What if, in order to seize power, Sally kills her decrepit racist-ass father(possibly via poison) ? To deflect suspicion , she could frame one of her enemies for it (perhaps a rival kingdom). She could also use this to unite her people against a common enemy
At the funeral, she could shed big crocodile tears and throw herself on the coffin in a performative faux display of grief , to rally her people against her enemy.

And Sonic would but It! Like that's his Girl of course he would support her.
Even if he doesn't Know Sally rizzs and uses him against her enemies or any rebelion against her and her rule, kinda like what Princess bublegum did with Finn.

Sally just uses him as an attack dog and strings him along with the promises of smooches. Sonic is her simp who would do anything for her . (Basically a warped version of the medical noble lady and her chivalrous knight)
Also love the comparison with Finn and princess bubblegum, cuz that is spot on. Poor schmuck didn't have a clue he was being used.
