alright.........i finished kh3. so here’s some Thoughts. still gonna put behind a cut, and obvs there will be spoilers there.

so, to try to maintain some coherency, i’m gonna split this up into Good and Bad sections. we’ll start with the Bad, so i can let the salt out, and this post can end on a positive note. XD

The Bad:

some of these are more minor things, and some are.....much bigger, and are actually weakening the strength of the game and the conclusion, imo. so i’m gonna work my way up, from least to most Bothersome.

- the fact that eraqus apologized to ven and aqua, but not terra..........like wooooow, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you know, i was actually considering forgiving you a little bit for a second, but lolololol noooooope!!!!!!!!!!! not anymore!!!!!!!!!!! you fucked up terra even worse than the other two (which yes, damn right you should apologize to them, particularly ven), and really, you are the root cause of him falling into xehanort’s clutches in the first damn place, and you don’t apologize to him?????????? FUCK YOU ERAQUS, YOU PIECE OF UTTER SHIT---

- the resolution with xehanort........like......it’s not bad, per se.........but like.........it’s the tiniest bit of a stretch to me. like..........oh okay, dude, you are totes fine with MURDERING ERAQUS, but now that he asks you to stand down, you do??? when the fuck did you grow a heart and start caring about eraqus??? YOU FUCKING MURDERED HIM THE LAST TIME YOU WERE TOGETHER!!!!! LIKE, IF I CAN BRING MYSELF TO IGNORE THAT DETAIL, THEN THE SCENES WITH THEM WERE TOUCHING, BUT LIKE..........YOU. MURDERED. HIM. THE LAST TIME YOU SAW HIM!!!!!!!! BUT NAHHHH, LET’S JUST CONVENIENTLY IGNORE THAT DETAIL, IT’S FIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE ://///

- namine should have had more screen time, damn it :////// also, i can’t help but feel that aqua got shafted, and wasn’t nearly as powerful a fighter as she should have been ://

- i’m.......not really satisfied with what they did with vanitas? which was basically nothing, really. there wasn’t really any kind of resolution at all. :////

- that moment when everyone was consumed by the demon tide, leaving only sora and riku left, and sora falls to his knees, and is crying and screaming about how he’s all alone, his friends are his power, without them he’s nothing...........oh man, i was RAGING. 

SORA. RIKU IS RIGHT THE FUCK THERE, SO NO, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, YOUR BOYFRIEND BEST FRIEND IS STILL HERE, SO WHAT THE FUCKING HELL ARE YOU ON ABOUT???????? LIKE, I WAS ACTUALLY SEETHING AT THIS, IT FELT SO FORCED AND CONTRIVED, AND HONESTLY OUT OF CHARACTER, BECAUSE SINCE WHEN DOES SORA GIVE UP??? ESPECIALLY WHEN HE STILL HAS RIKU??????????? AND LIKE..........EVERYTHING LEADING UP TO THIS MOMENT FELT FORCED AND CONTRIVED, OH SURE, LET’S HAVE THE MAJORITY OF US JUST.....FUCKING STAND AROUND DOING NOTHING, THAT’S COOL. 

but yeah.......sora saying that he was alone? wow, i was Screaming at him so much for that one, what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck writers. 😡😡😡

- so, onto the big one: absolutely everything to do with kairi

going into this game, she was in the top 3 of the characters i was most worried for, because i was worried that she wouldn’t be given the proper development that she’s deserved and been shafted away from for far too long. and boy was i right to be worried, bc this game, like pretty much every game that came before it, did her dirty. OH WOW LOOK, KAIRI’S A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS AGAIN! OH LOOK, SHE GETS FUCKING KILLED OFF TWICE FOR SORA’S MANPAIN!!!! AND SHE DOESN’T EVEN TRY TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST XEMNAS OR XEHANORT, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS WAS THE WHOLE GODDAMN POINT OF GIVING HER A KEYBLADE IN THE FIRST DAMN PLACE, AND WHY SHE GOT PUT INTO A POCKET DIMENSION WITH AXEL WHERE TIME DOESN’T EXIST SO THAT THEY COULD HAVE AS MUCH TIME AS THEY NEEDED TO BE PROPERLY TRAINED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIKE..........FUCKING REALLY??????????????????????????????

also, sora going off alone to save her at the end..........what the actual fuck. again, they keep trying to force sokai as being soooo important, but guess what? it’s forced and awkward and inorganic, and after the game series i’ve played? i do not fucking believe that she is the person that sora loves above all others. even though the writers had their chances, over and over and over again, to develop their relationship, to make it grow and deepen it, they never fucking did, not even in this game!!!!!! and sora has way more believable romantic chemistry with riku and namine than he’s ever had with kairi, especially riku. you know, the relationship that you ACTUALLY took the time to develop over the entire series? the relationship that you CANONICALLY had “dearly beloved”, the main theme of the entire series, become the song of their hearts? let me tell you, there’s a real cognitive dissonance, looking at the title screen art of sora with the paopu fruit from kairi, while listening to the CANONICAL soriku love song.

so this ending, where sora’s willing to leave RIKU of all ppl behind? wow, that sounds fake, but okay. also, why in the hell is riku letting sora go alone??????? why can’t they both go together? (also: eternally salty that we STILL have not ever really gotten a scene of the destiny trio having any kind of genuine friendly interaction. the closest we ever got was in twtnw in kh2, when kairi helped sora to see riku in asod’s body. yeah, you’re really selling the MAIN trio as friends, here. ://////////)

and like.................THIS is the conclusion i’ve waited ten years for??? sora abandoning all the people he loves and all the friends that he’s actually had meaningful interactions with, for the person he barely remembers as existing half the time? fucking really?? 

and again, this wouldn’t be so bad, if they had JUST ACTUALLY TAKEN THE TIME TO DEVELOP SOKAI AND KAIRI AS A CHARACTER!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAD AN ENTIRE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAD THIS ENTIRE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!! SORA AND KAIRI COULD HAVE BEEN TALKING ON THE PHONE AT THE VERY GODDAMN LEAST FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU COULD HAVE DONE IT, AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE WITH THIS RELATIONSHIP AND THE ENDING, BUT YOU FUCKING DIDN’T NOMURA, AND I LEGIT DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU KEEP ACTING LIKE THE FOUNDATION IS ALREADY THERE, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST SAY “THEY’RE IN LOVE” AND HAVE IT BE BELIEVABLE, BUT YOU FUCKING DIDN’T BUILD THAT FOUNDATION AT ALL, SO INSTEAD IT JUST FALLS FLAT, AND FEELS UNBELIEVABLY FORCED, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU JUST TOSS ASIDE THE RELATIONSHIP THAT YOU ACTUALLY TOOK THE TIME TO DEVELOP LIKE IT WAS NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- no i lied, the actual worst part of this game: SORA DIDN’T FUCKING THANK NAMINE FOR REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! okay. okay. i’m calming down from my rage. i’m breathing. onto the good! bc there was a lot of it! 

The Good:

also known as, the part where i drowned in my own tears:

- the akurokushi reunion was absolutely everything i’d ever wanted it to be, it was beautiful and everything hurt 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

- the tervenaqua reunion was just as good 😭😭😭

(everyone was crying, and i was crying along with them 😭)

- so what i’m getting from the finale arc, is that namine is, once again, the true mvp of this goddamn team, and literally everyone would be lost without her. when they wound up back in time, facing terranort again, she’s the one who summoned the lingering will there to save them, AND I FUCKING LOVE HER, AND SHE DESERVED SO MUCH MORE SCREEN TIME THAN SHE GOT :/

- also, when the lingering will showed up, i was cheering so hard. lol, terra beating the shit out of his own possessed body, round two XDD

- it was a nice moment, when all the keyblades from the wielders of the past war, ending up helping out 

- everything about repliku ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

- wow, luxord’s last moment hit me right in the feels, and is a perfect example of why i love him so much. fair and honorable to the end, and him saying that he’d like to meet up with sora and basically be friends as just people? pls just keep stabbing me in the heart, thanks

- marly thanking sora??? THANKS SATAN

(fuck, the majority of the true org didn’t even want to be there, and honestly, that just makes everything even sadder :////)

- larxene!!!!!!!!! man, i love her. complaining about losing to sora, but then saying that it’s not the worst that could happen, bc being a container for “that old geezer? pass.” LOVE. and then saying that she was just there for someone else, but told sora that it was her secret to keep on who it is......TELL ME, LARXENE!!!! 

- XION WAS A MEMBER OF THE TRUE ORG????????? HOW FUCKING DARE YOU

- BUT HER PROTECTING AXEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALSO, AXEL’S SASS AT XEMNAS WAS LIFE-AFFIRMING 

- ROXAS SWOOPING IN TO SAVE HIS FRIENDS, BASICALLY EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THIS TRIO, WOW WHY WAS I GIVEN EMOTIONSSSSSSSS

- ALSO, GETTING TO TEAM UP WITH ROXAS AND XION, LOVING THIS SONG 👌👌👌

- THAT SCENE WITH AXEL AND SAIX!!!!!!!!!!! AXEL HOLDING SAIX IN HIS ARMS (WOW, THERE’S A LOT OF GAY GOING AROUND HERE), SAIX SAYING THAT HE WAS JEALOUS OF ROXAS AND XION, PROMISING TO SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN, AHHHHHHH

- WELL, I FINALLY GOT MY EXPLANATION FOR WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO TERRA’S HEART. SO, XEHANORT DID SUCCEED IN TAKING TERRA’S HEART OUT OF HIS BODY IN THAT FINAL BATTLE WITH AQUA, AND THAT DARK GUARDIAN HE HAD WAS TERRA’S HEARTLESS ALL ALONG, AND HE SAVED AQUA AND VEN AS A HEARTLESS AND CONFRONTED TERRANORT, AND SORA HELPED HIM REGAIN HIS BODY AGAIN, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS EVERYTHING IS GOOD

- i.....actually really like the conclusion they had for ansem seeker of darkness? he was actually kinda proud of riku, and i just ended up feeling sad for him. 

- i fucking loved that sora called xehanort out, and told him that restarting the world wasn’t his decision to make

- ISA’S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND HE AND AKUROKUSHI AND HAYNER, PENCE, AND OLETTE ALL GOT TO HAVE ICE CREAM TOGETHER ON THE CLOCK TOWER!!!!!!!! AND THEY ALL GOT PICKED UP TO HANG OUT IN DESTINY ISLANDS!!!!!!!!!!

- NAMINE’S RETURN, YESSSSSSSSSS BBYYYYYYYYYY (also, i do ship namiku a tiny bit, so i like the moment that they had)

- XION AND NAMINE HANGING OUT IN DESTINY ISLANDS TOGETHER!!!!

- ALSO, XION, AXEL, ISA, AND ALL THE NEW CLOTHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- well.......idk what’s up with whatever the secret ending is teasing us for, but at least sora and riku are in proximity to each other, and will be together again, i guess. the gays will prevail

- i legit started sobbing, when sora was eating ice cream on the bridge with the big hero 6 gang, and then he flashed to roxas, remembering hayner, pence, and olette ;;;;;;;;;;; THANKS SATAN

i mean....i guess there is precedence for the time travelling, and he was clearly chosen to cause maximum hesitation and pain for sora......but still, pls stoppppp with the time travel already, it makes my brain hurt DX

-  A Q U A    N O O O O O O O O O O 

- i mean, from where i’m sitting she has every right to be angry at being abandoned for so long (which is still ALL YEN SID’S FAULT, AND NO I’M NEVER LETTING GO OF THIS GRUDGE), but my heart just ached for her throughout that whole scene

- i’m really loving that they’re letting us play as other characters, at least a little bit, so i loved playing as riku in the fight

- sora showing up to save riku tho!!!!!!!! also, he and riku performed the ultra mega gay rainbow keyblade attack to free mickey from the darkness......the gayest of all cultures, fam. also, sora jumping in between aqua and riku to protect riku.......... ;;;;;;;;;;;

- AQUA IS FINALLY SAVED!!!!!!!!!! ALSO, HER CRYING UPON HER REALIZATION THAT SHE WAS FINALLY HOME IN THE REALM OF LIGHT, AND EVERYONE GAVE HER A HUG, MY HEART IS HIGH-KEY BROKEN

- getting to fight vanitas as aqua......👌👌👌 man i missed fighting as her

- the entire sequence in which sora wakes ven up and releases him from his heart was beautiful (psst......yen sid, sora gained the power of waking, which you said is what he needed to become a keyblade master.....ahem....)

- also, i loved ven’s first interaction with sora in the flesh XDD

- goofy was so proud in telling aqua that riku was a keyblade master now ;;;;;;

- the funniest thing in this game so far is still vanitas being yeeted in monster’s inc, but the second funniest thing is that everyone was given a gummiphone with summaries of all the plot events and characters, so they could all read up and not be lost in half of the conversations XDDD

- that scene with ven and aqua outside the mysterious tower was lovely ;;;

- that scene with axel and saix on the clock tower........wow, hello darkness my old friend (heh...almost literally). i love that saix just blatantly stole an ice cream from axel (HE BOUGHT AN EXTRA TWO, FOR BOTH ROXAS AND XION, MY CREYS), and just.....i think he just wanted to have a last moment with axel, no matter how things ended tomorrow ;;;;;;

(also, axel’s determination to save “especially roxas”, wow my heart is taking a lot of abuse)

(seriously tho, WHAT GIRL ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT???????)

- repliku is back, at least in spirit!!!! and he’s rather be with riku than in the darkness, considering how much he hated riku in CoM.....this is a Development, and it was yet another stab in the heart

- i am.......not a fan of the sokai paopu fruit scene. i mean......i was bracing myself for it to happen, ever since i saw the art of sora with a paopu fruit on the title screen, but still.......okay, trying to be fair, if i just took the scene as is, without any context from the rest of the series, then it’s sweet enough (though, i wish that kairi, instead of just arguing with sora about who was going to protect who, had rebutted with, “we’ll protect each other”). however, i can’t divorce it from the context of the rest of the series, not really, which means that i cannot ignore the relationship’s pretty much non-existent foundation, not to mention that kairi has been repeatedly shafted as a character, including in this game so far. sokai is not well-written or developed, and so i’ll never be able to get on board with the ship. :////////

(for the love of god, just let them share a paopu fruit between all three of them, sora, riku, and kairi, that way everyone can be happy and no one is shafted and left out, it’s not that fucking hard---)

(also, i’m salty that we still haven’t really had a scene of the main trio actually hanging out together..........come the fuck on, square ://////////)

(also also, just putting it out there, but i’m gonna be real fucking salty if they try to force rokunami on me again, for no other reason than that they have even less chemistry than sokai, and really, it was just another way for the writers to try to force sokai in kh2, even if that ran counter to the whole point of roxas and namine as characters---)

- okay, moving on.......so far, it seems that vexeven is being genuine about wanting to atone and be on team light (and he’s also working on behalf of someone else who wants to desert, but can’t bc they’re a chosen darkness? at this point, my money’s on saix), and he’s recruited demyx to join them (that entire conversation between demyx and vexeven made me laugh XD)

- demyx just casually strolling through a dark portal, and dumping a body at ienzo’s feet, lmaooo

- also, he’s brought ansem to meet up with the nerd herd; that scene of ienzo apologizing to him really broke my fucking heart (even tho really, he was a young child, he should not be held responsible for anything). at least ansem apologized back

- i’m presuming that they’re planning on using this replica body for roxas, seeing as ienzo was just talking about it (also, i laughed at this little conversation with himself XD). i’m....still not entirely sure that vexeven can be trusted, as xehaxem made it clear that they did want roxas back....so this could still be some kind of trick.....

- i’m now at the part, after all the cutscenes, where i’m in the gummi ship, about to depart to the next destination, eclipse something or other. i’m legit scared, it still feels too early for me to be approaching the end!!!! :///

another kh3 Thought (that inevitably turned into More Thoughts) that i forgot to add to last night’s post (spoilers beyond the cut, as always):

that whole moment, where axel asked kairi to start calling him that instead of lea......i wonder if it’s bc that’s what xion used to call him......and so it’s like he’s trying to trigger more moments like the one he just had, so that he can remember her.....hmm.

and on a somewhat related note......ienzo and the others have detected another heart inside of sora, and sora is going with the assumption that it must be roxas’s heart. this raises questions for me:

- does that mean that no one has fucking told him about ven??? i thought, at the end of re:coded, that mickey and yen sid had understood namine’s message, and had realized the location of ven’s heart (within sora), and now they just can’t find his body without aqua’s help. so have they still not told sora this???? (*headdesks into eternity* FUCKING SHARE INFORMATION, JFCCCCCCCCC)

- even leaving that aside, and while i know that no one can really remember xion much rn (tho she was also shown as one of the ppl to save in re:coded, and sora has seen her before in kh3d)....even if we’re going with the (horrible) assumption that roxas and ven have the same heart and therefore are the same person (pls god, nooo....), shouldn’t xion also have her own heart? so shouldn’t there be two or three hearts inside of sora??

(also, yes, i am against the idea that ven and roxas are the same person....i am mildly afraid that it’ll turn out to be canon, but even so, still against it ://///)

and you know, honestly.......if more information is needed, then really, the first priority of person to save should be namine, bc she’s the one who’s actually been on the ball throughout this series, and not only has information but also actually fucking shares it with other ppl instead of just sitting on it (>_____> @ yen sid). fucking hell, the whole goddamn POINT of re:coded was that she was trying to find a way to make sure the critical info was passed on, in preparation for HER OWN DEATH, and even after all of that, that info STILL has not been passed on to sora, bc yen fucking sid and mickey are The Worst. >:(

(yen sid is obvs the greatest offender here, and yes, i am still absolutely furious at him, but mickey isn’t much better in the Actually Sharing Information department. tho to his credit, he’s at least trying to do better and give info to riku, tho he still should have actually passed on the message and info to sora about what went down in re:coded, NAMINE GAVE YOU ONE FUCKING JOB, MICKEY, COME THE FUCK ON--)

(and why yes, i am so fucking mad at yen sid, thanks for asking. like.....the fact that everyone is putting all of the blame onto sora for failing the exam in kh3d is....upsetting. bc you know what? IF YEN SID HADN’T FAILED IN THE FIRST GODDAMN PLACE, NONE OF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED, AND IF HE HADN’T FUCKING FAILED TO SHARE CRITICAL INFORMATION SOONER, THEN ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED!!!!! HE SAT ON CRITICAL INFO IN BBS, HE DID IT AGAIN IN KH2, AND EVERYTHING GOING TO SHIT CAN BE DIRECTLY PINNED BACK TO THOSE MOMENTS!!!! ALSO, AQUA GETTING NORTED??? ALL YEN SID’S FUCKING FAULT, BC HE DECIDED IT WOULD BE “INCONVENIENT” TO SAVE HER SOONER, SO FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU)

i just.....look y’all. part of the reason that xehanort is still such a Problem is bc the lightside utterly fails at actually communicating and sharing information. so tbhhhh, it is past time that the lightside gets its shit together in this department, and it’s Worrisome to me that they haven’t. :///

my continued first impressions of KH3 (i’ve made it up to the beginning of Big Hero 6). spoilers beyond the cut

okay, i’m attempting to go vaguely in chronological order, so here’s some bullet points:

- in hindsight, i suppose that team darkside were using the toy story world to confirm that beings like replicas can actually have hearts, as apparently they want replicas on their team (to fill out their 13 darkness ranks?? idkkk, i have no idea who counts as an Official Darkness or not)

- woody went Off at young xehanort, which i appreciated. also, i noticed that yx seemed to be parroting a few lines from asod (the whole bit about how hearts begin in darkness and that it’s the heart’s true essence), which is curious to me. was yx already saying and believing that before he started time travelling, or is he picking that up directly from asod?

- it’s interesting to me that the conflict in the toy story world did not get resolved. the world is still split in two, and andy and the others are still missing. normally the disney world reaches some kind of conclusion when you complete it, but this didn’t. makes me curious if this is some kind of hint of events to come, or if it’s just...going to be left hanging. hmm.

- while it makes a bit of sense, i’m still kinda mad that, after you complete the world, rapunzel is no longer allowed to be part of your party. yeah, i get that her moveset revolved around her hair, but come on, just give her a frying pan and she can still kick ass! (also, i agree with donald’s statement, that she’s the strong one between her and flynn)

- this whole thing about the New Seven Hearts, and how the power of a princess of heart was apparently “passed on”.....it’s weird to me, and i don’t think it entirely gels with what we’ve been told about them in every other previous game. idk. also.....if rapunzel, anna, and elsa are 3 of the new ones, and presuming that kairi still counts....then who could possibly be the other 3? (also, if kairi is indeed still a POH....then why didn’t hers pass along with all of the others? and what does that mean for the others? did darkness suddenly appear in their hearts??)

- vanitas getting yeeted is the funniest thing that i’ve seen so far XDDD

- i also find it amusing that vanitas has so far been the most straightforward and honest person in this entire game (apart from maybe ienzo), and that he told sora more info in a single conversation than anyone else had in the entire series up to that point

- and i think that monster’s inc has been the best disney world incorporated into the plot so far, in that it makes perfect sense that vanitas was able to recover his strength in this world

- man, i am so glad that larxene is back, i missed her so much, and i’m loving every second that she’s on screen (also, in the conversation that she had with sora outside elsa’s newly constructed ice palace....she wasn’t actually wrong about anything she said)

- you know, all things considered, i’m not surprised that pretty much the entirety of “let it go” was put into the frozen world. (and i’m not really complaining, as i love the song and idina menzel’s singing XD)

- it was kinda a nice surprise that your disney party member in the frozen world was marshmallow, and it kinda made sense, but i’m still a bit salty that anna and elsa weren’t ever your party members

- the moment when sora was listening to anna talk about her relationship problems with elsa, and he realized it was a lot alike what he went through with riku....ouch, that’s a dagger in my heart (....i am.....slightly wary of the greater implications of this parallel, especially when combined with a couple of other possible parallels being made, as i’m not looking forward to the potential double whammy of forced sokai and pulling a no homo on soriku....but if that is the intention, it’s been pretty subtle so far, so i guess i can only hope it stays on this level :/) (and on a related note, i’m not a fan of the fact that sora and riku have barely had any interactions at all, and that riku has hardly had any scenes in general, at least so far :///)

- man, the voice acting for most of the pirates world, and elizabeth in particular, was so bad and boring :///

- with demyx officially being a reserve member of “true org xiii”.....i give up on trying to keep track of who counts for a 13 darkness or not :///

i’m taking a rest break from kh3 (after playing it for nearly 6 hours straight, ahahahaha......the soul consuming has begun........), so i thought i’d make a post about my impressions of the game so far. so, spoilers behind the cut!

so, in no particular order, here’s a list of Thoughts:

- the fact that the olympus world is technically a tutorial/prologue level, and so it actually takes place before kh3 proper (literally before the actual title card), and nomura LITERALLY TITLED THIS SECTION: KINGDOM HEARTS 2.9. I ACTUALLY FUCKING YELLED OUT, “NOMURA!!!!!!!!!!!! NOMURA NO!!!!!!!!!!! NOMURA WHY!!!!!!!!!!” like........i’m both mad and weirdly impressed

- the fact that sora actually has a cellphone now is the funniest fucking thing in the universe to me. and jiminy’s journal is now being stored on sora’s goddamn cellphone (i’m not kidding!!! it’s literally a cellphone!!!!!!!), and he can take pictures and takes selfies with it, and has essentially mobile (mini) games on it........like............this is what we’ve come to

- and tying into this canonical cellphone, the fact that the loading screens are the characters’ instagram posts........(I. AM. NOT. FUCKING. JOKING.), it’s so fucking funny to me, and is kinda amazing. like, when i saw ienzo’s instagram post is when it actually dawned on me what was going on, and i started cackling

- i really liked the new take on the destati sequence this time around! it was super interesting, and quick, so i appreciated it

- just as i predicted i would, i did, indeed, cry through the whole opening song ;;;

- hades and sora’s first reactions upon seeing each was hilarious and priceless

- ALSO, THAT ENTIRE SCENE OF AXEL AND KAIRI?? AXEL GIVING HER ICE CREAM, KAIRI UNKNOWINGLY ECHOING SOMETHING XION ONCE SAID TO HIM (“don’t hold back, promise?”), AND THEN AXEL SEEING XION IN KAIRI, WHICH MADE HIM START CRYING??????? WOW, THANKS FOR HIGH-KEY BREAKING MY HEART, WHY WAS I GIVEN EMOTIONSSSSSSS

- also sora’s determination to save roxas (AND NAMINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) is another thing that is high-key breaking my heart

- everyone’s actually bringing up re:coded, and this pleases me; also sora and data sora saying the exact same things about handling hurt, and donald and goofy commenting on it ;;;;;

- i love that ienzo is definitely on the good guy side; interesting that vexeven has vanished to the dark side tho

- i still don’t fucking get how ansem seeker of darkness and xemnas are still separate beings; weren’t they supposed to be re-completed into master xehanort??

- w h a t   i s   t h e  d e a l   w i t h   t h e   b l a c k   b o x  ??????????

- i’m already sad about aqua ;;;;;;;;;;; (>.> @ yen sid)

- riku, what is the deal with this “other you” that you’re leaving your broken keyblade for????

1. sora running after namine, trying to thank her (WHY MUST YOU KEEP TEASING US WITH THIS AND HAVE STILL NOT DELIVERED, NOMURA???)

2. sora (and roxas probably) crying upon seeing xion (SAME BOYS, SAME)

3. that entire conversation between sora and roxas, when sora FINALLY tells roxas what i’ve been wanting him to hear for years and years: “I wanted to tell you. You deserve as much as I do to be your own person.” (SORA I LOVE YOU FOREVER, THANKS FOR COMING THROUGH FOR ME, YOU’RE A PAL)

since a couple of days ago i finished up playing KH3D on 2.8, here’s some more story stuff that Kills Me:

(it got very long, so i put it behind the cut XDDD)

1. sora remembering aqua from that time when he was a little kid (aquaaaa ;;; )

2. riku trying so desperately to wake sora up every time he sees him ;;;;;

3. sora getting SO FUCKING MAD on behalf of roxas and the rest of the Org that xem and xig lied to them and manipulated them

4. “I know the keyblade didn’t choose me. And I don’t care. I’m proud to be a small part of something much bigger---the people it did choose! They are my power!” (THIS. THIS IS WHY I FUCKING LOVE SORA SO DAMN MUCH, GTFO HATERS)

5. riku remembering a secret he kept when he was little, and wanting “the strength to protect the things that matter, like my friends” (and now i remember him basically totally blowing terra away with this insightful and mature statement, and how in awe terra was and how it moved him to perform the Succession with this kid, and.......my FEELS)

6. mickey’s constant guilt about not being able to save the bbs trio (look mickey, you’ve fucked up a lot in this series, but this wasn’t your fault ;;;; )

7. the irony that, just like the keyblade did, the Norts moved on from riku to sora

8. the fact that riku can no longer be corrupted by the darkness, and that’s why they can’t use him ;;;;;;;;;;;; (BBY YOU DID IT!!!)

9. any mention of “master aqua” ;;;;;;; (JUST.....CALLING HER MASTER, IT FUCKING GETS ME EVERY TIME MAN)

10. donald and goofy’s continuing habit of disobeying mickey, and consequently saving the day ;;; (and their worry over sora later........just, that trio man ;;; )

11. the fact that axel was mostly saving sora for roxas’s sake (and xion’s, tho he probably doesn’t consciously realize that); “promises to keep” ;;;;;;;;;

12. axel’s face upon realizing what’s become of isa ;;;;;;

13. that sora’s last word before falling completely into the darkness/abyss of sleep was riku’s name, and that riku apparently heard this plea ;;;;

14. VENTUS TRYING TO PROTECT SORA FROM THE DARKNESS WITH HIS ARMOR, TO TRY TO SAVE SORA AS SORA HAS SAVED HIM ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

15. after the final final boss with the Armored Ventus Nightmare, and sora sinks away into a pool of darkness, after failing to pull him out, riku just whispers to the heart station floor, “i’ll find you”

18. xion’s delivery of, “riku. what do you wish?” (MY RIKUSHI FEELS FROM THIS ENTIRE MOMENT, DAMN IT)

20. his entire explanation of how hearts regrow, and how remarkable sora is in general

21. that last exchange between between ansem and riku, and the callback to the kh2 prologue; then: my name is ansem / now: it’s riku (HE’S COME FULL CIRCLE ;;;;;;;;;;; )

22. sora hugging the shit out of riku, and being so proud of him passing the test (and just like with aqua, now i’m probably gonna cry every time someone calls him “master riku”)

if there’s one thing that i really don’t like about kh3d, it’s how Exhausting it is to even contemplate doing the last boss fights---specifically, young xehanort/trollanort’s.    >.>

and really, most especially bc of the awful way you have to obtain abilities. like, the fact that certain abilities, like hp boost, only work while the Spirit you got them from is in your party, even after unlocking it, is just......so bad. they partially borrowed the battle system from bbs, but like......bbs was smarter in that it didn’t force you to be locked into using the commands even after mastering them, and they let you keep ALL of your abilities and augmentations. 

and it’s frustrating bc it just....takes so much damn time to level up the dream eaters, especially when there are so many of them, and they all require hundreds and hundreds of link points to complete their link boards. 

it’s just.........a really shitty system, tbh. which is sad, bc again, they borrowed half of it from bbs, which has the BEST gameplay in the series. they just....didn’t take the best parts, and replaced a few key points, and thus kind of ruined the whole thing. :////

man, completing this game must be so damn time consuming

okay, so now i’ve watched KH X Back Cover (khxbc?? khbc???? idk yet), and i have Thoughts. be warned, they are ranty ones. not bc i thought it was bad, but bc that Master of Masters pissed me off, so i need to blow off steam and yell at him. also, i don’t have good opinions of eraqus, yen sid, or ansem the wise, and i’m probably gonna be a bit critical of mickey as well, so if y’all can’t stand hearing some character criticism, then don’t read on. 

also, spoilers. :)

okay, so i think this movie just officially confirmed for me that, all across the board, the lightside mentors SUCK.

(i mean, yes, mickey is the best of them all, and at least he’s trying to be better, and he even gets things right half the time, and at the very, very goddamn least, he can admit when he’s wrong about something, but he still falls into the trap of being too damn cryptic/stingy with the knowledge/missing the majority of the time, etc, so while he’s definitely the best of them, there’s still a lot to criticize there.)

like, seriously, I JUST CANNOT TRUST THIS MASTER GUY. I CANNOT. HIS MANNERISMS AND WAY OF SPEAKING (NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT HE’S MISSING A GODDAMN EYE APPARENTLY) REMIND ME FAR, FAR TOO MUCH OF BRAIGBAR, AND WHILE I LOVE BRAIGBAR, THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A GOOD ASSOCIATION TO HAVE IF YOU WANT THE CHARACTER TO COME OFF AS TRUSTWORTHY TO ANY DEGREE. and tbh, i think this was done deliberately?? but who knows, really.

also, the way he assigned the foretellers these secret tasks, and kept telling each one that their job was the most important one, it just felt so manipulative, and it guaranteed that the group would be torn apart, and i genuinely hate it. it felt like he was deliberately setting them up to fail, to MAKE SURE that things would unfold badly, and this whole scheme of his was practically rigged to generate distrust, and i fucking hate it. it’s an exercise in futility, and it’s like the same feeling of helpless frustration that i get when i see the Days movie, and AkuRokuShi are being torn apart. but at least in Days, there was no pretending that xemnas was anything but a bad guy. 

it just....these lightside mentor figures make me so mad bc they’re supposed to be the good guys, they’re supposed to help the protagonists. they’re not supposed to fucking SABOTAGE THEM INTO FAILING (in this master’s case).

(i’m mad at eraqus and yen sid bc they deliberately sat on critical information and refused to share it until it was too late (YEN. FUCKING. SID. is the worst offender by far), even tho, had they spoken up, then maybe everything wouldn’t have gone to shit. i’m mad at ansem for his abuse of roxas (and others, but mostly roxas), even tho he knew roxas was innocent of the crimes of his former apprentices and had really nothing to do with their feud (so he was just a tool to be used, hahaha fuck you man))

so, yeah. do not trust that guy, not one fucking bit. 

also, i’m mad at all the questions this movie raised. XD tbh, the only thing they explain is trollanort’s comment in kh3d about how his keyblade is more special than the others. (i’m pretty damn sure it’s the same one. .....which of course only makes this Master and Luxo look more suspect (especially Luxo, with that ‘x’ naming theme in there) apparently, there’s literally an eyeball on there that’s seeing the future. o.O

also, WHAT IS IN THE BOX?????? THAT IS NOT A FAIR TEASE!!!!!

so, i didn’t hate the movie, i just spent most of it seething about this Master guy, and feeling sorry for all of the foretellers who were getting the snot manipulated out of them. :/

in conclusion, all of the lightside mentor figures suck, but i’m not convinced that this Master is even playing on team light. :////

so, i got my copy of KH 2.8 today, and have just finished playing through A Fragmentary Passage, and after i’m done writing this, i’m gonna move on to watching Back Cover (and then i’ll play kh3d, but i’m saving that one for last bc i pretty much already know what happens in that game XD).

so, spoilers after the cut, but here’s my reaction so far:

i think the biggest thing i’m taking away from bbs 0.2 is that THIS GAME IS SO CRUEL, WHY ARE YOU GETTING ME SO HYPE FOR KH3 ALREADY WHEN FOR ALL I KNOW IT’S GONNA BE ANOTHER FEW YEARS BEFORE IT COMES OUT? SO HELP ME GOD SQUEENIX, IT BETTER NOT TAKE MUCH LONGER, BC I NEEEEEEEEEEED IT NOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!

also, thanks for high-key breaking my heart. AQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, MY BBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. two of her lines at the end legit made me tear up, so thank god i didn’t have to fight a boss afterwards, bc i would have been EMOTIONALLY COMPROMISED

i think it was really neat that they explained a bit more of what mickey was doing ‘behind the scenes’ in kh1, and i like how they integrated aqua into the plot without it fucking up the canon as we knew it (ALSO HER SAVING RIKU, I AM AN EMOTION)

and on a related note, FUCK YEN SID, HE CONTINUES TO BE THE WORST. RIKU’S FEELINGS WERE MY FEELINGS IN THAT END SCENE. WE EVEN LET OUT AN EXASPERATED SIGH AT THE EXACT SAME TIME XDDDD

AND PRAISE THE LORD, KAIRI HAS AN ACTUAL CHARACTER AGAIN!!!!! HER REACTION TO BEING TOLD SHE HAS TO WORK WITH AXEL NOW WAS FUCKING PRICELESS, AND ACTUALLY LOGICAL AND IN-CHARACTER, A+++

(also, i’m really confused as to why merlin is apparently in charge of training the new keyblade recruits??? like, i get that he could create a pocket dimension for the newbies to train in, but....what does he know about the actual training part of the keyblade?? in the past, he’s only instructed you on magic. i mean, i get that they’re currently short on manpower, but this still seems really odd to me. anyway, YOU BETTER GIVE ME COMEDY GOLD WITH KAIRI AND AXEL TRAINING TOGETHER, BC HONESTLY, HOW COULD YOU NOT???)

also, that whole bit where riku was complaining about mickey taking away his agency? HMM, GEE, I FUCKING WONDER IF KAIRI COULD POSSIBLY RELATE TO THAT.  >.>  i wish kairi had said something to that. :/

i’m not terribly excited about the destiny trio being split up YET AGAIN, but their individual team ups look to be pretty solid. i really want all three to be playable protags, and not just sora, but we’ll see, i suppose. (WHO KNOWS WHEN THO :/)

just got to say, tho, terra looks kinda awful with these graphics, and the disney characters, particularly yen sid, look very plastic-y. 

(speaking of terra, i couldn’t help but squee at the fact that apparently terra’s heart (maybe??????) was drawn to the cinderella world, *quiet terrella screaming* XP

gameplay-wise, i think it was pretty good. not too hard, but not a total cakewalk either (some of those puzzles in the dwarf woodlands really fucked me up DX)

tl;dr, i liked this game quite a bit, but mostly i came away from it immediately wanting kh3. PLS SOMEONE SAVE ALL OF MY SAD CHILDREN ALREADY, AND LET THEM BOOT XEHANORT OUT FOR GOOD AND BAKE A CAKE FULL OF RAINBOWS AND SMILES, AND LET THEM ALL EAT AND BE HAPPY.

I figured that I’d make a separate post to reply to your replies, to try to make having a chat a bit more streamlined (*side-eyes tumblr*) XD

First off, it’s totally no problem at all! I love talking/ranting about KH, it’s definitely a fandom/series that’s close to my heart, so I’m always up for chatting about, so don’t ever feel bad about getting stuff off your chest. Srsly, any time is alright with me! ^^ (I mean, I’m absolutely taking this chance to rant/talk about KH for all that it’s worth too XP)

About Aqua, the intention of my post was that I just wanted to clarify that I could kind of see how others (and not you, necessarily) could read her storyline as being, in a sense, “fridged” by her male friends, and I wanted to offer up an alternative reading, bc as I said, I see it more as she’s the Sora figure, and she is of course being anything but passive in the Realm of Darkness. But those troubling elements are still there, and in the series as a whole when it comes to gender, so I didn’t mean it as a criticism of ppl who find Aqua’s part in the narrative to be iffy. (I....have quite a bit of low-key social anxiety, so I just wanted to further clarify a bit XD) I’m sorry that you feel a bit forced in any way, tho :/

Yeah....my problems with Aqua aren’t even really anything about her as a character, and I definitely don’t see it as being her fault, and I’m not, like, mad at her about it. There’s just....that one scene I mentioned, where I think the writers spectacularly dropped the ball, and unfortunately, Aqua’s character suffered the most from it, imo. There’s really only a handful of the KH characters I truly dislike (....most of them being the Lightside mentors, which I think I’m garnering a bit of a reputation for openly hating them XD); the rest of the time, I’m more mad at the writers than at the characters. 

Oh man, I totally get your Kairi feels. Her canon mistreatment is my biggest peeve with the series, lol, I’m so mad that at pretty much every turn, she’s shafted, especially in comparison to all of the other characters. And like.....I do not understand why!!! Bc Nomura or whoever the hell, has shown that he/they CAN do it better, at least, but they just....don’t, with Kairi, and I just don’t fucking get it. Like, she’s either shafted out of existence, or when she is there, it’s just for all of that forced SoKai nonsense, but even then, she’s still not developed, and she still barely gets any agency. And it’s especially galling, bc she’s supposed to be a part of the MAIN TRIO. Even if she can’t be on the same tier as Sora, who’s the main character of the series, she should still at least be on par with Riku, but....she isn’t anywhere close to that. I’d argue that Riku’s gotten the most development of the series, and with KH3D he’s practically a dual protagonist with Sora now, whereas Kairi, even tho she’s supposed to be Sora’s ~love interest~, is the LEAST developed. So, yeah, I totally get you. XD

And I think there’s nothing wrong with trying to reclaim Kairi, she definitely needs it. Especially since you’re still very aware of the enormous disservice that canon is doing to her, and you’re....idk, very aware of what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, you know? Bc like, while I want to see Kairi get more love and support, I also don’t want ppl to just forget or act like there’s nothing wrong with her in canon. And when I talk critically about Kairi in canon, I want ppl to remember that my problem is with the WRITING behind her, and not the character herself. (This isn’t particularly aimed at you, just something that’s happened in the past :/) And.....idk. I also think that wanting better for one character doesn’t mean that I want that at the expense of others, you know? Maybe it doesn’t happen as much now, idk (nowadays, I tend to be more...selective, about who I talk KH with XD), but I remember back in my earlier fandom days, it was like if you were a fan of one girl (Kairi, Namine, and Xion, most especially), that meant you had to HATE the others (I think this was mostly among the het shippers, and went hand-in-hand with their ship wars over the big het ships), and like, if you wanted better for Kairi, that meant it had to come at the expense of Namine, or whatever. :////

Anyway, my point is, I get it. XD And I don’t think it’s bad to be devoted to a particular character, or to want better for them. Just.....remember to keep it from tipping over the line to being at the expense of others, you know? (I don’t think you’ve done this, from what I’ve seen of you since I followed you, but it’s always good to keep in mind, anyway.)

SO. 

i finished my playthrough of kh2 final mix!!! i mean, i haven’t done ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, like fully exploring the cavern of remembrance, etc, but i went ahead and beat xemnas, and hey, 86% journal completion is not bad at all, really. XD not that that really matters, as i was playing on proud mode, and so got the secret ending anyway. 

anyway, i finished it all at level 71! 

honestly, the hardest boss battle in TWTNW for me was roxas. like, when i first heard that you get to actually fight him in this version, instead of just watching the cutscene, i thought that was gonna be so cool, much excite...but then i actually fought him, and immediately i was like, NOPE NEVERMIND I REGRET EVERYTHING MAKE HIM STOOOOP. XD XD XD seriously, it took me 3 or 4 tries to actually beat him, and in the end, the only reason i won is because i went into limit form and spammed sonic blade. see, the problem with his battle is that roxas is SO FAST, and deals so much damage with every blow, that you run out of items really quickly, and then you’re screwed, because without the ultima weapon’s mp hastega (which is impossible to get at this point), you just can’t recover your mp fast enough to rely on it to restore your hp. this was my problem, even with mp rage and mp haste equipped, and using the circle of life keyblade (as it has mp haste too). so, yeah, limit form is your best friend for this battle. 

surprisingly, the boss fights with xigbar, luxord, and saix weren’t all that hard for me this time around, and the only problems i had with xemnas was the usual one, having to be riku and rescue sora: the first time, it was riku that lost health first and made me start that stage over, but i got it on the second try, because i realized that using that dark aura or cannon move, whatever that was, and attacked xemnas before he can put the barrier up, interrupts him from doing so, so i got to sora without much trouble at all. and as always, riku is perfect in healing me and using items judiciously, and i love him <33333

ALSO. IN FINAL MIX, THEY ADD THIS SCENE, AFTER SORA AND RIKU GET SEPARATED FROM ALL THE OTHERS TO FINISH OFF XEMNAS, WHERE SORA TELLS RIKU THAT HE WANTED TO THANK NAMINE, BUT HE COULDN’T GET THE WORDS OUT, OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, EXCUSE ME WHILE I BURST INTO TEARS ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

(and in a way, now i’m even madder that the writers made that previous scene full of all that shoe-horned in rokunami, and that new scene almost feels like an apology from fucking up that scene by not mentioning anything about our promised sonami payoff in the first place, and WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY)

i mean, i’m glad that i got SOMETHING, at least, but NOMURA, LET SORA THANK NAMINE FOR REAL IN KH3, PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU, DON’T YOU DARE LEAVE ME HANGING. *continues crying forever about sonami*

oh, and those scenes of soriku in the realm of darkness still slay me. just...that whole conversation, where they’re saying that they wanted to be like each other, and then riku is all, “well, i guess there is one advantage to being me. something that you’ll never have. [...] having you [sora] for a friend.” STOP IT YOU TWO, MY HEART CAN’T TAKE IT ;;;;;;;;;;;

(that last akuroku scene, btw, was so not okay...and i wonder, when axel’s talking about whether they have hearts, he says, “you, me, and her”. i wonder...by “her”, does he mean namine....or xion?)

(and in that new scene, where the remaining org is talking about axel’s death, first of all, OMG, I GET SOME ACTUAL XIGLUX INTERACTION, YAY, and secondly...i actually feel really bad for saix, because even as he’s verbally ripping into axel for being stupid and weak....at least to me, you can also hear so much pain behind his words, and they were best friends, and they were supposed to take over the organization together, and now axel,, in saix’s eyes, has made the ultimate abandonment of him, and....ow, my heart hurts. :( ) 

so, now i’m done, and i’ll be trying out my new ps3 games, starting with tales of symphonia! i’ve been meaning to get into the tales series for quite a while now, so i’m curious to see how this goes. (oh, and the reason why i’m starting with symphonia? because it was the cheapest game of the series that they had in stock at gamestop when i was there the other day XP)

this reasoning behind the absent silhouettes is absolutely fascinating. so, they’re planted by the org to awaken roxas inside of sora....i wonder if different surviving members planted different AS? and i wonder what this means for these remnants....do they function like the lingering will and vanitas remnant? hmm. color me intrigued, anyway. XD
