not to get controversial immediately, but sometimes i think about that era of time where literally everyone and their grandma had these super fancy themes, icons, aesthetics in general (myself included) and i'm like... why. i cannot remember how many times i saw blogs who would remake and remake and remake their theme and icons but then never actually write. all that brain power and time and effort for roleplaying, and they didn't even roleplay. i found once i said fuck it to themes and icons, i wrote quite a bit more and better because i wasn't necessarily relying on icons to do some of the work for me.

this is obviously not to shame anyone who does like their aesthetics. i understand why people enjoy it, because i did too! but it's just so... upsetting? to see people who don't write because their icons aren't finished yet, or something like that. like, you do you babe but isn't the writing kind of the point? isn't collaborating with people the point? who cares if there's no icon. it's okay to write without it being pretty !

there's a whole other conversation to be had about the lack of accessibility that comes with a lot of themes and icons too that some people have been told a million times and still don't want to hear, but i won't get into that kfjhndm
