I dont know if this has been explained before, i apologize if it has but why was "Magpieleaf" the choice for Kevin's name?

magpie: black and white fur leaf: like a new budding leaf, he started out meek and shy as a house cat joining the colony. but as he has grown accustomed to clan life, he has shown great kindness, attitude and promise and is expected to keep growing his strengths

meta reasoning: — named him magpie after the nursery rhyme (one for sorrow, two for mirth, three for a wedding, etc.); also magpies are often an omen for bad OR good luck — leaves, they come and they go. like how he was excited about joining the candy club, he was excited to make a new fulfilling life outdoors and like how he was raised, he aimed to be a kind and helpful cat. now, he is wilting; slowly becoming burnt out and exhausted thanks to certain cats

i think his name was one of the few that i just made for a placeholder and then ended up keeping it TT there are probably nicer names for him but he’s cool like this now

i did start with "sweet-" to connect his motifs for candy but personally, i associate the prefix with a: white cat, white and ginger, tortoiseshell/calicos or lilac cats... so i didn’t like it :'3

exception for candy dealer because his eyes, as soooo unrealistic as they are, match the colour of sweet briars (he joined the colony rather than be born in it) and i feel more happy if he was the one with the prefix LOL

if i had designed kevin to be more white than black, i probably would have given him the prefix kite after the black-shouldered kite bird!

not every character has this much indepth explainations with their name though, most are quite simple lol

again about the warriors au because I am OBSESSED: what are the warriors with apprentices? (or vice versa, same thing) are the clans the same, or is it different?

*to explain: after Sablefang went out of commission (aka taken by twolegs aka the vet for his missing leg), Magpieleaf was assigned to Ravenpaw temporarily!

there are certain reasons why i chose these as pairs... but i hope to explain it as silly little comics! feel free to ask for a specific pair for a reasoning though!

as for your second question: the clans... is different! technically, it's just one colony of cats!

However, the cult which is called The Stars... is more accurate to the traditional warrior cats clan. from my notes, i wrote this:

The Stars is an outside extremist group that puts their faith and beliefs in the stars above them. Unlike the colony, this group is not exclusive to cats and does not follow the same naming system as the forest cats.  However, it is a direct rival group due to the colony have an abundance of food and clean water. Skidad (name tba) was shown visions by the forest and stars, and wholeheartedly believes he is the next leader. He has been promised his nine lives through certain means. A cat with nine lives has always been a silly myth; here, it will be his reality.

the other anon asked about the mentors and I am surprised I got LITERALLY ALL BUT ROY AND LUCKY RIGHT they were swapped instead (Rick and Roy and Richard with Lucky which IDK why but they were)

Probably cause Ravenpaw is the tamest I can guess

Sablefang (Streber) is a smart cat; he likes to wary of the ecosystem and environment so that the forest and the colony survive in the long-run. Star Pineface (Evermore) figured that Sablefang will pass on his knowledge to a pretty smart kitten like Ravenpaw (Ross, and he canonically gets good grades and tests too!).

It’s a little inaccurate to say Magpieleaf (Kevin) volunteered; Star Pineface just picked a random cat to fulfill Ravenpaw's apprenticeship and well, the warrior isn't one to refuse… just worried for certain reasons.

If Star Pineface had more time to think about it, Acorntalon (Aaron) would've been considered but: 1) he didn't have time; 2) parents mentoring their children isn't a popular take, and 3) Acorntalon wasn't present at the scene.
