Comparison of select cards from the following tarot decks
1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣
⬜️4️⃣⬜️
1️⃣: Before Tarot by Corrine Kenner, Floreana Nativo, Pietro Alligo
2️⃣: The Original Rider-Waite by A. E. Waite, Pamela Colman-Smith
3️⃣: After Tarot by Corrine Kenner, Pietro Alligo, Giulia F. Massaglia
4️⃣: Tarot of the New Vision by Pietro Alligo, Raul Cestaro
The Before Tarot imagines what the original RWS scenes would look like a few moments before, while the After Tarot shows what happens a few moments after. Tarot of the New Vision shows the RWS image from a different perspective (180 degree rotation from original image).
I love using these decks together, but wish that the artwork and style had been more consistent. All of these decks were created by different artists and you can definitely see the difference. Also, I’m not sure what’s going on with the Original RWS, but this particular version is poorly colored (everything is way too red).
Overall, I enjoy the concept behind each deck.

The Ostara Tarot is my current favorite. It’s a collaborative deck featuring the artwork of four extremely talented artists. I usually don’t like collaborative decks because the styles tend to be so different that it’s distracting and readings feel disjointed. This is not the case with the Ostara Tarot. While you can tell that there are four distinct styles, I think that they go well together. The deck is standard size, has silver gilding, and comes with a full color guidebook. Some cards follow Rider Waite Smith imagery closely (3 of swords, 7 of swords) but many images are quite different. The artwork is dreamy and gorgeous and I find it very easy to read with.
The only things I don’t love about this deck are really minor details.
1. My personal preference for a deck box is that it fits the entire deck, in one stack. The box has two sections, one for each half of the deck.
2. I usually like decks with borders but I wish this deck didn’t have any. The images do extend to the edge of the cards so it is borderless in that way. But they also have a tiny white border that kind of breaks up the image.
Those are the only things about this deck that I’m not totally in love with.
A few other tarot decks I love:
-Prisma Visions
-Fairy Tale Tarot
-Alchemical Tarot
-The Rabbit Tarot
.... and many more lol. It’s hard to narrow it down 😅
I’m in the market…
What is your most beloved tarot deck and why?
