So spitballing here but… outside POV?
Krypton’s death realms hadn’t grown for a long time. There was only one line that had that option, and it became a boast in the Realms from the entire house of El.
Their Kal made it to earth, and so did Kara. Their lines, muddied as they may be, could continue uninhibited.
Some of Zodd’s ancestors would claim the same, but there was… disagreement about his status. By eras, regions, and factions; Zodd had a degree of controversy.
Kal-El?
The golden retriever of the House of El. Incapable of doing wrong, and many singing his praises as a successful transplant and paragon among the humans of Earth. For varying reasons.
Kara? A known tradionalist during her time against the cloning process taking precedence over natural birth. One with many… allegiances tangled, but still a welcomed soul that even prayed to their gods still.
And the dead get bored.
So they watched over Kal and Kara, somethings out of concern and others boredom.
Then a new line to house El appeared, and watching the fledgling clone became priority for many.
There were cheers a plenty among some of House El, others concerned for how Kara may take it given her and her parents historic hatred of clones but none worried about Clark’s.
Why would they be?
So many cheered on baby clone.
They all grew horrified about the forced aging process. That would hurt the poor boy’s development and stunt him socially! Such a thing would never happen on Krypton!
They went to King Phantom with their concerns.
Princess Ellie proved the artificial aging wasn’t necessarily going to destroy him, but could disable him compared to Kal.
The ghosts cannot speak to the living so freely without enough ectoplasm, and it was in short supply where the clone boy was kept.
They remained stalwart watchers. Reporting to King Phantom and Princess Ellie as things continued.
The Anti-Ecto acts made it difficult.
And the King of Kings was busy with school and such, as he was still so, so young. But he told them to report their findings about the boy, a possible playmate for Ellie later on.
They believed Kal would get along well with the young King.
Many of the Atlantean persuasion were trying to get the King to their king in life, Arthur, to help with the removal of the Anti-Ecto acts and establishment (recognition in reality) of Amity Park and Elmerton’s secession from the United States of America, Planet Earth.
The king was busy.
They kept recording their findings.
Each insult. Each excuse to ignore the clone. Every avoidance. Each injustice.
Kara’s refusal was expected.
They expected Kal to temper her wrath and grief at everything and stop her from projecting her own hatred onto a social toddler she dubbed Garbage.
They named one of the last True Kryptonians Garbage.
None would accept Kon as the boy’s name.
The House of El was humbled at the cost of the clone boy’s health and being severed from his culture, history and people.
A faction forged itself when the half Kryptonian Jon came to be. Many agreed to shut their doors on the newborn and onto Kal. Kara already had many doors closed, but Kal had not.
Their paragon’s rot was exposed.
The late Kryptonians were enraged.
It took until the King was Seventeen Earth Years for them to give the full report and their request: save the young clone of Kal- El, human name Clark Kent from the abuse he is being dealt by a cruel template and far right extremist. From the abuses tolerated by the Earth’s so-called ‘Justice League’.
The Atlantean octopus Topo broke the ice by making the Child King, Keeper of Realm Disputes in Life and Undeath, chase him to Atlantis.
King Arthur ans Queen Mera were quick to take the King and his mirrorborn under their wings.
They knew of the mission the Phantoms were tasked with by each former head of House El; remove the clone from his abusive and negligent template’s domain, at any cost but the boy’s well being.
Arthur was enthusiastic about that aspect of the Phantoms mission from the Kryptonians as a whole.
He’d been vocal about his opinion on Clark’s refusal to acknowledge the boy. And with how overjoyed he was about Jon’s birth but repulsed by the child acknowledged as ‘a toddler upon meeting him, functionally 5 as far as the Kryptonian Collective is concerned.’
Arthur leaned back as Danny glared at Superman upon meeting him with the League, introducing him as “King Phantom, Keeper of Disputes within and between the Infinite Realms, and his mirrorborn, Princess Lerna. He’s agreed to help us with world ending threats and up with minimal fuss on one condition.” Arthur grinned a bit too sharply. “He is allowed to fulfill a formal petition from the Kryptonian Collective of the Infinite Realms. This petition has been going on for how long again?”
“Earth time? Five years—don’t give me that look i only won the title two years ago and had to wrangle each ruler and moderate the unaligned after three millennia of serial neglect from the last guy,” King Phantom almost snarled.
Princess Lerna smiled, a bit too sharply, locking eyes with Superman before anyone could interject. “The petition is to remove the abused child from the House of El’s influence.”
The words had the intended effect. The heroes outside of the know petrified as the information sank in.
“Each former head signed off on it, after they chose to see the treatment for themselves,” the young Princess continued, eyes seering superman. “Many have closed their realm to you for the offenses.”
“Hold on,” Batman interjected.
“No, I believe we’ve been unable to remove the four year old from your custody for too long.”
Members tried to interject, only for Arthur to silence them with a simple “over the course of multiple millennia, regions, religions and factions, the late Kryptonians all agreed on a singular issue. Unless you believe yourself better versed in their laws than the collectives who lived them,” arthur looked about his co-workers. “I suggest you be quiet.”
“You can’t take my son.”
“You can keep the one doors were shut to in retaliation—the four year old’s removal was petitioned, not the mixed child.”
The room fell silent again.
Batman broke it. “You can not take Kon.”
The room glitched around Princess Lerna. “You do not get to call him garbage,” she warned.
King Phantom moved his daughter(?) behind himself.
“Just because a subject of mine favors you Knight of Lady Gotham, does not mean you get to stop this. Especially given your inability to remove the abuser from his victim, in more than one case.”
Before anyone could soak that information in, Princess Lerna cut in with narrowed eyes.
“And given your history with fellow mirrors,” all eyes moved between the tween princess and the teenage king. “Disqualifies any weight your words may have carried otherwise. A forcibly aged clone, no matter to the age, is still a child. You keep thinking I’m much younger than I am. Auntie Dora and Auntie Pandora have made sure that that handicap won’t make me a target. How are the Talons by the way? Have you even bothered with rehabilitation attempts like that filthy revenant you revived and allow to remain slaughtering civilians?”
Eyes darted to Batman.
“Oh, the dead talk. quite often. My aunt has been working with a lot of them. Wraith prevention is especially difficult when they see others suffer as they did with no change.”
King Phantom placed a hand on her shoulder. “Fine, i’ll stop spitting unpleasant truths once the other mirror is safe—and away from all these enablers.”
Arthur hummed. “I say we put it to a vote. Those for child abuse continuing among our own, raise your hand.”
No one raised their hand.
“I believe that settles it Phantoms, go check in on him, will you?”
Thats all i have for now.
Lerna is a star in the hyrdra constellation, and my take on a proper non-dani name she’d take on for formal events.

~
Danny has heard about Superman's dislike for his clone,
Dead men do tell tales.
Danny grows angry with Superman,
There he was showing hate to his clone, his flesh, his blood,
Conner wasn't in the wrong,
He was just a child
He didn't ask to be created this way.
Danny hated Clark Kent
More and more with each story he heard from the ghosts around him, Danny knew what it was like to be cloned to feel that violation of his person, but he could never hate Ellie,
His clone
His cousin
His sister
His daughter
His family
She was precious to him and her being a clone would never lower the amount of love he held towards her.
So to see this hero, this adult, not give two shits about Conner?
Oh that burned
So he decided to do something about it, If Superman didn't want Conner then he would take him, show him the love and care that should have been his from the very beginning from what should have been his own family.
Danny could teach him more about Krypton than Superman could ever wish to know, show him his birthright.

( lannisport lannister a / matteo martari / cis man + he/him ) hear ye hear ye — king garlan tyrell welcomes ruling lord tybolt lannister of lannisport! his great majesty is glad that the thirty - seven year old noble appears to be observant while overlooking that it’s said they are also competitive, as long as they are glad to celebrate peace in the seven kingdoms. fortunately for them, garlan remains oblivious that they aren’t happy with his reign and that their true allegiance lies with the westerlands + themselves.
Name: Tybolt Lannister Age: thirty-seven Orientation: demisexual, demiromantic Loyalties: House Lannister but overall it’s to The Westerlands and ensuring security for the future. Religious affiliation: Faith of the Seven Appearance: dark haired and green eyes, high cheekbones are perhaps his most notable features. Tall at 6'1, though his more slender build can sometimes make him look taller. Gait: in general his steps are sure and smooth, the confidence he feels in himself echoed in his walk. Aesthetic: the scratching of a quill over parchment, the speed of his writing not spoiling the neatness of his letters; keen eyes that miss nothing; soft, knowing smiles curling onto lips in sweet satisfaction as a well laid plan comes to fruition.
FAMILY: -
Father: Lorent Lannister Mother: Sybell Lannister nee tbd Siblings: a younger sister + younger brother (wcs!!) Extended family: house hightower ( in laws ) Marital status: married to Nerissa Lannister neé Hightower Children: Lorent Lannister & Leo Lannister
PERSONALITY: -
Traits: quick-witted, versatile, thorough, strategic, precise, generous, open-minded, meticulous, confident, knowledgable, just, hard-working, gracious. Values: while he tends to keep his true opinions somewhat close to his chest ( easier to not make enemies of people that way ) Tybolts’s ideals are relatively high. He thinks that nobles have a duty to the smallfolk that are on their lands and by strengthening Houses they can provide better for all. His morals, however, are less restrictive as he will always be someone who believes that the bigger picture is far more important and that the ends can almost always justify the means. Fears: he fears failure but not because of how it would reflect on him but because his lofty goals mean that if he had truly failed then so has his House and perhaps many more. The more vain part of him might fear being forgotten but if he had a choice between being remembered and making the difference he wants to see, then he’d happily slip from memory. Moral Alignment: true neutral Temperament: choleric Zodiac:aries sun, capricorn moon, virgo rising Inspiration: odysseus (the iliad), danny ocean (ocean’s eleven), henry vii (history), lorenzo de’ medici (history) and a sprinkling of tyrion lannister too
BIOGRAPHY: -
tl;dr - as the heir he always felt a heavy responsibility to his house and the people that depended on them so his time was spent learning and honing his skills. Intelligent and observant, he’s been able to make countless plans and deals to better his house. Eyes are always open for his next ally, never betraying those who he has already sworn to but also not letting emotions blind him when it comes to alliances and connections. He is keen to see the Westerlands profit and rise - after all they should be benefitting from their close relationship with the new royal family.
The eldest of Lorent Lannister’s boys he title of heir of Lannisport fell to him and along with it he took up the mantle of bringing more greatness to their name. As he grew older it seemed as though he would have little trouble in doing this, excelling at everything that was placed in front of him. His father had ensured that although his children would grow up motherless for the most part they would have a wealth of resources at their fingertips which made it all too easy for Tybolt’s quick, eager mind to pick up whatever he turned his attention to next.
He travelled for a few years but only to continue to make deals for his family, any friendships he made ones that he could consider an unwavering bond. There were acquaintances too, slowly building a network that could one day be called upon should the need arise.
Pride was taken in his city and how it continued to flourish as his father slowly loosened his grip on the reins so that he could take over. ( the city watch a particular jewel in his crown when some had told him his men were far better trained than those in King’s Landing ) His desire to see Lannisport and its people remain strong meant that he was never shy of forming alliances and forming friendships to increase trade and stability.
Years passed with continuing to hone his skills, putting into practise those years of shadowing his father as well as branching out on his own when it came to politics and relations. But what he was almost unprepared for was the death of his father when he was thirty-one. Almost but not quite. Grief didn’t cripple him when he knew the best way to honour his father was by continuing and expanding his legacy.
The responsibility felt for securing his house meant that he wasted little time in acquiring a betrothal for himself, turning to a long trust trade partner and taking a bride from one of his family's closest connections. Nerissa Hightower turned out to be something of a perfect fit and as they welcomed their two sons at reasonable intervals pride in his family grew.
Lannisport continued to flourish, its riches always shared among the people as much as he added to his house's coffers. Support was given to his small folk and constant opportunities for them to improve their craft and trade.
For all they were his ‘cousins’ the lions of the rock had never had his unwavering loyalty. The Westerlands itself lays claims to that and while he is happy to side with those who share his name as long as it suits his goals, nothing would stop him looking elsewhere if needed.
HEADCANONS: -
He has never been drawn to music when all of his attention in his youth was directed to other pursuits he deemed more useful. He spent his time focusing on history and politics, strategy and sparring - he had little time for the more art-like endeavours. Of course he knows how to pick only the best music for any feasts his family hold but his own attention to them is rather fleeting when he sees it as nothing more but another tool for charming those around him.
Ravens are something he sends frequently, constantly in touch with those that he deems important to his plans. That being said, for all his notes are sometimes written in haste his penmanship is just as meticulous as everything else he does. They are always more than legible and the hours that he had spent on his careful script in his youth are plainly evident to whoever receives a note from him.
Lannisport library is among one of the finest in Westeros ( though he is rather biased when he makes such a claim ) its walls filled with tomes he had inherited from generations before him as well as carefully selected on his travels in his youth.
Connections: -
Political alliances: whether they simply share similar views or their houses can offer something to each other, Tybolt has collected a range of the dynamics over the years. If his word has been given he tends to keep it. Open to newer/older connections!
Trading alliances: with Lannisport being a large trading city it's important for him to make sure things still run smoothly
Friends: over the years he has fostered a number of dynamics that he feels stray more into the realm of friendship than just a simple alliance. The bonds will be valued deeply and his loyalty almost unwavering. (also a wc for a specific dynamic!!)
Potential allies: whether it comes off or not can be written out!!
Anything else you can think of xoxox

Interview: Costume Designer Anna Robbins Returns Us to Sumptuous ‘Downton Abbey’
Like many diehard fans, I was beyond excited when I heard that Julian Fellowes’ popular British TV series Downton Abbey was following its six-season run with a full-length feature film. Taking place between 1912 and 1925, the television series had introduced us to the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants who lived together in an incredibly grand Yorkshire home called Downton Abbey. Throughout the series, the Crawleys and their servants snaked their way through many of the big historical events of the early 20th century. As the film picks up the story in 1927, the Crawleys and their intrepid staff are preparing for one of the most important experiences of their lives: a royal visit from the King and Queen of England. This exciting experience will ultimately unleash scandal, romance, and intrigue that will leave the future of Downton hanging in the balance.
Among the joys in revisiting these beloved characters is seeing the amazing work of costume designer Anna Robbins (Emmy-nominated for her work on the series) which is even more spectacular on the big screen. This is a time just beyond the Gilded Age, entering the modern one, which is reflected in great detail in the costumes from Dowager Countess of Grantham Violet Crawley’s (Maggie Smith) pastel, formal Edwardian garb to the more flapper-friendly styles favored by Lady Mary and Lady Edith (Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael). For the latter pair, the silhouettes and color schemes reflect their outlook – Lady Mary in more angular blacks and whites for instance, and a beautiful gold flowing 1920s gown for Lady Edith, a gorgeous use of fabric and pattern and color where you can really see the texture and detail. I loved sitting down for a chat with the talented Anna Robbins about her work on the film, even if I did feel painfully underdressed.
Danny Miller: I so loved being with these characters again. And as far as I’m concerned, your work is one of the most important stars of the film. It was already so gorgeous on the TV series but am I correct in noticing that it all seems ramped up a bit for the movie?
Anna Robbins
Anna Robbins: Oh, yes, it is definitely ratcheted up a notch! We set a high bar for the show, with all the departments really pushing to elevate everything, but I think watching it on television we all thought it could be even bigger. And then along comes the opportunity to make it literally bigger which was so much fun to do.
I know, I just wanted to stare at the threads on the fabric seeing all those beautiful clothes on the big screen.
Yes, which is exactly what made it so challenging since I people would be able to see the threads and the quality of the craftsmanship in such detail. I like to use as many originals as possible and those had to be of a very high quality to withstand that scrutiny.
Wow, how on earth do you find 90-year-old dresses that are in good enough shape to look new?
For women’s wear I’d say it’s about half and half. I use more originals in evening wear because those dresses were often carefully preserved and they weren’t the kind of things to be worn every day so they haven’t worn out. Some pieces do require restoration, of course, and if it can be done to a very high standard, we do it but sometimes the fabric is simply too fragile so I might be able to re-imagine it as something else or take the fabric and rework it somehow. It’s a combination of a lot of things, but yes, I really had to raise the bar for the film and make everything even more sumptuous.
And, of course, this film includes the royal visit, so I’m sure that storyline also ramped things up.
Yes, that definitely upped the ante but it also meant you weren’t going to be exploring the most up-to-the-minute risky trends in women’s wear because there’s a very specific elegance and classicism to how you would dress to meet a royal.
I would imagine that you get to know these characters better than almost anyone. Do you have to think beyond the script to the whole of their personal histories? For example, Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) having been raised in America, do you think that influences her clothes?
Oh yes, where they came from is very important. The wardrobe’s got to say as much about the past as it does about the present day. It’s a very intimate process as well, working with an actor to find that characterization and it becomes a very important tool for them. But I have gotten to know the characters really well which meant I had a shorthand when I went onto the film that allowed me to work at pace right from the beginning without needing to do the huge amount of research that I did when I first came on board.
Shorthand like you could see something and think, “Oh, Lady Mary would never wear that.”
Yes. At this point I can walk into a vintage shop and see a Lady Edith dress across the shop and know it’s going to work.
Lady Edith is someone who really interested me in this film because, as we know, she had a big change at the end of the series. It did seem like her new status was reflected in her clothes.
I think Edith had one of the biggest journeys of anyone throughout the series. I remember in Series 5 her wardrobe was very restrictive and pared back, very autumnal colors during the period when she was estranged from her daughter and just very low emotionally. Then in Series 6 she literally blossoms as a human and finds her identity and she’s suddenly in this literary world so I created this London working woman’s wardrobe which was very different from her estate wardrobe. It still felt like the same person but she was far more adventurous and bold in her choice of prints and color.
You can literally see her self-confidence change over the course of the series and it was amazing to watch how her physical appearance reflected that.
Yes, I loved dressing her. And now in the film it was important that we didn’t lose that sense of style she had found even though now she’s no longer a magazine editor in London, she’s the Marchioness of Hexham and outranks all of them. So we took everything that she’s learned about herself including her self-assuredness and sense of style and moved it up into the position that she’s in now. But still always focusing on the level of craftsmanship in the textiles, it might be embroidery, it might be devoré, it might be printed silk. There’s always some sort of interesting surface to the fabrics that I use for Edith.
Was there at all a touch of rubbing her new status in Mary’s face with her clothes at all? A bit of showing off?
I don’t think so because I don’t think Edith has an ego like that. And she and her husband are very modern in their approach to their high positions. Remember — they arrive at Downton without a nanny. They call themselves “modern folk.”
I guess just the fact that she’s happy now is enough for her to stick it to Mary.
(Laughs.) Yes, exactly. I love dressing the two of them in their scenes together. Even when they weren’t at each other’s throats, there’s always a contrast, I always look to create some kind of dichotomy between them. Their dresses should always work with each other but create a nice contrast. And, of course, as individuals they’re very different.
I know the film takes place in 1927, which is a few years after the series ended, but do you have to think about certain characters like Violet (Maggie Smith) who may hold on to past styles in some way?
Well, Violet is a Victorian/Edwardian lady and that will never change. But the fabric choices may change. Where she once wore a fabric with an Edwardian pattern, that may become more art deco. You’re always looking for different micro trends that affected clothing manufacture, the way they were put together. And her jewelry might go from being more square cuts to show more modernity. I like to find ways to show that sense of modernity without changing her very recognizable silhouette.
Dame Maggie Smith
Did you know that there was a movie coming as the series was ending? Were things saved in a different way than they might have been otherwise?
No, we didn’t know. We hoped, but nothing was certain back then. Luckily, the main jeweler I worked with wasn’t organized enough to disband the collection and use it in other things so it was mostly intact.
Plus, the series was so popular, you could take the whole collection on the road!
Yes, we did work on a touring Downton Exhibition over the years so we’ve always been aware that there’s a life for the costumes after filming whether or not they ended up in a new film. But really getting to create new costumes for these wonderful characters was just a hypothetical dream that has thankfully now come true.
We’re talking so much about the women and my first instinct is to assume that costuming the men isn’t as interesting, but then I see their gorgeous clothes on the big screen and I’m totally fascinated.
Oh God, I love working with the men, I love tailoring. If you get that right, everything just looks so good. And the fabrics are fantastic. I was talking about using original pieces with the women, but it’s very rare that you’ll find any originals that you can use with the men.
Because men back then wore their clothes so much more often and they just wore out?
Yes, exactly, they just haven’t lasted. But the bits we do find are wonderful references for the cut and shape and how the pieces are constructed. I also work to make sure the men’s clothes complement the women’s and that all the scenes work together in composition. But the detailing in the menswear is just wonderful. And if you look closely in the film, the men change as often as the women do. I think Robert changes four times on the day that the Kind and Queen come to Downton. I was even able to design new dress uniforms for the livery staff with the Crawley insignia in the fabric, it was wonderful, those beautiful green tailcoats with silver frogging and lacing with the white breaches and stockings. Just brilliant.
Matthew Goode, Michelle Dockery, Allen Leech
So incredible. And then you leave work and go out into London and see people dressed like I am right now — it must be so depressing!
(Laughs.) I mean, I’m sure it was very hot and uncomfortable at times, so it’s good that we’ve moved forward, but those clothes do look so fabulous and I’m glad I get to spend such a huge proportion of my life with them!
Is designing for the servants more of a case of strict research on what the staffs of big houses would be wearing in 1927?
Well, there is lots of research and looking at what would have been worn but then you design touches for each character. For example, there is always a sort of very subtle floral pattern within the silk for Anna. And it may be more geometric for Baxter, with a more complicated cutting technique since Baxter is a dressmaker.
Is the implication that the servants would be mending their own clothes?
Yes, to some extent, so you’re going to see differences. They’re all designed to the character and to make them identifiable even if there’s a common look.
Lesley Nicol and Sophie McShera
I imagine at the first fittings for the film it must have been heavenly for the actors to slip back into these costumes to get back into character.
It was wonderful seeing them literally step back into their characters’ shoes. And it’s always been a very collaborative process working with them. It’s a joint effort to find the right looks. I lead it, for sure, since I have an overview of how the whole thing has to look and I know what’s going to work together in each scene such as they’ve got to start off in this setting which may be against red and then move into this room which might be green.
Oy, that seems like so much to keep track of. And it’s not like in real life we ever know the colors of every room we’re going to walk into!
Exactly, but I have to create these huge charts that allows me to painstakingly keep track of all those different elements. I work very closely with the director, production designer, the DP, and the actors. I have to think about lighting and how the colors are going to behave on camera.
I remember reading about the making of Gone With the Wind and how Selznick and costume designer Walter Plunkett tortured the actors with real corsets and other undergarments from the period even though they would never be seen. Are you a stickler period detail as well?
I am all about what makes the right silhouette but I might make the garments worn under the costumes more comfortable than the originals might have been. Remember, they didn’t have the luxury of stretch materials! Unless you actually see the underwear, as you do in some scenes in the film, then I absolutely insist on the real thing, of course.
Of course, the 1920s were more kind to women than previous eras in terms of undergarments.
Absolutely. You had underwear then that created a more boyish silhouette which could still be confining for some. But I also find that actors are quite keen to use whatever underwear creates the foundation that makes the clothing look more authentic and therefore more believable. And sometimes the underclothes affect posture and even the way you speak. I think it’s worth noting that while the girls lost the corsets, the gents were still wearing stiff-collared shirts full of starch with starch-fronted shirts. These are very uncomfortable, and you shouldn’t even be able to get a finger down the collar. So, rest assured, I still put the actors through the ringer.
I used to love the original Upstairs, Downstairs before Downton Abbey and I remember the actors talking about how they tended to be treated differently on set depending on what class they were playing. I remember Jean Marsh, who played the parlourmaid Rose, once said to the people on set, “Hey, I created this series, why is everyone treating me like I’m not as good as Lady Marjorie?” Did you ever notice anything like that on your set?
Oh, that’s funny. No, I wouldn’t say so. We were really like one big family and very equal. I think something the downstairs characters might get a bit of envy in terms of all the beautiful fabrics and costumes that the upstairs characters got to wear, but by the same token the upstairs characters had to do fittings week upon week upon week. The downstairs characters had a much easier time of it pre- and post-filming where they could just get into their cars and leave whereas I had to drag Lady Mary to do the fifth fitting that week for a new dress that she was wearing the following week.
I do feel inspired by your magnificent clothes in this film. As God is my witness, I want to start dressing better!
Go for it! The thing is, a bespoke suit can be very comfortable because it’s been made specifically for you. It molds to your body.
Thanks so much for chatting with me. I’m excited about all the Downton Abbey frenzy I’m seeing. This is definitely the movie that we need right now in this country, if you know what I mean.
Oh, trust me, we need it right now in the UK, too!

As we hit the Memorial Day Weekend, we hit what traditionally is the start of the Summer season around the World. Of course, this year is not your normal year due to the COVID-19 crisis, so instead of looking forward to a bunch of big shows and some outdoor wrestling events, we are left to wonder when the next show with ANY type of crowd will be.
With all 50 states now easing restrictions in some form or fashion, it’s only a matter of time when we will see that first event. Sure, the first will be small and measured in the number of fans that attend. But it will be a start. And of course, when it comes to the WWE, we wonder what will become of SummerSlam. We know by now that government officials in Massachusetts are not going to let a big scale event like that happen in their state with fans, so it’s just a matter of where Vince McMahon will take it. Will it be a replacement for WrestleMania in Tampa, Florida where things are moving faster than most other states? Or maybe it’s just allowing fans in the Performance Center or Full Sail again? Time will tell, but for sure, that time is coming as the public is just inching to get back to some form of normalcy.
Now, having said that, the industry could surely use the shot in the arm. Empty arena shows aren’t the biggest hits with TV viewers no matter what wrestling show you are watching. While it is giving TV time to those who may not have received it due to some talent not wanting to be at the tv tapings due to the on-going health crisis. I just wish that the WWE would acknowledge the reality of what’s going on outside their own four walls. It would help them and give them some needed flexibility. But then again, that’s just one man’s opinion and right now, the only opinion that counts is one Vincent Kennedy McMahon. So, I am guessing we won’t get that change anytime soon.

The Undertaker, Part 2 – This is the best thing going right now from WWE! Amazing that after all these years and a storied career, we got self-doubt from The Undertaker after his WrestleMania match with Roman Reigns. It was a wonderful look inside the comeback to face John Cena the following year at WrestleMania, in a match that even UT thought was too short after all the planning.

Welcome back KO – It was a good sight to see Kevin Owens back in the Monday Night RAW mix this week. Not only did we delight in the one-line quips directed at Natalya wrecking his KO Show set, but we also got some in-ring action in a tag-team win with Apollo Crews. We also like the continued push for Crews.
Bobby Lashley – THIS is the strong, monster-driven Lashley that we’ve wanted for some time. Aligning with MVP is a good thing. Now, I’d like some other superstars to join the stable as well!

Wrestling – From Murphy vs. Carrillo, Murphy vs. Black, Baszler vs. Nattie, the tag matches and the main event of Drew vs. Corbin, it was a solid in-ring presentation. I say that despite the fact I hated that they spent the first 30 minutes of the show with only in-ring promos.
Will @EdgeRatedR vs. @RandyOrton at #WWEBacklash be THE greatest wrestling match ever? https://t.co/zsycDlf5WD
— WWE (@WWE) May 19, 2020
Legends Promo – As normal, anytime Edge and Orton get to go head-to-head on the mic, it’s usually very good. Monday night was no exception. I would’ve liked to see Edge’s acceptance of the match dragged out a bit longer though. Now, what do we have left for the build-up? I’d like each of them to pick a solid “wrestling” opponent for them to face over the next few weeks to keep it interesting. Oh yeah, by the way, I have NO hopes that it remains a complete “wrestling” match throughout.
Meh:
mood—— pic.twitter.com/aziJpfitKx
— NattieByNature (@NatbyNature) May 19, 2020
Nattie’s Turn? – So, I guess here comes the frustrated Natalya heel turn after breaking up the KO Show set during her tirade from the tapping out to Shayna Baszler in the submission match. Samoa Joe said it best. It’s no shame to lose. Accept it and move on. This seems like all the turns we’ve seen before. I hope we are wrong.
Charlotte/Ruby – We love Charlotte Flair, but we don’t need to see her every show, do we? The match vs. Ruby Riott didn’t really do much for either, but I do like that The Queen is facing someone new each show. There was also NO WAY she was going to lose before a Champion vs. Champion match against Bayley on SmackDown Friday night.
50/50:
Austin Theory switches teams – In a matter of 30 minutes, Austin Theory gets beat down and thrown out of the Zelina Vega faction with Andrade and Angel Garza to joining Seth Rollins and Murphy (and the Authors of Pain when they come back) as the Monday Night Messiah’s newest minion. Seems a bit forced, but I’ll roll with it. I do like that we have two heel factions now facing off it seems coming up. That, I’ll give a thumbs up too.  Shades of the Attitude Era showing up in 2020.
Didn’t love:
DQ finishes – Having Bliss & Cross and Aleister Black win on another shady DQ finish seems lazy. We’ve seen run-ins all the time without ending the match as well as a superstar not heeding a ref’s warning without a DQ. Why now? Let it continue, especially in the case of the Women’s Tag Team Title Match. I’m sure that’s just to get to a stipulation for the Backlash PPV match. Just not a fan of the DQ finish folks.
Better left unsaid:
The Street Profits vs. The Viking Raiders in an axe-throwing contest to fulfill the “E” part of WWE I guess.

Opening Bang! – Starting the show with Karrion Kross & Scarlett dominating and then being welcome to NXT by Tommaso Ciampa was exactly what Ciampa deemed Kross & Scarlett – SPECIAL. It had that BIG feel to it, didn’t it?! Can’t wait until In Your House to see these square-off.

Drake gets his due – Kudos to Drake Maverick for doing what few thought he could do – WIN! Not only did Drake upset Kushida to stay alive, but he now has a shot to get into the Cruiserweight Tournament Finals with another victory next week – a three-way dance with Kushida and Jake Atlas.
Brewing:
Lee vs. Gargano – The current North American Champ, Keith Lee has interjected himself into the Mia Yim vs. Candace LeRae squirmish by taking on Johnny Gargano. Will it be a championship match next or some mixed tag-team action? Either way, it should be entertaining.

The Queen – Of course, Charlotte Flair stands tall on her own show as the NXT Women’s Champion takes out Io Shirai in the main event to give Rhea Ripley the loss as a precursor to Friday night’s battle with Bayley on SmackDown. Not a fan of the DQ finish, but it does help the story of the future three-way dance between the trio, which is now officially set for NXT TakeOver: In Your House in June.
Middling:
Lumis vs. Strong – A good match between these two leaves Strong with a sneak victory and brings back The Velveteen Dream into the mix to help Dexter Lumis from a post-match attack from Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish. We can see where this one is going….
Is it me or……
The Undisputed Era – Has some of the luster gone off TUE lately? It seems like the dominance just isn’t there. Adam Cole says there could be a celebration next week as he hits the one-year mark of being the NXT Champion. I just wonder who’s next to face Mr. Bay-Bay for the crown.
The Masked Mafia – I have no clue who they are or when they will be revealed. This week’s target – Akiro Tazawa. Maybe it’s part of Drake Maverick’s grandiose plan to save his job in NXT/WWE?  Or maybe El Hijo del Fantasma.
SMACKDOWN
RESULTS
Non-Title Universal Championship Match: Braun Strowman defeated The Miz
Intercontinental Championship Tournament First Round Match: AJ Styles defeated Shinsuke Nakamura
Champion vs. Champion Match: Bayley defeated Charlotte Flair
Sonya Deville & Dolph Ziggler defeated Mandy Rose & Otis
Intercontinental Championship Tournament First Round Match: Jeff Hardy defeated Sheamus
Overall this stacked SmackDown was easily the best show of the week! All quality and no fluff. Now, it may not show up in the ratings as it is the Friday night of a long, holiday weekend but it was the a good two-hours from the blue brand, continuing an upward trend the past few weeks.

AJ’s back in blue – Fresh off a trade from RAW for a “superstar to be named later, AJ Styles’ return to SmackDown is a successful one as he takes part in the Intercontinental Championship Tournament. In a rematch from WrestleMania 34, Styles wins the first round match in another really good match between the two. Let’s be honest, these two can’t have a bad match, right?
By any means necessary, @itsBayleyWWE takes down @MsCharlotteWWE on #SmackDown! #ChampionvsChampion pic.twitter.com/8rZtTTSdip

Champion vs. Champion – Odd that this wasn’t the main event of the show, but nonetheless, it was very, very good. Thankful that they didn’t have a predictable run-in from Sasha Banks to ruin this match. Bayley takes home the victory, with help from the ropes, in a surprising outcome for the battle of heel champions. The storyline is there and getting better. Loved the smack talk and expressions too throughout the match.
Sonya & Dolph – Heels in top form here! Sonya Deville and Dolph Ziggler take out their personal vendetta against Mandy Rose & Otis and it makes me wonder – at what point does Ziggler try to push Otis to put up that MITB case up for grabs against him.
Have we seen this before?:
Another challenge by @TheRealMorrison to @BraunStrowman has been made. This time for #WWEBacklash! pic.twitter.com/ZKrwMysKin
— WWE on FOX (@WWEonFOX) May 23, 2020
Braun Strowman’s Championship Handicap Match – Didn’t we just see Strowman lose his Intercontinental Title to Sami Zayn in a 3-on-1 handicap match at Elimination Chamber? Sure we did. Now, we get another championship handicap match at Backlash with Strowman defending the Universal Championship against The Miz and John Morrison. Why? Strowman already pinned Morrison last week in a tag match with Otis and this week, he took out The Miz in a singles affair. There’s got to be a better way to showcase a feud for SmackDown’s top title. Although, it would be interesting seeing how The Miz and John Morrison would co-exist as co-champions. That would be the only good payoff but at the same time further tarnishing Strowman again with a gimmick loss.
Good stuff:
The Dirt Sheet – Despite losing to Braun Strowman in an impromptu singles match, The Miz and John Morrison put together a very entertaining episode of the Dirt Sheet with enough shade to cover both Otis as well as Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. It made me laugh, as it usually does.
Hardy vs. Sheamus: Jeff Hardy gets the victory in a physical match. I don’t think it’s the last Hardy has seen of Sheamus though as I can see him getting involved in next week’s semi-final match vs. Daniel Bryan.
Parting shots:
Coming up this week:
RAW – Triple Threat #1 Contender’s Match: NXT Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Natalya vs. Nia Jax – Winner to face Asuka at Backlash (someone will have to explain to me how Nattie, who lost to Shayna Baszler for the second time last week and Charlotte Flair are in this match for the RAW Title Shot).
NXT – Cage Match: Matt Riddle vs. Timothy Thatcher / Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship Group A Triple-Threat Finals: Drake Maverick vs. Kushida vs. Jake Atlas
SmackDown – Intercontinental Championship Tournament Semi-finals: Daniel Bryan vs. Jeff Hardy / AJ Styles vs. Elias

For the purposes of further angst and guilt you could play with the different versions of DC's parallel dimensions.
Something to consider is that there's many different 'canon' versions of parallel dimensions in the DC universe. And even the mainline comics universe has had significant shifts in canon history due to in-universe events where characters' backstory changes, because the timeline was changed or multiple universes were merged.
So while cartoon Young Justice dimension is rough on Kon, his relationship with Clark in other parallel worlds either started off somewhat better and/or improved over time. Even Krypton's stance on cloning is different based on which version of canon you're pulling from. Sometimes the version of Krypton used cloning for reproduction, but sometimes cloning was seen as abhorrent.
Even Kon's name doesn't mean the same thing in Kryptonian in every parallel dimension. In at least one version he was named by Kara, and kon means abomination. I think in other versions someone else named him and it doesn't mean abomination or garbage.
There's also some dimensions where more Kryptonian bloodlines survived. In some, Brainiac stole and shrank an entire Kryptonian city and kept it in a jar terrarium thing. In some dimensions some Kryptonians left long before the planet exploded and settled on another planet and stopped calling themselves Kryptonians.
In some versions, Kon was taken in by Ma and Pa Kent. I think eventually he became family with Jon, Lois, and Clark.
So for angst purposes, what if by the time the ghosts brought the petition to Danny, Clark had already improved his relationship with Kon. Sure, maybe he didn't take the news of Kon well at the start, but he's gotten his head on straight since then, and Kon is family now. Or maybe this is the wrong version of Kon entirely, where there's a Kon out there in the multiverse that's still being treated badly, but this world's Kon is part of the Kent-Lane family now.
But ghosts don't pay much attention to the passage of time, especially when in the Infinite Realms, because they're functionally immortal. And time in the Realms doesn't necessarily pass at the same rate in every dimension of Earth. And are all these ghosts even all watching the same version of Kon?
So from Clark's POV, this interdimensional King rocks up and tells Clark that because of his rocky relationship at first with Kon, years ago, all the ghosts of his dead family declared him a child abuser. And now he's here to steal Kon away from his family.
Does Kon even know about this? This King likely hasn't even talked to Kon about this yet, either, otherwise he'd know that they'd been building a better relationship together. Does the King, and the ghosts of House El, even care what Kon thinks? They certainly don't care about what Clark thinks, or how hard Clark has been trying to do better by Kon. Kon knows though. Right? Of course he does. Kon's so much more independent than Jon, but surely he knows how much Clark cares about him.
Clark wants to say hell no to losing Kon. But will that cause an interdimensional incident? A war?
How can Clark save Kon from being basically stolen away by a sort of undead fae King, never to be heard from again? They think he's Kon's abuser, how can he possibly convince them not to take his boy, Kon, away? Can he even stop them from just portalling in and kidnapping Kon?
