random thought but why do people say killer and cross were partners in underverse when they weren’t. killer and xchara were. I don’t recall killer and cross even so much as interacting before that end credits scene where cross defended Dream and then the whole nightmare & killer vs cross & dream stuff

I warn you, it's very long and I went on several tangents

Okay so

When Dream and Nightmare were kids, they could sense auras

But

Nightmare had more practice because he used it to sense if the villagers were nearby so he could hide before they saw him

Dream was lazier (because it's not fair Nightmare gets all the Sans traits) and so he didn't practice

This is why the villagers were able to keep tricking him and how Nightmare's injuries managed to escape his attention

Also, while Nightmare had originally touched the golden apples to try and take care of them, when they turned black, he ate them cuz one of the villagers attacked him (hence the missing eye socket) and he figured if he was going out, he'd do it painlessly

Only he got a power boost instead and lost his mind for a bit

When Dream got statued, it was because the negativity-positivity balance was awful and needed him to stop spreading positivity for a while

Nightmare thought he was dead tho so he left the AU since it hurt to see him like that and he blamed himself

The reason Cross and Ink 'broke up' in Underverse is because Cross found out Ink knew where XGaster('s bit of soul) was and didn't tell him

This (combined with XChara's retelling of the timelines) made Cross feel unsafe and less trusting so when he asked Ink to bring back his AU and he said he couldn't, he assumed he was lying again and didn't want to spend time with Ink anymore

Cross is terrified of Error for obvious reasons

So if Ink shows up to help him out with Error, Cross won't complain about that

Dust's brother is real and is able to stay near Dust and haunt him because his dust is on the scarf Dust wears

....That sentence may be confusing, but you get what I mean

Nightmare can sense Phantom, Dust is just the only one who can see him

I also have several headcanons for how like... ship kids are born and how they're fed as babies but idk if you'd be comfortable with that so I'm not gonna tell you those

Dream spreads positivity, but not as much as he could because Swap makes him lay down and rest at night

He doesn't need sleep but Swap will attempt to stay awake if he doesn't so he tries

The only reason Ink doesn't get the same treatment is because he purposely avoids Swap when he knows he's gonna be forced to sleep

Nightmare doesn't know how you're supposed to treat people you care about, so this results in him threatening to throw people out windows if they do not eat/sleep at regular intervals

Killer fucked around and found out once so the others do as he says

They don't fear Nightmare until they realize they've forgotten the self-care lol

When Cross joined, he kept forgetting to eat and sleep because the white void he was vibing in didn't have a way to keep track of time

Nightmare could tell he was genuinely trying tho so he was spared the window treatment

Sci is a psychologist but everyone keeps asking him to help with machines and stuff so he's learned engineering too

Horror is good at cooking after years of making food after joining the gang

It's like... comforting to him to make his own food

Sometimes, his food tastes funny tho cuz he experiments

Killer, at one point, was able to cook

Now he cannot because his tears are very flammable

It isn't his fault but he's still been banned from the kitchen :[

Dust can make ramen

That's it

Swap is also good at cooking, but keeps burning himself by accident

He's made food for him and his brother for years, but he always burns himself somehow

Nightmare, Dream, and Ink cannot cook because they don't need food for different reasons

Neither does Error, but he likes chocolate

Speaking of chocolate, Cross is lactose intolerant but that doesn't stop him

Horror tries to make food to accommodate him but it doesn't matter cuz he'll just take the other stuff too and eat it

Nightmare and Dream can talk to plants thanks to their tree mother

Dream represents childlike joy

Dawn/DS!Dream (not to be confused with SD!Dream/Swad) is pride

Shattered is sadism

And Swad is aggressive positivity

Like that "You will love yourself, or I will deck you across the room" type stuff

Nightmare is fear

DS!Nightmare/Dusk is slightly pride-leaning since he ate one of the golden apples but mostly he's anger (though he tries not to show it)

Illusion (the name I use for Shattered's Nightmare) is grief because that was what he experienced in the 10 seconds he was on screen in the original comic

And Swan is depression

Yeah, so this is why Swad is always chasing his brother down

In his crazed mind, his brother needs the most 'help'

Error has a hard time killing children and always hesitates

This is because he used to always want a kid but forgot after he found himself in the Anti-Void

Well, no, he didn't forget

He just doesn't want to admit it anymore
