I think I have already compared how the anime adapted this scene vs how it was portrayed in the manga. And I suppose that you're going by the former since the hints (however subtle) are present in the manga that Light cares for his family (which includes his sister of course).

There's a much detailed & thorough post by tumblr user casuistor about this subject so I really recommend you to check it out.

Okay moving on to your ask.

That may be true if we're going by the anime. But since I prefer the manga (I had read it before watching the anime) and analyze canon through it most of the time, I'll have to disagree with you on that one since the manga does have evidence that Light loves his family.

It's subtler than before the time-skip but it's there. I'll happily point out why I think so.

Light appears to have grown distant from Sachiko & Sayu and that's because of the whole 'Soichiro chose to disown Light (as he disapproved of Misa) & Light ran away to live with Misa' lie they had told them. Yet their (+ Soichiro's) opinions on Kira matter to him:

You do not try to convince people of something as important as your secret ideology if you don't at least care about those people (read: Light cares about his family).

Despite being a lil distant, Light & Sayu haven't lost their playful teasing/bantering kinda relationship as Light compliments Sayu on jokingly rejecting Matsuda and Sayu teases Light about marriage.

I'll discuss Sayu's kidnapping in the next section of my answer (see also: my linked post at the beginning). To sum it up: Light puts himself to a disadvantage (as Kira) to save Sayu.

I believe these words are very genuine. Light has, from idolizing his father, grown to disapproving his self-sacrificial (his putting justice above family) nature. He reminds his dad how hard it'd be for the family if he leaves them behind and makes him promise that he'd do his best to have both of him & Sayu live. Observe closely how not letting the Note to Mello isn't the priority but rescuing Sayu is the first thing on Light's mind.

He also asks Soichiro if he & Sayu are okay as soon as he gets the opportunity. Not a word about lamenting the loss of Death Note but a simple are you okay?

After a few days, Mello contacts Soichiro again (the latter's phone is to be kept on in exchange for the former not killing him). And asks him about the new L's identity and threatens to kill Sayu if Soichiro doesn't answer.

Observe Light's face here. It's very clear that he's having a great difficulty in making a decision: either tell Mello L's identity & risk getting killed yourself or refuse Mello's demands resulting in his dad & sister's death.

He seems to be actually considering surrendering his name to Mello to save Sayu & Soichiro! (But it doesn't come to that as Matsuda offers his name instead)

My argument is this: if Light didn't have any affection for his family in the second arc (as you say), then why did he hesitate to plainly refuse to answer Mello's question (a question which is too risky for the new L's life)?

The answer's plain & simple: He wouldn't seriously consider to give Mello his name if he didn't care for his family. Thus, he does hold affection towards his family. Period.

I can go on & about how Soichiro's death devastates Light but a picture is worth a thousand words:

I do believe that his tears are very genuine here; Light's crying does Not have crocodile tears behind it- in other words I think Light is VERY upset by his dad's death so much so that he loses his cool that Matsuda has to physically restrain him:

After Soichiro's death, he tries to emotionally distance himself from that tragic event (referring to said event by the impersonal 'them attacking Mello's hideout' rather than smth vulnerable to Light i.e. 'his dad's death'):

He's trying his best to avoid explicitly thinking about his dad's death, choosing to drown himself into his work instead: so much so that Matsuda is concerned about him:

And he acknowledges the risk of his identity as 'Light Yagami' is L being revealed to Near just because of him staying quiet after his dad died like he is THAT affected by it and trying to hide that fact.

I hope you can see that Light cares about his father. Let's get back to the topic of his regard towards his sister.

To prevent his plans from being ruined, he attempts to kill her after she is abducted, but doesn't only because it wouldn't make sense for Kira to do that.

I have discussed at length why that is not the case in the manga but here's the gist of it. I tried to keep it short. I really did.

The NPA director Takimura is kidnapped first -> Other NPA heads are duly notified -> Light kills Takimura without a moment of hesitation, assuming that the kidnappers will take the fall for his death (it's part of Light's keikaku plan so that Kira won't be blamed for his murder. And since only the kidnappers and the NPA know about the kidnapping: it won't be assumed that Kira has any link to the NPA) -> the kidnappers do take the blame themselves (just as planned!...)

(...not. as: ) Sayu is kidnapped -> Mello instructs them to not notify the other NPA departments lest they kill Sayu -> Ide pressures Soichiro to notify other NPA personnel out of obligation, Soichiro agrees to throw his daughter under the bus. and. then-

Light does a complete 180 and says outright to the task force that it was probably Kira who killed Takimura (instead of y'know killing Sayu immediately to stop the exchange like he did with Takimura) -> essentially arguing against notifying other NPA members (to save his sister actually)

This sudden change in Light's plan (from having the kidnappers blamed for Takimura's death to Kira being blamed instead) is actively detrimental to Kira's cause since only the kidnappers and the NPA personnel know about Takimura's kidnapped and suggesting that Kira is behind Takimura's murder implies that Kira has ties to NPA (remember that Light is now a part of that NPA) so not a win for our Light-o.

Also, if he was really serious about killing Sayu- he had two easy, very easy options:

1. Do nothing.

That's it. Remember Soichiro was ready to notify the other NPA personnel (Ide pressures him to do that). Thus, if the NPA (apart from the task force) made any move, the kidnappers as per their threat would've killed Sayu themselves.

If Light didn't jump in to rescue his sister (coz that's what he did in canon) by offering an alternate possibility of Kira being behind Takimura's death, Sayu would've ended up dead.

2. Kill Sayu himself at the best opportunity (which was when he had just heard the news about her kidnapping; not unlike how he wasted no time to kill Takimura).

But Light far from considering these options (*holds a neon sign reading 'LIGHT DOES NOT WANT TO KILL HIS SISTER AS HE CARES FOR HER'*), goes "hey, is anyone gonna save my sister?" and does not wait for an answer which he's already gotten what-with even his father agreeing to notify the NPA personnel which would've resulted in her death.

So no I don't agree with you when you say "To prevent his plans from being ruined, he attempts to kill her after she is abducted, but doesn't only because it wouldn't make sense for Kira to do that." since the reason it wouldn't make sense for Kira to kill Sayu was because of Light himself blaming Kira for Takimura's death (he did that to save her otherwise the police would've moved and the kidnappers would've killed her anyway).

The result of Light's actions? Now if he were to kill Sayu after revealing the real murderer behind Takimura's death, the list of Kira suspects would narrow down to...the task force as they are the only ones who know about the kidnapping other than Mello & his gang. Light is canonically a genius so why would he do something like this to jeopardize his own previous plans? The answer is simple as Ryuk points it out.

Light has a soft spot for his sister. I have elaborated on this in my above linked post so this is a bit redundant to say the least. (not that I mind your ask! I love discussing the tragedy of the Yagami siblings to anyone who'd care to listen.)

With Light you cannot take his reactions (or lack thereof) at their face value. He's more complex than that.

The following scene (in which we see Sayu visibly showing her disdain for Kira since he's the reason why their dad is so busy that he couldn't come for New Year's.

And Light's eyes are hidden as they usually are when he's feeling emotionally conflicted. He can't stop being Kira however that doesn't mean he likes causing his family misery indirectly.):

His dad is dead because of him being Kira. I'm not saying Light is the direct cause of his death. Far from it, as Light had intended Matsuda to have the eye deal and die for it, but instead his dad had volunteered which wasn't according to his keikaku. Still Light being Kira is of course an indirect cause to Soichiro's death and the idea isn't lost on Light.

He likely feels very guilty for the same and cannot bring himself to face his remaining family. Sayu's current state (her in a wheelchair after the kidnapping) was indirectly caused by him being Kira as well. It isn't hard to imagine that Light has difficult feelings about that too. I'd argue that his lack of a reaction IS the telling factor of how much he cares actually.

He cares to the point of not daring to meet the rest of his family's eyes after the two incidents (Sayu's kidnapping & Soichiro's death). He cares because he is the cause of the Yagami family being the most tragic. He cares because no matter what he told Ryuk, that he'd be the exception to the rule of Death Note users being faced with misfortune, he now knows that he isn't that exception with his own family in shambles.

Death Note is a tragedy because of how much Light Yagami cares.

NAOMI MISORA (DEATH NOTE)

1.) I know everyone is gonna submit Misa but honestly she had it worse.

She gets introduced as this competent lady who’s gonna help find Kira but then she just, decides to show some teenager her real ID as a show of trust and whoops that’s Kira.

Also part of her introduction was her fiance going “You don’t need to worry about this tracking down the killer nonsense, you’re gonna be my wife, you should just be worried about raising kids in the future :)” or some shit. And it’s barely addressed, because she just fucking dies.

2.) She was the only woman in the series to show any level of competence. She figured out more about how the death note works from some small context clues than L did in considerably less time. She was apparently so competent that the author decided to kill her off despite initially planning to make her a main character, fearing she would distract from the L and Light rivalry.

3.) the victim of “writer doesn’t understand women and also hates them” disease. Like, seriously, the author of Death Note could only imagine a female FBI agent as the fiancée of another, more senior FBI agent. The main character Light kills her fiancé Raye Penber (in honestly a really tightly written and cool episode) and so she tries to figure out who killed her husband. Unlike Raye who only figured out that Light was Kira as he was dying because Light basically told him, Naomi figures it out a lot sooner so oops guess she’s gotta die because she’s too good at her job.

ORIHIME INOUE (BLEACH) (CW: Child Abuse, Ableism)

1.) Her powers were incredibly versatile but only ever used for healing or defense. She had offensive capabilities too, but as she isn’t an aggressive person, they were barely ever used. Her healing power isn’t so much healing as it is “rejecting” the existence of something. This power could have been so insanely strong, to the point that even one of the show’s major antagonists remarked on how frightening it was, but as I said, it was only ever used for healing, and her personality held her back from using it as an attack. She was kidnapped by said antagonist for an entire arc. I’m not even going to get into the amount of times she was used for fanservice. Fandom opinion on her varies WILDLY.

2.) I realized I hadn’t added enough the first time, but I also don’t know how much I added the first so:

She’s introduced as a character to be saved. Most are, though, even the boys and men in this arc It’s also mentioned in the manga that she had horribly abusive parents, to the point the second her brother turned 18 her grabbed her and ran. This fact is removed in the anime. The evil ghost attacking her turns out to be the degraded ghost of her brother.

She in general, in light hearted moments, spends a lot of time being sexualized. Of the minor characters (as in under 18), she is the one that is sexualized the most. Usually against her will, with people making creepy remarks (despite not wearing very revealing clothes… Which Is true to life. It’s because she has big breasts).

She then gets cool abilities, but she’s the only one of the group not to get a big fight in the Soul Society arc.

She is then the SECOND female character in need of a big rescue arc (while I agree with how it was written for both female characters, intertwined with the other ones’ ingrained following of a horrible system and neglect by her adopted family and for Orihime a desire to prevent any friends from dying, the fact is the third major arc like this has a male character “defect”. So rescued are only for the girlies). During that arc she goes through a lot of psychological horror and pain that I will defend her choices in to the end. She is built up, in that arc, however, as someone whose healing abilities aren’t really healing and instead rejection of reality/rewriting reality. She is also built up as the person who may be able to destroy the Nebulously Powerful artificat that was at the center of this arc and the twist motive of the antagonists in the previous arc. And… Nothing happens. She doesn’t get to do it.

She gets some cool things in the next smaller arc, but also gets psychically fucked with (while all of them do, she doesn’t get to have the power ups or later fights. And her previous arc was her just… Being psychologically tortured).

The end arc is complex because, yes, it was rushed because the creator was injured. But her “cool” moment -while a triumph and circling back to character development - is that she gets to be in a duo-fight briefly with the main character. Not the last fight against this boss. And she never gets to do anything cool with objects or breaking things, both which would fall under her being a pacifist still.

I disagree with a lot of discourse about her being infantalized, because she seems very ADHD-I coded, as someone who has that. That doesn’t mean the author meant her more than just a “weird” girl, especially with how the state of ADHD treatment is in Japan . So we can throw in some ableism. Which gets me to the anime adaptation.

The anime was made by Studio Pierrot, which has a reputation with adapting female characters from manga to anime. Esp cially in shonen anime.They DID infantalize her (ex, changing a daydream comment from about the main guy to pee and poop??), including removing many of her daydreams and context, changing her intro scene, removing more introspective moments (she is very emotionally intelligent in the manga), and removing moments with the main protagonist. The latter is an issue because they added moments with another female character, which implies their attachment to either is solely in favor of romantic scenes with the male lead

In the arc that literally centers around her, she is described as having a power that infringes on the territory of God because she can Reject events from happening (this usually manifests in her "rejecting" people's wounds giving her pretty much The Perfect healing ability). There is a lot of emphasis placed on this and on her personal arc about how she feels pretty weak and useless compared to her friends, so she figures out that there is something that Only She Can Do! Which is, Reject the Macguffin from ever existing. And guess what she never gets the opportunity to do? And instead watches her LI (the main character) fight multiple people on her behalf and literally die in front of her and resurrect himself through sheer force of HIS will, not hers? (Like, OK, granted that sheer force of will was born out of his strong desire to save her, but it still isn't anything SHE did.)

In later arcs, she does get more of an upgrade power-wise but it's nowhere near the scale that was implied earlier on. (this might be more because it's a difficult thing to write around if it's really that OP, but I still side-eye it a bit) And in the final arc, she's given a pretty sexualized outfit that's both given explicit attention and also played for laughs, but in a way that feels very much at HER expense.

Relationships

She's aligned with Team L!! of course dnsjhd

Rie and L have a funny relationship because they've worked together for a while and seem close but aren't together (as far as the TF know at least. I'm not sure yet to what degree her relationship with L has progressed at the time the anime is set). but everyone who meets them goes: "a girl in love and a man who's apathetic"

She actually likes Light a lot, because he's a nice guy, when he's not Kira. would be friends with him in another life.

When it comes to 「Kira」 whoever they may be, she dislikes but understands them. She knows that there are problems in the world and a lot of them stem from "evil people", but she doesn't really believe in purely evil people, and also realises that Kira's methods are counterproductive.

Rie does NOT get along with Misa. she can tolerate her but only in small doses. She's always kind to her, though this is mostly so she can try to get information out of her.

As for the rest of the Task Force: Likes them all. She never met Ukita though cause she introduces herself a while after L does in my current plan. Thinks Matsuda is a little naïve and Chief Yagami is blinded by his love for his son.

At the moment I'm thinking Rie isn't an orphan but lived somewhere near Wammy's House when she was little. She loooves annoying Near, Matt and Mello.

Lore So Far

there's a lot of unrefined stuff, what I have here is likely to change

I mentioned beforehand she works with L for a few years before the Kira case. she actually spent a lot of her life tracking him down, basically just to play with him/annoy him because... she's just an ass like that. So eventually she was able to contact him and they played a Game of cat and mouse, detective vs detective (I have a minific written for this that I might share. also Rie's not quite a detective... kinda a vigilante? not sure how to explain)

my current plan is she ends up getting stuck in a situation like Light was, where L suspects her for a case (she hacked into his database and deleted all his files) and has to work with her and keep an eye on her. I'm considering that she purposely got caught bc she was in trouble with more dangerous people, but maybe L catches her because, well, he's the world's greatest detective and the dangerous people just encounter Rie later

she's eventually cleared of suspicion because she wasn't involved in the cases she wiped, she just deleted them to be annoying and win the Game. Rie sticks around to annoy L for a while but then in come the dangerous people!!

the reason for this isn't fully fleshed out yet, but she gets herself kidnapped and once they realise she worked with L they try to get information on him out of her (through torture pretty much). this bit is the bit I'm probably least happy with, I want to work on it more. but in the end her stomach gets cut open, she escapes and collapses/gets rescued, and L realises he can trust her.

Rie goes to various countries and does her own thing for a few years, occasionally assisting L on cases, before she comes to Japan for the Kira case

there's so much Kira related stuff that I think I'll make another post sometime haha.

but that is the simplified and unrefined version of her backstory!

Personality

a proud feminist!! because come on death note needs one. (I know I said earlier she likes Light and dislikes Misa but the way he treats her ticks Rie off)

that said she's a good person overall, has done suspicious contract work and whatever, but she loves people and she really cares for everyone in her life

Pretty analytical but definitely has and expresses emotions. Probably INTP but I'm not great with MBTI tying.

a sore loser. But instead of trying to win, she will just give up if she knows there's a chance of losing. that way she can tell herself that it was her decision and thus, she won.

Strengths

she's the smartest woman in the world!! because honestly it is a crime that all the smart people in death note are men and hey, it's kind of cool to make an oc who's the anything-est in the world. (I wouldn't say she's REALLY the smartest, she just has a fairly wide skill set and is intelligent. maybe the highest-achieving)

Well she hacked L's main databases so I think you can tell she's good with technology

Her major in uni was psychology! Criminal and maybe abnormal psych, that is. also has dabbled in sociology and neurology. Rie knows a lot of languages.

A cheerful presence, good at raising morale and making L seem more approachable and likeable to the Task Force. usually optimistic.

Weaknesses

I know I just said she's optimistic, but this is because she makes a conscious effort to be. Rie's got a lot of anxiety and worries, and struggles with several mental health issues.

Her pride is as bad as L's ego. Actually, she'd claim it's worse.

When she gets angry she gets ANGRY. will straight up punch someone in the face and yell for hours.

Rie has a cat! her name is Synonym, nicknamed "Sin"

her favourite flowers are hydrangeas, bluebells, and roses (she's got a literal guns and roses aesthetic going on). Her favourite trees are wisterias and her favourite animals are either otters or elephants.

She's autistic (totally not because I'm autistic and can't write a neurotypical character)

Rie is actually just an alias. I'm debating on, if she lived near Wammy's, she might have met L and this would be a nickname derived from her middle name. but then I have to explain the "woah memory loss!!" in the whole database/suspicion incident. so, it's probably just a name that she likes. or maybe she shortened her own middle name.

The full alias is Rie Takamura. She also goes by Hina Suzuki (Japanese equivalent of Jane Doe) and 1429 (fourteen twenty-nine).

SHE LOVES CASINOS. her theme song would probably be "Joker and the Thief" (or maybe not, but it's in my playlist for her). Rie's very careful not to let herself get addicted to gambling but gosh she loves going to a casino, pretending to be a dumb girl, and counting cards until she can sweep the table off its legs.

Iruu Kagan Romanov

Breed: Karat-cat (Syaran)

Rank: Omega

Iruu Romanov is a member of the B.I.R.D. combat units, as well as a close friend of Miru whom he has known for many years. It is a Syaran, a Karat-cat, easily recognizable by its animal ears and tail that it struggles to make disappear when it is in its human form. Normally, this problem only affects young Karats, so it is a very sensitive subject for him.

As a cinere affiliated with the B.I.R.D., he is often sent to the field as support. He is indeed an excellent strategist.

Versatile, he is able to fight hand-to-hand and use firearms with formidable precision.

When the organization sets a trap for Kira, he participates in the operations but stays with Miru and Kazuhiro. When the situation degenerates, he intervenes by their side to rescue Anna and then flees with them until their vehicle is immobilized by the chimeras of the Red Alpha.

Spoil: 

Saved in extremis by the fate that KiRah set up before dying to protect Miru, Iruu can only observe the events and curse his own impotence.

When the chimeras attack the bridge on which they are, Iruu catches up with Miru just in time while she fails to fall into the water. Injured, he nevertheless ends up letting go and sees the young woman sink into the mouth of a new chimera. He himself is about to succumb when Black saves him and then sends him to waltz in "safety".

Spoil: 

Now protected by Black's chimeras, he finds the rest of the group, including Miru, who had actually fallen into the mouth of an allied chimera. Understanding the situation, he made the decision to take the group to a safe place against Miru's advice. He knows that in this way, Black will be more free of his movements.

Once Kira put offside, he notices that Tarot, or rather Black, has spotted an opponent his size in Toru. Aware that a new confrontation between these two can only be synonymous with destruction and disaster, Iruu is doing everything possible to prevent them from coming into contact with each other. Using his powers, he freezes Black's chimeras, forcing him to make the way on foot. He then goes himself to face Toru, who has lost all control over his demon, even if he knows that he has little chance of survival.

During the confrontation, he does his best to protect Aki but he is not tall and is seriously injured.

Spoil: 

Nevertheless, he ends up defeating Toru by snatching part of the seals that block his human consciousness. It is then revealed that its true animal form is that of a white tiger.

At the end of the confrontation, Toru, who has regained consciousness, informs him that he has officially acquired the status of Alpha since the Black Alpha has acknowledged his defeat against him.

Still a few episodes left to catch up on, just watched episode 29, in which the Cures finally meet Niko in person and learn how the animals they've been rescuing were turned into Garugaru.

The episode begins with Komugi being woken up by Niko's egg shining brightly, other animals in town also sensing it, including Daifuku and Yuki. Seeing the egg beginning to hatch, Komugi quickly wakes up Iroha. The two gather the others, and they watch as Niko emerges from her egg. Mey-Mey is overjoyed to finally have her back, and explains to Satoru that she is known as the Diamond Unicorn. As Niko is about to speak, the group wait in anticipation to hear what she's about to say. After observing them for a moment, Niko cheerfully introduces herself.

Iroha and the others introduce themselves to Niko, gradually explaining what's been going on. Mey-Mey is initially worried when Niko finds out he'd failed to keep the Niko Garden a secret as promised, but thankfully the others vouch for him that it wasn't his fault that the secret got out, to which Niko decides to let it slide.

Niko wants to go back to Niko Garden, and notices the Cures have the emergency trunk. She is initially angry that Mey-Mey gave it to them, until he points out that it was an emergency, and so she lets it go. Niko teleports to Niko Garden ahead of the others, and upon arriving in Niko Garden, they see that a large crowd of animals have gathered to witness her return.

While having tea, the Cures ask Niko about what happened the day the garden was attacked. Niko explains that it was the doing of Gaou, who was once the leader of a wolf pack. With his power, he turned a lot of animals into Garugaru, and Niko was the one who trapped them in egg form, temporarily sealing them away. She laments that she couldn't do more to stop it.

Elsewhere, Gaou can sense that Niko has reawakened, and wondering what's been going on with the beasts he unleashed, decides to call upon his two allies, Zakuro and Torame, to go check on the situation. The two of them come across a Garugaru egg, and decide to enhance it.

Sensing something is going on, the Cures return to Animal Town, and spot several animals fleeing as the sky grows dark. They encounter Torame and Zakuro, the former enhancing the Garugaru egg with his power, leading it to hatch into an even stronger beast. With Komugi commenting on its "Gaogaon" cry, Torame decides that's as good as any name for the stronger beast and orders it to attack.

The Cures transform, and initially try to talk the villains out of fighting. However, the two of them quickly make it clear they have no intention of becoming friends with humans, reminding the group that it was because of humans in the past that the wolves in the area went extinct. The Gaogaon multiples, the Cures struggling to deal with it and its three duplicates, and soon discover that their purification moves won't work on them.

The Cures are ultimately defeated, but before the Gaogaon can deliver a finishing blow, the two villains hear Gaou summoning them back, so they decide to leave and let the Gaogaon go on a rampage elsewhere. The Cures are left shaken up and unsure of what to do, especially Iroha.

Really good episode! We finally meet both Niko and the villains of the season, and I'd say it was worth the wait. The designs of both Torame and Zakuro are great, both their wolf forms and especially their human forms. Gaou himself looks pretty cool too. And I figured a stronger variant of the Garugaru would be introduced sooner or later as well.

As for Niko, her design is cute, typical Pretty Cure mascot-esque design. When I first saw her face the first thing that came to mind was Kirarin from Kira Kira Pretty Cure A La Mode, though. Or I guess a combination of her and Pekorin's (also from Kira Kira Pretty Cure A La Mode) faces. Well, considering how many mascot character they've designed over the years, I guess some are bound to look similar.

I'll be looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Chapter 1: The Fall of Sabal

I pointed the rocket launcher at Pagan Min's helicopter at the royal palace of Kirat. I took a deep breath and pulled the trigger, seeing the explosion in the sky. I felt a mix of relief and remorse. Had I made the right choice? Pagan had revealed that Lakshmana was my half-sister, the result of his involvement with Ishwari, my mother. Mohan, upon discovering the betrayal, killed Lakshmana and tried to kill my mother, but Ishwari reacted and killed him in self-defense. After that, she fled Kyrat with me. Pagan then decided to hand over Kirat to me, which awakened my desire to rule the country and honor the memory of my family. I wanted to transform it into a modern democracy. I sometimes wondered if Pagan was the only sane one in that country of madmen. I remembered his crimes and his tyranny. I knew that Pagan was not a kind leader. He dominated Kyrat with cruelty and ostentation, using his militia to intimidate the people and profiting from drug trafficking. I remembered all his evil deeds, which included torture, mass murder, betrayal, corruption, destruction, kidnapping, propaganda, slavery, prostitution and animal cruelty. He wanted to end the traditions of Kyrat and prevent the progress of the country. He deserved to be tried by the Hague Tribunal for his crimes, but there were still those who defended him. That was one of the reasons why we lived in a violent world, dominated by autocracy and corruption.

I knew that Pagan had to fall. But I didn't trust Amita, the leader of the Golden Path who dreamed of turning Kyrat into a drug empire. I made a vow to myself to never become a despot like Pagan Min and to defend Kyrat and its people. I wished that my mother and sister would feel proud. The snow of the Himalayas covered everything with its beauty and its cruelty. I thought of Bhadra, the girl I had met in this war. She was the only one I cared about in that insane country. She was like a younger sister, or the only friend. I knew she was destined to be the Tarun Matara, the reincarnation of the goddess Kira. She would be exploited by the religious fanatics of Sabal, just like my mother had been exploited by my father. I couldn't let that happen. I have to rescue her.

Ajay heard the noise of a helicopter and recognized the voice that came from it, it was Hurk: Hey, brother! Want a ride? Ajay: are you sure this helicopter is safe? It looks kind of old and rusty. Hurk: Chill out, man. This is my baby. I fixed it up. It will fly like a turbocharged eagle. Ajay: That doesn't make me very confident. Hurk: Trust me, brother. Ajay arrived at Ghale Residence with a heavy heart. He had just learned the whole truth about his father, his mother and his little sister, and the farce that was the Golden Path. One thing didn't leave Ajay's mind: Bhadra. He couldn't allow an innocent girl to suffer what his mother had suffered at the hands of his father. Ajay remembered the sad look of Bhadra when she was taken to become Tarun Matara. The sadness in her green eyes contrasted with her beauty, which had fascinated him since the day they met. She had a great admiration for his father, but if she knew the truth, it would be a great disappointment. Ajay felt a fondness for Bhadra, as if she were his sister. He wanted to protect her from all the evil that plagued Kyrat.

Suddenly, the radio rang. It was Sabal.

Ajay, Pagan is dead. - he said with a solemn voice. Brother, it's over. I can hardly believe it. Did you find Lakshmana? - Sabal asked with enthusiasm. Yes, I did, Sabal. My mother can rest in peace now. Thank you. - Ajay replied coldly. Kirat is free, brother. Thanks to you. Mohan is also resting in peace now. Come home. I'll need a right-hand man to bring Kirat back to its roots. - Sabal said and hung up. Ajay felt a wave of anger and contempt for Sabal. Right-hand man? I had done all the dirty work and now Sabal wants to use me as a puppet? I won't let Sabal turn Kirat into a theocracy. I won't let Sabal do to Bhadra what my father had done to my mother: use her as a religious and political instrument, without caring about her feelings or desires. Ajay turned off the radio angrily and left Ghale Residence. He was tired of hearing Sabal's lies.

He went to visit his neighbors Reggie and Yogi. They were lying around doing nothing as usual. What a waste of life, he thought with contempt. He wouldn't tolerate them smoking near Bhadra when she came to live with him. She deserved more respect and consideration. Reggie: Hi, neighbor. Yogi: Ah! Mr. Ghale. Well, I guess that's it, then? Reggie: No more panic and destruction?

Yogi: Are you going to retire the old rocket launcher? Reggie: Put it on the shelf, the way it was: collecting dust. Yogi: Unless… Reggie: You have unfinished business? Maybe? Loose ends to tie up? Yogi: Or people you need to kill. Reggie: That's what I said, Donald. Yogi: My name is Yogi. Ajay said goodbye coldly and crossed the small stream. He thought to himself: "Sabal, I'm not your brother. I'm not your right-hand man. I'm the king of Kyrat. And I will free my people from the oppression of you and Amita". He muttered, with hatred. He had a mission: to rescue Bhadra, the young girl he considered a sister, the young girl he promised to protect. Ajay contacted Hurk by radio and asked for one more favor: that he take him by helicopter to Jalendu, where he had to save a princess in arrived at the Jalendu Temple with the intention of finding Sabal and Bhadra, the leaders of the Golden Path. He wanted to end the conflict that plagued Kirat and free Bhadra. But what he saw left him horrified. Sabal was at the entrance of the temple, with the rebels who supported Amita, the other candidate for the leadership of the Golden Path. All tied up and on their knees. He shouted, ordering them to be executed, making an insane speech.

You chose to fight against your own people. By taking Amita's side, you decided that you would make your own legacy and spit on the Gods. Now you kneel before the Tarun Matara, asking for forgiveness. No, no. Where was all this forgiveness when you massacred your brothers and sisters? You committed crimes against the very Gods. That's why I tell you: today you chose to cut your own neck. I don't.

Bhadra was sitting on a throne, dressed in ceremonial clothes. She seemed to be in a trance, as she did not react to anything. She looked at the void with a cold look. Ajay felt a pain in his chest when he saw Bhadra in that state. He couldn't believe that Sabal had done that to her. He couldn't let Sabal continue with that madness.

Wait, what about Bhadra? — asked Ajay, interrupting Sabal.

Now she is the Tarun Matara. The sins against the Gods can only be erased with blood. Purification is necessary to move forward, brother. — answered Sabal, with a crazy look.

The Tarun matara does not object? And you? - accused Ajay, with a furious look.

Ajay, what objection will Bhadra make? Are you crazy? She is in shock. For hours I think Amita was right. You have other intentions with Bhadra. — said Sabal, with contempt.

Bhadra? She is your hostage, Sabal! You are using her as a symbol to manipulate people! She is a girl, not a goddess! — said Ajay, indignant.

You don't see what you did to her, Sabal? She is catatonic! She doesn't speak, doesn't move, doesn't feel anything! She is a shadow of what she was before! You destroyed her! — shouted Ajay, pointing to the motionless girl.

When the Golden Path soldiers were going to attack Ajay, they heard howls of wolves and saw Bhadra with a bloody face. She seemed to cry tears of blood. They were horrified by the scene and knelt down, begging for forgiveness. They said that Sabal had awakened the wrath of the gods and that Ajay was the chosen one and the new leader of the Golden Path. Sabal fell to the ground, moaning in pain. Ajay ran to Bhadra and hugged her. She was cold and pale. She did not react to his touch. Her eyes were empty and her face expressionless. She seemed to be in a trance, disconnected from reality. Ajay felt sorry for her and angry at Sabal. How could Sabal do that to her?

Bhadra, it's me, Ajay. I came to free you. Let's get out of here. Let's go to Ghale Residence. There you'll be fine - Ajay said, stroking her face. He saw the fear in her green eyes, which looked lost and empty. Suddenly, she looked into his eyes and began to speak in a strange language that he did not understand. He carried her in his arms and left the temple, avoiding the corpses that Sabal had left behind. He got into his helicopter and flew as fast as he could away from that hell. When he got close to Ghale Residence, he got out of the helicopter with Bhadra in his arms. She was shaking and sobbing softly, clinging to his chest.

It's okay, Bhadra. It's okay. I'm here with you - he said, trying to comfort her.

Ajay… Ajay… - she whispered, with a weak voice.

I'm here, Bhadra. I'm here - he repeated, carrying her in his arms. he climbed all the way up to the house and found Yogi & Reggie in the living room. They were surprised to see him and even more so to see Bhadra.

Hey, man, you're back! - Yogi said, getting up from the rug.

And you brought a girl! - Reggie said, widening his eyes.

Who is she? - Yogi asked, approaching.

It's Bhadra - Ajay said, with a tense voice.

The Tarun Matara? The reincarnation of the goddess? - Reggie asked, impressed.

Yes, but she's bad

Ajay said - Sabal forced her to watch him kill people.

That's crazy! - Yogi said - What did he want with her?

I don't know, but I'm afraid to imagine - Ajay said - Do you know how to get her out of this state?

Well, we have some experience with herbs - Reggie said - Maybe we can make a tea.

Or maybe we just need to wait for her to wake up - Yogi said - She needs to rest after going through a scene of terror.

Whatever it is, I need you to take care of her - Ajay said - She's just a child. She doesn't deserve this.

Sure, man, we'll take care of her - Yogi said - You can count on us.

Thank you - Ajay said. He thought about everything that had happened since he arrived in Kyrat. In his father, in his mother, in Pagan Min, in Amita, in Sabal. He had lost everything and everyone he loved or respected. He looked at Bhadra and felt a pang of affection. She was the only person he still had some connection with. She was the only person he wanted to protect. He wondered if she would recover from the trauma she had suffered. He wondered if she would forgive him for not arriving sooner.

He was exhausted and worried. He didn't know what had happened to Bhadra while he was away and how she would react when she woke up. Ajay fell asleep without realizing it, tired of the war and violence that plagued Kirat. He dreamed of Sabal wearing the Yalung mask dragging Bhadra to the Jalendu shrine. Ajay follows him desperately, but the scenery changes to Shangri-La, the legendary Tibetan paradise. It is a magical and beautiful place, full of colors and lights. He sees a woman resembling Bhadra sitting on a throne of flowers, dressed in red and gold clothes. She is beautiful and radiant, like a goddess. She calls him by name.

Ajay… Ajay… I'm waiting for you. You finally arrived. You are an honorable man, my chosen one, my companion… - she says, with a sweet and melodious voice.

Bhadra? Is that you? - he asks, confused. She shakes her head. Ajay doesn't understand if it's yes or no.

Who are you? - Ajay asks, perplexed.

I am Kira, the mother goddess of all kirats. I thank you for saving the Tarun Matara from Sabal's bloodlust. I would forgive everyone, no matter the side; they are all my sons and daughters. - She says, with a bitter voice. She began to cry and said that she didn't want Sabal to kill her people. Ajay felt relieved to hear her words, but also anguished to know that he had caused so much suffering.

I am to blame for putting Sabal in power of the Golden Path. - He says, with a tone of remorse.

It's not your fault, Ajay. Sabal was blind by faith. You are not to blame. - She says, with a loving voice.

Ajay, I just wanted to fulfill my mother's last wish: to free the people of Kirat, honor my father's legacy and protect Bhadra. She is the only person in this madness that I still care about. I don't want for Bhadra the same fate as my mother; I want her to be happy as possible, to have a normal life. I want to see her smiling; something I rarely see. Bhadra has no reason to smile; I don't want to see children going through the nightmare that Bhadra went through. - He says, with a tone of sadness. The young goddess is touched by his answer and smiles at Ajay.

Ajay, protect Bhadra, protect Kirat. - She asks, with a loving voice. She gets up from the throne and walks up to him. She hugs him and kisses him passionately. In his ear, she whispers:

Ajay, protect me. She takes him to a tent made of silk and petals. Inside, they make love, without fear or guilt. When the scene starts to heat up, Ajay wakes up all sweaty and panting. He is confused and scared. What a strange dream… Ajay got up from the rug and looked at Bhadra, who was still sleeping deeply. He felt a mix of relief and anguish when he saw her there, so fragile and innocent. He approached her carefully and stroked her face. She opened her eyes slowly and stared at him. He saw a glint of recognition in her gaze, but soon after a cloud of confusion and fear took over her. She squeezed his hand and asked, with a trembling voice:

Where am I? Who are you? What happened to me? Ajay felt a tightness in his chest when he heard those words. He remembered everything they had been through together, how he saved her from Sabal's clutches, how he protected her from Pagan Min's soldiers, how he considered her a sister. He tried to explain, with a gentle voice: You're safe, Bhadra. I'm Ajay, your friend, your… your ally. We fought against Sabal and Pagan Min, we freed Kyrat, we… He stopped talking when he saw Bhadra's expression change. She looked at him with a mix of fear and gratitude.

You saved me from Sabal? He told me I was the Tarun Matara, the goddess of Kyrat. He forced me to see terrible things. He hurt a lot of people. She looked into Ajay's eyes and remembered everything he had done for her. She felt a wave of relief and affection for him.

You are very brave, Ajay. You are very good. She started to sob and clung to him. Ajay hugged her and tried to calm her down. He said:

It's okay, Bhadra. I'm here. You're safe with me. He smiled and stroked her hair.

Sabal is dead. I had no choice but to kill him. He was a madman, a fanatic, a murderer who deceived you, used you and hurt you. You don't have to be afraid of him anymore. You're not a goddess, Bhadra. You're a girl, a… - He says, but is interrupted by her.

A almost younger sister? Is that what you were going to say? - She asks, indignant. - Do you think I'm a child? That I don't know what I feel? - She breaks free from his embrace and faces him defiantly. - In my land, I am a woman.

She thinks of her grandmother, who at 12 was already a great hunter and took care of three children alone. How she wished she had that decision-making ability, that willpower. How she wanted to be a woman like her.

Ajay stroked her hair.

You are safe with me. I will take care of you. I will protect you. — he says, trying to calm her down. He looked into her eyes and was overcome by a strong feeling. He remembered the dream he had with the Goddess. She looked a lot like Bhadra. Was she Bhadra or Kira? He shook his head and pushed those thoughts away.

What nonsense, Ajay! She is only 14 years old! And she is like a younger sister! I would never get involved with her! — He thinks, condemning himself.

I like her. — He thinks, confessing.

I will not make the same mistake that my father made with my mother. Then he asked her to rest, because they needed to talk about their future, about the future of Kirat and about his dream of becoming king of Kirat.

Kira- 1 year, altered female, 43lbs

1-year-old Kira is a certified MAJOR lovebug once she warms up to you.

Kira definitely runs on the fearful side, which isn't shocking given that she was initially found with her mouth and chest tied up bloody on a curb, all alone in the city, just waiting desperately for anyone to care and help. Fortunately, two Good Samaritans discovered her, believing at first that she was already deceased, only to realize that she was still alive. For several months afterward, they got her healthy again, loved her unconditionally, and made her a part of their family- along with their two resident "grumpy" small dogs.

Unfortunately, because her family had to move out of the country, they were forced to make the difficult decision to surrender Kira into BARCS' care.

When she very first arrived at our shelter, Kira was very confused and unsure, and would growl when first meeting new people; we don't blame her though, as we know that the bustle of this environment can be quite overwhelming for many animals. Everything we've seen so far appears fear-based, and she does seem more fearful of men or people with bigger builds.

Due to how nervous Kira is currently, she is not available for adoption through BARCS at this time and can only be placed with an approved partner rescue. Our hope for her would be to see her go somewhere where one can see past the fear because once she feels safe, she is full of SO much love- the most love in the world. She's been through the most unspeakable situations and deserves to live the rest of her life feeling nothing but safe, loved, and secure.

Upon examination, our vets noted that Kira has a very obvious scar around her muzzle, which makes sense given her history and how she was found. She also has an old leg injury, and although she uses it to walk sometimes, she has lost a lot of muscle mass from disuse. Her x-rays have been forwarded to a surgeon for opinion, and a full medical summary can be provided upon request.

Kira is available immediately for rescue pick-up.

River City Girls is a beat 'em up brawler. The player can choose between Kyoko or Misako, who play similarly but have unique moves and animations. Two players can play a local cooperative mode with both. Waves of enemies and occasional bosses are out to oppose the chosen character(s).

Misako (voiced by Kayli Mills) is in detention at River City High, accompanied by her best friend Kyoko (Kira Buckland). She receives an alarming message on her phone: a picture of Kunio (Greg Chun) and Riki (Kaiji Tang), the heroes of River City High and their boyfriends, seemingly being kidnapped. Kyoko and Misako decide to spring into action to rescue their boyfriends. The pair rampages across the city, attacking any suspicious person they find while seeking answers.

Morgan is still STILL getting notes and I know that's because the artist is amazing but ummm.... anyone want some facts about the scrunkly boi? Morgan started as a way for me to play Morb in a medieval setting because he was the only character I had at the time I could RP confidently. That's why he got the resemblance, though over time I mixed in other things like the large bent nose, split down the middle, and monsterish proportions. I would have changed him more but I'm fond of the red eyes grey skin combo and my spouse has a goatee so that's sentimental dammit. Morgan changed to his own personality and history and is now essentially a mimic vampire. I built him to be a scavenger and not a hunter, he runs away rather than fights and prefers to feed off of dead bodies. He's a first class herbalist, former alchemist, and has been married now for like 7 IRL years of RP (To Kira, bless Kira's player for tolerating him). He has eight kids, the vast majority of which are NPC kids made by various GM''s I've played with over the years for plots. They toss the kids away after. Morgan rescues them from NPC limbo. He built a nice farmhouse in the woods outside all villages so that they're safe. They have livestock, they grow veggies and then he goes to trade the extra to bring home anything else needed. He absolutely adores his little cluster of humans.

I had to make him immortal because in public RP idiots kept killing him on sight (The curse of pointy teeth I guess). He's immortal kind of in the way The Thing (Movie) is in that he is kinda a collection of parasitic cells and he can regen cells but it takes time and effort (and food). When he dies whatever is left of him crawls home and rests until he's himself again. He's taken to wearing large robes over the years, hiding his face and claws to avoid conflict which has cut down the threats to his life. There's way too many teeth in that gap in him. He's mostly hollow because he doesn't really need to digest anything, he just absorbs things. He's mainly lungs and circulatory system and a lot of tendons.

He has grippy claws and toes and sleeps hanging from things. The dork could totally change his appearance but his wife likes him just the way he is. His life has been really hard and in the course of RP he lost all memory of his childhood, mother, and of him turning into what he is now. His earliest memories involve his wife finding him.

He is the sweetest and thrives on cuddles. He carves little wooden animals with his claws and gives them out to kids brave enough to come up to him when he travels. His kids at home have a huge stash of them. He can sing, plays a lute moderately well with his claws, and is a fantastic swimmer. His favorite activities are foraging for herbs, helping his oldest train with her bow, and family dinner time where he always gets the task of helping the youngest eat since he doesn't really eat at dinner himself.

My attempt at analyzing references, mechanics, designs etc present in the mod MetaDoom, check this tag to catch up.

A mod that takes/combines features accross the Doom series, from main titles to spin-offs to even obscure corners of the series' history.

It has a lot of fun features and can even serve as a way to explore Doom history.

(I also wrote a post about D16/E based mods for old Doom)

This post itself is flawed because i'm not a huge Doom export but it could still give the idea of how complex/fun it is:

Random stuff/Part 1:

Logo shows Doom 1, 64, 3 (BFG lost edition image) and Eternal, integrated in the DOOM leters

Background represents first levels/early areas of 1, 2, 64, 3, DRPG, D2RPG, 4 and Eternal

Main theme is a remix based off D4 and game over theme from ultra nightmare mode is a piano cover of E1M8

Texts in TITLEPIC, Quit messages and even game over texts are lines related to/from Doom games, manuals, characters dialogues, lore related shit, even stuff like Repercussions of Evil and a Chex Quest reference (Martian Buddy and SnapMap are referenced, for example)

Difficulty setting menu uses Doomguy's face in a "Wolfenstein 3D-esque" way

Ultra-Nightmare being the hardest and most unfair setting uses the classic NIGHTMARE font for some text in the GAME OVER and it describes how you died

In the difficulty setting menu, going down a bit more shows a secret setting with Doomguy’s face replaced by a skull and the text “The Slayer’s time is now”, which is based off the UV plus setting in the Unity ports that uses fast monsters and co-op based enemy/gun/item placement

Ultra Nightmare is supported by co-op, which also uses some announcer sounds from Eternal’s Battlemode and if a player dies, they have to wait for their partner to finish a level before they respawn or else it’s game over, if they die

Doomguy has voice sounds related to beta Doom 3

Generally, a lot of thing may have beta Doom 3 sounds, but also assets from games that aren't even id related

HUD has some tiny ammo icons depending on weapons used

If gibbed, his face literally explodes, using an animation from PSX Doom

Doomguy has unique player sprites based off a mixed up Doomguy (Noticeable elements from Doom 64 and 2016)(Also, his visor may be based off Doom 2 RPG Java version)

Female gender option replaces Doomguy with Kira Morgan from D2RPG/Other gender options replaces him with Dr Peters from Doom VFR

Optional content like breakable props, secret enemies, optional bosses and more

There’s some proper Dehacked enemies support, where some enemies from the mod are replaced with the ones from certain mapsets for proper compatibility (eventually, the same kind of happened with props)

Dead marine corpses have randomized variants based off D64, 3, RPG, 4 and even some cut Doom sprites

Some gib sprites come from DRPG

Sound of doors/crushers crushing bodies may come from Duke Nukem 3D

Mod normally has a progress based randomization system, but an option makes everything actually randomized: Either for testing, a single map playthrough or to just drop balance

Options for performance based stuff like preventing some monsters from jumping or vanishing blood effects (Or to make gameplay less chaotic)

Wolfenstein SS have variants staring SNES port soldier, Mac port Officer, Apple stealth Wolfenstein game enemy and Wolfenstein RPG green soldier with RTCW sounds

Commander Keen has Dangeround Dave, Rescue Rover, Shadow Knights ninja, Catabombs 3D skeleton and a Hovertank 3D citizen

Keycards have randomized skins based off D64, 3, D2RPG and 4, along with a D4 sound (That one where you take a chip from the dead red armored marines)

Skullkeys get randomized skins from D64 and D4, along with a D4 sound

With default keybind being N, there's a codex inspired by 2016, in which info gets filled up with picked up items/guns and killed enemies, along with random lore objects with history about the franchise and sometimes outside of it

Codex info references ingame lore, text from game manuals, Doom media like the movies (RRTS) and novels (Robotic lost soul, sphere coating someone with a liquid) and even Impse

Some codex entries may not show up depending on settings affecting enemy spawns
