omg the thing thag @scrimblyscrorblo said about giyuu potentially having a whole genetic disease got my brain going ngl
————————————————————————
giyuu probably already knew he was doomed from the start, especially since eves his sister started to show some symptoms of the disease that tore is his family members apart from the inside.
giyuu didn’t tell anyone cause he didn’t want pity, the only person who really knew was kanae but she’s out of the picture now so basically no one knows. the sickness is very stealthy and only visible if you really pay attention to giyuu’s body language. like if he’s silently coughing or paler than usual or just overall weaker than usual. he gets a LOT of flare ups and it’s genuinely so annoying to him.
has shinobu noticed? obviously, she’s a doctor after all. she’s tried to secretly look at giyuu’s vitals during physical exams and she sees nothing. UNLESS- she looks in kanaes super convenient office that she hasn’t touched in years. and what does she find?? super old demon slayer corps files on tomiokas. omg the demon slayer corps keeping a record on giyuu’s family for literal generations?! and she was APPALLED by the effects of the illness.
and what shinobu found the most interesting was that she wasn’t the first to think about poisoning herself to avenge a family member. yep the tomiokas pulled that card cause they found out about muzan probably killing a small part of their family and they were like “no, fuck you im going to kill you no matter how long it takes” and then here we are. with a sick giyuu who doesn’t even know that he’s a lil human bomb for the demon king. which yes, that does mean giyuu would have to die by being consumed or have his blood somehow be in muzans body.
the poison probably ain’t even wisteria at all, probably smth worse the smart tomioka made 500 years ago just to be petty and kill or at least weaken muzan.
giyuu’s carrying an anger that isn’t even his his WHOLE life. he has expectations from family he doesn’t even know. his short temper and bitter demeanor isn’t his at all, it’s his ancestors. the angry, hate filled ancestors that want muzan gone.
the symptoms are a lil funky so here they are: aching joints, fevers, vomiting, mild allergic reactions to wisteria and high ranked demons (the closer to muzan, the stronger the effects), sudden fatigue, lack of appetite and sleep, aggressive outbursts (ancient anger boiling over), sudden headaches, temporary loss of sight (his ancestors want a peak of what he’s seeing), loss of voice, lack of energy, slight memory loss, hallucinations(his family make themselves known to him), dizziness, anxiety, paranoia.
long story short giyuu is not having a good time

Uzui x (female) reader
(Name) sat on a fence, swinging her legs and humming to herself, the gentle summer breeze really lifting her mood.
It was a beautiful spot, perfect for relaxing. On one side of the fence was the butterfly estate, where she was staying temporarily, and on the other was a meadow, with a stream trickling along just below her.
She closed her eyes, smiling slightly as she continued to hum. She didn’t get much alone time like this, so she made sure to treasure it.
“(Name)! Be my girlfriend!”
She shrieked, spinning around to see who had intruded on her. But in this action lost her balance and fell, straight into the water.
“Ah! Are you ok?”
(Name) looked up, meeting eyes with the owner of the voice, Uzui Tengen.
“Are you hurt anywhere?” He called down once again.
(Name) slowly got to her feet and shouted up, “just my dignity.”
The entire back of her clothing was soaked. She let out a huff of annoyance and glanced back up at Uzui. “What do you wa—“ she was cut off.
“Be my girlfriend!” Uzui smirked. There was no way someone could resist him, even after that.. incident.
“No.” The girl responded bluntly.
But of course, Uzui should’ve expected this. (Name) had somewhat of a reputation in the demon hunters. She treated everyone exactly the same, like she didn’t care if they were alive. Even the pillars.
However, Uzui had not expected this. How could someone so.. plain, resist someone as flamboyant as he? Well, nevermind. He would certainly woo her somehow.
“Can you.. go? I kinda need this spot to sit and do nothing.”
Uzui laughed, the perfect opportunity! “Then I shall sit here and do nothing with you!.. flamboyantly!” He added on the end.
“Nah, I’m good. I’ll just find somewhere else.” “Name turned away and started walking.
“Eh? Wait!” Uzui yelled.
A tick mark appeared on (names) head as she turned around. “I’m waiting.”
“Spend a week with me! By the end of it you’ll definitely wanna go out with me!”
“...I’m good.” The girl turned back around, only to be stopped by another cry from the male.
“Why not?!” He was confused, no denying it.
“I don’t wanna go out with you. Why would I spend a week with you, letting you try to ‘woo’ me?”
Uzui frowned, damn that girl and her logic!
“Because..” his frown turned into a triumphant grin, “either its one voluntary week with me.. or an involuntary lifetime! And if at the end of the week you say no, I’ll leave you alone!”
(Name) flinched. He had a point. But.. “don’t you already have three wives?? Are you trying to catch us all like Pokemon or something?”
“Wh— just come with me!” Uzui snapped, hopping down from the fence and grabbing her arm, leading her away.
(Name) had never been good with people. She’d never enjoyed the company of people, and she’d never enjoyed attention from people. She she felt extremely awkward as she sat at a table in Uzuis estate, watching him sip his tea.
“Aren’t you gonna drink? Or do you find my face that interesting?” He practically sparkled as he shot her a dazzling smile.
“Ew..” was all she could respond with, before continuing, “I don’t like tea.”
“Eh?” Uzui felt his smirk fall. “Who doesn’t like tea?!” He cried out, rubbing his temple.
“Me.” She replied, brushing a strand of hair out of her face.
“Ugh.. well, even if you don’t like tea, you’re sure to like the flamboyant dinner I have prepared for you!” He cackled to himself, she wouldn’t be able to resist.
(Name) sat at a much bigger table this time, glancing from side to side. “So... you guys are ok with this?” She asked, raising her eyebrows as she looked at each of his wives in turn.
“Eh? Of course we are!” One of the said, leaning forward and smiling at Uzui who, unsurprisingly, sat at the head of the table.
They were all engaging in, god forbid, small talk, leaving (Name) very much out of here element.
Eventually, she had enough of the suffocating atmosphere, and said, “ok, that’s it. I’m going back to the butterfly estate. If you really want, you can come get me tomorrow.”
She was about to leave when Uzui said, “aren’t you staying here?”
“No.” She replied, not even turning around. “Where’s my sword?” That made her turn around.
“I have it. I even have a guest room prepared for you! It has to be an entire week together, or you won’t understand my flamboyant charm!”
(Name) was starting to have enough of this, and it was only the first day. “Ok, that’s it. This probably counts as abduction! Shinobu expects me back soon, and if I don’t show up she’ll... hit Giyuu or something— but that’s not the point!”
“Oh, I’ve already told Shinobu that you’re staying with me this week.” Uzui replied, ‘helpfully’
“Oh, well isn’t that just great??” (Name) snapped. “Where’s my room? And my sword?”
Uzui sighed, “can’t this wait until after we eat—“
“No.”
“But—“
“N O.”
Uzui seemed to get the message. “Ok, fine.” He turned to his three wives, “I’ll be back in just a second.”
The walk was painfully awkward, neither saying anything, and when Uzui tried to spark up a conversation (Name) shot him a glare that shut him up.
“Well.. this is it! Rather flamboyant wouldn’t you say?” Uzui regained his usual vigour, striking a pose.
“Sword.” (Name) remained unimpressed, holding out her hand expectantly.
Uzui sighed and handed it to her, giving up on getting in any small talk. “Get a good sleep, we have a big day tomorrow!” The door slammed in his face.
(Name) had been with Uzui for 6 days, meaning that the torturous week would be over soon. If anything, the more time she spent with Uzui, the more annoying he got.
“(Name)!”
Speak of the devil. (Name) was about to respond with a snarky remark when she turned around and saw a look of panic on his face.
“I’ve been called on an urgent mission, I’m really sorry!” And with that he ran off. But... damnit, that man knows how to get to her!
“An urgent mission..? Wait! What is it? Let me go!” She grabbed her sword and ran after him with the most energy she’d had all week.
“What are you doing here?” He snapped, “I’m going to kill the Demon quickly and flamboyantly! You’ll just get in the way!”
“Shut up, you have three wives! I never get sent on exciting missions! I’m coming along whether you like it or not!”
The two arrived at the sight of the mission rather quickly, and what the saw was a massacre. An entire village torn to shreds, blood seemingly everywhere.
“Wh—“ the air was snatched out of (Name)s lungs as she found herself no longer beside Uzui, but in a dark room.
She drew her sword, glancing around.
“Damnit (Name), you always do this.”
(Name) froze up. That voice.. sounded too familiar.
“Who’s.. there.?” There was a slight tremble in her voice as she tried to convince herself that voice didn’t belong to who she thought it did.
“Why, I’m offended.. I would’ve thought you’d recognise me.” A figure appeared in front of her, a boy with brown hair and golden eyes.
“Though.. maybe this’ll jog your memory?” His body started twisting, limbs cracking, a scream laving his throat only to be cut off when his head twisted all the way around.
(Name) fell to her knees, tears appearing in her eyes.
“You couldn’t save me.. what, do you think you can make up for it? Become a demon slayer and kill many others? Do you think saving any old lives with repent?”
He stated walking forwards, hands reaching out. “It’s ok, we can be together now..”
His head flew off his shoulders, appearance changing as his begun to disintegrate.
“(Name)! Are you ok?” Uzui ran towards her and grabbed the crying girls shoulders. She looked so weak and vulnerable, like a completely different person.
She couldn’t even speak. God, she hated herself! Why was she so weak? She couldn’t do anything!
She didn’t even notice Uzui pulling her into a hug. At least, not until it was too late.
“Wh— Get.. off..” her voice lacked any strength or conviction, and her arms were shaking too much. It felt nice.. to be comforted. But it was scary, after having closed everyone off, she didn’t know how to let them in.
But.. maybe she could start with Uzui?
She slowly wrapped her arms around him, allowing the tears to fall.
“You win, Uzui...” she murmured.
“Eh? What?” He asked, glancing down at the small figure.
“One week...” was all she said, as they fell into a comfortable silence, a grin donning Uzuis face.
“One week, huh?”
