Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for the first whole week of February. I feel like this month is going to be amazing. I’m manifesting that for us! I found this quote the other day, and it’s one of the best affirmations I’ve read. Last week, I was in a slump, but this quote reminded me to keep going and persevere. “Make silent moves. Take risks. Seek no validation & do the shit that lights your soul on fire.” I asked myself, “Why do I write? Why do I break my own heart every time I put pen to page?” Because. I’m full of emotions and have to get them out. So, I write. I write what makes me happy; I write what makes me angry; I write what makes me curl up into a ball and cry at night. I need it. I have to do it. It’s like breathing to me. And I put it out into the world because maybe I’m not alone in my thinking. Perhaps, someone out there feels like me too. I don’t write to seek validation or accolades. I do it for the many people who message me and tell me that my words meant something to them. That they related to it on a deeper level. In the past, people have told me that if I changed my writing style, and became more provocative, maybe I’ll have higher numbers. Or if I wrote happier pieces, I’d get more engagement and more followers. To them, I say, “If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.” This applies to every aspect of life, I think. Not just in work but in personal relationships as well. So what’s my point? Well, do you. Do what makes you smile. Do what brings you joy. Do what you like, for no one else but you. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 I hope you had a great weekend and got all the rest you needed to start a brand-new week. I saw this quote yesterday, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. “Stop letting people who are at war with themselves destroy you.” This makes me think of many friendships/relationships I’ve had where the other person would put me down because they were in a dark place. And by virtue of my past, I would take it. I would take the viciousness and the humiliation partly because I didn’t want to lose them and partly due to the fact that I was afraid to be alone. This goes along with what we’ve been discussing for a while now. We’ve got to learn to walk away, regardless of what may come. If they cared for us, they wouldn’t feel so comfortable hurting us. Your self-worth and integrity are not up for debate or discussion; don’t forget that. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 The first week of the New Year is already done and in the books. Can you believe it? I saw this quote earlier and wanted to share it with y’all. “Stop being the "go-to" for someone you can't go to.” Too often, we put ourselves on the line for others’ happiness to the detriment of our well-being. We want to do everything for everyone and don’t hesitate when they need us. But who do we call when the nightmares keep us awake at night? Or the stress of work/school is so bad that anxiety has crippled us? If they can’t be there for you like you are there for them, do they deserve to have that much access to you? Some people have gotten so used to you being there, being someone they can rely on, that it becomes expected of you. And then they become angry with you if you’re not there. Is that fair to you? To spend so much of your mental energy on someone who can’t reciprocate? I speak from personal experience. I have been there far too many times. You are worth more than being a “go-to.” You deserve to be heard, valued, and loved. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend. I certainly have. I’ve been surrounded by so much warmth and love. As I’ve said before, this time of year is always so difficult for me. My father passed away the day after Christmas in a car accident when I was a child, and sometimes it feels so damn hard. But being with family and friends and all the joy that comes with it certainly helps. Between presents and cooking today, I found this quote, and it resonated with me. “You were made for far more beautiful things. Chaos is only understood when it is loved by the wild, not the weak.” I want you to remember, as this year is winding down, that no matter what you’ve gone through and how many hardships you’ve had, you deserve to be here, so don’t stop fighting for tomorrow. The tears you’ve cried and the smiles you’ve smiled have all brought you here to this moment. The New Year will come, and new memories and experiences will be had. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 How was your weekend? I’m still sick, but I feel a little better than yesterday, so I’m happy. It’s progress. I saw this quote earlier, and it resonated with me and everything we’ve been talking about. I don’t know about you, but in the past, I’ve found that I would make myself small to let someone in my life feel bigger. What do I mean? I would put my own successes and accomplishments on the back burner, so I wouldn’t make them feel less than others. I would diminish my light so that they could shine. I still make deprecating jokes about myself sometimes. It’s a process that I’m still working on. I’m still trying to love who I am and be proud of myself. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 How was your weekend? I spent the majority of my time in bed, sick. But this is a new week, and hopefully, I’ll be back to 100% soon. The past two years have taught me so much. I had been so busy trying to make everyone comfortable and happy that I forgot about myself. I forgot what made me happy or got up in the morning. I forgot what made me smile. I got to a point where I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the woman staring back at me. I lost myself. And then, one day, I woke up. I started writing again, running again, and loving myself again. In the process, I had to confront some uncomfortable truths. That there were people in my life that didn’t want me to change or evolve. They wanted things to stay stagnant because it was beneficial for them. They couldn’t recognize my worth, my value as someone who just wanted to be free and happy. This hasn’t come without its challenges. I’ve lost people who I thought were friends. People who I thought loved me. And though it was hard to let them go, I’ve gained so much more. I found myself again. This quote reminds me that no matter how difficult it gets or how lonely the path may be, those that value you will stick by your side and believe in everything you do. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 How was your weekend? I enjoyed my time off. I did a lot of recharging and recovery, which was exactly what I needed. I even started decorating for Christmas, which, if you know me, is a huge deal. To follow this theme of self-worth and evaluation, I wanted to share with you a quote I found. I think I read over it and over, like, five times. The words really resonated with me because, as we’ve discussed before, people who can’t/don’t see our value do not belong in our lives. We’ve come too far to continue to let people use and abuse us. We’ve grown too much to let someone else take our joy. Just because we’re used to how they’ve treated us does not mean we deserve it. It’s quite the opposite. We have the right to be treated with love and kindness and not given scraps of attention to keep the status quo. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 How was your weekend? Mine went by fairly quickly, but I have this whole next week off, so I can hopefully get some much-needed rest. Lately, we've been talking a lot about valuing ourselves, haven’t we? I think for me, at least, I need to be reminded of my self-worth and how I shouldn't settle for less, on a daily basis. I think because of trauma in my childhood, I, as an adult, would seek out others’ validation or approval as a measure of my worth. I would go out of my way to please others to the detriment of myself. But one day, I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself. The girl staring back at me was different from how I viewed myself. The girl in the mirror terrified me. That’s when I started my journey. I stopped caring about what “they” thought or said and started doing what made me happy and felt good. For once in my life, I felt proud of myself. I was comfortable in my skin. And I knew in my heart that I was worth so much more than what I had grown accustomed to. I say all that to say this, “Stop crossing oceans for people who won't jump puddles for you.” You are more than what “they” think of you, and you deserve to be treated with the same love, respect, and common decency that you give others. Stop doing so much for people who, if given the opportunity to help you, would just look away or gaslight you into thinking you’re asking for too much. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 How was your weekend? Mine was wonderful. I went to see Black Panther twice and loved every minute of it. And I took some time for myself just to decompress. It was nice. I saw this quote yesterday, and it stuck with me. We’ve been talking lately about letting people go who no longer have a place in our lives. I feel as though, in relationships, we try to change who we are to make the other person happy, sometimes to the detriment of our mental health and wealth. We want that connection so desperately that we're willing to put their needs over ours. And then, one day, we wake up. We realize what our value is. We Understand what our worth truly is. That means setting boundaries and letting them know what exactly you need. If they understand you and care, they'll listen with open hearts and minds. If not, well, now you know. Happy Sunday, my loves 💜🖤💜 How was your weekend? I feel like more went by so fast; I didn’t have time to really enjoy it! I can’t believe that the first week of November is already gone. Honestly, I hope the rest of the month flies by just as fast! I read this quote earlier today, and it really shook me. Mainly because I can relate to it so much. I think I’ve posted it before, but it still rings true today as it did back then. These days, I find myself less and less focused on what other people think and feel about me and more focused on how I feel about myself. For too long, I sought approval from others who didn’t care how they treated me. They knew I would always be there so they could walk all over me, and I wouldn’t leave. Until one day, I did. If you haven’t already, I know, you’ll find the strength to do so because you’ve come too far to turn back. Even if you feel like you haven’t done much, you have. You’re a different person from the 2021 version of you. And the 2023 version of you will be better than this one. So don’t stick around with people who could care less. What have I been telling you? Let them go and walk away. You owe it to yourself to find happiness and peace. November is on the horizon, and I’m pretty excited about it. I’m always down for new experiences and making new memories. I saw this quote earlier this afternoon, and it really resonated with me. But here we are, once again, at the start of a new one with new possibilities ahead. I’m pretty excited about it, too, ngl. Halloween is right around the corner, and I cannot wait. Anyway, I saw this quote earlier this morning, and I really liked it, so I wanted to share it with you. I wonder what, if anything, it means to you? What’s your take on it? Because for me, it means I’m in charge of my destiny. No longer am I waiting for someone else to save me. No longer am I scared to step out into the light. My fate is my own to decide. Life is too short to wonder what it could be. So if I want it, I’m going for it. Besides, if things don’t work out, at least I’ll know that I tried and I have a plan B, C, and D.
