It's Keys' Regular (?) En Dub Review Corner!
Reed is great, I wish her accent was more Irish, but considering I was worried about whether or not they'd get her autistic nine-yard-stare-voice vibes down at all, it's very above my expectations.
Skadi is a disappointing performance from my favorite voice actor. But it's fine because-
Skadi the Corrupting Heart is the entire reason they got Cristina Vee on for Skadi. You can tell this is the case because she goes so fucking hard on it that it's not even funny. It's hard as hell to hold a candle to the original, but she actually manages it. My only regret is that I have watched too many Cristina Vee performances and the second her voice cracks I immediately lose immersion because her voice always sounds the same whenever she's crying no matter who the character and I just snapped back to thinking about how good miraculous ladybug is
Harmonie is pretty good! Superbly puntable, but perhaps a little stiff in delivery.
Puzzle is genuinely just really lovely. He somehow sounds more cunty than Harmonie, and I think it somehow works? The second I realized who they were casting, I knew instantly this would be a good performance, and I was right.
Breeze is cute! It's pretty solid.
Savage and Franka are kinda bad. I wasn't expecting much, and I sure got what I was expecting.
Flamebringer what the fuck who the fuck is this guy and why isn't he voicing everyone in everything??? I understand why people are attracted to men now.
However, I need to give a special shoutout to the single best performance in this batch:
Arknights has a long and really frustrating scar left on it by the early game having very minimal writing for operator files, backstory, and voicelines. A lot of early operators end up being REALLY flat and uninteresting as a result, and it takes a lot to rise above that flatness. But I am astonished to say that Firewatch's performance is one of those rare dubs that manages to be so good that I legitamately felt something for a character I previously didn't give even a single shit about. It's so good that I am finding myself genuinely emotional about this character whose lore could be snuck into an exam written on your palm.
