Ryuk crunching on an apple served as background noise for the teen’s writing. The ink flowed from his pen as he wrote down every name given to him in news reports or articles, serving as sweet justice in the boy’s eyes. One would say vengeance is sweet; Now Light wasn’t ardent on sweets, but he quite enjoyed savouring each and every stroke of the pen he held in his hand.

A deep, dark chuckle erupted from the god of death as he watched the display in front of him, being widely entertained by Light’s actions.

“So, how many names are you planning on writing daily again? You spend all your time writing names when you’re not at school– or buying me apples– as If you’ve nothing else to do,” The shinigami said, a grin carved on his face.

The teen smiled slightly, finding what the shinigami was entailing humorous.

 “There’s nothing more important for me to do than serve my divine justice, every moment that I'm not writing, someone is out there suffering due to the actions of these people– as the god of the new world, it is my duty to get rid of those people,” He avowed with conceit. There was nothing he was more proud of than the work he did, it spoke for itself as every body dropped by the seconds.

“Hyuk. You sure are confident of the fact you’re a god. You’re not exactly a shinigami even if you have a death note…”

Kira straightened his posture, looking up from the screen on his television to the death note, continuing his writing unbothered.

 “This power alone still lifts me above mankind, I have the choice between who lives and who dies at the swipe of a pen. I will use this to make myself a god and serve humanity, as this world is completely rotten,” He calmly said as he placed down his pen before carefully returning the death note to its hiding spot.

“I wouldn���t expect you to understand. You haven’t lived in this world. You don’t know how important this is: how much I am needed. Without me, the world would rot to its core and disappear, and everyone would suffer.”

Snickering to himself, Ryuk finally conceded. “Alrighty then, Light-o.”

With that, Light got up and headed to bed, passing by the god floating right on the edge of it. It reminded him of when Sayu would cry about demons being on the edge of her bed, but instead, Light has got a god of death watching over him. Light knew he would sleep peacefully that night.

He hesitated as he scrolled through his feed, finding Misa’s post. He was going to ignore it before noticing one key detail: She was wearing his jacket. He took a deep breath, annoyance bubbling inside of him.

“Misa… are you wearing my jacket? The one I asked you about 2 months ago when it went missing? You had told me you didn’t have anything to do with its disappearance.”

He had a hunch it had been Misa, but he never had the evidence to prove it. Now that he has proof with this photo of hers, he can get his jacket back. Seriously, it has been annoying seeing some of his clothing items go missing. Some of his shirts, two jackets, and…

“I know you’ve taken more things. I expect you to give them back, Misa.”

He sighed heavily. He knew she wasn’t going to do that without a fight. He picked up on the insinuation ‘heavenly’, It could be taken as her saying the expression, yet he knew someone like L— he said his name with venom— would pick up on the meaning behind it. Damn him! Without him, he wouldn’t have to worry about such things. Misa should’ve been more careful with her words; He’ll speak with her about it in private. If this stupid action of hers causes any problems for him Light will not be pleased.

Annoyance filled Light to the brim. What the hell did she want from him, exactly? He truly didn’t understand this type of woman. He already caught her, did she just want a fight? What was with her? Misa always asked Light for things he didn’t quite understand the purpose of, or found irritating and a waste of time.

He already took her out on dates as often as possible, and made sure to buy her whatever she wanted whenever she dragged him along to go shopping. He did whatever she pleased as long as it didn’t interfere with his work, and yet that wasn’t enough for her. He would never be enough for her and he knew that, they *both* knew, but she idolised him so much she would never think to leave him.

“Misa… you can’t keep denying it. If you don’t give it back I’m going to search your room for it eventually. My mother gifted me that exact jacket for Christmas! I always wear it for special family gatherings and you’ve prohibited me from doing so.”

He sighed heavily, he really didn’t want to start an argument, especially on the internet where everyone can see. He took deep breaths to attempt to calm himself, Misa’s reactions giving him a headache.

“If you’re in need of clothes we can go buy some new ones together, but you can’t keep stealing my belongings.”

He didn’t understand why he still bothered dealing with her, perhaps it was because she was still useful to him, but sometimes he just wanted to write her name down and be done with it. Now that Rem wasn’t a problem he could easily do so if pushed far enough.

“I have plenty of ways to prove it. I could search your room, for instance. And second of all, there are no other girls, Misa. You keep accusing me of being unfaithful when I’ve done nothing of the sorts.”

He wouldn’t want other lovers in his life to deal with if it were as much of a hassle as Misa. Even if he did went with another woman, he would be risking Misa killing her— killing unnecessarily puts them both at risk; he can’t have that. He had never been attracted to women in the first place, if he were to go out with another person it would be for strategic purposes, and even then he’d attempt to avoid it so Misa doesn’t ruin his plans.
