Got the first 2 episodes in of "My Lady Jane" and I'm loving it!!! 😀 Going into this knowing it's a historical comedy and it even making it known it's set in an alternate universe with fantasy elements is great as unlike period dramas you know it's not going to be historically accurate so it's just fun and funny. LOL I like how they've adapted the book too and Jane & Guildford have great chemistry, and I love Edward VI too. Plus, being a fan of Rob Brydon I keep cracking up so much at his scenes as John Dudley, but I also noticed he weirdly looks like Robert Dudley's portraits when he was older. LOL I'm curious to see how this goes, and we get more of Elizabeth I since she's one of my favorite queens. And for us concerned about Robert I can now put behind a cut for spoilers about him and I'm curious to see what happens there too.
So like in the book we see that Guilford has a weird thing with his animal shapeshifting and he's stuck as his animal during the day but human at night. He's not the only Dudley sibling that is like this as all the others including Robert are too but he's stuck in animal form all the time, which is also why they're looking for a cure so they can either stay human or go back to being able to shift whenever. Their brother Stan (who is a mashup in the book of their other brothers) didn't inherit this and is only human but they all have to keep it secret with them being hunted. So that's why human Robert isn't in the book as he's stuck as an animal but they hint at being able to cure the other siblings and Elizabeth I does become queen still at the end so it's hinted things play out between her and Robert like in our world too.

Crown of Edward VI ( Kingdom of America Lore )
Tumblr media
Imperial Crown of Edward VI. Or the Crown of England Is a s the imperial and state crown of Kings of England The imperial crown created by Everart or Everard Everdyes for Edward VI’s coronation is indeed a fascinating piece of history. The term “imperial” refers to a style of crown characterized by its raised arches, which was a significant feature of this particular crown. Everdyes crafted this crown using scrap gold from the Secret Jewel House, including a set of nine letters “I” or “J”, which might have been initially made for Edward’s mother, Jane Seymour. The crown was adorned with pearls from Henry VIII’s personal items and potentially included the large balas ruby known as the Black Prince’s Ruby, which originated from Myanmar. The detailed description of the crown in Edward’s inventory highlights its luxurious composition, with diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and a significant number of pearls, culminating in a large balas ruby at the top, pierced and set with a small gold cross. This crown was not only a symbol of royal authority but also a showcase of the wealth and craftsmanship of the time. Everdyes’ contributions to the royal regalia didn’t stop at the crown; he also crafted a coronet for the Duke of Somerset, using diamonds that belonged to Henry VIII. His commitment to his craft and the royal household is further evidenced by his return of unused pearls to the Jewel House after the coronation. The location of his workshop at Westminster Palace indicates his prominence and the trust placed in him by the royal family. The large ruby in Everdyes’ crown, described in 1604 as “a verye greate ballace perced,” suggests that it remained a notable gem in the crown’s design for many years. Such pieces of regalia are not only valuable for their material worth but also for their historical significance, representing the artistry and opulence of the Tudor court. And it IS Currelnty Is Uses By The Kings of England

“Since we have received nothing from our first parents wherein we may glory”, Edward wrote in a telling statement of how he had come to view the tyranny and excesses of Henry VIII’s reign, “I am compelled, reverend father, since I have been called, by Divine Goodness and your agency and ministry, to this connection in Christ and a partaking of the gospel, daily to give thanks to God for his infinite and unbounded (though underserved) bounty towards me.”
—Edward VI, King of England (1547-1553), to reformer Martin Bruce. In: SKIDMORE, C. “Edward VI: The Lost King of England”.

"Faith is the gift of God, and cannot be wrought in the hearts of men by any power of man, but only by the Holy Ghost."
Tumblr media
Thomas Cranmer was a leader of the English Reformation and Archbishop of Canterbury during the reigns of Henry VIII, Edward VI and, for a short time, Mary I.
Born: 2 July 1489, Aslockton, England
Died: 21 March 1556 (age 66 years), Oxford, England
Archbishop of Canterbury: Cranmer served as the Archbishop of Canterbury, the highest religious office in the Church of England, from 1533 until his death in 1556. He played a pivotal role in the English Reformation, promoting the break from the authority of the Pope and establishing the Church of England as a separate entity from the Roman Catholic Church.
Author of the Book of Common Prayer: Cranmer is perhaps best known for his work on the Book of Common Prayer, which was first published in 1549 during the reign of King Edward VI. This book provided a standardized form of worship in English, making religious services more accessible to the general population and promoting uniformity in worship practices within the Church of England.
Supporter of Henry VIII's Divorce: Cranmer played a key role in King Henry VIII's efforts to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. He provided theological and legal arguments supporting the annulment, which ultimately led to the English Reformation and the establishment of the Church of England separate from papal authority.
Martyrdom: Despite his prominence during the reign of Henry VIII and Edward VI, Cranmer's fortunes changed dramatically during the reign of Queen Mary I, a staunch Catholic. He was arrested, tried for heresy, and ultimately convicted. On March 21, 1556, Cranmer was burned at the stake as a heretic. His final recantation, where he renounced his earlier Protestant beliefs, is often cited as one of the most dramatic moments of the English Reformation.
Influence on English Protestantism: Cranmer's theological writings and liturgical reforms had a lasting impact on English Protestantism. His emphasis on Scripture, justification by faith, and the primacy of individual conscience over papal authority laid the groundwork for the development of Anglicanism as a distinct branch of Christianity. Despite his tragic end, Cranmer's legacy continues to shape the beliefs and practices of Anglicans worldwide.

Edward VI: Henry VIII's Overshadowed Son by Stephanie Kline #NetGalley #ARC #BookReview
When discussing the history of Tudor England, King Edward VI is often overlooked, but one historian thinks that' a mistake. #EdwardVI #HenryVIIIsovershadowedson by #StephanieKline #NetGalley #ARC #BookReview #TudorEngland #HenryVIII #queenelizabeth
For too long, King Edward VI has been pushed to the very edges of Tudor history – overlooked in favour of some of the more vibrant personalities of his family members, such as Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Known as the ‘boy king’ of the Tudor dynasty, he is often remembered for little more than the ambitious councillors who governed England during his minority. His reign, however, and the…
