[🐟]: I know the scenario I did wasn't in the ones you've mentioned, but I thought it'd be cute since you both like sweet stuff hehe.

He wasn't sure which was sweeter: the kintsuba sold at the local sweets shop or the pretty part-timer working the counter after school hours.

It wouldn't be much of an exaggeration to say that Isagi Yoichi was smitten by you. Sure, you've never spoken to each other apart from the usual exchange whenever he'd drop by and pick-up his favorite kintsuba. But he noticed your sweet smile and big heart from the get go.

It really didn't take much for him to like you.

He was happy to simply see you after school and hear your usual "Welcome!" as the glass door of the shop chimes. Isagi was sure that his heart would burst out of his chest when you asked if he came for his usual. Knowing that you memorized his order—that you knew him—was enough to make his entire week.

On days when the shop was bustling with customers, he'd get his kintsuba quickly and hope that the next time he came back it wouldn't be as crowded. And on those lucky days, he made sure to stay at a table in the corner of the shop, enjoying his kintsuba and stealing glances at you as you worked diligently at the counter.

Isagi felt a bit ridiculous at times—merely watching you from afar, not acting on his feelings. But truth be told, he was satisfied with this. Any more and it would only serve to complicate things. He was a fulfilled observer... until he wasn't.

Recently, Isagi noticed another boy who started frequenting the sweets shop. He was an ordinary looking guy—not someone he knew personally, but he recognized the uniform to be from a school within the area. He was a rather unassuming person, but he started to notice the way he'd linger at the counter to talk to you about mundane things.

It certainly aroused his suspicion and he became overly aware of the guy from then on. He'd overhear the two of you laughing as you conversed over the register. But Isagi almost had his jaw hanging on the floor when in one instance the guy had invited you to sit at his table for a while.

He was blown away, confused, puzzled, flabbergasted—every synonym of what-the-fuck-is-going-on in the thesaurus ever. Isagi couldn't accept that this guy was closer to you. And here he was thinking that he was your favorite customer. You had his order ingrained in your memory after all.

But by God, how naive he was. Of course you'd be swept away in no time by someone else. He had never been the proactive type. Never did he do anything to give you even the slightest hint that he was interested in you. It made him want to kick himself in the head sometimes.

Despite his inner turmoil, he wasn't deterred from regularly visiting the sweet shop at the hours when you'd be working the register. He was starting to think that he was a masochist for letting himself be hurt by seeing the blatant flirting between the two of you.

Funny enough—it was just you, him and Isagi in the shop today. Before Isagi could even take a bite of his precious kintsuba, a voice had interrupted him.

"Mind if I take a seat?"

It was the guy. His absolute rival was asking to sit at his table. His heart was telling him no, but his better judgement shook it off and told the other guy he didn't mind it at all. So he sat across him with a grin.

Small talk ensued and normally Isagi handled those kinds of conversations well. But there was a tinge of awkwardness from all the thoughts he had about this guy because, obviously, he had painted him in his mind to be some guy who didn't deserve you.

But then he dropped the question, "Do you think I have a chance with the pretty cashier?"

The gall of this man to even ask him such a question. But then again, only Isagi knew of his affections for you. He simply shrugged. "I wouldn't know. We're not exactly friends."

"But you come here everyday though?"

Cheeky little bastard... he was unknowingly rubbing salt into Isagi's wounds.

"Well... yeah, but that's about it. We don't really talk about anything else aside from... kintsuba, I guess."

He chuckles. "Ah... that's a bummer. Welp, I'm gonna try my luck tomorrow and finally ask her out!"

Isagi thought he was hearing things. No. He HAD to be hearing things because there is no way this guy is asking you out. And tomorrow? Who told this fool he could move that fast?

He nervously glanced between the guy and you, who was oblivious to the conversation taking place meters away. Your eyes met and you gave him that million dollar smile that he loved so much.

It calmed him down.

It wasn't much, but it felt like a reminder for him that he still had time. The guy made a mistake for waiting until tomorrow.

Eventually, he bid farewell and hoped to see Isagi again—to which Isagi did not share the same sentiment. In fact, he wished to never see the guy again. There were many other sweet shops around. He can go find a new one for all he cared.

He shoved the last bite of kintsuba in his mouth. While he chewed, he gave himself time to really think through what he was going to do next. His decision here on out will decide whether or not he stays a patron of this kintsuba shop or if he needs to find solace somewhere else.

But ever the warrior, he pushed down any thoughts of cowardice. He liked you and he had downplayed those feelings for far too long. He stood up with purpose, but with every step he took towards the counter—he felt like keeling over due to nervousness. Only the adrenaline from being challenged by that guy was left to fuel him.

As you silently blinked at each other, he knew he was at a point of no return.

"Um... do you need something? Napkins or some water maybe?"

Isagi knew he looked like an idiot gawking at you, but he couldn't help but be preoccupied by the thunderous beating of his heart. He wouldn't be surprised if you heard it as well.

"No... no... um, I wanted to ask you something actually—well, no. I wanted to tell you something first."

Your usually toothy grin turned into a more lopsided smile. "Oh, what is it then?"

The constant inquiry wasn't helping, but then again, if you had remained quiet—Isagi would have probably exploded. With adrenaline running higher than ever, he sucked it up and just blurted out the first thing in his mind.

"I like you."

Then, dead silence.

His serious expression was met with your surprised one. The regular customer at your part-time job confessing to you at 4:30 PM on a Tuesday was not on your 2024 bingo card.

"You wha?"

He exhaled in annoyance, having to repeat something so embarrassing. "I said I like you... I have for a long time now."

"Oh," was all that left your slightly parted lips.

He ignored your lackluster response and decided to push it further. He knew it was a mistake to march over here so brazenly without a plan in the world, but fuck it. An accidental confession i better than nothing at all.

"I don't know if you like me back, but I'd like to take you out sometime so that we can get to know each other."

He looked so earnest and determined in his confession that it melted your heart. Your usual warm smile appeared again.

"I'd love to go out with you, Isagi."

At your answer, he stared back like a deer in the headlights. "You know my name?"

"Of course I do. You come here everyday. Plus, I did ask you once."

You giggle at his dumbfounded expression. Perhaps he was so entranced by you that he had missed the fact that he told you his name. It was endearing to say the least.

It was a hunch of yours but you decided to ask anyway. "I presume you were pushed by the other customer who was here earlier?"

"You mean like pushed as a friend or pushed because he was going to ask you out tomorrow?"

"I meant the former... but wow," you had no idea that two guys were interested in you at the same time. But it hardly mattered because you only had eyes for one of them.

"So... when are you taking me out? I need to schedule my day off, y'know?"

He smiled the widest he had ever smiled. You were definitely sweeter than any kintsuba that he has tasted.

Isagi is one of the rare friendly and tolerant guys in blue lock, able to get along with many of the pricklier personalities. So while he might have been a bit intimated by your rbf, at least he wouldn't think badly of you for it. On that note, it's easier for you to navigate social situations with him by your side, as he has no problem keeping up conversations and covering for you when you're having trouble. He's like a breath of fresh air in that way.

He had a bit of trouble talking to you at first since you're more reserved, but once he managed to find a subject you're really interested in, things got easier for him. He doesn't push you to talk about yourself and is happy to bring up less personal stuff like something funny happening around you. He's also the type to talk more when he's interested in a certain subject, so you both takes turns being the listener for conversations.

He also has a tendency to say harsh things in the heat of the moment (see: his fight with Yukimiya in the Bastard Muchen vs Manshine City match). However, unlike 98% of the cast, he's willing to apologize when he realises he's wrong, which doesn't take too long! This trait of his makes him one of the healthiest guys in blue lock.

The both of you share a love for sweets! If you haven't tried kintsuba before, that's the first thing he makes sure you try. He'll be a bit disappointed if you don't like it, but it isn't a big thing worth fussing over. The both of you tend to visit cafes to try their deserts there. Have you heard about the new Apothecary of Night Raven College? They said that the Apothecary, Claudine is kinda apethetic.

Claudine grew up with the belief that he had to stay away from any incoming troubles, attempting really hard to distance himself from the lively chaotic atmosphere of Night Raven College. He only put his hands in when 'the troubles' implied him too, which happens quite a lot.

Actually, when the students met him, he was known for being very kind and.. clumsy.

Due to this clumsiness, the guy often messes up the potions that he gives to his patients, for instance: Mixing a pain-reducing potion as another one that upgrading their pains. Some said this may be a facade, for they once volunteered as Claudine's test subjects and it went.. good suprisingly.

Accepting the invitation, Claudine tries really hard not to sound judgemental. And falls amazingly. He couldn't really not to say his mind out, even if that hurts people in the process.

As a result of this, Claudine was presented as some old hag who kept scolding them despise making the same mistake. A man who's obssessed on some ordinary herbs.

He isn't, really. Yet he couldn't convey that out.

He just want to learn everything about herbs and potions, helping the in-need. The Apothecary tends to suprise everyone with his medical knowledges, one can even say that he's a Medi-Witch!

Yesterday morning I tried Japanese sweet potato (satsuma imo) for the first time.

I found it amidst a sea of random frozen items, pre-baked and stupid expensive for 100 grams of delicious goodness I wasn't sure I'd come across again. There was only one.

It'd been easily 10 years since I wanted to cook with it. Now, I knew I could only make one dish or dessert with it since it was only 100g with its skin on. And on top of it, it came pre-baked and frozen. That narrowed the options down very quickly.

I chose to make kintsuba (a type of Japanese sweet treat) following Cooking With Dog's recipe. It is usually made by boiling the peeled sweet potato but I had to make do with what I had.

This sweet came out scrumptious, it tasted nothing like the variety of sweet potatoes we cultivate in Spain. It was incredibly creamy, with surprising hints of clove and such spices. The flavor was smooth and mellow with a lasting aftertaste.

After I finished it I sat in silence and contemplated the future with the taste still lingering on my tongue: I probably won't be tasting this sweet, yellow flesh again any time soon.
