The BG3 companions and where I would take them:

Gale- Libraries. Old ones, new ones, ones all over the world. Show him the Veritable Records of the Joseon era in Korea - he’d be fascinated by extensive record keeping and how we know King Taejong fell off his horse. We might not have wizards, but there’s enough interesting stuff in history for him to be entertained for a long time

Wyll- Needs an absolute break. Treat him to an actual spa day so he can relax. Show him a national park or two, introduce him to the works of Shakespeare and Super Smash Bros. Make up for those last few years as a teen he didn’t get

Karlach- Axe throwing and a roller derby. Absolutely destroys at both and she’s having a good time about it. Put that rage to good use-we’re getting pizza after and will join Wyll for Smash Bros

Shadowheart- Absolutely vibing at a rock or metal concert. Show her fishnets, ripped jeans and muscle tees and she’s sold. She might come out of it with a tattoo and a desire to learn the electric bass. Take her to a record store and talk about music for a while.

Lae’zel - A kendo club. I think she’d think that overall most military operations in our world are devoid of honor and tact, but would marvel at things like kendo or fencing. Would likely be upset that no one is actually killed, and might actually try and kill someone if she was able to join the club.

Astarion- Art museum. Judge the art to your hearts content my guy. There’s an exhibit on fashion, let’s look at stitching and beading and how intricate people are with their craft. No risk of being touched, low key environment. I think it’d be good for him.

I feel like Korean history gets far less attention than it deserves, so here’s a fun lil snippet of it that  i love:

So back in Joseon Dynasty, there were these historic scribes who basically recorded every single thing that the king did/involved the king to pass that on to Joseon’s national history. And by everything, I mean EVERYTHING. That is how we have such a detailed record of Joseon’s history remaining to this day. And, yes, the kings fucking hated them (i mean, they were practically legal paparazzis, so why wouldn’t they?).

At some point, one King went hunting and fell off a horse. He didn’t get hurt, but he’s p embarrassed so he quickly looked left and right then said, “don’t let the scribes know about this.” 

Mind you, we’re talking about King Taejong, the king who killed his own brothers on his way to the throne, the king who, though the means were cruel and inhumane, is credited for stabilizing the early Joseon, the king who arguably was the most powerful king of the Joseon dynasty, and the king whose son is Great King Sejong(who created Hangeul--the Korean writing system--and is still often recognized to this day as the greatest King of Joseon for making wonderful scientific achievements of his time possible& his successes in improving the life of peasants/ low class). 

And THIS man was low key TERRIFIED of the scribe knowing about this embarrassing moment, so much so that the FIRST thing he did after fucking falling off a horse was to check whether a scribe was there. 

The only reason why we DO know this story? Bc that lil shit stalked him then went ahead and fucking wrote it down. INCLUDING the part where the he said, “don’t let the scribes know”. 

The translation of what was actually written in The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty: 

“The King personally went hunting for deers with bows and arrows. During the hunt, his horse tripped on itself, and the King fell off but did not sustain any injuries. Then looking left and right he said, “The Scribes shan’t know about this.”
