And @gumnut-logic for being amazing and supportive of me playing in her universe. I’ve estimated this will be 3 chapters. I hope you enjoy part 1

Fic: into the sky - Epilogue
That's right folks, one more. Thanks to @gumnut-logic for letting me wiggle my dolphins into her world, and for providing the sanity read. :)
Characters: Scott Tracy, Gordon Tracy, OC: Enki
Warnings: Concussion aftermath
A/N: I mean. I am not going to thank my husband for getting a concussion...
Start from the beginning
Or just the Epilogue here
“‘M ‘ok?”  “Debatable,” comes an entirely too pleased response from a voice beside him. His smile radiates with his usual liveliness. “Not for lack of trying otherwise though.  Name, location, credit card number?” “Nice try. Scott, infirmary… and it was the boat with the - um - wrench… Colonel Mustard.”  “Oh, you’re definitely concussed,” Gordon announces, gesturing in mock offense. “I’m obviously Mrs. Peacock.”
That's a wrap! So long and thanks for all the fish🐬🐬🐬 -Gavii
(Edit: this dialogue was VERY real all of a sudden in my head. If I've read it somewhere please lmk)

Fic: into the sky (4/4)
Characters: Scott Tracy, Gordon Tracy, OC: Enki Warnings: Whump for this chapter, temporary drowning
Scott’s eyes reflect the sky, blue as the day he was born. His brothers’ darkened into brown over time - Gordon’s he remembers changing, Virgil’s he doesn’t - but Scott, even upon first wail on the planet, found himself blinking at the awe that was the world above him. In time, his blue found their home among the clouds, among the stretch of open skies in the silence beyond the sound barrier. Wherever he goes he takes with him a part of those contrails, the memory of atmosphere and immense speeds made manifest, even as they disappear above. Their vapor is what gives him breath, swirls the azure through his soul, and keeps his gaze uplifted.
But the blue is a firmament of black and his blues are behind a veil of brown when Scott hits the water. When he raises his chin in the direction he thinks is up, there’s only dark.

Favorite Fics - Self-Rec
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favourite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love❤
I was tagged by @mrmustachious. I'll tag @the-original-sineater, @gumnut-logic @tracybirds @mariashades and @womble1. Because if I've had to pick out of my children.... *evil laugh*. But in seriousness, I also want to hear from anyone else in the fic writing space. And only if you are interested. No pressure, but please also share your favorite personal fics if you want. We have amazing writers in our fandom, and you all have so much to be proud of.
...so, if I share that my favorite are AUs - will that further encourage you or further discourage you in reading them? I feel very torn about that. I'll mark which ones are the AUs with a *, I know they aren't for everyone, but I put so much heart into these.
These are in no particular order.
We Tried the World - Oneshot
Summary: “We tried the world... it wasn’t for us.” John invites a restless Gordon to visit him in Thunderbird Five while he's healing from his injuries. They talk Characters: John, Gordon, Virgil Why I like it: There's a catharsis to this one, and a meditation that I adore. Meanwhile, I feel like I succeeded at channeling John in way that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but captures one aspect of how he speaks to me. His art is his science, and I am quite proud of the prose in this one.
Directionless - Oneshot
Summary: Two Tracy's and a Lighthouse: "You actually want to avoid lighthouses," Gordon tells him. "The light's a warning that there's land nearby and not to come too close." "Hmm. Still. I imagine if one is lost at sea any light on the horizon, even a warning light, is a welcome symbol of hope, of change to come." He breathes the smell of sea salt. "Are you?" "Am I what?"  "Lost at sea?" Characters: Gordon, Virgil Why I like it: I feel strongly about the message in this fic and Gordon's struggle to figure out what's next, and I so love Virgil's presence to ground him amidst his thoughts. The light house was a lovely metaphor for the bonds I wanted to portray, and this story just feels like a warm hug when I read it.
Hold Fast* - Multi-Chap
Summary: Autumn, 1775. “The rigging ran through his blood; it was an energy, a lifeforce.” Characters: Gordon, Virgil, Scott, John, Alan, OCs Why I like it: It just felt right, despite being an AU. And though it's nothing I've ever read before, the heart of it very much is Thunderbirds. This is Gordon's hydrofoil story, just under the lens of the privateers AU. It was my first full exploration of adding depth to OCs. It also was posted weekly, which was a challenge for me that I actually succeeded in. And most of all... this story absolutely wrecked me. The feelings are raw, and very visceral.
The great wide open* - Multi-Chap
Summary: Gordon binds himself in the blue and meets the eyes of a dolphin trying to reach him in ways he can't understand. But maybe Virgil can. A prequel to "lend me the courage of the stars." Kermadec AU-djacent. Characters: Gordon, Virgil Why I like it: If you're going to go for an AU that's not too out of the box, choose this one. I enjoy that I've gotten to explore science Gordon in a way that feels right for him (to me anyway). I always see him as more hands on, but entirely competent, and with this series it's his oceanic soul that allows him to explore his brand of science with the calls of his heart. Enki and his family was a joy to discover, and I would be remiss not to include them in this list.
Tracy Seaside Orchard and Farm* - Multi-Chap
Summary: An alternate universe. Gordon has a successful farm... and seems to have nothing to do with this International Rescue thing. Characters: Gordon, Virgil, OCs Why I like it: The beginning of chicken!Dad which has since become almost synonymous with me as a person. That and ships (I have no chickens nor have I sailed). But I also like that this story feels unique and that I had the honor to explore who Gordon would be under different circumstances. I feel like I successfully wrote an argument - a horrible one - and still managed to show that no one was in the wrong or the right. I'm proud of how tender the boys' reconciliation feels, and I hope this story feels genuine and organic and compassionate.
In summary, the ones I am most proud of are the ones that allow me to play with imagery and poetic prose, that allow me to explore the bonds of brotherhood and human nature, and that feel a little different despite also being as Tracy as it gets.

Fic: the great wide open
Tumblr media
Summary:  Gordon binds himself in the blue and meets the eyes of a dolphin trying to reach him in ways he can't understand. But maybe Virgil can. A prequel to "lend me the courage of the stars." Kermadec AU-djacent.
Genre: Family, General
Characters: Gordon, Virgil
Words: 6.5K  (spread out into 4 chapters)
A/N: Whoa boy, I have some folks to thank for this one. @gumnut-logic for once again letting me borrow her universe, including Sam Coyle of Raoul. And, of course, for being this fic's number 1 cheerleader despite the pressure I put on myself to make sure it was everything it needed to be to stand alongside lend me, and more importantly her wonderful Kermadec series.
I also owe major thanks to @the-original-sineater for letting me borrow her headcanon of Gordon's WASP call sign and some folks from his team and for also cheerleading this fic majorly along with giving it its chapter names literally a second after I figured out how to split them up. It was magical.
And the whole Thunderfam for supporting me as a human being. Because this fic wouldn't exist without you.
Music: The Great Wide Open by Lights & Motion
-----
Every day should be Earth Day.
If humanity cared as much every day as they did on the one day a year that it was cool to plant a tree and upcycle their waste into a DIY and donate to their conservation effort of choice, then their planet wouldn't still be suffering from the effects of pollution, ecosystems wouldn't still be dying, Tracy Industries wouldn't still be sponsoring clean up efforts to get the goddamn garbage patches out of their oceans, and he wouldn't be here in Thunderbird 4 plastering on a smile because they are International Rescue.
This wasn't his ocean. It was a junkyard of fishing line and micro plastics and the ground up bones of wildlife who had the misfortune of living at the same time as humans. The trash itself was spread out over an area the size of France, caught in the wake of the currents that carried it, not quite a land mass, but leaving an un-oxidizing residue at the surface of the ocean that blocked out the sunshine. Turned the sea brown and grimy. Scattered, were nets upon nets, grossly intertwined, plastic bags, the occasional shoe or toothbrush, and too much else that didn’t belong. Falling downward deep into a trash soup from surface to sea floor, depending on the type of material or plastic.
They were trying to clean the surface today. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, as the voice of his older brother calmly resounded from the communication on his left.
 “How’s it going, Thunderbird Four?”
His submarine breached the surface. “Getting into position now, Virg. Go ahead and fire the last grapple.”
The cable shot toward Four’s extended yellow robotic arm that held the upper corner of the massive net. Once they were done, with a pull of a lever the four corners would come together to form into one giant trash bag, but the set up required specific placement, especially if they wanted to maximize their results. The sub shimmied as the cable connected, then Gordon released the net.
“F.A.B, Two. John, how are we looking?”
“Good, Gordon, get clear. Virgil, try not to fly too close to the water. Sending you the trajectory now. Take her three kilometers South by Southwest, and you’ll hit the largest concentration.”
 “F.A.B.”
Gordon watched the green giant fly away, tugging the net behind her. Thunderbird Two could lift 100 tons of weight with her cables, and Brains had designed the garbage net to be a pod of sorts in its own right. When Two was without her module, the net could be set up from her cables, and towed, so that it could skim the immediate depths of the ocean where certain plastics floated. The bottom edge of the biofiltering net was weighted along its ropes, to keep it as extended as possible before Virgil pulled the lever to lift the giant trash pile back up.
With the water resistance, they would never get a full 100 tons of trash picked up before Two needed to complete the run and deliver to the drop off point in Australia, but every bit helped. Virgil could get more trash picked up in an hour than most boats could in three days, than Four could ever dream without being out of action for a week or more.
Two - He - was amazing.
“Five, please tell me you got something for me to do.”

Fic: lend me the courage of stars
Tumblr media
Summary: It’s the anniversary of their mother’s death, and Gordon takes John out for an adventure at sea, so unlike his home in the skies, and yet so connected. Genre: Family, Angst - Warning for grief over Mom’s death Characters: Gordon, John Words: 6K Also connected to John’s birthday month extravaganza -and I think I hit a few :) A/N: Thank you to @godsliltippy, @the-original-sineater, and @gumnut-logic for the support and read throughs (the many versions of). This wouldn’t be as solid without you. Thank for, Thunderfam, for reading, and continuing to support me as I’ve worked through the last few weeks. It’s been rough, still ongoing, but this fic - and the excitement to share it with you - has been an important constant I’ve been able to fall back on.  There are a few key references made that I’d like to note - First  - This fic draws from a book I read as a young adult by Madeleine L’Engle, called A Ring of Endless Light. If you’ve read the book or her works you may recognize a few references. The name Eddington comes from an important character in her novels.
Second - This fic also draws from Nutty’s Kermadec AU, and, through it’s evolution, just kind of kept sliding into it. I am calling this Kermadec AU-djacent. If you have not yet read “We’ll Be Home for Christmas” you should.  Thanks for letting me play around with the boys and concepts you’ve built, Nutty.  Third -  Skipper wiggled her way in and wouldn’t let go. So, as part of this story, you all get to meet Gordon’s puppy, inspired by this post here, which was a  commissioned gift from Tippy.
Music: The title “lend me the courage of stars”  does, in fact, come from a song!  “Lend Me the Courage of Stars” - by Lights and Motion YT | Spotify No lyrics, just emotions, the genre is cinematic, and I so adore the build in this one.  Phew - that was a long one, thanks for reading. The fic in full will be over at Ao3, link below. I’ll get around to FF. Edit - FF added below :) ----- It was not a normal Tracy welcome home.
Usually, John came home to one of two scenarios. Either the whole family (and way too many people at once) met him in the hangar. And if Gordon had anything to say about it, he’d be there like a stranger at the airport waiting for their party, one LARGE sign: Looking for - Ginger with a Bagel. Or, Space Cadet Carrot Top. Or, John’s current favorite, Vulcan in Disguise.
That last one had Virgil’s handwriting all over it.
Or, there was no one to greet him at all between rescues, maintenance work, and their own unique hobbies and passion projects. And, sure, it was sometimes a bit lonely in those cases, but there were advantages too. It gave him time to rest until he felt more human, and only then would he embark on a sibling scavenger hunt.
Today, it had simply been Gordon who met him upon arrival, at 1100 hours, sans airport sign, greeting him with his usual squid hug, but with a bit more squeeze behind it than normal.
“I’m glad you’re here,” Gordon breathed into his shirt. “Terra firma not good enough for you?”
“Terra Firma is fine,” John quipped. “Gravity’s not.” Gordon gripped his chest tighter, and the pressure built behind his eyes. Behind those jokes was a scared child, a little boy who lost his mom too early in life and who needed his big brother’s support on the anniversary of her death. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be, Gordon.”  Read at Ao3 Read at FF
