When it comes to wataei, I sometimes wonder which is more the victim, poor Tomoya or poor Keito. Both are so funny to mess with

easy answer they fill different niches in wataru’s jester heart <3 keito is like. rival and equal that wataru can tease in a rival way. romantic way even. tomoya is like. wataru teases her in the hopes of guiding her towards a path as her mentor. yknow. wataru is but a jester he simply must engage in sillies as he forms meaningful relationships with the people around him <3

Reading your analysis about Valk + the fact you said you were going to reread Crossroads made me think that the theme of "imperfection in art is necessary" is also present in Tsukinaga's arc, especially as explained in Next Door: a genius who wants nothing more than to see what others can do, but ending up being the only one creating, as others feel it's a waste of time. Sort of like a mirror image of Shu? I'm connecting the dots!!

YEAH holy shit you’re so right… leo’s monologue in checkmate about how in his desire to help people flourish to the top of their capabilities and write the “perfect” song he ended up overwriting their own desires and autonomy and creative capacities… it is a fun little mirror image to shu because i think shu is definitely at least somewhat aware of the costs of his perfectionism - at the very least i think shu is aware that humans arent capable of perfection, dolls are, and to turn valkyrie and mika and nazuna into his perfect view of art he must turn them from humans to dolls. with leo i think it’s a bit more uhhh…. innocent? if i can use that word… leo genuinely thinks hes helping people and thats why i think he beats himself up so much about it once he realizes after the fact

plus (and this is really uh . going places with this line of analysis) you can throw some of that - at least leo’s angle of it - onto parts of izumi and makoto’s relationship. makoto IS a modelling genius, he was really fucking good at it and a natural talent at it, compared to idol work where he has to work harder. but the difference is that he wants to be an idol! and yet izumi thinks that hes helping makoto by convincing him to come back to modelling - that its where he can achieve the most success/come closest to perfection, which izumi thinks will make him happy, etc. (theres more to it than that but for this line of analysis im focusing on this angle LOL) its like a single instance of what we see happen with leo and the people he wrote songs for during the war, interesting to see how that mindset gets echoed in different places…. id need to reread checkmate again before i say anything about how this interacts with izumi and leo’s dynamic, though. oughhh checkmate leo tsukinaga my beloved

the penultimate r2s experience is to gather a room of tired enstarries and watch the version with the absolute worse english subtitles to get awful childish laughing fits

regardless by a series of circumstances involving bioengineering and unethical experiments and eichi inheriting a truly batshit insane sea war. keito ends up interacting with kuro a lot! gets to know him! they fall in love! also ummmm he may be eichi’s like #1 operative in aforementioned sea war which includes magical sabotage of his enemies (the shinkais) and their associates…. notedly one (1) shu itsuki and her proteges

That dang Hokuto card changes people's brain chemistry, I swear. None of my mutuals are trickstarPs, let alone HokutoP, yet nearly all of us are currently debating mem coins or crab hokuto. I'm going to spend dias to get the "crabs are different in hokkaido" card. The "why is he holding that poor crab like a burger" card. The power, the charisma, the ridiculousness of a single png image. It's too powerful for mortal eyes to bear.

CRAB HOKUTO IS SOOOO FUCKING FUNNY TO ME.... i'm collecting it just for the unbloomed i already have hokuto's and tatsumi's FS cards so i don't NEED either of the cards but. but the crab khio. the crabs are built different. considering how high it got in the funniest unbloomed in enstars ranking i think the hype over crab hokuto is warranted. god she's so stupid i want to kiss her on the mouth <3 hokkaido's crabs are built different no girl that crab is fucking dead....

9. which unit do you think is the most underrated?

FUCK. uh. this requires me to know how the wider fandom perceives the units at all. i dotn. know dude ummm. ryuseitai maybe... i know everyone and their mother has read meteor impact BUT i feel like the juniors get overlooked a lot in favour of chiakana and the role they play to ryuseitai is rly important to Me . so . maybethat. trickstar a little bit also i feel like a lot of ppl have for sure a surface level understanding of trickstar but i dotn see many . trickstarPs? i am also guilty of this tbf but i feel like being a maoP main counts for something. cannot be maoP without also being trickstarP a little bit they love each other so much

20. what are your favorite 3* cards?

the. mao one where he's eating toast and the ibara one from the mysterious myths lim scout. which is such a combination of cards but theyre so funny

i feel like this explains a lot about how i see both characters. maybe (/joke i dont JUST like objectifying ibara i have so many thoughts. but also she's so pretty)

22. do you have any enstars ocs?

SO. I ACTUALLY FORGOT ABOUT THESE? BUT I DID MAKE OCS.... i have a couple actually the first guy is named ryou and he's the younger brother of my partner's oc... we made their lore together. there's two universes one where nozomi (partner's oc) is in knights and then ryou joins knights as part of the new wave of knights members in !! era and has to deal with being in his brother's shadow and one where he gets kicked out during the . new member debacle referenced in meowsketeers scout story and then ends up joining ryuseitai . we made seishun emergency collab song sad

and then i have a bunch of guys that are new ryuseitai members... i made a new ryusei purple and a ryusei pink and was working on white/teal/gray before i . Forgor about them. neither of them have names yet because im bad at naming but ryusei purple is half filipino. for me . maybe one day i will show them 2 the world... downside is i cannot draw so all i have visually is . picrews. i did start writing some dialogue snippets of nozomi and ryou though bc . angst <3 it was enstars dialogue style and a challenge but really fun

khio!!!!! thank you it was . actually really heavily inspired by how you lose the time war LOL i loooove that book. i was talking about it with a friend the other day... did you know i wrote an essay on it. for my lesbian studies class. it was a fun essay i know so many things about epistolary fiction and queerness and science fiction and ephemera now... for something i wrote in i think literally 20 minutes i'm actually really happy with the ibayuzu fic and i'd love to write it into a longfic where they get a red/blue style happy ending.... ibayuzu could pull of "what if we defect, not to each other's sides, but to each other" in this au i think. i believe in them

I have the very esteemed title of "ValkP by proxy of my dearest mutuals" so while I still have a bit of Valk stories to go, I did read Marionette and Human Comedy... We stan blorbos with character developpement dearly, and I care them so much. But Setsubun hit me like a dang truck. I don't think I can "he just like me fr" out of that one (I'm glad I'm no longer a teen, that dang thing is a Horror in itself)

HELPPPPP yeah. he just like me fr when i tell u i went from not really getting hinata aoi to understanding him better than so many other characters just through reading setsubun. why is he soooooo . holds him so gently in the palm of my hands. silliest guy. and yeah you're right setsubun sure is like a fucking truck out of nowhere... the closest i can compare it to is meteor impact but you're right about that being a different kind of impact (ha. pun intended) setsubun really just SLAMS you... i feel like uh . meteor impact feels more cathartic? at least to me... the end scene with chiaki tearing off his glasses and running onto the stage in the ryusei red outfit to sing with kanata felt so Triumphant despite all the horrors that came before, like the whole story was just building up to that moment, whereas setsubun kinda felt like.... crawling up off of a cliff's edge and looking up and seeing there's still a whole mountain to go. a breath of relief that you aren't falling any farther but knowing that the journey ahead is still going to suck... not that you can't still celebrate how far you've come and the dangers you've avoided... you know? but yeah. hinata aoi.....

on the other side of setsubun, though. we have "that time natsume apparently made a machine gun to shoot soybeans at keito hasumi during the war. to piss him off. because he hates soybeans that much. and now ritsu has stolen it to use on his poor brother. get beaned anija" so really i don't know who's losing setsubun more,

I was expecting the next mermaid AU chapter to be Wataei, so I got jumpscared by the Ryusei junior fic! Yippee, my RyuseitaiP heart is soaring!! What a blessed day for the mermaid AU fandom! But now I'll need to speedrun my "2wink 101" course (aka finishing the essential readings (christmas live was so cute it changed me forever(but now I need to finish setsubun and I Am Afraid)))

KHIOOOO!! ryusei juniors my beloveds.... i figured it was simply Time for the Ghosts (don't worry wataei are On their way. i am actively writing that wip i was working on it earlier today LGKJDKLJ) 2wink are soooo . a lot of what i did with 2wink in this au is directly inspired by setsubun (the robes that they're wearing + the lore itself) so that one will definitely help a lot! but also. uh. the horrors. all i can say about setsubun is that you REALLYYYY need to mind the content warnings on that one but it is a really really good story and definitely 2wink 101... good luck with the demons o7

The latest fic truly had all the best ingredients of a good wataei fic: Eichi thinking he's not good enough for Wataru and pining, Wataru busting through a window because he's bored, a whole bunch of romantic wacky gestures, and most importantly doing something with the only purpose of annoying keito, all wrapped in a simple, beautiful fic. Good work yet again! ✨

HEHE THANK YOU !!! this is the one (1) fic for wataei week i actually had written prior to the week beginning and i like it so much... they are so silly. i knew i had to do at least one day that had eichi in the hospital and wataru busting through a window because he's bored bc wataru busting through a window is just. quintessential wataru to me <3 i love how often keito becomes the poor poor victim of their collective desire for Shenanigans. poor guy. thank you for the lovely ask <333
