He'd not found out in the past year, there was no way that he'd find out today. She knew she had to tell him someday, but not yet. She couldn't hurt her daughters like that. Just until her youngest turned 16. She needed them all to be a good age before she told the truth. She walked through the hotel, and saw the man she was looking for. She smiled.

RP Maybe?

So...

I really want to rp Lemony Snicket-verse/VFD stuff. Mostly Kit Snicket.

Pros:

I have been rp-ing in real life and online for several years now. I have read all the  books(and seen the movie (ugh) and the series. I’ve seen some great rp-ers out here and it would be really fun to join. 

Cons:

I’ve never role-played on tumblr, specifically, and don’t know how easy or annoying it is as a platform. Also I’m a little worried that in a month or so I’ll lose interest, as my obsessive nature moves on to another thing.

Thoughts? I’d appreciate advice. I’d also appreciate any kind of signal from anyone willing to rp with me, so I know wether to bother trying.

her mother, as well as her father, unbeknownst to natasha, used to be a member of the VFD. natasha has a spyglass kept on her windowsill and likes to examine it sometimes, wondering the story behind it.

little did she know, her father had gone to work for count olaf. 

she leans more towards guys when it comes to romantic relationships, but goes to girls when she wants a little more fun.

natasha loves art, greek mythology, drama, and books. her favorite band is vampire weekend. 

going a little off-book here: natasha is part of asoue and stranger things! i don’t limit it to mutuals only.

Advice Please!

Hey so I’m a fan of the Vampire Chronicles and I am really craving roleplaying my favorite character, Nicolas de Lenfent. But there’s a lot of possible negatives too and I really can’t decide. Help please?

1. Interest

Pro: I love Nicki and I know I would enjoy playing him. In fact, a Nicolas blog is how I first discovered tumblr role-plays existed, years ago. 

Con: This may be a temporary urge, and I might lose interest quickly,

Pro: I thought the same thing about Kit and I’m still here. 

2. Time Management:

Con: I’m in the last few weeks of school, and going to a convention soon. I should focus on my finals.

Pro: I will be graduated soon and have a summer of free time. 

3. Blog convenience

Con: I would want to do this on a separate blog, not mixed in with the Snickets. That would mean making a new account (since I can’t figure out how sideblogs work) and using a third browser (I currently have my main account logged in in one, and snicketsquadron in another). I have third browser but it just seems like a lot of work. 

So that’s where I’m at right now.

For timelines sake we are assuming, here, that violet was born in august of 1960. If you wanna know the reasons for that hit me a message. I know it’s hard to tell what the fuck time period dani/el hand/ler placed ASOUE in so !!  

actually wait one more thing before I begin: I WILL NOT BE TALKING ABOUT THE MATTER OF VIOLETS PATERNITY IN THIS. Daniel leaves that entire thing SUPER vague and while Violets conception coincides w/ the time that Beatrice and Lemony broke things off, it is also still entirely possible that she is Bertrand’s. Plus leaving it vague means that I get to have more fun. ; ))))

UNKNOWN TIME B4 VIOLET’S BIRTH: The Baudelaire parents, with the help of Kit Snicket, murder Count Olaf’s parents in a plot to get his money.

In Snicket’s prequel series to ASOUE (ATWQ) it seems that Lemony, Beatrice, and several other young VFD members are very intent on changing the nature of the VFD. One can assume that to do this, they need a fair amount of money that is their own ( here meaning, out of the VFD’s reach ) , and did so by killing Olaf’s parents who we can assume, are well off. Honestly Imma just link you guys to this snicket sleuth article bc it explains it better and in full detail and I’m lazy.  

SEPTEMBER 1960: Violet Baudelaire is born almost immediately after Beatrice and Bertrand are banned from the island. She is conceived nine months prior, INCREDIBLY close to around the time Lem and Beatrice broke it off and emotions where high if you get what im implying if not ur too young chip go home

Violets childhood is very vague. She doesn’t remember much before Klaus was born and it seems there’s still more she doesn’t remember after that. What she does remember is a nursery rhyme. She recalls it as Row Row Row Your Boat. However she also recalls her parents singing something with “The World Is Quiet Here” in it. She also claims that the name “snicket” is familiar to her in The Penultimate Peril.  After closely reading Lemony Snicket’s Unauthorized Biography we find that she is actually recalling the same song, as the sheet music that Lemony provides to his editor is written to the melody of “row row row..” [ SNICKETSLEUTH, 2 ]

“though they lived in a big mansion, down robber road a tad, it was at the farm the lady bore the little snicket lad. […] so don’t scream when we take you: the world is quiet here.” [THE LITTLE SNICKET LAD - LEMONY SNICKET’S UN-AUTHORIZED AUTOBIOGRAPHY, PP. 9-19]

IMPORTANT NOTE: neither Klaus nor Sunny seem to remember this song, so I’m going to assume here that it was only sung to Violet.

This next part is all shitthaticameupwith™

SO. Let’s talk about the VFD’s whole mentor/pupil thing they got going on. It’s canon that they take talented children from a very young age and recruit them into the cult organization. We know this from Snicket’s “autobiography” where he provides pictures of him as a toddler and claims that shortly after that picture he was taken by his ankles from the kitchen (just as his siblings were) and recruited.

Now, with a schism in the midsts it’s fair to assume that both sides would be recruiting members as heavily as possible. They are essentially at war with one another at this point and need as many “soldiers” as they can get.

1964

Enter Violet Baudelaire, age 4, who exhibits extreme skill in inventing from a very young age. Enter Violet Baudelaire who the VFD suspect might be Violet SNICKET which would be insanely important to them as the snicket’s have made some of the best VFD members yet and would put high value on keeping that bloodline in the organization 

With the schism, the broken memories, and the cloudy memories of VFD references ( which again, were not made to Sunny and Klaus, and seemingly stopped after Klaus’ birth – along with the parents adamancy in keeping the VFD a secret from the kids ). I’m going to make the assumption that at some point, when Violet was just a toddler, the VFD tried to take her. 

Cue traumatic event, cue Violet forgetting shit, 

cue the Baudelaire parents realizing that they don’t want their children to have anything to do with this organization. After all, they did consider having Violet on the island to shield her from the worlds treachery, and only left because they were kicked off.

So why would the Baudelaire’s continue to have children? Well my theory is fairly simple. Beatrice was most likely already pregnant with Klaus at the time, and Sunny was an accident (sorry sunny, u were a happy accident i promise Violet loves u).

BACK TO THE KIDNAPPING. So now not only do the Baudelaire parents want to keep any knowledge of the VFD from their children, they also start concocting a plan (with the help of who I can only presume is the Quagmires), to get a blank slate – to start over somewhere far away from the VFD’s grasp. And how exactly do they do this?

With Olaf’s fortune that was split between themselves and the Snickets.

1974

The plans are finally ready to come to fruition, the Baudelaire parents are ready to flee. However, upon finding that their friend and partner in crime Kit Snicket is pregnant, they offer to include her in the plan, assuming she would want her child to stay away from the VFD in the same manner they do. However, Kit being an EXTREMELY loyal VFD member, betrays them to the organization. (perhaps this is why the children are sent to the beach ?? So B&B can meet with Kit, whom they were also keeping a secret from the children.)

the VFD ( probably possibly even Kit herself tbh ), in response to this, burns down the baudelaire mansion. Killing Bertrand, and later Beatrice at the Masquerade. Knowing full well they can blame these fires on the fire-starting side of the organization, namely Olaf.

NOTE: I will, of course, discuss this headcanon with any Kit’s I interact with, and leave it up to them if they wish to include it in their portrayal or not. If they don’t I will disregard it as it could have been anybody – ( maybe even the Quagmires in hopes of securing their children’s safety ?? ) who betrayed them.

TO ME !! remember that none of this necessarily has to come up in our threads unless you want it to, it can go completely IGNORED as she has no knowledge of any of this, but it does affect the way she thinks and acts, and I figured I would throw it out there incase anyone wanted to use it as a basis for plotting.

Our Legacy :) Back before the werewolves were a thing and I just had my little red-headed snake and my hyper sexual ravenclaw

Other RPs you were in: 

I’ve tried to be in various others, but didn’t really stick with them. Some of my favorites include: A Series of Unfortunate Events in which I was Kit Snicket, A modern Disney one where I was Hades, A mythology rp where I was Persephone, A Prometheus/alien rp where I was just a guard or something but it was nice

I think the trend with all of these is that they closed before I burned out, so I feel like incomplete and I didn’t get closure

I was also in the House of Wolves rp where a lot of us went after Ol closed in which I played Ava (again) and made another character named Quinn and I actually really loved her

Also in Teddy’s Percy Jackson-esque/mythology rp and I loved that too but school was overwhelming so i had to stop rping in general for a while

Also I want to give a shout out to this really cool innovative rp that I was in where the paintings in hogwarts had like come to life and began to like remember more things about their past lives and make new memories and etc it was amazing. I was Rowena Ravenclaw and I made this really cool painting edit of a picture of Deepika Padukone for my theme and I loved it

I was in a series of unfortunate events rp as Kit Snicket for a hot second and I really loved that actually. And a disney characters in real life sort of one where I played Hades with a Tom Hiddlestom fc and that was probably the fastest I had connected with a character, like ever, but pro

I don’t like to reuse FC’s because I tend to associate the actor with my character so it would be hard for me to reuse a character face. That being said, my Kit Snicket, Sarah Gadon, is gorgeous and I would love to make a character with her again so i can continue to look at her face

I’d love to be in a series of unfortunate events rp that doesn’t close in the first 3 weeks it opened

I’ve been in a few superhero rp’s that don’t take off and I think I’d like to make something like that, if I were to make an rp, but I imagine that there might be a lot more in recent years because of marvel but i haven’t checked recently

Do you prefer to admin or be a player?

never been an admin but i feel like that��s too much responsibility for me plus I never finish anything so my rp wouldn’t make it off the ground

What personality type do you think you play best?

I think I play happy characters really well. And I like playing the strong silent characters that have the ~dark past~ but sometimes I get too dark with thea so I prefer happier characters

A character (or character type) you’d like to play in the future:

I’ve never played the stuck-up/pretentious/rich kid tyoe so that would be cool to play, but I think that I would be irritated very easily with the character

Do you think your writing has improved through roleplaying?

oh for sure. I kind of really wasn’t that good when I first started, and then after consistently for (2?) years I was able to improve my writing vastly. I actually feel like my dream of someday writing a book really could be within grasp due to roleplaying and having to plot with people and develop characters and everything

Gif chats or paras?

I like gif chats because I get to look at faces and they are easier, but I also really enjoy inner monologue that i get to do through paras

Have you made any friendships through roleplaying?

Many. I am really bad at keeping in contact with people, but I like having facebooks and tumblrs so I can still keep up with people’s lives

Why did you start roleplaying, and why do you continue to roleplay?

I started roleplaying because I didn’t have a lot of friends in my new town and didn’t really want to make any because I viewed the place I had moved as temporary, so I had a lot of free time and I wanted to write but I wasn’t very good and I wanted to improve my writing 

I stayed because I made a lot of really good friends and learned that I really enjoyed writing and want to keep doing it without having to commit to a whole book

Mun-Directed Questions About Roleplaying!

55. What do you like to do as you reply to threads? Listen to music? Have TV on? Complete silence? Dark room? etc. 

I usually first reply to role-play threads as part of my morning internet routine. So there usually isn’t any music playing, but I might be eating snacks. Then I check in throughout the day, after coming back from class or as a break from homework. 

56. How did you learn about roleplaying? How did you get started roleplaying yourself? 

I first learned about roleplaying through media depictions (tv shows, internet) about D&D. I first joined a LARP in freshman year of college, and first started roleplaying in forums (rather than just writing as an individual) around the same time. My earliest role-plays were on flight rising, as I recall. 

57. What was your first roleplay character? 

My dragons on Flight Rising, I have a different account now and can’t even remember more specifically. 

58. What’s your newest roleplay character?

Corey, a weredog I play in an RP on rpnation. 

59. What/Who is a character you think you would like to roleplay? What’s currently stopping you from roleplaying them?

I think I could role-play Jacques Snicket well. But I don’t really want to change this blog to a multi muse (it feels disorienting). And I really want to role-play as Kit with Jacques, which I can’t do if it’s me and myself. 

60. Who’s a roleplayer (or writer) you think you have learned a lot from?

There are several people in the LARP group that are intimidatingly good at roleplaying. They showed me the importance of small details (voice pitch, subtle inconsistencies to show a character is lying, etc).
