shorts all in the same style. Maybe it'll be a collection to do with other writers? Not sure yet. Might alternate with either Henry/Alex being the Prince and Consort and Blaine/Kurt being the characters in the bedtime tales or vice versa. Or maybe create 2 OC to be the Prince/Consort and have the other four boys be the characters in the shorter stories. I'm assuming it would be alot of mature/explicit shorts - but wouldn't mind a mix of other ratings in between as well.
Tagging ( only if they want to play): @myheartalivewrites, @clottedcreamfudge, @hkvoyage, @kirakiwiwrites, @gleefulpoppet,

okay but on the topic of glee fandom, since we seemed to be in different parts of that fandom (I was more on the femslash side) what was the craziest glee fandom drama that you personally witnessed
Part of me just wanted to say "Canniblaine" as a one word answer. But like the real answer is that it was never NOT crazy, honestly. But if I had to answer......well, let's talk about s2 in a nutshell.
(Don't worry, Canniblaine will be explained).
So, in summer of 2010, Puckurt (my beloved) was the most popular Kurt ship on ff.net, the fics then were all sweet and fun and normally had a lot of just pure Glee bonding. And Kurt fans were excited since Ryan Murphy promised repeatedly that Kurt would get a jock boyfriend and the two of them would be crowned Prom King and King. Eventually, Jane Lynch said in some interview that they casted a blond boy to play a kid named Sam who would be Kurt's love interest. I can't remember for sure if she was also the one who confirmed that there would be a love triangle with him, Kurt, and Quinn.
But RIB—Ryan, Ian, and Brad, the original and only screenwriters until s3—were NOT fans of their cast leaking spoilers. And eventually they say, no, that's not happening, Chord and Dianna have too much chemistry!!! We're not doing that plot anymore.
But they had been known to lie about certain plots happening when people guessed things correctly. When Idina Menzel was cast in s1, everyone was like "oh she's playing Rachel's mom". They denied it and, wouldn't you know it, she was cast to play Rachel's mom. So, keep that in mind.
Anyway, s2 premieres, we meet Sam. He seems fun, he's cute, there's even a gay joke in his very first scene where he gets actual lines. In the third episode, he gets injured at the football game, whatever.
Then the glorious episode 2x04 "Duets" happens. Truly a magnificent piece of television with some of the best performances. Santana and Mercedes doing "River Deep/Mountain High"? THE MOST FUCKING ICONIC THING. Kurt doing "Le Jazz Hot"? PERFECTION. Tina and Mike doing "Sing!" from A Chorus Line? THE BEST FIRST SONG MIKE COULD'VE BEEN GIVEN AND SO CUTE! Ending with Rachel and Kurt doing "Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy"? BEAUTIFUL. And, yeah, the Finchel verison of "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart" is cute and I guess Sam and Quinn doing "Lucky", while not making sense in terms of their relationship, was sweet.
But, despite what RIB said, it was clear that "Duets" was meant to introduce this love triangle with Kurt, Sam, and Quinn. You canNOT tell me that this was NOT both of them flirting with each other. They have amazing chemistry, I'm sorry, you can't deny that. So, that means either RIB were lying about changing the plot, or they waited to change the plot after 2x04.
Then 2x05 happens and that's "The Rocky Horror Glee Show" and we don't talk about that mess.
Anyway, I joined tumblr for Glee fandom literally the day before episode 2x06 came out. And season 2, episode 6 was..... "Never Been Kissed".
And that's when all hell broke loose.
Because NBK, as fans called it, introduced us to Blaine fucking Anderson played by, of course, Darren Criss.
The. Heaviest. Of Sighs.
I remember I was so excited for that, though. I was a Klainer before the ep even aired because I lOVED him. It was only a 3 episode guest arc, but I was sure they'd keep him, and I believed RIB was telling the truth and they were really done with the Kurt/Sam plot. And, evne looking back at it, while I say "Duets" is the last GOOD episode of Glee…NBK is honestly a good episode. And in 2011 especially, it was kind of a big fucking deal.
But the thing about NBK was that, not only did it propel Klaine into existence, it also created Kurtofsky with one kiss in the locker room.
So, now there were THREE ship possibilities arguing all over the place. Klaine shippers who rejoiced as Darren got offered more episodes as a guest actor (his original version of "Teenage Dream" was and I think still IS their best selling single on iTunes, so of COURSE they wanted him around); Kurtofsky shippers who wanted to see this scared, tortured jock redeemed (some of these shippers I know for sure were Puckurt fans, since, yeah, some dynamics were similar enough); and Kurt/Sam shippers who believed RIB was lying as they had in the past (the whole Idina thing).
Btw, there were already arguments over the fucking name for Kurt/Sam because fuckyeahgleesecrets wouldn't let people submit secrets that said "Kum" because it was "obscene"—but having "fuck" in their blog url was fine. I can't find it but once someone sent in a weirdly worded secret that supported Klaine, but then you looked at the first letter of every sentence and it said like "Kum At Me" or something, which was hilarious and got deleted.
Anyway, there was a SHIT TON of fighting. Klainers would say it was the "Klaine Train" but Kummers, as they called themselves, would call it the Klaintanic, like Titanic, saying the ship would fail, and they'd be safe on the Kum canoe. I'll admit I was on that canoe eventually because I hated Klaine by the time it became canon lmao. And I also believed, like other Kummers, that it would still be canon. After all, Dianna and Chord having "too much chemistry" was obviously a lie and they even broke up Sam and Quinn a few episodes into the second half of the season! Oh, and Kurtofsky became pirates based off the sea/ocean thing. I accidentally created the Puckurt centaur, it's a long story.
Anyway, so s2 was wild, with those three mentioned ships constantly fighting. Klainers saying they'd be canon (we all been knew, honestly), Kurtofsky shippers excited over the "Prom Queen" episode being spoiled by an extra, and Kummers holding onto the hope that it would still happen. They'd say something I can't remember like.... "Kum quick on our tittsana faithfully" or something, basically the idea that the endgames were Kum, Quick (Quinn/Puck), Brittana, Finchel, and they'd also often mention Tartie.
Also, did I mention that b3achd3ath aka peyton, who wrote that terrible YA novel everyone was roasting recently, was one of the loudest Kum canoe members?
Did I mention that gr@ceebooks was, like, the Kummers' leader? As in the person who eventually created The JohnLock Conspiracy???? Also led people into believing that another slash ship would become canon????!!!! THOSE WHO DON'T LEARN HISTORY ARE DOOMED TO FUCKING REPEAT IT!
The funny part was that Grace admitted it wasn't going to happen before the s2 finale that was like everyone's final hope that Kum could possibly happen.
The not so funny part is that it's clear, imo, that Chord WAS hired to be Kurt's love interest and they cut it off since Darren made them a shit ton of money with "Teenage Dream" and the whole Warblers thing (I will NOT get into that, this post is long enough), and they clearly didn't know what to do with him after that. Hence why they got rid of him after s2 only to bring him back after enough backlash I guess idk why, and that's also why there's a gifset of Chord kissing every single original Glee girl because they LITERALLY did nOT know what to do with him once they took away the Kurt love interest thing. And it's a shame because the idea of Quinn and Kurt both going after the same guy sounds like SUCH a good plot. Dianna and Chris were two of the strongest actors, and Chord is actually really underrated as an actor, too—good on him for being the leading male against Lindsay Lohan in her comeback movie, I want him to have success after all the shit he went through on Glee. I want all of them to have good things, really (well, not L3a but lmao ya know, and obviously not fucking Bl@ke Jenner, I'm so mad he's still in that Merrily We Roll Along movie adaptation), since they all went through so much.
Oh, and many Klainers started to ship "Criss Colfer" (Darren and Chris, obvi), and claimed PR was keeping them from being openly a couple. As if they WOULDN'T WANT that PR????? Of their same sex couple falling in love on set like wtf PR would want that more than anything??? And, in classic fashion, that led to people sending death threats and harrassing Darren's then gf, now wife, on social media and them stalking any guy who got close to Chris. Chris has been dating the same guy since like at least 2012 I think, and, as said, Darren got married, and some people are still convinced they aren't real relationships, like they're more insane than the fake baby 1ders.
Oh, and of course, Canniblaine.
The Glee Kink Meme—gkm—is a place I wish I never went to, honestly. Like, I was 18 when I first found it, and it fucked me UP. I have said it before and I'll say it again, I'm so concerned for anyone hwo found it under 18. Not in a clutching pearls way, because, yeah, read smut, idc, but this stuff was FUCKED UP. People MADE UP TWINS just to write tw*ncest. Like, literally, there was a trend of Kurt having a twin named Cameron, and eventually people would use like, Chris' character in Struck By Lightning (the movie he wrote and starred in), as one. I remember finding another kink meme for another fandom and like braced myself only to find like…normal fucking smut prompts. No beastality, no gore, no mpreg, no boypussies—and, no, it wasn't that Kurt was a transman, it was that he just had a vagina for some reason, sometimes he WOULD have a cock, too, though, so…Idk.
And I definitely didn't see vore prompts.
And definitely not FILLED vore prompts.
But before Klaine had even sung "Baby It's Cold Outside", someone filled a vore prompt. Wherein Blaine ate Kurt alive.
…This was supposed to be a show the whole family could watch…
There were various memes of the 2010 variety, the best being, of course, the one of him saying, directly from their first duet, "Gosh, you lips ARE delicious". People were daring others to read it.
I made it about a sentence in, realized I was eating a pizza hot pocket (say you were a freshman in college without saying you're a freshman in college, am i right?), and put it down, closed that tab, and I have yet to eat a hot pocket since.
I have to admit this gif still cracks me up though:
So.....long answer, but I hope an enjoyable read on some fandom drama on the Kurt/slash side of fandom.
#long post#thanks for asking this was so long i'm sorry a;slkdfj#glee fandom#kurt fandom#lol klaine#canniblaine#bite me in the ask#cardassiangoodreads

Can we have a klaine AU of this please 🙏🏼💕
“You’ve locked yourself outside of your apartment and there’s a storm rolling in and I pity you so I’ll let you into mine”
Oh my gosh just the mental image this planted in my head ...
_____
For all intents and purposes, Blaine has spent the afternoon watching the skies slowly devolve from naturally pale blue Winter skies to ominous dark gray.
And now he’s ready for the storm to roll in.
Sue him but Blaine loves a good winter rainstorm, the ones that smell like snow and clean the city anew.
Ah, the first rumble of storm echoes through the city, and Blaine breathes in the ozone through his opened window as the rain starts its drumming against the rooftops.
“Shit, shit, fuck no!”
Ah, so maybe one of his fellow New-Yorkers doesn’t share Blaine’s love for a good storm.
A quick glance to the street below sends Blaine’s heart into a concerto of maracas.
The man swearing as he searches through his messenger bag at the entrance of the building is one of Blaine’s neighbor.
“The” neighbor.
The one neither Wes nor Sam can hear about without reaching for the nearest pillow to send across Blaine’s face.
The one Blaine has a gigantic, desperate, embarrassing crush on.
“Excuse me?”
Shit he has been spotted.
“H-hey neighbor.”
Shit, even ruffled by the wind and slowly getting drenched, Cute Neighbor is still cute as a button.
“Would you mind ringing me in? Looks like I forgot my keys at the office,” CN says with a dramatic sigh.
“Sure thing,” Blaine says, practically tripping over his feet (and his dog, and his dog’s toys) to get to the buzzer.
As CN goes up, Blaine looks around the apartment. If his neighbor comes to, you know, thank him or whatever, he’s going to see Blaine’s apartment, isn’t he?
So much for a good first impression: Schunie’s toys really are everywhere, and his beloved dog is lounging on the couch like it’s his domain.
(It is, but that’s beyond the point.)
“Schunie, basket.”
The pitbull looks up, blinks at Blaine, licks his lips, and goes back to whatever meditation is allowing him to be this relaxed.
“Angel Dumott Schunard, go to your basket. Now.”
This time, the dog stands up and shakes himself, before jumping off the couch to sit in his basket, his favorite duckie plushtoy in his mouth, his back toward Blaine.
“Fine, be a drama king.”
A knock on the door stops Blaine before he gets into a debate with his dog’s butt.
“This is not over,” he still says over his shoulder as he goes to open the door. “Hi.”
Sweet rollerblading Jesus. Up close, the man is even cuter than Blaine previously thought.
“Hey,” Cute Neighbor says dejectedly, one strand of hair curling on his forehead as it is weighed down by rainwater. “I’m pretty sure I will look like a total loser but do you mind …”
Not sure I would mind much coming from you. “Hm?”
“Doyoumindlettingmestaywithyouuntilmyroommatecomeshome?”
“Uh?”
The man snaps his head up, greyish blue meeting Blaine’s eyes in a totally unexpected (and frankly, should come with a warning) move. “I forgot my keys in the office, and my roommate isn’t home, so please, I promise I’m not a serial killer--”
“Said every serial killer ever.”
“--but can you please let me... What?”
Blaine laughs awkwardly. “It’s just--I could feel your tension building up so it was just a joke. You know. To help you relax. Please come on in.”
The man lets out a small noise, between a sigh and a huff of laughter, before entering Blaine’s apartment.
Not exactly the circumstances he had pictured for such a feat to happen--and trust him, he has more than a couple of scenarii for said circumstances--but a part of him is skipping joyfully at the sight of Cute Neighbor wandering into his living room.
“Sorry for the mess.”
“Hm? Oh,” CN laughs, ruffling his hair even further in a desperate attempt to dry them (Blaine hands him a clean kitchen towel). “Thanks. No, this is not messy. You should see our place.”
I’d love to.
“I’d love to.”
Not aloud, you fool!
“Sorry?”
Quick, find something.
“Uh.”
Anything.
“Seems only fair. I showed you mine, you’ll show me yours.”
Anything but that.
“I mean …”
CN’s nose wrinkles before he lets out an adorable snort of laughter. “Cute,” he comments between two laughs, looking at Blaine sideways with a sparkle in his eyes that sends warmth down Blaine’s back.
And Southern regions.
“And who is that refined gentleman?”
Excellent change of subject, Blaine couldn’t have dreamed for a better one.
“That’s my sweet dog, Angel Dumott Schunard.”
“A positively brilliant name, if I may.”
“You may.”
“Is he friendly?”
“Honestly, it depends. Schunie, high five.”
During the whole exchange, Schunie had turned to face the show his owner was giving, sniffing at CN’s pants.
Right on cue, as CN offers his palm, Schunie bumps it with his paw.
The perfect wingman, Sam was right about that.
(Not so much about the “chicks--no, roosters magnet, sorry dude”, though.)
CN straightens up and offers his hand for Blaine. “A bit weird that I got to meet your dog before officially meeting you, but nevermind. I’m Kurt.”
“Blaine.”
“Thank you for offering me shelter, Blaine.”
“My pleasure.
If they keep holding hands for maybe a bit too long, it’s for them to guess and for Schunie to know for sure.
(TBC?)

MYLE!!!!! what’s your ranking of all of your kurt ships?
ANA!!
so we have this older one, where I divided them into categories, but here's a overall ranking of all Kurt monogamous ships that I can think of.
starkurt / kelliott
this may come off as shock, but I genuinely love them so much, they have my whole heart.
kadam
I love Adam with my soul, he's the sweetest, and I love their canon scenes, however, I do prefer another Adam ship.
kurtbastian
my first Kurt ship and one of the reasons I joined glee Tumblr, it's weird to place them 3rd place, but I do prefer other ships for both of them.
chummel
I don't talk about them enough, but my beloveds 🥰
wert
I wrote them the other day and now I'm emotionally attached.
kartie
they would have been so adorable, especially in S1.
kake
Jake and Kurt and if it wasn't for the age gap, I do seem them meeting later in their 20s, so much potential.
hevans
sorry about that, I love them, but I prefer other ships for both, and they are tiny bit boring, even if they are the highest ship on my ao3 😳
st. hummel
the chaos.
katt
Matt and Kurt, adorable, I blame fanfiction.
kinn
in an au where they aren't brothers, especially if the roles are switched.
trert
Trent and Kurt, no reason whatsoever.
puckurt
I like them fine, this is more of an would work better in au situation.
kurtofsky
I get it, I'm neutral though.
klaine
I have nothing to say about them.
kandler
neutral.
kunter
no.
#this has been fun#myle's ranking#ana <3#asks#myle mumbles answers#glee#c: blackbird#I'm not tagging all of them#otp: i'm so glad we met#otp: i was just thinking about you#otp: fun i don't like you either#what was my chummel tag 😳#s: it's super distracting#s: you've been honorable actually

Assign glee characters songs from Taylor's Red album if you want. It can be because you'd think they'd sound good or because it just fits
Ahhhh thank you so much for this ask!!!! I literally love this ask so much, answering it was a lot of fun💖💖💖
I didn’t give every glee character a song & I gave a few people/ships multiple songs. Also! I hope you don’t mind that I added a few non-canon ships <3
I put everything under the cut since it got hella long, it’s hard for me to shut up sometimes 😳
• State of Grace: I feel like this is a really good Finchel duet. Finn and Rachel loved each other so much and left a lasting impact on each other’s lives (especially Rachel). I can see them singing this after Rachel heals from from their s4 breakup (so Finn’s still alive). Hmmmm I’m thinking they sing this at the failed Wemma wedding when they reunite.
• Red: Ok get this, Pezberry duet after their s5 fight (but like a romantic relationship, not platonic). But like when they’re at the stage before they make up & they realize how much they miss each other. They switch the male pronouns for female ones tho.
• Treacherous: This doesn’t fit any storylines for her, but I think Santana would sound beautiful if she sang this song. I don’t know any singing terms, so stick with me here. I think that Santana should’ve sung more soft songs (you know, like ‘Songbird’) & I think ‘Treacherous’ would’ve utilized how soft her voice can sound, but also how powerful it can be. Like since the song goes from slow paced and builds up to something faster and more powerful (this prob makes no sense)
• I Knew You Were Trouble: Quinn sings this after she see’s that Puck was s/exting Santana at their sleepover! She was ready to raise a baby with this man even though she knew about his reputation. Quinn thinks that she should’ve known better, but it’s too late for that and now her heart has been ripped out of her chest.
• All Too Well: Kurt sings this after Blaine tells Kurt that he cheated. I think he should sing this in the breakup episode when he should be sleeping, but his thoughts are keeping him up. Like how he tells Finn that he barely slept. I think Kurt singing this would be kind of like why Taylor wrote it, he’s trying to understand where and why everything went wrong.
• 22: I would LOVE for Madison and Kitty to sing this during the party in Rachel’s basement in s6. I chose that pairing since they all had to sing duets in that episode and I would kill to hear those girls sing a song together. Also I can totally see everyone having a great time on the dance floor, kind of like how everyone was partying during ‘Somebody Loves You.’ I think this would be a good song to keep the energy up.
• I Almost Do: I want Marley to sing this so bad. Not for any particular reason, I just think it would go really well with her voice.
• We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together: (Jarley endgame my beloved BUT) Marley sings this after her breakup with Jake. I think she’d sing this after she opens her locker and a whole bunch of flowers that Jake put in there fall out. She’s starting to get fed up with Jake begging for her to come back & she decides that the best way to get her feelings across is to sing this song to him in the middle of glee club.
• Stay Stay Stay: I don’t have a specific situation I want her to sing this in, but I think Tina would sound AMAZING on this song. Like it’s such a fun song & I can so see her singing it because it’s underrated just like her.
• The Last Time: Rachel sings this when she’s on her way back to Lima in the breakup episode to talk to Finn.
• Holy Ground: I feel like this would be SUCH a good song for Mercedes about her relationship with Sam. Like she’s being her pop star self and sees something that reminds her of Sam while on tour. She’s filled with nothing but good memories. She’ll always have love for him in her heart. AND omg the line “And I see your face now in every crowd” because Sam was her biggest fan and always will be.
• Sad Beautiful Tragic: This would be a good song for Blaine to sing after the s4 Klaine breakup. Like I think this would fit perfectly w/ how the song is about how distance tore them apart in the long run. The whole bridge fits their situation so well, especially the lines “Distance, timing, breakdown, fighting / Silence, the train runs off its tracks / Kiss me, try to fix it, could you just try to listen?”
• The Lucky One: This song is deadass about Rachel. It would be wrong to assign it to anyone that isn’t her. Like she was a star who moved to L.A. to make her name even bigger. She quickly learned though that Hollywood life wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be. She had to leave town to save face. Here are some lines that fit perfectly imo: “You had it figured out since you were in school” & “And they still tell the legend of how you disappeared / How you took the money and your dignity, and got the hell out”
• Everything Has Changed: I feel like this would be a super cute Hevans duet. I have no real explanation, I just want them to sing this soooo bad... maybe during duets week...
• Starlight: This would be such a fun group number at the end of an episode. I want the leads for this song to be Artie, Tina, and Unique. I think they'd make this number a lot of fun and I would love to hear the three of their voices in a song together.
• Begin Again: Quinn sings this song about the first girl she dates, mainly because there's nothing more gay than meeting someone in a cafe. The other man that she’s comparing the person she’s with to symbolizes all the men she’s dated. The line "I've been spending the last eight months / Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end” is about how Quinn isn’t the best at relationships. All she wants is to be loved, but she hurts everyone she’s with. But with this girl, it’s like none of that matters.
• The Moment I Knew: Kitty sings this about Artie when he forgets about her while she’s in New York. I don’t think it would fit any specific canon event, but I can imagine something similar to the song happening to them & Kitty just knowing that this was the end.
• Come Back...Be Here: Brittany sings this because of how she wants nothing more than Santana to be there with her. Like she said before they broke up that she feels like she’s suffocating with Santana & I think that this song would help Brittany convey how she feels.
• Girl At Home: I don’t know why, but I want Artie to sing this. I just think he’d have fun with it.
#barely any of the boys got songs... sorryyyyy#not proofreading this since it got so long#asks#nonny

Klaine Advent Drabble 2020 - “Wanky” (NC17)
Summary: An unfortunate find in a secret drawer leads poor Tracy to believe that she's getting a dog for Christmas, and leaves Kurt stuck between a rock and a hard place: does he stick to his guns, or does he traumatize his sweet, innocent daughter for life? (1918 words)
Notes: Written for the @klaineadvent Drabble Challenge 2020 prompt 'learn'.
Read on AO3.
“Hey, guys!" Kurt sings from the front door, brushing snow off the shoulders of his coat before he crosses the threshold. "We’re back!”
"Sorry we took so long," Blaine says, "but we had a heck of a time finding ..."
“Thank you thank you thank you thank you!” Tracy squeals, leaping into Blaine’s arms the second he comes to a stop in their living room. "Both of you! Thank you so much!"
“Thank us?” He wraps his daughter in a bear hug, confused as all get out but in no way stupid enough to turn down a hug. “Thank us for what? Kurt?”
Kurt shrugs, making a don’t know noise as he sheds his coat and hangs it, returning quickly for a turn in the hug rotation. "Brittany? Santana?" He looks expectantly at the ladies who have been watching their daughter all afternoon. "Do you know what's going on?"
Brittany, hands behind her back, shifts her weight anxiously from foot to foot, while Santana, arms crossed over her chest, looks nearly gleeful. It’s Santana's glee more than Brittany’s anxiety that makes Kurt’s back start to sweat.
“It seems Tracy here was poking around in your naughty bits and found herself a little treat.”
Kurt and Blaine shoot her confused looks, though Kurt’s leans more towards annoyed.
“Can you be any less vague?” Kurt asks.
Santana grins. “No.”
Brittany carefully enters the conversation. “Tracy may have accidentally figured out what you guys are getting her for Christmas.”
"And what are we getting her for Christmas?" Blaine asks.
Brittany swallows hard. "A ... a dog."
Tracy dislodges herself from Blaine's torso and latches on to Kurt’s.
"What?" Kurt says, dumbfounded.
“Didn’t we specifically say no to a dog?” Blaine whispers.
Kurt hugs his daughter tight, stealthily covering her ears with his hand. “We did."
"So how did she come to that conclusion?”
“She found this.” A guilty smile flickers across Brittany’s lips as she brings a hand out from behind her back and shows Kurt something that makes his face turn paper white. He doesn't have to look at his husband to know that Blaine is wearing the same dropped-jaw, mushroom pale expression of horror that he is.
Brittany is handing him a black leather collar with a row of rhinestones across the front.
When Kurt comes to his senses, he reaches for the collar, eager to tuck it out of sight.
Mortifyingly, Tracy intercepts it.
She eyes it reverently. But then she sighs, her expression slipping from overjoyed smile to apologetic frown.
“I’m sorry I snooped in your special drawer.”
“Didn’t we make it perfectly clear that drawer is off-limits?” Blaine asks, crouching to talk to her.
“You did.” Tracy hugs the collar to her chest, afraid the dog she has wanted for so long might be slipping away from her.
“Then why did you look in there?”
“It seems a little birdie told her it’s only off-limits because that's where you hide her presents,” Santana explains, maneuvering her shrinking wife behind the protection of her body. “Poor, impatient Tracy couldn’t resist.”
Kurt glares over Santana’s shoulder at Brittany, who completely disappears behind her wife.
Blaine stands, ruffles his daughter’s hair, then takes his husband by the elbow and gives him a tug in the direction of the kitchen. “Excuse us, Peanut. I need to talk to your Papa alone for a minute.”
“Ok, Daddy.” Tracy releases Kurt and walks glumly towards Santana, sighing significantly as she slips into her arms, still hugging that collar to her chest.
That’s the scene that kills Kurt.
Tracy hugging that collar.
The collar he wears on his and Blaine’s "special" nights out.
The kind where they pretend they don’t know one another, and they flirt in a bar like strangers. Blaine picks him up with a proposition, money exchanges hands, and they spend all night in a room at a no-tell motel with Blaine riding him, pulling his hair hard, calling him his "good little bitch".
Yup. His nine-year-old daughter is hugging that collar.
“Oh my God!” Blaine says the second they're behind closed doors, a hint of amusement in his tone that gives Kurt an urge to flick him on the forehead. “What do we do? What do we do?”
“I hope we’re agreed that she doesn’t deserve a thing if she’s invading our privacy!”
“Yeah … well … hmmm …” Blaine waffles.
Kurt’s eyes go wide. “Blaine!”
“To be honest, Kurt, I don’t know what you have against the family having a dog. Tracy has wanted one forever. It would be a good companion for her. Besides …” He looks down at his hands, twiddles his thumbs “… I … kinda … want one.”
“That’s great!” Kurt snaps, frustrated since he thought they were a unified front on this issue. “But tell me this - who’s going to take care of it? Huh? Who's going to feed it and walk it and clean up after it when it vomits on the floor at three in the morning? I’ll tell you exactly who’s going to do all of that! I will!”
“We can teach her to be responsible! She’s at that age!”
“This isn’t the way things like this are supposed to work! If she wants a dog, she needs to earn it! Not commit a misdemeanor! That proves she’s not mature enough! And if we give in, we'll be perpetuating that behavior!”
“Technically, it’s not her fault. You heard what Santana said.”
“Yeah, well, that only proves someone else is culpable. It doesn’t change the fact that Tracy broke the rules. In fact, if she thought her Christmas presents were in that drawer, that makes things worse!”
“This one indiscretion aside, she deserves a dog! She’s a straight-A student. She keeps her room clean without being told. She helps out with dinner, the laundry, the dusting. And let’s face it, between your trophies, my trophies, and all the other knick-knacks in this house, she deserves a dog for that alone!”
“I am not going to make this decision on the spur of the moment! We need to talk about boundaries, hash out rules!”
“Fair enough."
“Which we will do after the holidays!”
“And what do we do until then?” Blaine asks, his eyes brimming with the same disappointment Tracy’s had. He'd started getting excited when he thought Kurt might cave. Now Kurt's pulling a "we'll see". “She already found the collar. How are you going to explain owning that if we aren’t getting her a dog for Christmas? Which is in about a week, by the way.”
“We’ll be honest with her,” Kurt decides. “We’ll explain, in age-appropriate terms, why we have that collar.”
Blaine jerks back, the fringes of a chuckle tickling his throat. “So … she’s mature enough to know about your collar kink, but not old enough to own a dog?”
“I’ll … cross that bridge when I get to it, all right?” Kurt mumbles, his face turning bright red. "But for now, that's my final decision! End of discussion! Take it or leave it!"
Kurt turns on his heel and heads for the living room. He will not be manipulated into giving in, even if this whole thing did start with a misunderstanding.
He opens the door and spots Tracy rocking in Blaine’s recliner, looking at pictures on Brittany’s phone, while Brittany and Santana sit beside her, making encouraging comments.
Tracy, still hugging that Godforsaken collar, looks like she’s been crying.
Brittany looks positively devastated, as if she didn’t just ruin Tracy’s chance for happiness, but helped her get the dog of her dreams, then ran it over with her car.
Santana leads the conversation, which Kurt assumes is about clothes - one of Tracy’s favorite things to window shop. But as Kurt walks closer, he catches a peek at the screen, and his heart deflates. During his and Blaine’s conversation, Tracy had started a Pinterest board titled ‘My Favorite Dogs in the World’. Brittany and Santana are helping her add to it – teacup poodles, Pomeranians, Chihuahuas, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ...
'That one's cute,' Kurt thinks when he spots the silky thing. 'That fur would be fun to style. We could do it together! A bright pink bow, maybe a sparkly barrette ...'
The sparkly barrette brings his mind back to his collar, and he gives himself a hard, mental shake.
'No. Don't waver. Stay the course.'
He approaches his daughter slowly, preparing himself for the worst conversation of his life so far.
Kurt swallows hard. “Tracy?”
Tracy looks up at him with watery eyes. “Yes, Papa?”
Her bottom lip wobbles.
Ugh! This is going to be impossible!
“There’s something I need to explain to you … about that collar.”
“Yes?”
Kurt crouches down in front of Tracy, meeting her eye to eye. “You see, sometimes when you buy a collar, it’s for a dog.”
“A-ha …” Tracy says, hopeful ... and mildly confused.
“And sometimes, two people … two grown adults who don’t own a dog ... might buy a collar to …”
Brittany and Santana both gasp when they realize what he’s doing.
Brittany stares like a deer in headlights.
Santana, on the verge of a laughing fit, gets up and leaves the room.
“Yes, Papa?”
“Well, they might buy a collar because …”
“Because …”
"Because ..." Kurt looks at Tracy, silently wishing she'd catch on without him having to say another word. Not catch on to what they use the collar for, but catch on to the fact that no, they will not be getting a dog right now. He looks into her huge, brown eyes, so much like Blaine’s, her hopeful expression dimming with every second of this asinine explanation.
Is he really going to do this?
Is he really going to tell his beloved daughter that she's not getting a dog because that collar she found is one of her fathers’ favorite sex toys? That the last time they used it, Kurt was wearing it, and Blaine was riding him like a bronco, growling obscenities and smacking his ass?
No! He can’t do that!
What responsible parent would!?
When Kurt first found out he was going to be a father, his own father gave him some valuable life advice.
“When you become a parent, you sort of fool yourself into believing that you’re in charge. You're the teacher," his dad had said. "But in reality, parenting will put you on your ass over and over until you realize you know nothing. But you learn. And one of the most important lessons you’ll ever learn is to pick your battles. Because situations will come up that you’ll never dream of, things that you hope to never handle. But, in the end, when you’re debating right and wrong, you have to decide – are you doing what’s best for your child? Or what’s best for you? Because, surprisingly, the two aren’t always the same.”
In short, Kurt has to choose between psychological trauma, pet dog, or sticking to a rule that's rigid simply because bending it would hurt his ego.
When he thinks of it in those terms, the answer is simple.
His father, as always, is right - mostly.
The most important lesson Kurt will learn from this particular situation is that he needs to get a lock on that damned drawer!
Because watching their new pet tromp through the house wearing that collar is going to burn his eyes every day of his life until he dies.

Don’t Read The Last Page- October 24, 2020
MiniPara: - Don’t Read The Last Page
Rating: PG.
Pairing: Seblaine.
Sebastian: smythesm
Blaine: andersoncharm
When: October 24, 2020- Two days after Blaine’s 24th Birthday.
Location: Sebastian’s Apartment- Boston, MA
Notes: Sam visits Blaine for his birthday week and gets to know Seb a little. He gives Blaine some unexpected news that could change Blaine and Sebastian’s lives…
Warnings: Mentions of death. Parental Death (Blaine’s Mom), Mentions of toxic past relationships. Mentions of brief past Klaine.
Extra Warnings: (This hasn’t been brought up for a bit but, this RP is not Kurt Hummel friendly. You’ve all been warned.)
Blaine’s POV:
Blaine tipped a sip of his tea attempting to hide the smile that had overtaken his face as he watched his boyfriend and his best friend place the freshly carved pumpkins out on the balcony. The visual brought him a joy that he’d not felt in a long time and he wanted to hold onto the moment, freeze it in his brain and save it for a darker day. They’d done six squash and each one had a dreadful grin or the face of a pup, or little cat whiskers carved into the shades of orange and yellow. He, Seb and Sam had spent the crisp day doing various autumnal things that Blaine wanted to do in sort of a birthday weekend celebration and Blaine’s perpetually worried yet happy demeanor over the last few days, had somehow evolved to an even bigger degree of happiness that balanced somewhere between being thrilled to downright ecstatic. Sam being here had brought a little slice of his childhood into his new world and Blaine was over the moon with the feeling of having them both near. If only David and Nick could be here to make it all even better.
He fought the urge to light each of the pumpkins from his spot in Sebastian’s apartment, but refrained- Sam would be leaving soon to go back to Ohio with his family for a few days before leaving for Japan and Blaine could wait before he used his favorite bit of spooky magic. Sam had been in America for almost two weeks now and he’d been in Boston for four days, Blaine only wished he had more time here. He sat his cup down and went over and opened the balcony door as Seb and Sam turned to come back in, the purple and orange glow of the Halloween lights backing them as they stepped into the room.
“I know Sam’s got a long drive ahead of him so I’ve made a kettle of hot water for tea and a pot of coffee, the two of you can take your pick. And yes, Sam, there are about six different types of creamer to choose from.” He rolled his eyes at Sam’s grin and sat down to wait for them to come back. Sebastian came first and Blaine’s face once again threatened to crack open into another smile as his boyfriend snuggled into him, shivering from being outside. Blaine wrapped his arm around him and pulled him even closer before pressing a kiss to the top of his head. “It’s not that cold, baby.” He mumbled teasingly. Seb just grunted in response.
“God the two of you are so gross.” Sam mused with a smile as he came back into the room with the biggest coffee cup from the cupboard filled way too full and slightly sloshing over as he sat down at the end of the couch. “Gross, but like way better than the dude you dated in high school for those few months. Kurt? Did I tell you that I ran into him when I first got to Ohio? Still has major uh, god complex energy. God complex? Did I use that right? Yeah.”
Blaine’s stomach dropped a little at the mention of his brief, witch ex-boyfriend and he pulled Seb a little closer. Whether it was to keep himself calm or Seb safe he couldn't tell.
Sebastian’s POV:
Seb liked Sam well enough. He had brought him a plethora of Japanese candy and a Sailor Moon manga. Sebastian was touched by how thoughtful it all was even if the blonde man wrapped him in a giant bear hug that had lasted a little too long for his liking. Sam laughed at pretty much everything Sebastian said (“your voice is so monotone, dude! It’s hilarious!”) and was Blaine’s biggest cheerleader, had a giant grin and even bigger arms so what wasn’t to like? Ras liked him, too (probably because they had almost the exact same demeanor and ecstatic energy.) Sam fully embraced Blaine’s autumnal themed birthday weekend and didn’t make things seem third wheel-y.
Sebastian nestled the last grinning jack o’ lantern on the bannister as Sam stood back and wiped his palms on his jeans. They had carefully carried all six of the pumpkins they had carved with Blaine out to the balcony to display. Blaine had made a show of making sure each pumpkin had a little white votive candle inside of it though Seb knew that he would just use his magic to make sure they shone bright and long all season.
He nodded at Sam as if to signify that their work was done and they headed back into the warmth of the apartment. Sebastian immediately snuggled into his boyfriend’s warm arms, the scent of coffee and cinnamon candles instantly comforting. He wasn’t ready for the nights to grow colder and darker but he knew how much Blaine loved the colder months and so he welcomed the chilly air and tried not to grumble about missing his beloved sun too much.
Seb peeled himself out of the other man’s strong arms, flipped Sam off and poured himself a cup of coffee with a little half and half. He clasped his mug and reveled in the feeling of the hot ceramic in his hands. Sebastian joined the other men in the living room and tried not to audibly sigh when he noticed Sam’s coffee (kind calling it that, it was mostly caramel creamer) slosh onto the arm of the couch. He knew Blaine would magic it but his Virgo tendencies were itchy with the want to spray the spot down with cleaner and scrub vigorously.
His ears perked at the mention of Blaine’s ex. Sebastian felt the other man pull him a little closer and could feel the energy change around them. He sat up a little straighter and cleared his throat, “God complex, huh?” Sebastian took a drink of his coffee and watched Sam who seemed very chill as he sipped on his drink and gave Ras’s hair a ruffle. He could feel Blaine’s body tense to his side. “Humor us, Sam. What did he have to say?”
Blaine’s POV:
Blaine’s heart thudded in his chest as he waited for Sam to reply to them. This familiar icy feeling of dread that he’d grown accustomed to ignoring over the past couple of years slowly crept over his body even before Sam spoke what had been said into the atmosphere. He tried his hardest not to react, tired not to grip Seb’s arm too tightly as his stomach fell to the floor. Sam’s perky, nonchalance made Blaine feel crazy about his internal struggle, but one quick glance at Seb told him that he wasn’t alone in his struggle. All at once he was happy that Hunter and Tony had already left a couple of days ago after meeting Sam and weren’t here to hear this. Wouldn’t it be their obligation to the Order to do something about it? Kurt was a Witch. A Witch that now knew about Sebastian and Blaine’s very forbidden relationship… He was especially thankful that Freya was out in the moonlight so that she couldn’t tell him she told him so. No matter how much she cared for Seb and of course, Ras.
“Well, he was like standing there, looking like he stepped out of some magazine, you know how he was, remember? And then he just casually asks how you are. So I tell him how happy you are and how you’ve got this awesome boyfriend named Sebastian that treats you like an equal and not like, you know, a trophy wife like he did and this fucking dude just keeps smiling at me. His eyes got all big and crazy looking and man, ooh, he looked like that cat from Alice in Wonderland, you know? Anyway, I’m glad you got outta that one as quick as you did.” Sam took a big swig of his too hot drink and winched but still managed to look so proud of himself for talking Seb and Blaine up. He really was a good best friend. But, all Blaine could feel was that shrinking dread.
Blaine licked his lips, a permanent chill settling into his bones as he sat his tea cup onto the coffee table in front of them before leaning back against Seb. His body tensed and ready for a fight as if Kurt or the Order and Council would bust through the door at any second. “That’s so strange. We dated for like two or three months, I can’t see why he’d even care what I’m up to.” He forced a laugh and reached out for Seb’s hand, linking their fingers and squeezing tightly so as not to float away. “How long ago was this?”
Sam took another drink of his coffee and shrugged. “Like when I first got into Ohio.” He shook his head. “I saw him about three more times on my trip, he didn’t talk to me or anything, just seemed to be at a few places I went to, I wouldn’t worry about it, dude. Like you said, you totally shouldn't give a shit about what he thinks anyway.” His best friend stopped and looked up at the clock with a sigh. “Ugh, I guess I should go soon. I promise the next time I come though that I’ll stay longer than four days, alright?” Sam stood up and not so carefully went into the kitchen to discard his cup into the sink. He pulled Seb into a hug that looked like it hurt before standing up and pulling Blaine into an even stronger hug, crushing him against him. Blaine knew he was tense and that he was distracted and he hated that he wasn’t able to say a proper goodbye to his best friend, but his heart was thudding so fucking hard in his ribcage that he wanted to scream.
He was such an idiot. How could he have been so careless? How could he have forgotten that Sam’s family was from Ohio that sweet, oblivious Sam would have no clue that all the Facebook and Instagram and Twitter posts had been glamoured so that it looked like Blaine was still single to Witchfolk? The high from his Birthday weekend crashed down hard and he couldn’t even bring himself to speak after Sam had left. His body felt heavy as he made his way back into the bedroom to get dressed for bed. He ignored Ras’ pitiful look which made him feel worse. He was working on autopilot as he changed his clothes and he could feel Seb’s eyes on him, searching for answers that Blaine didn’t have. His hands were shaking as he ran them through his curls before finally looking up at Sebastian, lost.
“Fuck, Seb…”
Sebastian’s POV:
It was a good thing that Sebastian was in law school and had been trained not to wear his emotions on his sleeve and had a pretty perfect poker face because his stomach was tied in knots. He knew that he and Blaine needed to remain calm while Sam was around. Kurt was a witch. A witch knew about them and it wasn’t just any old witch, it was Blaine’s ex. Sure, they had only been together a few months but they way it had been explained to Sebastian, he was sure there was a grudge. He could feel his boyfriend’s rigid body and slight shake. “Fuck him.” The words were meant for Blaine’s feelings as well as a reply to Sam’s story.
Sebastian awkwardly patted Sam on the back as he bunched him up into a hug. Blaine hugged his best friend and gave a half hearted goodbye and Ras gave him a few kisses and he was on his way out. Seb walked Sam to the door and wished him a safe trip. He watched Blaine silently head into the bedroom and sighed.
“What does this mean, B? What do we do?” He pulled open the top drawer on his dresser to find the pack of cigarettes he had nestled in amongst his boxers. He felt too agitated to get into his sweats or get undressed for bed. He wasn’t sure if he’d be able to sleep at all. Sebastian sat on the bed next to the other man, his cigarette in between his lips. “Can I get a light?”
Blaine’s POV:
Blaine gave a half hearted smile and reached out his hand and with a surge of energy and a flick of his fingers Sebastian’s cigarette was lit. Seb rarely let Blaine use magic with him aside from sex and he knew this was an attempt to make him feel better. He watched as his boyfriend took a long drag, his eyes blurring from staring at the reddish orange glow of the magic lighted ash. He worried his bottom lip as his thoughts raced through his head. What would he do? He could go to Hunter and Tony, warn them that someone may know about him and Sebastian. Someone that could do something about it, that might dislike him just enough to turn him in. But, would Kurt? They’d only been together a few months and while they hadn’t had the best break up and Blaine had gotten angry about the way Kurt had controlled every aspect about their relationship right down to what Blaine wore sometimes, surely that didn’t mean he’d try to have him killed. Right?
He blinked remembering the disdain in Kurt’s eyes when he said he didn’t want to be his legacy, descendant prize. He remembered when Kurt had reminded Blaine that some witches never found their fate and that they should just settle for each other since Kurt understood what it was like to lose a parent. Blaine remembered how upset he’d been when Kurt threw his mother's death in his face and suddenly it was all too much for him at once. He shook his head and turned back to look at his boyfriend.
“Nothing. We’re not going to do anything, okay?” He knew it sounded insane and saying it out loud scared the hell out of him, but what was he supposed to do? “If we tell Hunter or Tony or my dad it will only expedite everything and I want to hold onto us for as long as I fucking can.” His voice was sharp, like he needed to convince himself and Sebastian. “Kurt has known about us for two weeks, surely he would have gone to the Council or the Order by now, right?” Or he’s just biding his time… He shrugged that thought off, knowing it was going to haunt his thoughts for the rest of his life, leaned in closer to Sebastian.
“Whatever has to happen is going to happen. All I know is that I’m not leaving and I’m not going to let anything happen to you, okay? My top priority is keeping you safe and I plan on sticking by that.” He reached for Sebastian’s free hand and brought the back of it up to his lips and pressed a kiss to it, his eyes falling closed as he breathed him in. The overwhelming feeling of how much he loved this man and how much dying for him and them would be worth it overtook him and he wanted to scream and cry about how unfair the world was but Sebastian needed him to be calm and he needed to be calm for himself or he’d panic and where would that leave him?
“It’s going to be okay.” He mumbled the words, his conviction whooshing out of him as he scooted so that he was as close to Sebastian as he could get, his head pressing into his chest as he tried to steady his breathing and convince himself of the words' truths. It had to be okay.
Sebastian’s POV:
Sebastian took a long drag of his cigarette and blew the smoke up towards the ceiling. He stared at the ceiling fan for a few moments, the light making little blue dots swim in front of his eyes. Seb squeezed Blaine’s thigh and held the cigarette out towards him. “Hopefully this kid has grown up some.” He took a deep breath and his lungs wavered a bit from the smoke and the fear swimming low in his belly. Sebastian didn’t like the sound of any of the words Blaine was saying. It all sounded detrimental and uncertain and scary. “You’re my top priority, too, you know. I need you to be safe, too.” He bit his bottom lip and looked into the other man’s warm eyes. Blaine looked scared and sad and that made Seb’s stomach knot up and his anxiety spike. “We can get through this.” Sebastian didn’t want to turn his courthouse tricks on with Blaine but he wanted to calm the other man down and reassure him somehow.
“Maybe we should lay in bed and watch a movie. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep and I don’t want to mindlessly stare at my phone all night. You can pick what we watch.” Sebastian stood up and grabbed the sweatpants he had set out for that night off of his pillow. “The water is probably still warm in the kettle. I’ll bring you some chamomile tea.”
So, even though his body felt sick with anxiety and his throat felt dry and his hands wanted to shake, he forced his voice to stay even and his hands to calmly grip the maroon mug that he filled with hot water for Blaine. Sebastian turned off the lights and plugged in the heating pad for Blaine, snuggled into his side as they watched Tangled and West Side Story. He drifted off to sleep before anything bad happened to Tony and Maria and wished on any star that happened to be out that he and Blaine would be okay.

Finding Kurt Hummel: Bash
Masterpost
5x15: Bash
So - we’re here at our sorta Sondheim tribute episode. There isn’t much Sondheim in it - and it is, on a whole, probably the weakest episode in the New York Arc - but hey, there’s some good stuff in here, even if the episode feels a bit uneven.
No One is Alone
We open with a candlelight vigil for a guy who was assaulted because he was gay. The group comes in singing No One is Alone from Into the Woods - and it’s a song about no matter how much your life is screwed up - you aren’t standing alone in this world. A commentary to this group of kids coming from Ohio and struggling to make it together in this big bad world.
Vocally, this song is fantastic - it’s a capella and the balance of voices used between the four of them is done very well. If nothing else, it’s a solid song.
Also Kurt looks so solemn here - because his heart breaks for someone to have to go through things that he’s had to face himself. And he knows how hard and cruel the world can be. Kurt’s often inward when it comes to emotion - but that doesn’t mean compassion and understanding don’t come through. He feels things on a very deep level, and this hits hard due to his own attachment to the situation.
However - I do have a few issues with this scene. It’s the opening, and while lovely, it’s out of context and loses some of the emotional weight it might have had used if there was context around it. But also - this episode feels like there are two very different stories in it, and while I won’t begrudge Samcedes having a plot line - they should! This episode might have worked better having been split in two -- with Kurt’s gay bashing part of it given full attention because the whole plot line is held until the second half of the episode and therefore feels incredibly rushed.
Monday Night Dinner
This scene is so short! I love the idea of Monday Night Dinners - where they all get together and chill and enjoy each other. But this scene has so much exposition it has to get through it feels a little...clunky?
At the start of the scene - you can see Kurt lying on his bed, and Blaine is in there with him since they both come out together. If I had to venture a guess, even if Blaine’s ‘moved out’, I doubt he’s really that ‘moved out’.
Anyway - they explain that the dude in the beginning was gay bashed (and I’ll some more thoughts on him specifically towards the end). And Blaine explains that there are a ton of people in New York who don’t like the fact that the ‘gays’ are taking over and Artie throws out statistics about how it’s getting worse. While I think the conversation is good, I wish the writing had been a little stronger and not so heavy handed.
Meanwhile, Kurt’s not looking so thrilled at talking about people being gay bashed, so he changes the subject to the second point of exposition - it’s midterms week (so are we in March now? - whatever, ah man that messes with Tested being the Valentine’s episode...eh, not thinking hard about it), and they have their theme for their NYADA solos - Sondheim. Kurt’s only halfheartedly excited about it -- cause he’s upset about the dude being gay bashed? Something else? I have to wonder if there was more cut out of this episode - because I’m not entirely sure why Kurt is acting the way he is in this one.
And then, for the third point of exposition - we have Mercedes and Sam playing footsie, cause a majority of this episode is about them. And Kurt’s mildly - yeah, I don’t believe you when Mercedes tries to act like nothing’s going on.
Broadway Baby
Kurt’s sitting in the background while Rachel and Blaine sing Broadway Baby. There’s a bit of stuff you can pick apart for both Rachel and Blaine in this scene but... this meta isn’t really about them. Kurt doesn’t really get any reaction shots during the song, claps nicely at the end, and is the appropriate amount of stunned when Carmen yells at them for doing a duet instead of a solo. And...that’s about it. It’s kinda weird that they even had Kurt in the scene, tbh - is it because it’s a class? Or is Kurt just supporting Blaine? Idk, you pick.
(This episode, just, feels like there’s a lot of holes in it.)
Dinner Theater
Kurt and Rachel are meeting for dinner, I guess? I’m kind of sad they didn’t do more out and about scenes while the kids were in New York - but at least during this portion of season 5, they’re trying.
Anyway, news travels fast at NYADA - and Kurt’s learned that Rachel’s basically told of Carmen and quit school. Kurt thinks this is a bad idea - because you should have a foundation to grow from, and he thinks that burning her bridges is not the best thing to do. While I get Kurt’s sentiment, I side with Rachel in the first half of this argument. No matter how hard Glee tries to sell it (with actors who made it big not going to college, lol), being in the performing arts does not take a degree - and you can have a successful career by going alternative routes. (Hell - Sam is going to prove this right.) So as much as Kurt’s intentions are sincere and understandable from a kid who wants a solid foot to stand on in a rocky world, he’s not exactly right. However...
Rachel turns immature rather quickly - and her take down of Kurt is unwarranted and driven from the fact that she is insecure about her own stardom - especially in the wake of everything that happened earlier in the season with Santana. While she does make some interesting points about Kurt not going out there and taking risks -- she’s the one who really needs to grow up and not act like a child any time someone pushes against her.
Kurt all but tells her to ‘fuck off’ and would if this wasn’t a PG show. He’s had to deal with her shit in New York close hand for two years now, and really, the kid deserves better than her tantrums, but whatever.
You know, this scene brings some things to head about the overall arc that I’m interested in looking at.
Kurt, so far in the NYC Arc, hasn’t really been that happy. And it’s not Blaine. It’s not even Rachel. There’s something that feels deeper. (And no - I’m not going to assume it’s Chris and his feelings for the show.) Kurt’s having issues with himself and I find it unfortunate that it never really gets explored. I know that some of this leads to Old Dogs, New Tricks, and Season 6 (and my issues are that Kurt’s issues don’t satisfyingly resolve in season 6) but I wish that here the writers had developed more of an individual story for Kurt in this back half of season 5.
Kurt hasn’t had a whole lot to do in season 5 overall, and while Klaine is going to have some stuff, and ultimately be resolved by the end of the season Season 6, Kurt’s individual story hasn’t really gone anywhere since mid-season 4. And I find it a shame. There’s an interesting story here about a kid who’s struggling to go somewhere with his own career - and while they’ve lightly touched upon it with the whole band thing and will in ODNT slightly, there’s not a whole lot to go on.
It’s funny - Kurt’ll get more than most of the characters on Glee, but at this point, if you’re not Rachel Berry, you’re not going to get a fully fleshed out satisfying ending to your story. And I do think that’s one drawback to the second half of the series.
Bashed
So - next we get the actual violent scene (which is tame for even TV, but jarring when it’s a beloved character in a comedy). Kurt’s walking home, still feeling it from the fight with Rachel - and her words about not taking chances still ringing in his ears (though he’d have done this without that heaviness on him), and goes to help another gay man getting beat up.
So, hmm. First of all - even though one of the dudes yell that there are now two of them, they don’t really know Kurt’s gay - so Kurt’s not really the one being gay bashed here. Secondly, the show makes it a point to really show that the violent guys were drunk -- I think, because Kurt taking on sober dudes might have ended differently.
That brick, though, man.
A lot of this scene actually reminds me of the confrontation with Karofsky back in Never Been Kissed - though I think that scene was more emotionally resonant.
Look, here’s my thing. While I’m glad that the show (finally) chose to address this issue - I kind of wish that this scene had been earlier in the episode, that they might have dug a little deeper into homophobia aspect, and that the reactions were given more time to breath. This whole thing is a nice idea - and an interesting story for Kurt -- but the fact that it sorta takes a backseat to Samcedes (who deserved their own episode about racism) and Rachel’s drama kind of bugs me.
Oh, and then there’s the whole -- of course Kurt’s the one who gets beat up cause nothing nice can happen to him -- that fandom was on at the time. And, you know? Tbh, I think it works for Kurt’s story just fine. I just needed to be developed more.
After a really entertaining scene with Blam, we get the reaction shots to Kurt being in the hospital. And here I do wish there’d been a little more for Blaine. There’s an untold story here about Blaine being one of Kurt’s family - but, since this is before gay marriage, the fact that Blaine might not have been allowed to see Kurt because he wasn’t “family”. And Blaine’s so, so scared for Kurt -- there’s so much they could have explored here. Ah well....
I do find this moment, though, deeply beautiful. Blaine sings to Kurt Not While I’m Around -- Because Blaine, if he could, would do everything in his power to protect Kurt. Does Kurt need a protector? No - not in the way he seemed to way back in Never Been Kissed when they first met. (And this issue is going to be brought up next in Tested.) But there is something to be said, echoed in the opening song, that you don’t have to do all of this alone. Blaine is with Kurt through whatever life hands them - he’s there.
It’s just going to take Kurt a little longer to accept that he doesn’t have to do it alone and not feel stifled by others’ help.
I think, though, what really gets me is the intimacy of this moment. And how it’s allowed to be a m/m moment without being sexual and without commentary. It’s about two people who meaning something to each other in a struggle together, and I just kind of love that that’s always been the heart of Klaine’s story.
Kurt’s been alone for so long -- and in a different way, so has Blaine. But they have each other...
All The Other Ghosts
Burt shows up at the hospital for another Kurt/Burt scene that is nearly perfect. I love how Mike O’Malley plays a scared parent. Just love it. I love that Burt yells cause he can’t contain himself, and that he expresses that while he’s proud of Kurt -- points out how it was a really stupid decision, too -- that the guys could have had a gun, that he could have been killed.
At the heart of Kurt’s story, originally, was a story about a gay kid and his dad -- and I’m glad that late in the series they’re able to bring that back again in such an emotionally relevant way. Kurt and Burt have grown in so many ways -- but at the end of the day, Burt is still worried and deeply cares about his kid, and no matter how old you get -- a good parent will continue to do so.
Meanwhile - we get a little bit of insight into Kurt’s head but not enough. Kurt mentions that he’s been fighting these guys -- these demons of society that tell him that he’s not wanted in it -- for a long time. And instead of just taking it like he often did as a kid, he’s fighting back. That fight was always kind of there -- though through fashion and not fists, and then in season 2 it was more outwardly being proud of who he was. But yeah, the commentary of the episode (and another thing I wish had been developed better) is that sometimes it’s violent and sometime’s it’s not as pretty as singing a song about being Born This Way.
Kurt says he wishes he’d get a scar -- which, besides being a little morbid, is a way for Kurt to remember his continued fight.
There is on clunky bit, though -- when Kurt says he finally realizes who he is and that’s.... Burt’s son? Huh? I mean - I feel like they were tiptoeing around the whole ‘what a real man is’ that they’d mostly dropped after Finn died. But it also feels like they weren’t really sure what Kurt’s realization was? Something a little more explicit to what that means for Kurt as a character might have been nice.
I have to wonder, though, cause there’s some subtext here that I can’t fully read -- if Kurt going out and jumping into fights is a little bit like way back in End of Twerk when he was finding a way to be alive again. Like I said earlier -- Kurt just seems like he’s...not in a good place, and hasn’t been since Finn died, and I don’t know if it’s that, or a culmination of that with other things, but it feels like it’s hanging over this scene. I can’t quite pinpoint what I’m feeling here, though, and unfortunately the narrative doesn’t give us much to work on. Ah well.
Sidewalk
Oh this scene... I’d love to know what the original purpose this scene had in the script because I’m not fully feeling it the episode.
Kurt and Blaine meet near that sidewalk vigil and Blaine says that Kurt doesn’t have to do this -- do what? Go outside? Walk five steps? Place flowers on the sidewalk? I get that Blaine is concerned because Kurt’s just getting to his recovery and Blaine wants to make sure he’s okay. And I also get that part of this moment is about the two of them going out together to face the reality that even in a ‘safer’ place such as New York -- there’s still the reality that there’s a lot of hate for them in the world.
But I’m still not sure I get the dialogue here.
I also wonder, like many, if in the first draft of this episode the guy died from being beat up. I wonder if the censors (or whoever) thought it was too dark and they had to go back and change it -- Blaine’s line that he lived definitely sounds looped. But idk, I think the story would have been stronger had the guy died. Not only would it show the reality of what is going on -- and that hate has awful consequence, but then the scene itself would make more sense. I mean -- why would people have a memorial for a person who lived? Idk, show, idk.
This is also a where I take a moment and talk about how I wish Kurt and Blaine had had a conversation about this with each other. About how Kurt’s been hurt and how each of them are dealing with it. I suppose a lot of that goes into Tested, but it wouldn’t have hurt to give them something here, too. It does feel like there’s a little bit missing and we have to infer a bunch of stuff from subtext.
Also - can we take a second and talk about this production still from the episode?
I like it because it’s a closer angle of the two of them not shown in the actual episode. I wrote a whole tangent on it here. But mostly -- like the earlier scene, it’s quiet and intimate moment. And Kurt’s angry-sad and Blaine’s sad-sad, and there’s a whole lot to this picture that isn’t being said. But mostly, I just love everything that it says about their relationship, and how they’ve kinda flipped roles over the course of the years, but ultimately, how they’re in everything together.
No Apologies Needed
Oh Hummelberry scenes, I’m not even sure how I feel about you anymore.
Rachel comes into apologize for being awful - which is a nice turn of events, really. Kurt’s all pfft I’m over it - let’s talk about you getting back into school cause there are other more important things in life stupid fights and being mad at each other.
Idk. The scene works, it’s always nice when they let Rachel show a little humility. And I kind of enjoy that Kurt expresses how much he cares for her even if he’s not letting her 100% off the hook. Still -- sometimes I think Rachel gets the better end of the bargain, and maybe I don’t always want these issues to be resolved in under ten minutes.
Plus, I’m always side-eyeing when they use Kurt’s troubles to prop up Rachel’s character.
Using this really crappy still to show that, yes, Kurt’s happy to see Blaine. Suck it haters.
Kurt turns his head because Samcedes has arrived, but otherwise, he had been fully engaged and happy with the affection Blaine was giving him. Ah the small things.
Anyway - Sam and Mercedes proclaim they’re together. Kurt gives us a full history of their relationship and then claims he doesn’t see chemistry there (really Kurt? Way to be supportive) but then Sam and Mercedes just make out in front of everyone. And Kurt doesn’t even get a reaction shot. Sure, show. sure.
A toast to Kurt! Because he survived and now has to sing a Sondheim song about it.
Also, if you’re wondering why Blaine isn’t sitting next to Kurt - it has more to do with blocking, and line distribution, and camera angels then it does with anything said or not said about the relationship. Just sayin’.
I’m Still Here
Kurt’s last solo on the show. Oh man. Hmmm.
First of all, let’s just say that Kurt singing a song traditionally done by an elderly woman from the golden age of Broadway seems about right. This song is most definitely a Kurt-ish song, and a nice way to end his solo musical journey that doing something profoundly him.
Kurt (Chris) sounds nice on the track, even if he does botch a few of the pronunciations -- he’s good at this kind of thing, and with the added choreography of Kurt’s traditional dance method, it’s a fine performance. But then, I mean, go watch Elaine Stritch do it on YouTube and you can see why I’m a little - eh - about this performance. There’s a reason it’s meant for an 80yo woman and not for a 20yo guy. Sorry :(
The sentiment is nice though, and while I’m sad that we won’t get another full solo from Kurt, I like that he’s definite in his statement. Kurt Hummel is here -- he is who he is -- and after all the shit the show’s given him (plus a little bit more coming up) he’ll always be here. In our hearts. :D
As an aside - I like the little moments with Burt -- the fact that Kurt’s clearly been singing this song since he was a kid because Burt knows all the words. And I love that Blaine is sitting at the family table, and just beaming with pride.
And at the end of the day - Kurt’s triumphantly standing on a piano because there’s nothing more Kurt than that. The story might be a little wobbly, sure, Kurt ultimately gets the happy ending -- and that’s the message that Glee is really here for.
One More Thing
The story is pretty much over - but there is this one last thing I want to address because it was such a source of contention back when this aired.
There was this issue that Kurt was cold to Blaine during this episode. And -- I just don’t see it? Kurt’s having some issues, and yeah, I wish the narrative would have allowed for Kurt and Blaine to have a private conversation about things, but that’s more technical issues than actual problems within the narrative.
Speaking of technical -- this last scene. There’s a kind of goof, where Blaine moves in to kiss Kurt, but Kurt, not knowing turns away. But the still above is right after that happens - where Kurt looks to Blaine and is beaming. So here’s my thing. I think it was probably an improv’d moment from Darren, because when you watch the scene it’s very obvious that Chris isn’t aware it’s happening. Why the editors chose that take? I don’t know. I could have a full rant about how I think the editors weren’t great on this show. But no - I think it has no bearing on how Kurt and Blaine feel or even how Chris was trying to play the moment. I think it was a goof that made it’s way into the episode.
Kinda like that time Naya punched Darren in the face in the background. (DSB - New Directions, yes it happened) Does Santana not like Blaine?!?? No - it’s an accident.
And I think that’s what happens -- I know we all wanna hang on to every little second cause Glee spends a lot of seconds squandering them. And Glee had, in the past, a knack for having brilliant background moments. But sometimes a goof is just a goof, and a questionable directing/editing choice is just that. I feel like getting our panties in a twist every time something doesn’t go perfectly on this show is a waste of energy. Ah well...

Klaine Advent: Season of Grace
Summary: Their reunion is only the beginning. A collection of drabbles (100 words) written for the Klaine Advent 2017. Pairing: Klaine (Kurt Hummel/Blaine Anderson) Rating: T
Chapter title lyrics taken from Vienna Teng’s The Atheist Christmas Carol and City Hall. Lyrics used in Day 16: Perform are from Vienna’s Never Look Away.

When Blaine cups his jaw and surges forward in reunion, Kurt clings. He breathes in Blaine’s scent, rediscovers the texture and contour of his skin, drinks in his sigh of pleasure. In lonely nights his psyche supplied his dreams with phantom memories of Blaine’s laugh and fingers - dim in comparison to this reality.
Blaine had proposed with promises of a forever without fear; Kurt’s fears had whispered that they were too young, that their youthful attachment wouldn’t be enough to sustain them through vows of better and worse.
Wiser now, Kurt holds his love close and faces the future together.
***
Faint moonlight reflects off their bare skin, their noses brushing, breath mingling in shared space. Kurt’s hand traces hearts across his hipbone, reminding him of another November night, when they had been naive and sweet in love.
“Are you worried? About us?” Blaine flinches as Kurt’s hand stops.
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because I tried to live without you and it nearly killed me. Because we’re better together.”
“That’s it? That’s enough for you?”
Kurt furrows his brow, selecting words carefully. “You know I don’t believe in God. Or soulmates. I don’t believe that we were meant for each other in some cosmic arrangement, as lovely as it sounds. But... I know you and I choose you, Blaine. For now and every day and year to come.”
“Kurt. I choose you too.”
Kurt’s hand moves again. “I’m not letting go again. If we break, I’m bringing in bail buckets and duct tape with the marriage therapists, because you are it for me. The only future I’ll accept is the one where we die hours apart when we’re 102 and still fabulous.”
“Speak for yourself. I’ll only be 101. Kurt, no!”
Languid kisses quench giggles and unease as the day dawns anew.
***
Alone on the cold bathroom floor, with every carefully salvaged thread of hope collapsed into rubble, the tears stung and choked in their bitterness. He deserved this, after destroying their future. Karmic retribution for giving into his doubts and shattering Blaine’s - and his - heart.
It’s faded memory now, as Blaine, with sun-warmed eyes open with love, cradles him close and kisses him again and again. There will always be regret mixed with relief, but Kurt is more confident than ever in them; their foundation stronger now, fortified by forgiveness, trust, and faith in each other.
He smiles and kisses back.
***
Back then, before, a current of tension permeated between them, a sense of looming demise. Insecurities festering, Kurt reacted by pulling back and Blaine by clinging harder. Perhaps their end was inevitable.
So was their beginning. Though in fragments, their connection was undeniable.
Now, he drinks in the sight of Kurt, tall and framed in sun, packing pillows and trinkets, chatting easily - the kids and their sectional selections, Burt and Carole’s adventures in D.C., Rachel’s antics. Blaine’s heart stutters and thrills at the little casual mentions of plans for their life, their future, together.
Grace is a golden epoxy.
***
He returned to Ohio a failed little boy, life in shambles. Mixed with the heartache of his destroyed relationship was the mortification of slinking back home as a college dropout. Blaine spent most days in bed, with rimmed eyes that refused to spill tears.
An invitation from the Dalton Headmaster granted him asylum. His heart ached daily walking down the marbled staircase, past memories haunting a never-coalesced future. And yet, watching his boys flourish under his tutelage and example, he found redemption.
Like before, he heals, and forgives. When Kurt returns to him, his heart is open for a renewal.
***
You keep expecting there to be awkwardness, some reminder of the months spent apart. Before you shattered his heart and yours, more evenings than not were spent in stilted silence to stave off the volatile fractionation. The lingering pain of the breaking should taint this beautiful moment of reunion.
Instead, conversation is easy. He seems as eager to share his thoughts and dreams as you are in spilling yours, safe in shared vulnerability. You drink in laughter and love, intoxicated in his presence.
Warm lips and soft eyes seek yours. Embracing this gift of intimacy, you tug him to bed.
***
Lips seek yours again and again before moving to tug at your earlobe. Goosebumps rise in response to his traveling fingers.
From the first time, sex has always been easy. Together, you discovered communication with touch and passion, and over the years when words caused harsh reverberations, you relied on sex for reconciliation.
Now it feels like a sacrament, the fulfillment of the pledge to take genuine care of precious hearts.
He pauses his downward trail at the edge of your abdomen, eyes open and mischievous.
Lips part and your stomach vibrates as he blows raspberries across your belly.
“Kurt!”
***
“Maybe I should just move in here.”
“Move in?”
“I know you gave your landlord notice but is it rented already? Could we back out?”
“What?”
“We’d have to share my room at Dad’s; it’s small though. I don’t think your parents would approve of us shacking up. We could find a new place, I suppose. Sunday, after the wedding?”
“I thought. I thought you would want to wait. Take our time.”
“Living together wasn’t our problem, we weren’t ready then. We’re healthier now. We can do this.”
“You don’t mind that Dave-”
“No. No unicorns though. Okay?”
“So okay.”
***
His parents, barely blinking at the news of their reuniting, had offered to drive to the wedding. He had resisted at first, not wanting the presence of others to break their sanctuary, but relented when Pam Anderson joined the caravan.
In the backseat, Blaine inches closer as icy harvested fields flicker past the windows, until his head drops onto Kurt’s shoulder, sleep slacking his mouth. Moments like these, precious in the mundane, were the ones Kurt had missed the most.
He meets his father’s understanding eyes in the rearview mirror and curls closer into the solid weight of Blaine’s trust.
***
“Barn chic” wouldn't have been Blaine’s aesthetic choice, but he tries to withhold judgement. Gossamer-draped branches cluster charmingly around hay bales and Blaine can see elegance interspersed with the fairy lights - Kurt’s touch.
Blaine acknowledges the deep twinge of regret for the wedding that will never be - hours spent choosing colors and locations, only for those plans to vaporize. And yet, he feels no rush, no reason to push for something that he no longer needs to believe their commitment.
Kurt’s hand rarely leaves his as they greet beloved friends. Blaine answers his blinding smile with one of his own.
***
“You dress up nicely.”
“So do you. That suit is impeccable.”
“Mmm. I couldn’t have picked better. May I tie this for you?”
“Kurt. We don’t have to do this.”
“I know.”
“I… I don’t want you to regret this.”
“I won’t. We won’t. Blaine. I was going to propose this time.”
“You were?”
“And then drag you to Vegas and skip the wedding entirely.”
“Not Vegas. Same-sex marriage isn’t legal.”
“Massachusetts, then. Or Indiana, I guess.”
“This is so foolish.”
“Foolishness is the key to us. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Make me your husband, Mr. Anderson.”
***
Kurt tweaks a light as he waits with Brittany. He (and Artie) did an impressive job, even with limited resources and atypical locale.
He loves weddings, the pageantry and extravagance that surrounds heart-felt vows of forever. Planning his own, however, had been months of frustration and devastation. The stress of bartering over flowers while dealing with school and work had frayed his surety in them.
They are too young; it’s a heteronormative tradition rooted in sexism; it doesn’t legitimize their love. He’s listened to reason before.
Still.
He wants to marry Blaine. Always.
Now the time is right, he will.
***
There’s a moment, walking down the aisle with Santana on his arm, that he nearly gives in to panic. He had been so certain two years ago when he had stood on marbled stairs and declared his love. Was he pushing Kurt into a decision that he wasn’t ready to make again?
Kurt turns on the step, amid the surrounding confusion dawning into awareness, and meets his gaze. Doesn’t look away.
There’s no doubt in Kurt’s eyes, misty with love, shiny with conviction. Kurt’s smile is for only him.
Apprehension vanishes. Blaine steps up and turns to say the vows.
***
There’s a moment, as Blaine glides the welcomed weight of silver over his knuckles, when everything clicks into perfect rightness.
Once he wore a ring fashioned from paper and promises which he exchanged for one representing forever without fear, a constant reminder of Blaine’s unwavering love. Against his finger, it had sometimes felt like a fetter. Only, in its absence, his hand had been both impossibly heavy and empty without Blaine’s anchoring presence.
In this moment, as his father declares them husbands, Blaine’s hands in his, nose brushing his, mouth greeting his, Kurt feels like he has finally come home.
***
The tempo changes, and Blaine - laughing, blushing, adoring Blaine - finally winds his arms around Kurt’s neck. Kurt can’t resist pulling him closer, relishing the feel of Blaine’s hips, the way their chests press and legs slot together.
Blaine tilts his head and sighs contently. “Brittany just invited us to a ‘wedding consummation ceremony’ with her and Santana.”
“An orgy?”
“Yeah. Supposed to bring good luck. You know Britt.”
“And what did you say, husband of mine?”
“I told her that there was no way that I could share. And that we don’t need luck.”
Kurt captures his lips. “Good answer.”
***
“When Blaine and I were engaged, I made a playlist of songs to perform for our wedding. Even after we separated, I kept adding to the list. Every song reminded me of Blaine, of what we meant to each other.
“One night when I was the loneliest and despaired our chances, I heard this song, and I knew. This was our song.
“Blaine, love of my life, my husband, this is for you:
“Let me uncover the silver in your dark hair The weight of your bones I want to witness the beauty of your repair The shape you’ve grown...”
***
Straw bales prick at his raw skin, but Blaine pays little attention; he pulls Kurt down firmer against him and chases his lips again.
“Isn’t it,” Kurt pants against his neck, hands everywhere, dipping down Blaine’s waistband, tugging his shirt higher, “the epitome of poor decorum to have sex at your wedding reception-”
“Uh huh.”
“With family and friends just feet away.” He lowers the zipper and pushes the cloth over Blaine’s hips.
“Mhhh!”
“How long before Mercedes-”
“Kurt, less talking, more… more… Just-”
He feels Kurt’s smirk. “I love making you speechless. Mmmph!”
Blaine grins back. “Same, my love.”
***
Giggling, drunk on romance, Blaine removes Kurt’s tie, then slides his shirt down his shoulders. Their shower is unhurried with languid kisses tracing trails of water.
Kurt brushes his teeth and washes his face, his ring reflecting back at him, new and yet so familiar. He enters the suite wearing Blaine’s favorite briefs, only to be greeted with snuffling snores.
Blaine stirs slightly as Kurt tugs down the duvet. For the second time in just twelve hours, Kurt watches his beloved sleep. He’s not sure if he could love this man more; he falls to dreams resolved to find out.
***
Awareness drifts into consciousness. Blaine opens sleepy eyes to Kurt’s soft smile. Morning sun glints off their silver bands. “We’re married,” Blaine marvels.
“We are.”
“It feels like a dream.”
“A good one, I hope.” Kurt chews his lip.
“The best.”
“It wasn’t the wedding you wanted. Not our colors or flowers-”
“It was perfect.”
“You put so much effort-”
Blaine shushes him. “I get to wake up with you, talk to you, go to bed with you. Every day, sharing our lives, together. That’s all I wanted.”
“No regrets then?”
“Only love.”
“…Dork.”
“Your dork.”
Kurt pounces. “All mine.”

Not that Burt would’ve complained if he had to stand in line all day to make his kid’s marriage legal, but thankfully, the line’s short.
Kurt steps up to the counter, defiantly holding Blaine’s hand; Burt’s struck again by his son’s courage. “One marriage license.”
The clerk slides the application across with a smile. “Birth certificates, IDs, and $60. Just sign under the line.”
Forms completed, Burt’s attesting as officiant, and - “It’ll be mailed in 2-4 weeks. Congratulations, Mr. and Mr. Anderson-Hummel!”
Burt wipes sudden tears as Carole hugs the newlyweds. His kid’s grown up and he couldn’t be prouder.
***
They’ve been married three days, three serendipitous days surreal in their ordinariness. Kurt’s belongings are piled in boxes, waiting to be unpacked. Their apartment is tiny: a bed pushed to the corner, one dresser to share.
Once, Kurt had carved out special space for Blaine in his life, tried to fit him into defined compartments. Those boundaries, created to protect, only prevented growth and caused lingering pain.
Their success depends on variation from old patterns. Kurt opens the suitcase and dumps his clothes into the drawer.
Blaine kisses his cheek and Kurt draws him in, breath mingling, eager for more.
***
The overhead lights dim and Blaine eases up the armrest. The width of airplane seats are too narrow for comfort, but Blaine doesn’t mind having his husband pressed close.
Kurt’s already asleep, fingers curled in Blaine’s, overcome with exhaustion from their unexpected week since they made vows of forever. Giddy disbelief has faded somewhat in the realism of merging lives, but not the surety of that spontaneous decision.
Blaine knows too well how it can go wrong; this week, basking in deep happiness and reinforcing trust and intimacy, has been a testament to how good it could - and would - be.
***
Kurt tilts his head invitingly for another kiss. “Can’t we stay here forever?”
“We can come back. New York’s pretty close.”
Kurt twists in surprise, water sloshing. “New York?”
“Of course. It’s where we live.”
“But…”
“Did you want to stay in Ohio?”
“I thought a fresh start… Chicago or L.A.”
“I’ve planned to return, even before. I already applied to NYU and Juilliard and a dozen others for next year. But if you want to move—”
“No! I just— I want you to be happy.”
“I’m so happy. Wherever we make our home.”
“Let’s go home then, love.”
***
Dalton burns.
Acrid cinders sting his eyes. Beside him, Blaine stares blankly at the ruins, silent since the call this morning.
Kurt steps to the edge of the fire zone, debris crunching under his feet, and questions the observers. Arson. Only partially salvaged. Oh, yes, it can and will be rebuilt.
In the past, Kurt struggled with connecting to Blaine in times of vulnerability and grief. His tendency is to shoulder on and normalize, the opposite of Blaine’s needs. Their fights magnified this difference.
In their destruction, he’s learned better. Kurt reaches out and provides the anchor his husband requires.
**
Dalton burns.
Blaine chokes on ashes as he takes in the mangled steel frames and smoldering embers. Beside him, Kurt asks questions; Blaine zones out, the details of how and why less important in this inescapable reality.
Dalton had been his refuge. He remembers the first time he walked through those doors, heart bruised and heavy, scared and defeated.
He wonders if this is a sign.
Kurt’s by his side. “The foundation’s strong. They’ll be able to rebuild.”
“Rebuild?”
“There’s already a fund.”
The smoke clears. “Kurt, look. Our staircase.”
Kurt squeezes his hand. “It’s still standing.”
“Just like us.”

I've always been very strict when it came to the stories I read; they had to be finished, never a WIP and fully updated. I guess I did that because I would hate to see my favourite stories just stopping in the middle, but I realised that this is sort of unfair of me. So I want to change things up a bit and give myself AND our wonderful authors a chance and get into WIPs. Since I've never done that, I was hoping you'd help me out and recommend a few? I hope all of that makes sense and I feel like I should apologise to the authors out there for being so selfish. I'm working on that now :)! I do prefer Rating M or E, AUs and everything with Parents!Klaine but I'm still open for anything!
Here are the current WIPs that the three of us are reading:
LYNNE
Warbler’s Lonely Hearts Radio Show by @coffeeorderwrites
Warbler is beloved host of a late night radio show for New York’s ‘lonely hearts’.
Kurt isn’t a lonely heart but he is very annoyed
~~~~~
My Rhythm and Blues by @teddyshoney
Kurt's finally in New York, the city he's dreamed of coming to for so long and the place he should meet his soulmate, according to his mark. After a once-in-a-lifetime concert, he heads to Marie's Crisis for some drinks, and he meets someone whom he's been crushing on for years: Blaine Anderson, lead singer of Warbler Attack. The singer invites him, as a joke, to go on tour with the band, and Kurt takes him up on his offer, sending him off on a whirlwind romance he never thought he'd experience.
~~~~~
You’ve Got My Number by dizzywhiz
Kurt hates music theory, and music theory hates him, too. He decides he needs a tutor if he doesn't want to flunk out of NYADA, which he very much doesn't, so - enter Blaine.
Meanwhile, warblersong and sirelphaba have been internet friends since the early days of social media, having met on the Broadway musical side of Twitter. Years later, they're still friends - and years later, they barely know anything about each other.
~~~~~
The First of Many by kuhlaine
Kurt Hummel is overworked, exhausted, and desperately needs a drink. Or two. Blaine Anderson is underpaid, heartbroken, and dreading the thought of heading home for the holidays. When the two meet at neighboring bachelor/ette parties in Las Vegas, they wake up with more than just hangovers - a sky high room service bill, and a pair of wedding rings.
~~~~~
Always Right Together by holdingdaylight
Kurt and Blaine have been in love for sixteen years. They've only been alive for eighteen.
~~~~~
Wild and Free by @scatter-the-stars
There are sides of fame that Blaine can deal with. Has learned to deal with. But when the story of his sexuality breaks, he is sure the attention and talk surrounding him will finally be the thing to break him.
Needing to get away, he finds peace and solace in the last place he expects. But he also finds Kurt.
Without the eyes of the world on him, Blaine finds himself living for the first time in years without fear or worry. But what he really finds himself doing is falling for the guy he never saw coming.
Can he get his happily ever after even though they live in two different worlds?
HKVOYAGE
“My advise to the anon is to look at how much has been posted since the first date, and look at author’s track record.“
Solid Gold by @heartsmadeofbooks
Ten years after breaking his engagement to Blaine, Kurt’s life isn’t the fairy tale he once hoped for. Forced to leave New York, he goes looking for a second chance, not expecting to find it in the town he always wanted to run away from, or with the man whose heart he shattered. ~~~~~
My Rhythm and Blues by @teddyshoney
MARJAN
Warbler’s Lonely Hearts Radio Show by @coffeeorderwrites
~~~~~
Hit The Switch by dizzywhiz
Feeling complacent in their lives, Kurt and Blaine enter an intensive research study meant to explore the strength of married couples through temporarily switching each partner with a new "experimental spouse." Blaine is eager to take the opportunity to work on his marriage, but Kurt is more hesitant, prepared to just do his time and go back to normal life.
As it turns out, things quickly take a turn, sending them down a weeklong path unlike anything either of them could have anticipated.
~~~~~
Chasing Pavements by spaceorphan
When Blaine Anderson moved to New York, he thought all his dreams would come true. However, living in the city is much harder than he thinks. Feeling lonely and sad - especially since his brother's wedding is quickly approaching, he gets drunk one evening and declares on social media that he's engaged himself. Now he has to find himself a fake fiance or admit to everyone that he made it all up.
~~~~~
Run Away Like The Sunshine by Pterodactyl
After ten years of pining, Kurt's certain that his chances with Blaine are over as he prepares to watch him walk down the aisle. But when the wedding goes awry, he convinces Blaine to run away to France to try and mend his broken heart and put Kurt's feelings to rest once and for all.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: Fearlessly Day 5
This is the last day we get to spend with Fearlessly, who’s brought angst and romance and love of Glee and Klaine.
Day 5: Looking forward (or sideways)
Pick one or two of your fics. What would canon Klaine think if they read it?
Happy Birthday pet
After reading this fic, Blaine is literally speechless and Kurt has so many confusing (but delicious) ideas in his head. A few months later when Kurt approaches Blaine to ask if he wants to go on a vacation, Blaine doesn’t put two and two together. It’s not until he sees the unmarked packages arriving for Kurt that he realizes Kurt’s plan and his heart races…
Shipwrecked
After reading this fic … “Blaine Anderson-Hummel, we are never going on a cruise!” Blaine thinks that his husband is being over-dramatic, but he would never say so. Instead, he is very happy to take future vacations on dry land so that Kurt always feels safe.
Read more for some thoughts about how the boys would see their fic, some Klaine holiday plans, some works in progress (so impressive!!) including an adorable elk related excerpt and a FIC PROMPT.
Where can you imagine your Klaine holidaying?
I have written them vacationing in various different places including Provincetown, L.A., Disneyland, Hawaii, Europe, and even in the open ocean on a private yacht. When I think of them living in New York, I assume they would like to get away somewhere quieter – anywhere from Ohio, to a quaint lakeside cabin, to an exotic secluded beach half way across the world. There will definitely be times, though, when Kurt will want to go to Paris for the shopping, and Blaine will want to go to Italy for the Italian soda! … (“Blaine, I’m gonna throw that machine out the window!”)
Which of your fic universes would you like to live in?
Considering I write mostly angst, none of them! But if I had to choose I would say I would want to be Klaine’s neighbour in The Road Not Taken How fun (and loud) would it be to be Klaine’s neighbour? ;)
Are you planning to write more Klaine fic? Do you have any currently in progress? Share a quote from an upcoming work!
Klaine-wise, aside from the Not As It Seems and the Anywhere You Want to Take Me series (which are still wips), I’m working on many different stories, which are all in varying stages of progress, from conceptual to partly written. There are four which are sort of at the forefront of my mind right now.
The first is a multi-chapter AU loosely inspired by one of Stephen King’s books. The second is also a multi-chapter AU within the kid!Klaine trope. The third is another multi-chapter AU which is set in Canada and will be a slow build and include age difference. The fourth will be my attempt at humour. It is a fun little one-shot and includes two beloved supporting characters. Here is a small excerpt from the latter:
… “Blaine! I know you want to befriend every living creature, but you are not Steve Irwin. Elk are territorial,” Kurt whisper yells.
“He’s right, mate,” Cooper adds in a mediocre Aussie accent.
Blaine ignores them both and turns toward the large animal peering at him between two trees. “But it’s so beautiful Kurt; it’s an elk! An elk in the wild! Come here Mr. Elk,” he coos as he approaches the beast slowly and gently.
“Oh for fuck sakes,” Kurt hisses. “Not only are we lost, but we are lost with a toddler who has no regard for a wild animal’s boundaries. Blaine! Get back here! It’s going to charge at you and then at us!”
“Elk are pretty dumb,” Finn announces. “If it charges just hide behind a tree.”
“Come on little guy, I just want to pet you. You’re so beautiful,” Blaine babbles.
“Squirt, that elk is about four times your size. There’s nothing little about it. Now Kurt’s right,” Cooper drawls in a just-passable southern accent, “get your behind back here before we have an emergency on our hands.”
“Your brother’s right dude. I don’t see any doctors around,” Finn says.
“I played one on TV once,” Cooper says excitedly, forgetting all about the dangers his brother may be getting himself into. “Now that’s a great gig, Finn. Those are the roles you should audition for. It drives the girls wild!”
“Might I remind you, Cooper, that I’m married.”
“I didn’t say you had to do anything with them. I just mean, the ladies tune in to doctor dramas. They go crazy for a white lab coat and stethoscope,” he says as he points and winks at Finn.
“I hate to interrupt your strategic-planning meeting on how to score women, but can someone please help me get Blaine out of harm’s way?” As Kurt motions to get closer to Blaine, the elk becomes spooked and runs away.
“Kurt! I was so close to petting it!” …
Do you have any other writing plans you’re willing to share?
I didn’t mention this one above because it’s not Klaine, but first and foremost on my list is a Kurtcedes fic, which I’m writing for @redheadgleek as part of the @fandomtrumpshate campaign. Aside from that I eventually would like to write a 100% original story, but that is way in the future.
Give our readers a prompt for a Klaine fic you’d like to see!
Blaine is a young crime prosecutor, fresh out of college. He takes on a case which could either jumpstart, or break his career before it even starts. The defendant is none other than high-profile fashion designer, Kurt Hummel. Kurt’s defense attorney claims that Kurt murdered the victim in self defense of his father, who was being physically attacked. (You decide if Burt lives or dies). Of course, at first, Blaine and Kurt hate each other because of the situation they’re in, but chemistry and desire slowly build as the case wears on.
Kurt’s occupation is flexible as long as he’s high-profile. The roles can even be reversed with Blaine being the defendant (maybe Cooper was attacked) and Kurt the prosecutor. Bonus points for age difference – the prosecutor is a college-aged whippersnapper and the defendant is older and established. EXTRA bonus points if the defense attorney is Sebastian Smythe.

Becky my beloved <3
how are you?
I will be asking to rank all Kurt ships you can think with as much of an explanation as you want ✍️
hope your day is going well 🧡
Myle my beloved <3
I'm not too bad! Kinda stressed over work this week, but it could be worse. I hope you're well!
I don't have a ton of energy to go all out with explanations (I wrote this and then gave an explanation with every single one but shhhh). In lieu of the amount of detail I'd like to provide, please accept these links to previous things I've posted about my opinions of Kurt ships:
Kartie/Kody, Puckurt/St Hummel/Chummel, Kelliott/Kadam/Hevans/Kandler/Kalter, top 10 (now outdated)
I also once posted a tier list of my Kurt ships so feel free to take a look at that! It also may or may not have changed since. My top 3-4 are pretty solid, and after that things can vary quite a bit based on how I'm feeling at the moment.
I'm going to limit this post to pairs rather than poly ships because then there would just be far too many combinations...
ANYWAY. Ranked list of Kurt ships under the cut :)
Kurtbastian. I don't think I need to explain myself, but this dynamic is absolutely everything to me. The intensity, the drama, the sexual tension, everything they are is just so so so perfect for each other and I love them.
Kelliott. I love Kurtbastian because they're a great story, but I love Kelliott because they feel real. If Kurt Hummel were a real actual person, I would want him to be with Elliott Gilbert.
Klaine. The ship that got me into fanfic. That being said... I think I love them more for the fandom than for their canon relationship at this point. Which is totally fine, since basically all of the ships I love are due to fandom if not my own personal thoughts on the characters involved <3
Puckurt. Pansexual!Noah Puckerman in love with Kurt Hummel and willing to defend his honour? Not giving a shit what people have to say about him because He Loves Kurt and he won't be ashamed of who he is and he's just So! Proud! Of his boyfriend!! And Kurt just rolls his eyes and tells Puck he can take care of himself and Puck just looks at him and smirks and says "I know you can" and then they're making out against a wall in a locker room and... I'm gonna stop before I get carried away, but. Yeah. Puckurt my beloved.
Kadam. I'm sometimes guilty of forgetting about them and I'm so mad every single time because they are so cute!! So good!!! Like PLEASE ADAM IS A SWEETHEART and Glee did us so dirty by not giving this relationship a real chance.
Wert. Wesley Montgomery needs to be defended at all costs. This is based solely on fanfiction, and most of that is my own fanfiction lol I accidentally wrote myself into shipping them and now I can't stop.
St Hummel. This would be the most chaotic relationship imaginable but oh god would it be funny as hell.
Hevans. They are very very sweet and the fact that Sam wasn't bi is a crime. Sam clearly had such a high opinion of Kurt throughout the entire damn show, and they should have been together.
Chummel. Mike is a sweetheart. I'm having visions of very hands-on dance lessons that very quickly veer into not-quite-dance-lessons-anymore because Mike is getting right up in Kurt's space to help him move and... well, you get the idea.
Brokurt. Brody deserved better then the show gave him. And he's also so clearly not entirely straight. Let him have a fling with Kurt PLEASE.
Kartie. They would be sweet. I'm not a HUGE fan of Artie but I do think he could be a good boyfriend, and I could imagine him and Kurt being really supportive of each other and their talents being very complimentary.
Kandler. I don't think this would work long term, but I think Chandler is such a fun character and it would have been neat to see where this could go. Maybe a fun little summer fling to boost Kurt's confidence, you know? They part on good terms, go their own ways for school at the end of the summer, if they ever run into each other back home they're friendly and give each other a hug.
Kurtofsky. I'll be honest; I used to really hate this ship. I don't hate it anymore though. In canon? Ehhh, still don't really see it ever happening. Fanon, however, I could see it. And the art that I've seen is gorgeous. I could see this moving up over time; the more I think about it, the more it grows on me tbh.
Kalter. I actually don't hate this. Don't love that Walter lied on the app, but he was upfront on their first date. And I don't think he was taking advantage of Kurt, and the age difference doesn't really bother me (it's not idea especially considering Kurt was still not that long out of high school at this point, but given it's television and he was made out to seem older I can let it slide). I think this was a fine little short relationship and neither of them were all that invested in it, but I don't like... actively enjoy it or anything haha.
Kooper. Honestly the level of awe/obsession/whatever that Kurt had for Cooper upon meeting him turns me off this ship a little bit. I don't hate it or anything, I just don't really see it. Absolutely give me brother-in-laws Kooper ganging up to tease Blaine, though!
Kody. I am very much pro slutty Kurt trying to get it on with a sexy man, but I just... this particular man gives me the heebie jeebies, you know? It's just Not It for me, sorry.
Kinn. No hate to anybody who does like this ship, and like I get it, but a) they're canonically brothers and even in a verse where they aren't I still can't put that aside, and b) I don't really like Finn as a character do I don't enjoy thinking about him and Kurt together romantically. I can enjoy some fanon brotherly Furt content, but that's about all. My apologies.
#am I forgetting some ships? probably. remembering is hard.#but there are 17 here and I think that's pretty sexy of me#glee#kurt ships#kurt hummel#mine#ask#awkwardcaterpillar#my opinions#my rankings#I'm not gonna tag all the ships...#there are a lot and like. all the actual content is under a cut anyway#don't click if you don't want to see a specific Kurt ship#regardless of what the ship is... it's probably mentioned lmao

AU klaine prompt inspired by the video with the window washer playing with the cat where blaine is the window washer and kurt is the cat's owner?
The aforementioned video
On AO3
Window washing was the Anderson family business. His father did it, and then, when his back didn’t allow him to climb and wash the windows himself, he started training Cooper and Blaine to follow in his footsteps.
Cooper loved the job, but he always ended up having to go back because he left traces on the windows.
Blaine, well… It’s not that he doesn’t enjoy doing it, the physicality of it, the work-out it represents, and the happiness he brings to some of his clients.
But he could definitely do without the small percentage of clients who are insufferable.
Luckily, today is a light day, mentally.
Today is Tuesday, which means that he has to clean the Plaza building. Not a lot of offices, which he prefers, and large window panels without convoluted stone carvings to clean around.
Blaine slides down from the roof and starts cleaning the window when a small black kitten appears in his line of sight.
“Hello,” he coos, applying the soap and giggling when the kitten follows the motion of his brush with his little head. Blaine is truly delighted when the kitten trots up to him when he moves to the next window on his right, the feline walking with his tail swishing from side to side.
Once the window is clean, Blaine decides that he can spare a couple of moments to play with the kitten.
He is so focused on his reactions that he misses the appearance of two socked feet behind him.
The music notes do get his attention, though, and he looks up to find a man giggling his head off as he films Blaine and his cat.
Blaine grins at him and waves, only for the kitten to bat his hand through the glass.
The man laughs harder but looks up from his screen, waving back at Blaine.
The cat seems very interested in his owner and moves away from the window, visibly meowing to be picked up.
Blaine shrugs and waves again, this time to signal his departure, before sliding down to the next floor.
That was a very nice moment.
And that man was very, very, very handsome.
---
From that day on, it becomes a sort of tradition.
Every other Tuesday, Blaine gets to meet the black kitten (who visibly grows as the weeks go by), while his owner records their encounters.
As cute and funny as the cat is, Blaine doesn’t really know if he looks forward to those Tuesdays for the animal or for his human.
They don’t speak to each other, per se, but he feels like they are having whole conversations through their eyes and gestures.
It’s been two months since Blaine met the black cat and his owner, and he still doesn’t know their names, and it’s bothering him more than he cares to admit.
So he prepared a sheet, saying, “Hi, I’m Blaine,” in the hope that it will prompt his Mystery Man to reply.
But first, entertain the Mystery Cat while doing his job.
The moment two human feet appear, Blaine reaches into his breast pocket to unfold the paper.
The man turns off the phone and comes to sit next to his cat to read it.
It’s a good thing Blaine is firmly attached with his harness, otherwise he doesn’t know how well he would be able to maintain his balance, because…
Wow.
The man looked handsome, cute even, from afar, but up close…
W. O. W.
Look at those eyes.
The man smiles as he reads Blaine’s introduction, before pointing at himself and waving his fingers in the hair.
A vertical line; two short diagonales; then a curvy one…
Oh!
Okay, Blaine can do this.
K.U.R.T.
He says it aloud. “Kurt?”
Mystery Man nods and beams at him.
“Nice to meet you.”
Kurt waves between them while nodding. Blaine interprets it as “Likewise”.
He then points at the cat, and Kurt wrinkles his nose.
It’s adorable.
And then, Kurt lights up, holding up a finger, pointing at his socks.
“Socks?”
Kurt shakes his head, twisting his upper body to show Blaine the brand.
(Blaine is absolutely not distracted from said brand by the sight of Kurt’s backside, presented to him in the same motion.)
“Ah! McQueen?”
A vigorous nod.
Blaine makes an approving gesture before tapping the glass with all of his fingers to respond to the aforementioned cat who was busy batting the window, demanding his dose of attention.
Kurt smiles at the two of them before returning his focus to Blaine, who tries really hard to fight his blush under such scrutiny.
Kurt opens and closes his mouth several times, visibly growing frustrated with each aborted attempt.
Meanwhile, Blaine moves on to finish cleaning Kurt’s windows. When he’s done, he lowers himself until his face is at ground level for the apartment and its residents, waving goodbye and planning his next move.
The next fortnight, Blaine has another piece of paper ready for Kurt.
“Here is my phone number.”
Kurt’s smile is blinding as he rushes to take his phone and save the number, rapidly typing a message as he goes.
Blaine can feel his phone vibrating in his chest pocket, but he never takes his phone out while suspended mid-air. He makes a gesture he hopes Kurt will understand to say “later”, before cooing at McQueen who is sticking his face against the glass.
When he’s back on the ground, Blaine takes his phone out and reads Kurt’s message.
“HI! I’m so glad I can finally tell you how much you’ve brightened my days with your kindness for my cat.
I hope to see you many times, but would it be possible to do so without a barrier between us?
Have a nice day and stay safe,
Kurt”
Blaine presses his forehead against his phone (and wipes it against his t-shirt because his forehead is quite sweaty after all) before typing his answer, looking up even if it’s useless once it’s sent.
“I would love that. Tomorrow is my day off, so, you tell me?
And just so you know, cleaning your windows has been the highlight of my weeks ever since I met… McQueen.”
Yes, he’s playing coy. So sue him.
Kurt’s response is immediate. “Starlight Dinner. For lunch. My treat?”
And, not even fifteen seconds later, “I’ll make sure to let him know how much you enjoy your dates.”
Oh, okay. Two can play that game.
---
“What’s the big occasion?”
Cooper lets himself into Blaine’s apartment and drops himself onto Blaine’s couch, looking at his little brother getting dressed.
And there must be an occasion behind that outfit—Blaine knows how to highlight his assets, he learned from the best after all.
“I have a date.”
Cooper straightens up, and Blaine can’t help but smile proudly at the idea of the upcoming date. “With the cute cat guy?”
“I told you his name is Kurt.”
“Right, right.” Cooper comes to stand with Blaine in front of the mirror, handing him a different belt to tie the outfit. “And you really want it to go well?”
“Duh.”
“You know what you need to do then.”
Blaine glares in their reflection. “I am not going to serenade him with a poppy lovesong in a public space.”
“Ah?”
“Not on the first date.”
“Attaboy.”
---
Naturally, Blaine gets to the restaurant early—far too early, if he’s being honest, but he was so worried of being late, and so anxious to escape Cooper’s ridiculous advice, that he left and walked to the place—but it gives him the time he needs to compose himself and let the odd ambiance of the restaurant soothe his nerves.
And then, someone enters the restaurant and makes a beeline for Blaine’s table.
Someone Blaine has been eager to see and meet and hear, wearing the most perfect sweater Blaine could ever imagine.
“Hi,” Kurt simply says, and his voice is even more perfect than the one Blaine imagined.
“Hi.”
Kurt sits down and crosses his arms over the table, slightly leaning over it to get closer to Blaine. “I almost can’t believe this is happening,” he tells Blaine, in a tone of confidence.
“Me neither,” Blaine confesses. “I had to check and recheck your text. My brother even pinched me to guarantee I wasn’t having a very detailed daydream.”
“Oh, I hope he didn’t hurt you.”
Blaine shrugs. “Anyway, here we are.”
“Here we are.”
Silence thickens between them until they both laugh, awkward all over.
“This would be easier if your matchmaker pet was here.”
“Wouldn’t it be, though?”
“A black cat named McQueen, that is quite the statement.”
Kurt smiles at Blaine, before launching into a story of how the cat got his name.
(Long story short, when Kurt first fostered him, the black kitten would always find his way to Kurt’s beloved McQueen scarves to nestle in them, and the name stuck.)
The ice definitely breaks when Blaine pushes his side of fries toward Kurt while they eat and Kurt covers Blaine’s hand with his before devouring half of the fries, in the most inelegant way possible.
Blaine finds it absolutely irresistible.
And he tells Kurt so, while Kurt has his cheeks stuffed with fries like a chipmunk.
“You’re adorable.”
Kurt freezes, before gulping as his cheeks turn bright pink. “Oh. Really?”
Blaine leans his head on his hand. “Really.”
Kurt looks away before returning his hand on top of Blaine and squeezing it. “I, um. Me too.”
“You, too, think you are adorable?”
Kurt shakes his head. “No, you jerk, I think you’re adorable too.”
“Kind of sending mixed signals, here.”
“Oh, okay. I take it back. You’re not adorable.”
“No?”
“No,” Kurt says, his smile belying his tone. “You’re insufferable. I hate you.”
“Right.”
Kurt brings Blaine’s hand closer to him, rubbing his thumb over his knuckles. “But,” he continues, a darkness appearing in his eyes, “my cat loves you, so that must mean something about your character.”
“Oh, bless McQueen’s judgment call, then.”
“Indeed.”
Blaine nods, swiping the last fries for himself with his fork. “Didn’t mean to be a jerk.”
“Didn’t mean to call you a jerk.”
Blaine smiles. “This should make for an interesting second date.”
“Second date?”
“My turn to invite you.”
“Right.” Kurt cocks his head to the side. “A bit cocky of you, though, to assume there will be a second date.”
“I don’t assume,” Blaine replies. “All I know is that I would love to see you again, and not on my regular Tuesday.”
Kurt smiles, all bravado melting away. “I would love that too.”
“Then it’s a date.”
“It’s a date.”
“And I have to meet McQueen in person sometime in the future.”
Kurt laughs at that. “I’m pretty sure he will be beside himself to finally meet his favorite human.”
“Oh, second favorite, surely.”
Kurt smirks. “Surely, yeah.”
--
Two years later, when they get married and McQueen is the ringbearer, they are still debating who is his favorite human.
(The response is clearly a tie, but McQueen prefers to let them wonder.)
