The Kerala Story surpasses KGF 2, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior to become the 7th highest second-weekend grosser .
Filmmaker Sudipto Sen’s The Kerala Story has been taking the box office by storm, right from its opening day when it earned Rs. 8.03 crores. This was just a start to a winning journey for the Adah Sharma starrer. Currently, the film has made a remarkable Rs. 136 crores till its second weekend. While doing this, it has gone past the lifetime collections of some prominent and successful female-centric films like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Raazi, which had finished on Rs. 129.10 crores and Rs. 124 crores respectively.
But that’s not all. The Kerala Story has also achieved another feat in its victorious journey. It has now entered the list of the all-time highest 2nd Sunday grossers at number 7 with Rs. 23.75 crores, which it scored yesterday.

Cinemas in Kerala stare at a crisis as list of box-office duds grows
Cinemas in Kerala are staring at a mounting crisis amidst a string of flop movies at the box office since the start of 2023, according to an assessment by the Film Exhibitors’ United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK). The increased building tax slabs have come as a double whammy for the sector, which employs about 12, 000 employees. Only one out of the nearly 90 movies released till April end had…

"When a severe water shortage hit the Indian city of Kozhikode in the state of Kerala, a group of engineers turned to science fiction to keep the taps running.
Like everyone else in the city, engineering student Swapnil Shrivastav received a ration of two buckets of water a day collected from India’s arsenal of small water towers.
It was a ‘watershed’ moment for Shrivastav, who according to the BBC had won a student competition four years earlier on the subject of tackling water scarcity, and armed with a hypothetical template from the original Star Wars films, Shrivastav and two partners set to work harvesting water from the humid air.
“One element of inspiration was from Star Wars where there’s an air-to-water device. I thought why don’t we give it a try? It was more of a curiosity project,” he told the BBC.
According to ‘Wookiepedia’ a ‘moisture vaporator’ is a device used on moisture farms to capture water from a dry planet’s atmosphere, like Tatooine, where protagonist Luke Skywalker grew up.
This fictional device functions according to Star Wars lore by coaxing moisture from the air by means of refrigerated condensers, which generate low-energy ionization fields. Captured water is then pumped or gravity-directed into a storage cistern that adjusts its pH levels. Vaporators are capable of collecting 1.5 liters of water per day.
Pictured: Moisture vaporators on the largely abandoned Star Wars film set of Mos Espa, in Tunisia
If science fiction authors could come up with the particulars of such a device, Shrivastav must have felt his had a good chance of succeeding. He and colleagues Govinda Balaji and Venkatesh Raja founded Uravu Labs, a Bangalore-based startup in 2019.
Their initial offering is a machine that converts air to water using a liquid desiccant. Absorbing moisture from the air, sunlight or renewable energy heats the desiccant to around 100°F which releases the captured moisture into a chamber where it’s condensed into drinking water.
The whole process takes 12 hours but can produce a staggering 2,000 liters, or about 500 gallons of drinking-quality water per day. [Note: that IS staggering! That's huge!!] Uravu has since had to adjust course due to the cost of manufacturing and running the machines—it’s just too high for civic use with current materials technology.
“We had to shift to commercial consumption applications as they were ready to pay us and it’s a sustainability driver for them,” Shrivastav explained. This pivot has so far been enough to keep the start-up afloat, and they produce water for 40 different hospitality clients.
Looking ahead, Shrivastav, Raja, and Balaji are planning to investigate whether the desiccant can be made more efficient; can it work at a lower temperature to reduce running costs, or is there another material altogether that might prove more cost-effective?
They’re also looking at running their device attached to data centers in a pilot project that would see them utilize the waste heat coming off the centers to heat the desiccant."

you don't understand the makers of the kerala story speared propaganda against islam and kerala and you are navie lured to hindu fanaticism
first of all, if you're denying the existence of ISIS conversions in Kerala and the larger India then, the Observer Research Foundation published, in a 2019 report, that between 60-70 individuals in Kerala joined ISIS between 2014-18. Also, the NIA has entered various times into Kerala due to suspects of ISIS interactions. ISIS has existed in India for a while now and denying it would require your eyes to be closed.
You're saying that this movie is against Islam and Kerala but from where I stand, it's a movie against ISIS. That's something I will support to the end, both as someone who's lived through the repercussions of 9/11/2001 and the fact that they are literally a salafi jihadist terrorist organization. Anyone minus a few select people who went and watched TKS today are making conclusions about the entire movie from a short teaser/trailer clip, which, many times, isn't even an accurate portrayal of a movie. People who watched the full movie in the Kerala Supreme Court themselves had refused to restrict the release of the movie on the same premise of being against ISIS, not Islam.
Obviously, the biggest argument being made right now, and one I'm 100% expecting you to bring up if you choose to come back into my asks, is the figure of 32K conversions in Kerala. I don't believe in that number. What I do believe in though, is that The Kerala Story is a mere movie. All these people arguing against this movie claim to be "secularists". News flash, any film in a secular industry is gonna be dramatized because in a secular industry people look for viewership and how to make any small story compelling be it through caricature or exaggeration. As far as I care, people can consume whatever media they want and then are responsible for researching and fact-checking on their own. Quick examples of this that I can think of are the Netflix TV show Narcos where they antagonized a supposed "judy moncada" who was completely made up, and The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, a supposed retelling of events in the Vietnam war that he later concedes wasn't accurate apart from the emotion. Authors, writers, and any other artist for that matter take creative liberties in storytelling. I don't know how or why people are taking this so seriously. Congratulations you can do your research!
Now in terms of being a "navie" that's lured into Hindu fanaticism, what's naive about loving a culture that's been here for centuries that resulted in the construction of beautiful architecture and tells the some of the most enthralling stories? If anyone called any of the Abrahmic religions fanatical, they'd immediately be pegged as islamophobic, christianophobic, etc, why can't Hindus get the same respect? Honestly, the one common trait in any land with foreigners is the sheer lack of respect for natives and it shows, be it India, the USA, Australia, etc. I'd highly recommend you get a reality check on yourself.

Aadujeevitham Box Office Triumph: Prithviraj's Survival Saga Shines on Day 5
Prithviraj Sukumaran's latest venture, Aadujeevitham, continues to set the box office ablaze, surpassing Monday's test with flying colors and outshining recent Malayalam hits.
After a stellar opening weekend, director Blessy's survival drama Aadujeevitham showcased resilience as it navigated through Monday, maintaining its stronghold amidst the ebb and flow of daily collections. The film, which has garnered widespread acclaim since its release, exceeded expectations on Monday, setting a new benchmark for Malayalam releases in 2024.
Despite a predictable dip post-weekend, Aadujeevitham recorded a commendable nett of Rs 5.25 crore in the domestic market on Monday, marking a 39 per cent decrease from its Sunday earnings, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. With this, the film's total domestic nett now stands at an impressive Rs 35.55 crore, with a global gross of Rs 64.85 crore.
Aadujeevitham maintained an overall occupancy rate of 53.74 per cent across Malayalam markets on Monday, showcasing consistent performance throughout the day. Morning shows commenced with a 40.85 per cent occupancy, steadily increasing to 52.52 per cent in the afternoon and peaking at 61.26 per cent in the evening. Even night screenings maintained a robust 60.31 per cent occupancy.
In its home turf of Kerala, Aadujeevitham raked in Rs 3.85 crore on its fifth day, with 255,885 admissions across 1,387 shows, achieving an impressive occupancy rate of 66.79 per cent.
The film's Monday collection notably surpasses other 2024 Malayalam blockbusters such as Manjummel Boys, Premalu, Bramayugam, and Abraham Ozler, further solidifying Aadujeevitham's status as a game-changer in the industry.
Aadujeevitham's success defies conventional norms, as it lacks typical mass appeal or fan-centric elements. Instead, its triumph signifies a shift in audience preferences and viewing habits, bolstering the industry's prospects.
In addition to its box office prowess, Prithviraj Sukumaran's stellar portrayal of Najeeb has earned widespread acclaim, with critics lauding his career-best performance. Despite initial skepticism, Sukumaran's portrayal of Najeeb exudes authenticity, elevating Blessy's narrative to new heights.
As Aadujeevitham continues its triumphant march, it not only celebrates its own success but also paves the way for a new era in Malayalam cinema, characterized by innovation, authenticity, and unparalleled storytelling.

"Mammootty Birthday Surprise: You Won't Believe His Age!"
Isn’t it fascinating that in a film industry, where new talents emerge regularly, a 72-year-old man remains the most promising actor? For Mammootty, an actor with 52 years of experience, who has earned three National Film Awards and seven Kerala State Film Awards among others and has been a reigning superstar in Malayalam for over 35 years, it’s easy to succumb to mediocrity and produce films solely under the guise of ‘entertaining the fans’.

In this corner of the internet, we gather to celebrate the mesmerizing world of cinema—a universe that has captured our hearts and minds. From black and white classics to cutting-edge masterpieces, we embark on a journey through time, exploring the works of visionary filmmakers who have left an indelible mark on the art of storytelling.
As we venture forth, we encounter an array of cinematic geniuses, each with their unique style and narrative flair. One cannot speak of cinematic brilliance without mentioning the legendary Martin Scorsese, whose films have forever redefined American cinema. From "Taxi Driver" to "Goodfellas" and beyond, Scorsese's storytelling prowess is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
We delve deeper into the world of art cinema with Andrei Tarkovsky, the Russian auteur whose films are known for their profound philosophical themes and stunning visual poetry. Prepare to be entranced by the ethereal beauty of "Mirror" and the enigmatic journey of "Stalker."
Stanley Kubrick, a master of his craft, shall forever hold a place of reverence in our cinephilic hearts. His meticulous attention to detail and audacious storytelling gave us cinematic treasures like "2001: A Space Odyssey," "A Clockwork Orange," and "The Shining."
And how can we forget Akira Kurosawa, the Japanese maestro whose samurai epics and humanist tales continue to inspire filmmakers worldwide? "Seven Samurai," "Rashomon," and "Yojimbo" are just a few of the many gems he bestowed upon us.
Our love for cinema is not confined to the West; we also cherish the works of revered directors from different regions. In the Indian landscape, we find ourselves drawn to the films of Mahendran and Bharathiraja, who pioneered a new wave of Tamil cinema with their thought-provoking narratives.
Venturing southward to the lush landscapes of Kerala, we lose ourselves in the profound storytelling of Adoor Gopalakrishnan—a master of subtlety and social commentary in Malayalam cinema.
And of course, no homage to world cinema would be complete without paying respects to the maestro of Bengali cinema, Satyajit Ray. His iconic "Apu Trilogy" remains an unparalleled work of art that continues to resonate with cinephiles across the globe.
As we traverse this cinematic landscape, we'll also explore the groundbreaking works of Eric Rohmer and Godard, whose contributions to the French New Wave have redefined cinema's language.
At Cinephile's Corner, we invite you to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of cinema, where every frame is a brushstroke of emotion, every dialogue a symphony of words, and every performance a reflection of the human spirit.
