I rarely ever get second couple syndrome. In fact, I’ve watched dozens of kdramas and BLs at this point, and KimChay are the *only* second couple (or you might even call them third couple?) that I prefer. And it’s not just prefer, I straight up don’t like either of the other couples in KPTS.

Over a year since I first watched KPTS, and I’m still stuck on KimChay. I’m even now writing fiction about them! Literally so few couples have stayed with me this way. And if you asked my preference in general, I would say happy ending is an absolute necessity. But their bittersweet ending somehow captivated me in a way that usually doesn’t.

It’s really mostly Kim, I just see him as such a special character. It’s an incredible shame that all the shit went down to make it unlikely we will get a KPTS2, because I would *love* to see Kim’s character growth.

I am thankful that BOC at least gave us closure with the skit of then reuniting, so at least I can be secure in the knowledge that Kim and Chay got their happy ending.

But really, the fact that we AREN’T getting more of their story is probably a large reason why folks are still churning out KimChay fics, there’s just so much potential.

Anyway, this is just a totally random post to say, “I love you, Kimhant Theerapanyakul!”

I have to confess that while I love both spellings for Kim's full first name, I will always read Kimhant to the cadence of ten-hut

So like....here's the thing for me....the way my mind separates them all.

We have WiK:

We know WiK is a persona, we know it for several reasons. One is that Kim tells us in his reveal to Chay of his name. The second is that we know that in general every celebrity has a public persona. This doesn't mean that WiK is some entirely made up character, merely that he is only what Kim wants to show the public. He's a softened version of Kim, and in some ways an idealized version of who he would like to be. We get that from the reveal conversation as well when he tells Chay that WiK is another side of him "a side he likes better."

We have Kim:

Kim is just everyday Kim, essentially his default. Kim is who we know as a person is thinking mostly about protecting his loved ones, while still holding himself separate from them. He's not a persona, but he's also not revealing all parts of himself. He's dangerous, but only when threatened.

We have Kimhant:

Kimhant is the youngest son of the Theerapanyakul family. He's dangerous, he's emotionless. He's the weapon of the family. Like WiK this is a persona that Kim projects with purpose. If he's encountering someone who's already been told to fear him, that's going to make his job easier. His priority is the Family (and as a byproduct this protects his siblings).

I think there's a few times in the series where you get small glimpses into who Kim really is, which is kind of this amalgamation of WiK, Kim, & Kimhant. The scenes where he's wrestling with himself over continuing to see Chay, and the scene with his brothers when they learn about their dad's death. Kim/Kimhant is almost always a little cold, very much reserved, WiK is not overly emotional, but is able to express a lot of emotion through his music. And these scenes aren't overt expressions of emotion, but small glimpses before control shuts those doors. (And I have my own theories about why Kim maintains this emotional control, most related to his emotions being used against him by Korn.)

Look at this and tell me these are not two siblings who love to gossip.

Fuck that Porsche being protective and believing his brother is a baby. Not immediately obv Kim needs a shovel talk and Chay needs a hug.

I give you Porsche and Porchay who sit and gossip about their love lives and boyfriends.

Porsche giving chay advice on how to keep Kim on his toes. Helping him write/ being the first to hear the songs Chay wrote for Kim in their “ima sing my heart out to you” stage. Him hearing how much Kim loves his little brother and accepting their relationship when they make up with minimal threats. After they make up immediately adopts Kim cause he’s nong shaped and goddamit he needs a hug. Kinn and Khun being jealous in the background.

Chay helping his technologically behind brother find places to go on for dates. Listening to his Hia rant about whatever Kinn did that either pisses him of or turns him into a pile of mush. Maybe Porsche eventually telling Chay in a quiet voice what all happened leading up to his and Kinns relationship. Chay being horrified and while Porsche talks him into forgiveness and acceptance especially by telling him all the good Kinn did and such he later goes to talk to Kinn in his office. Telling him in a soft but dangerous tone that he accepts that what happened is in the past and that Kinn has apologised but if even the idea of doing something like crosses his mind he will slowly and painfully kill Kinn. Then he learns about what Vegas did to Porsche.

And eventually maybe Pete joins them too.

Summary:

Chay knows they need to have a conversation about it, about Kim chipping pieces of himself away and using them to build a shelter around Chay, that relationships aren’t supposed to function like that. Kim isn’t a sacrifice to be laid at Chay’s feet in the hopes of getting affection in return. Chay loves Kim as he is, he doesn’t need to be bought, but it’s obvious Kim has forgotten how to experience the unconditional part of love.

A/N:

A little fic as part of my multi-fandom series '100 Ways to Say 'I Love You'. The prompt this time around was "I was in the neighbourhood." (Chosen at random by @the-cookie-of-doom) And I wanted to explore the ways disagreements and messing up can also be part of a loving and healthy relationship; especially in new relationships as you work out how you fit together, and so this fic was born! Chay fucks up a little, and Kim has trouble enforcing his boundaries. So they talk about it!

Opinion of Unknown Popularity

I've been considering this for a while now and you know what? I just fully do not believe that Porchay "Superfan and Wattpad Devotee" Kittisawat did not know that Wik was Kimhant Theerapanyakul, third son of local millionaire businessman and Bread Company Sponsor Korn Theerapanyakul.

You cannot tell me that all the Thai fangirls did not dig into his background and dig up everything they could get their grubby hands on. I have seen KPop Stans and JPop Stans and they scare me. They can find out what train station you're at from a selfie, they can tell who you're eating with from a reflection on a cafe spoon. And Wik is open about what university he attends/attended, doing a concert there as a successful alumni.

No. They know Kimhant Theerapanyakul is playing the Hannah Montana game.

This doesn't really change anything, Chay would absolutely still let Kim do his little stage name secret reveal just to Play It Cool. I'll even be generous that the stans didn't uncover any mafia shit.

But Chay absolutely knows that his man Wik is not so secretly the troubled youngest son of a millionaire in addition to being beautiful and singing songs Chay loves. It just adds even more layers to the Wik x Reader fanfic being written in Chay's head the second he lays eyes on Kim in person.

Kimhant Theerapanyakul was prepared for a lot of things in prison: stabbing, gang negotiation, gang violence, uncomfortable crowding and a truly unpleasant sleeping situation, to name a few. What he hadn’t expected was for a marshmallow human with eyes the size of a pleading kitten to stumble into him on a Tuesday afternoon.

He hissed at the intruder foolish enough to invade his space - most people weren’t stupid or suicidal enough to purposefully antagonize him - but stopped short of shoving the offender to the ground and brandishing his knife. The small man gasped, a high-pitched, forlorn sound, and for the first time after a long year of bland food, smelly neighbors and no privacy, Kim felt something other than disgust.

He took a moment to study him. The boy was visibly shaking, refusing to look up and meet Kim’s eyes, so he was new, or crazy, or both.

“Name?” he demanded briskly.

Look at that patented Theerapanyakul madness in Kim's eyes.

He successfully scared former inspector Manop. Well, a threat to your daughter's life (the one whose wellbeing you sacrificed normal life for) can do it to a man, sure. Even if you are a seasoned police chief.

Kim successfully scared some thugs. Well, a fist to your side and a bottle to your head can do it to a man, sure. Even if you are a seasoned punch thrower yourself.

Kim successfully scared this random guy. Random guy was either drunk enough or sure of himself enough that a kick from a stranger didn't impress him. He probably counted on his friends too (I don't think he registered clearly enough that they are drunk beyond help themselves).

But this stare along with the finger stopped him dead. That one he registered all right.

Kim delivers his point across with theatrical (hello Kinn, hello Khun, hello Vegas, hello Korn) lengths. He's not in a hurry. (As for us chickens viewers one eye is enough to get that point)

Now we have Porchay Sunshine Kittisawat who may know some soft side of Kim but can't be sure if it's real. What he is absolutely sure of is that Kim is the Kimhant Theerapanyakul with all the regal complimentary stuff like ruthlessness, deceit, power. Chay is yet to know that as a Theerapanyakul Kim is able to increase mortality rate in not so close range without breaking a sweat, but he knows enough.

Then Kim quite rudely dragges Chay to a side, and what we see, how Chay emerges from this humiliating manhandling?

Porchay Sunshine Kittisawat is in rage. The sun is about to go supernova. Porsche didn't raise a sucker.

Chay is too polite and still likes Kim to outright cuss him, but it is highlighted in every fiber of his being anyway: "Piss off, man!"

Kim must try again of course, because he is the son of his father and I don't mean Korn's protection (is that a thing, really?) I mean Korn's legacy.

So Kim scolds Chay. Chay doesn't budge and the finger comes out to play again. Unsuccessfully. Did it even happen to Kim before?

Epic fail.

Make his own decisions, seriously? Kim, bb, you are here because Chay just did make his damn decision! Maybe the first one of such importance in his life.

Miscommunication happened, no shit.

But the fact is Chay wasn't... or maybe he was - scared, a little. More in shock probably. But he absolutely wasn't - stopped. He wasn't stopped by Kim, no matter the hard try. He wasn't intimidated.

He's a match, right? <3

Raw force of Chay's emotions scared him shitless. And that's when he was in absolute hurry to fuck off with his thinned dignity smouldering at the edges. If he were to come across Lethe along the way I bet he'd gladly dank himself in its cool waters to forget that.
