Yeah ok the actual phrase is "you can't spell subtext without buttsex" and it's clever because of the anagram and blatant connotation. I wouldn't expect the cw to actually put that in their show. Fan Fiction was total fanservice, but it was also a caricature of fandom. It's an in-joke for those in the know, but you have to know to REALLY know, y'know?
#anyway im actually fine with them changing it because the in-show fandom is a separate entity from the real fandom#kinda like how french mistake-verse is not the real world but an au of it
