The third volume you've all been waiting for is here! Following the success of our previous two volumes, the Zine, Please! team is proud to announce we'll be bringing you another volume full of Check, Please! goodness made by the fans for the fans!

As with our previous iterations, this will be a multi-month affair, with sign-ups happening in October 2024, check-ups happening throughout the process, and the zine being published in free PDF format in June 2025.

This volume's theme is.... #TripleTrouble!

'Swawesome things come in threes! For this volume, we want you all to explore the shenanigans, celebrate the triumphs, and dive into the inner workings and dynamics of all your favorite Check, Please! trios!

There's endless trios to choose from, some more familiar than others. I mean, who can forget the most iconic canon trios? We're talkin' Ransom, Holster, Lardo! We're thinkin' Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot! We're screeeamin' Chowder, Dex, Nursey!

If you're willing to go outside the box, think about trios you'd love to see together who the fandom hasn't seen! Who among us is brave enough to put the Jack's Type Trio of Bitty, Camilla, and Kent in a room together? Hell, we could even take a dive into Deep Fandom Lore that OG fans may remember with the No Chill Trio of Lardo, Nursey, Kent.

Be it everyone's faves with polyfrogs, tadpoles content, or unlikely trios we'd all kick and squeal about, it's all welcome for this volume!

as a birthday present from me to y'all, i'm so excited to finally be able to share something i've been working on for the last month and a half: an aces!jack AU coauthored by the wickedly talented @ohyoufool!!! (24k, jackparse, endgame zimbits, jack/therapy. tw for many, many things. please read the ao3 tags carefully)

It goes like this.

Awake, alone, Jack Zimmermann finds himself in the backseat of his pickup truck. The sun slivers up over the edge of the Mojave, edging sand into shimmer, bones into dust. 

His dreams are always different: cold linoleum, marble tiles, grief he can’t grasp in both hands. Eyes, blue and green and brown. A cathedral of sadness. The end of the world on an altar of gold.

For someone who’s supposed to have it all, he comes up lacking a lot these days.

He stretches, takes inventory. An empty six-pack in the passenger seat. A sore throat, worse than yesterday. A bottle of Klonopin that jams the brake pedal when Jack climbs over the center console to try to start the truck. He scrabbles for it with one hand, catches sight of the clock on the dashboard: 6:07.

Jack curses, hurls the empty bottle out the window, and peels onto the 15 in time to make it for morning skate.

epikegster au where bitty walks in on jack and kent making out, which leads to bitty being invited in jack’s room to watch but eventually the three of them hook up. the morning after, bitty is making breakfast when kent enters the kitchen fully dressed and half-asleep, but his smile is warm when they make eye contact and it makes bitty want to melt. they talk a little bit and kent is like “I’d like to see you and zimms again sometime. like going out on dates and stuff.” in which bitty asks if last night was just a one time thing until kent tells him that it’s not and that he genuinely likes him and jack. before heading back to the hotel in boston, kent and bitty exchange numbers and kent places his hat on bitty’s head before saying “looks better on you anyway. I’ll text you, ok?” and kisses him on the cheek. later bitty and jack go to annie’s and they both confess their feelings for each other while also admitting their feelings for kent and wanting him to be a part of their relationship.

Hello, I just finished the Hat Trick Hearts series by SomewheresSword and ohhhhh my god, it was SO GOOD.

If you like PBJ and you like seeing these boys happy, I highly recommend this series. It's 463,312 words of them being in love and figuring out how that relationship works, both in private and in this heteronormative and monogamy focussed world, and it's very low on angst. It's not pure fluff, there's anxiety and homophobia and dealing with past hurt, but there's no manufactured angst in the relationship, just lots of love and comfort and actual communication! Especially once they get together, which I promise doesn't take too long.

The series is canon divergent from Epikegster, based on the premise that Bitty went to the 2010 Olympics as a figure skater and met (a very sad) Kent there. They became close friends, but only through phonecalls/skype/texting and somehow neither realised that Bitty's captain who he was crushing on was the same guy that Kent had been heartbroken about all these years. So when Kent shows up and sees them taking selfies together, the night goes very differently. Despite this divergence, the series still includes a lot of canon moments, before eventually moving past where the comic ends and folowing these boys for many more years.

I'll link to the fist fic, if the idea of commiting to the whole series is too daunting, you could technically just read this and have a satisfying (and happy) ending in about 90k words. Or just start here and enjoy the journey!
