      a small overlook granting those a scenic view of the city from above,       barren save for himself and the other. he would often find himself       here, a quiet place for him to think; to plan. day after day he would       learn more, whether it be of the cities landscape or those that call it       home. but there was still much for him to do, each day taken as a       single step forward.

            ‘ to some this city may appear as the fabled kingdom of heaven.               it may be a new mystery to unravel or a second chance at life.               perhaps to some it is a nightmare that will not end. this city               puts on an illusion, but those which live here are anything but. ’

                                  how foolish they to believe in it                                          but it is not their fault

      he does not turn to face the other, eyes still locked onto the cities       skyline, watching the many lights below from the festival. his words       were not meant to illicit any deep thought (yet they certainly provided       for such), but to spark a start a conversation, should the other feel       inclined. there is a momentary pause before he speaks again, arms       folding behind his back.

            ‘ please, do forgive the ramblings of an old man.               i was simply lost in thought. ’
